(Continued from previous post, last page)
A pleasant, relaxed smile greets those in the room, one that would rightfully strike fear in those who know enough of the net to recognize the face that it adorns. Purple armor is covered by a trademark white labcoat with a red "W" crest on the breast pocket; the trademark of the infamous World 3 organization and its acting leader; the tyrannical genius himself, Gate.
Gate: Hopefully this makes far less sense than what you so obviously expected. But to summarize; when attempting to data-mine another network, it might be wise to be mindful of who exactly you're getting that data from. You never know who might be able to get into your server as a result. Oh, and one more thing; your observational skills genuinely need some fine-tuning.
The lights turn on, and some.... thing.... is revealed; behind the group, previously hid in the shadows, is a massive machine-esque being, shining with a conglomeration of multi-colored metal finishes and sporting two very obvious features; a pair of large, green eyes, and an absolutely massive mouth that bisects its upper and lower halves.
Gate: I said that I would not harm any of you, but I made no such promises for this server. Protect it if you must, but any casualties that may result are not my doing. Good bye, and I do wish you all luck.
Gate then glances over the group and to the engine of destruction that he'd summoned, giving a wider smile as he gives a single command:
Gate: Crash the network and any Navis in your way.
The screen shuts down, the server's lock is removed, and a full opening to New Life is created... but only for a moment.
Gate: Sharo ONB Base>New Life Static: Sharo ONB Base>New Life
<Area Lock Shut Down>
The link closes before anyone could possibly follow, and a massive blast of steam rises from the now active engine of destruction behind the group. Gate's monster's eyes light up, and its body comes to life with a spark; the moment was now; fight for this base, or evacuate and start anew. This monster would ensure that the choice would be made quickly, as it now intends to make it for them.
WARNING!
The WWW Destruction Engine: "D-Rex" is set to destroy all data on the network. Each turn it will make attacks on both the network and any Navis who oppose it, displaying the network's current integrity in the process. If all fighters are deleted or the current integrity of the complex reaches 0, then the fight is ended and the network and all Navis currently active within are considered destroyed.
Find a way to defeat the D-Rex before this happens, or evacuate before you are deleted by the ensuing destruction!

"What's with tyrants and this server? ... Why did we even pick this location as our base in the first place again..."
Russet stanced with a bronze rifle rotating on one hand, and the four Sensor-like pets now arriving from the corners of the base now circling him. Each was brimming with lightning, and so is Russet.
"We may not have seen this coming..."
Well, I have. I always knew it would come to this eventually.
"And frankly, I don't care about this base. However, I'll take every chance I can to improve myself... Until such time that I'm offered to tear Juno's head clean off."
Whoever that is.
My attacks may be mere scratches, but I'll make them count.
Russet aimed and fired rapidly, precise enough to hit every joint in one side of that tank's wheels. His Sensor-like pets made sure to target the monster's eyes to block its vision... Hopefully.
Russet aimed with precision, but at the same time, he waited for something else. An opening. Any sign of vulnerability.
The ONB... Juno... They aren't the respective faces of good and bad, no. They equally deserve to be destroyed.
Russet roared, letting out his anger, and at the same moment, offering himself as a distraction.

Fulgur blinks. Wait...who was that...as he continues on,the young navis eyes narrow. Great...the jerk was after destroying his new home...Nose flaring angrily, he turns to face D-rex, examining it. It looked tough...He'd need to use his heaviest attack.Sticking close to the others so they could cover him, Ful begins charging, amping up for a wolf roar.
"I know this thing looks bad, but I have to stay and fight!!! I'm not about to let that jerk stomp all over us and destroy my newest home!!I've got your back, Mr. Russet!!"

As Gate made his appearance and everything returned to normal, Revved growled through gritted teeth. They had been thoroughly duped and played...but now was no time to muse over what he had pieced together, they had a new matter on their hands...
With Gate and Static departing from the area, Revved readied his fists for the inevitable battle that now lay ahead of them. The monstrosity looked tougher than anything he'd ever fought...
Witnessing Russet and Fulgur engage the network-destroying monster, he glanced back at the beast, unsure exactly how effective a direct attack would be...or if such would be wise, either...and he quickly made up his mind.
"I'll back you guys up too! Let's crush this menace!" Rev exclaimed, dashing for the beast and jumping onto its head, delivering several quick strikes and blows. He had to lend a hand as best as he could...and stay alive!

"Count me in! Gyaa! Crushing Fist!"
Kaiser was dropped from the sky before landing a smasher on the tank's head. Immediately, he jumped away to avoid Dagger's shower of sharp, flaming feathers from directly above.
"..."
Dagger was gloomed and tired. He had already used up a large portion of his power since he came here. Even then, he was determined to end this trouble like them all. His forehead glowed skyblue as he continued to shower more and more. However, his lack of concentration sent some of the feathers flying somewhere else.

Desperado's eyes widened, played for a fool he was. Humiliating. Utterly Humiliating. But now was not the time for sulking, that could come later. Even as would-be adrenaline rushed through him at the appearance of the D-Rex, and the fight began to heat up, There was something only Desperado knew how to do. Work the computers at the very least, having spent much of his time here while others went to fight. He easily could have made it into that link with his speed, but there were more pressing matters at hand.
Darting between Dagger's feathers as Kaiser crushed the head of the D-Rex, leaving but the smallest opening to pass by. In a purple blur Desperado used that opening to his advantage, moving quickly to the main computer room. The Command center wouldn't have everything they needed, but it was a much better location for general use. The first floor computer room had full access however, especially to work with the partition he had setup. He doubted it was still active, but at the very least if the connection had been active until the network was taken off, there might be something about how to stop this thing barring taking it apart piece by piece.
Entering the computer room, Desperado quickly sealed the door behind him. The base didn't have its onsite security protocols setup yet, he had figured for the time being, being such a small group, they wouldn't have to deal with such big threats for some time. What an oversight. What could they do... What could he do... With lightning fast hands, all the computer's processing power was diverted to the main computers, with keystrokes blinding, Desperado scoured his New Life Partition for anything related to this engine of destruction, anything to stop it.

Desperado's search turns up with woeful results. Not only does the console that he's working on flash error after error, it quickly becomes apparent that the line to New Life wasn't just closed, but trapped. A surge of electrical energy bursts out from the computer with a crackling laugh, damaging Desperado's entire body before shutting down violently. Gate's foresight left the group blind as to how to deal with the monstrosity.
Another blast of steam erupts from the D-Rex's mouth, signaling its head to begin levitating roughly 2 feet above its lower half. The engine of destruction seems to all but ignore the Navis attacking it, focusing its eyes forward to focus as hit after hit bounces off of its metal body.
In one fluid motion, the entire weighted body of the D-Rex glides forward as if it were on ice, smashing into the console that Gate had just been speaking from like a wrecking ball. The impact pulverizes the entire wall as if it were made from paper, which brings the attention of the beast to the next source of flowing data. In another unnaturally fast move, the demolition engine glides forward once again, crashes through a nearby wall, and smashes the main computer that Desperado had just been working on, scrapping it in a solid move while just barely missing Desperado himself. This is when the beast's head raises higher above its lower half, causing its crushing jaws to open wide and begin to generate an unnatural amount of power in the form of a massive, sparking sphere.
Network Integrity: 90%

Curses! Nothing, whats more the blowback cackled in his face as his body tingled from the blast. The wall blowing open from the D-Rex was a similarly unwelcome surprise though he was able to get out of the way before being squished. This program was entirely unrelenting, Maybe the network could hold for a little bit longer, but at this rate the INDF would be demolished long before that happened. It was entirely regrettable, but it seemed they had been masterfully outplayed here. Technically as the leader, Kidd would be the one making the shots, but you don't lead by a title, you lead by actions. In this moment clarity Desperado had realized perhaps it was best now to cut their losses. Bases could be rebuilt, reputations even, but lost members perhaps the hardest to bring back, and they did not have time to wait for their comrades to come back from deletion, especially with Gate likely monitoring them here.
However Desperado's injuries were severe, he hadn't been ready for the feedback and he was never built to take many hits to begin with. Even trying to move at 30% top speed seemed an impossible task. He knew what he could do, he could command at the very least, clutching one arm in the other as he staggered to the opening, the cackling of the D-rex's charge muffling his screams, yet still they persisted over, just barely.
"Attention all INDF Members, Retreat, This is a losing battle! I repeat, All INDF Members Retreat!"
He hated the words that came forth from him, but better to live to fight another day than end up deleted here for who knows how long. There were other things that needed to be done as well, but that would come later.

A flash of light touches down near the control room of the newly unlocked ONB HQ, revealing the form of a fairly tall, black-shelled Navi....
Gravity Beetle: ONB Commander Gravity Beetle. I've got reports of problems here so-
...and that's when a falling wall nearly crushes Gravity Beetle where he stands, revealing the swiftly charging D-Rex in all of its power, and leaving Gravity Beetle with a flat, annoyed expression on his semi-hidden face.
Gravity Beetle: ...let me guess; Gate?

Fulgur blinks, then his eyes narrowsvas the beast tears down the walls, charging up a attack. Levering his buster at the monster, he fires...A huge beam of electricity comes forth, blasting the young navis cloak straight back and pushing him backwards a inch. The roaring wolf's head capping it slams into D-Rex's right eye, hopefully at least knocking it off balance and stalling the attack.
Hearing the order, he grunts, waving his smoking buster around to cool it. Then, he let's out several charged shots at the pipes/hoses on its head. Those looked weak...."Sir, I'll stay, and make sure its occupied so others can get away. I'll follow right after, so don't worry about me!!!" Then a stranger appears. He glances at him, then nods."Yes, sir!! Or at least I'm assuming so...He had a lab coat on, and a W....Do you mind helping? Uhm...please?"

"So his name was Gate... I'll remember that."
Russet made a move as Fulgur distracted the monster and appeared between Des, Beetle and the D-Rex, holding a Framed TankCannon that brimmed with lighting.
"I don't care about my deletion right now. No disrespect, Leader, but I'm staying here for a while as well." His words may or may not have slipped, but it's about time he properly addressed the one who truly led this group.
Dagger swooped around the D-Rex and aimed to grab a hold of Des to get him out before deletion befell him.
Kaiser hopped on the D-Rex's head, relentlessly throwing punches down towards it even as his spiked rings broke, one by one.
Russet looked back at ONB Commander Gravity Beetle... Remembering that the human that first shut down this network recently was also an ONB... Or, at least, as Des concluded. What are the odds that Gate was an ONB too?
"You're an ONB, right? Have they sent you here to die? Because... If you didn't know, it's your organization that brought this trouble to us. Seriously... What did we do to deserve this? Is peace no longer an option in this world?!"
Angrily, he fired a large, exploding bolt of lighting on the D-Rex's mouth. At the same time, he was careful enough not to cause a fallout that might affect anyone else but the D-Rex. He himself didn't know how much damage this would deal. By the looks of it earlier... Probably not much.

Desperado fought against Dagger's assistance only momentarily. He wouldn't leave others to die, somehow he knew self sacrifice was not the answer. Sure deletion, death as it were, was but a temporary obstacle. Many forms came to be brought back to the world, but that didn't matter here. This wasn't a situation which called for that, and such wanton disregard for their own lives was the true issue.
"No one stays behind! Save your martyr fantasies for some other time. That goes for you too Beetle! You got a lot of questions to answer and we're not gunna scrape them up from a ruined network. This thing only wants the network, we can replace everything here with time. Now everyone retreat! Thats an ORDER!"

...and that was enough. In spite of the carnage, something else had to be done first.
A black sphere formes in Gravity Beetle's horns, and one massive, overwhelming pulse of gravitational force knocks both Desperado and Russet over and draws them in. In a split second, they find themselves locked between the axe-like horns on Gravity Beetle's head, trapped in place by both his titanic strength and his gravitational manipulation.
Gravity Beetle: Let me be clear; I owe you nothing, and take no orders. You're illegally in this ONB base. I have every legal right to delete and imprison every one of you.
Gravity Beetle then releases the two and faces the D-Rex again.
Gravity Beetle: New Life was taken over by Gate, and our forces are all but gone. I may be the last commander still burning the midnight oil, and I'm just here to help.

Desperado falls barely keeping himself on his feet, his hat long since fallen from his head and a small trickle of blood streaking down his face. This wasn't the time for argument. Order or not, they had to get out of here, facing it wasn't worth it.
"Then let me be clear; I don't care how strong you are, be it orders or a friendly suggestion, retreat. I won't have anyone here dying because of some stupid notions that they have to hold off a thing meant to destroy the network so that we can get away. That goes for you too."

"Ugh. Y'all are bo-o-o-o-ring!"
The shade of grey assembled itself besides and in front of and behind and below Dagger.
"But, you're interesting. A human's mind? Or... what exactly are y'all? Who cares."
A shadow of no one in particular, in no particular shape, casts itself onto the DREX. Upside-down, taking shape of the Hanged Man.
"You know, you can't win this fight, right? Or are y'all just dumb?"
The shadow dissipates again, then an upside-down smile finds itself within Gravity Beetle's view. Like the Cheshire Cat, the frowning inverted smile hangs there. Then speaks without breaking its eerie smile.
"You know, it's kind of counter-intuitive to work for both sides. So, do you think the INDF will win or lose?"
"Though I think you know the answer already." ;)
