Megami’s right hand reached out as if she was about to form the book once more, but yet, nothing appeared. “Even I do not have all the answers.”
Her eyes seemed to look to her right hand in a depressing gaze. “As far as I’ve noticed, there are lots of myths to this world that are being made reality through the power of human being’s endless potential of imagery and creativity. Even I, myself, a NetNavi created with the ideas and traditions of a story based on Gods and Goddesses not only exists, but shapes the world based on these powers by the actions I make.” Megami was not sure what to make of her estranged ability or existence. It was almost as if she was something that should not exist, but yet she was, and judging from her Net Operator, she was glad she did.
“What about yourself, Unity?” Megami questioned with her eyes gazing with wonder, “Do you ever think about just how different your abilities are from others around you? That you were once something not thought possible, but through the desires and thoughts of a person or a group that you have become real? Certainly, it’s something that must have made you think about how...incredible people are?”
Her voice peaked at her astonishment, and her eyes filled with all the more promise. Megami, for once, seemed excited about her existence. It was a rare case indeed.

Unity listens with care to Megami's explanation. It made more sense than he would have thought, and re-framed much of how he looked at things on the net. And then her question is posed. Unity thinks for a moment, raising an eyebrow as he looks up and past Megami in thought, unsure of how to answer.
Unity: ...I'm sorry, but I really haven't. This is my first time on the net; I've only been online for about a week, and only remember coming online for minutes at a time before that. Everything here is so new to me that I guess I don't really know what to appreciate yet.
Unity smiles once more as he looks back to Megami.

”New Navis and systems are made almost every day…”
Megami nodded her head. The voice of her Net Operator audible as a thought in her head. “I see. My apologies for misunderstanding and overwhelming you.” she responded to Unity, “It is just as my Net Operator has inferred to me, you may be something new to this world as you are to it. It is as if human beings themselves are perhaps the Gods and Goddesses of this world. I, myself, cannot even begin to comprehend any of this: purpose, mission, or fulfillment of a duty.”
Megami weighed heavily on these things, so much before. However, there was a brisk feeling from what she felt now. Technology was expanding, growing, and Megami after reuniting with Xenneth could feel her dream come true. It gave her hope! Even now, looking to Unity’s existence was a revalidation of things she envisioned: selfish little desires such as an inhumane romance. However misguided, she still had a hope that was expressed through her servitude and a warm smile emanating as she nodded towards Unity.
“Either way, I have decided to choose my destiny as a NetNavi, which I choose to be the core of my programming, a possibility of free will of how to use my power,” she declared, “That, like you, I can interact with my environment and retain peace on the network as well alongside my Net Operator Xen-kun. How I can do that I am not sure…” she pressed her right index finger at her chin as she thought heavily.
“But I will figure out a way,” her body returning to its bliss neutrality. A smile, a bow, and a beaming gaze of purity from her jewel-like eyes, “Yes, I am sure I will figure out a way.”

Unity remains silent as Megami speaks. Watching. Listening. Learning. Before this, he didn't know what he didn't know, but Megami had already given him so many new perspectives to think about. In fact, he already felt a little brighter inside.
Unity: Wow. I don't know what to say, Megami.EXE. It sounds like you've really given a lot of thought to this.
....what more could he say? He came to this city very humbly thinking of himself as the most unique being here, yet the first Navi that he meets puts him to shame in a very kind way. Funny how things work out.

“Heehee! It is because of my Net Operator,” her faced flushed with the color of roses behind her giggle, “He inspires me!”
“Huh! I-uh…”
Xenneth may had been flustered and confused, but Megami had never thought so clearly. Long into her lifespan, she had not been able to figure out why she was so different. She had no personality like NetNavis: she knew nothing of function, purpose, and following her Net Operator properly. She only felt like some kind of person who was in a world unknown to her. She was not even aware of the concept of coding, zeroes and ones, or even what a program was. She thought herself broken…until now.
“But these disasters,” Megami gesturing her hands to Unity in a friendly manner, “How is it that you are programmed in trying to prevent them? Are you perhaps a system that can detect them in some way or foresee danger?”
A NetNavi that can see danger? Megami had seen all kinds. Just looking at Unity, she could not even fathom his abilities or anyone’s upon first looking at them. It was the one thing that fascinated her about NetNavis. However, a NetNavi that could predict danger like a psychic, it was crazy.
Was it?

Unity laughs as Xenneth stumbles over his own words, unsure of what to say. The affection between these two is so obvious, and it warms Unity's heart to see. However, she also poses an interesting question.
Unity: Well, I'm not really made to stop them myself I guess. You see, I can't fight on my own. So what I'm designed to do is merge with a Navi and augment their ability to fight. So I guess that I'm made to help others get the job done more than to do it myself.
Unity laughs somewhat sheepishly. He'd never really given his power much thought, and in this light it feels.... underwhelming.
.....not far from this scene, another plays out. Sitting at one of the bistros under New Life, a lone Navi reads his e-mails in peace. A smile on his face, he seems the most carefree being in the world. And then, he recieves a call.
I presume that you have good news for me?
I have the information that you wanted.
Wonderful. If you're prepared to proceed, then please set this in motion.
...the Navi laughs to himself and returns to his e-mails, now even more jovial than before.

“You...merge with others?” The statement turned into a question just by Megami saying it.
“...not even I have heard of that.”
Xenneth’s reply was just as mystifying to Megami than anything. To her, Xenneth was like a “God” of knowing everything! For the violet haired boy to outright not know anything of such a program, it was all overwhelming for her! Like any child, it was a frightening remark when the parent could not comprehend; an unfathomable fear that he could not put into words. Hearing this, Megami had looked at Unity, her head once again tilting in that strange manner as if she could not even begin to imagine what he was speaking of.
“That is...well, I am not sure.” Megami once again too tangled for words, “I have never heard of such a program that ‘merges.’ I must say, it’s interesting, but at the same time frightening. Does it hurt? Do I not be myself if I were to merge with you? How does a ‘merge’ take place and for how long? How...” Megami stopped, but only for a moment. “...how do you help ‘get the job done’ if I may ask?”
Her last question summed it all up in one brief moment of being so stupefied. She was oblivious of any impending danger, but overwhelmed by something so alien!

So many questions, and all about him. He didn't mind answering, and didn't mind talking about himself, but actually putting it all into words had started to make Unity feel self-conscious. His hands subconsciously meet behind his back and he looks at Megami somewhat sheepishly as he answers, delaying a moment before he does so.
Unity: ....Well, I don't really merge in the normal sense of the term. What happens is I take a Navi, remove him or her from the net as we know it, and then run him or her through my OS. Because there's less running on it, the processing speed of any Navi on my OS increases, and they gain access to some of my skills and abilities. It might feel a bit funny, but it doesn't hurt, and the Navi running on my OS is the same Navi that they were before. If something happens and I get too damaged while running another Navi, that Navi gets dumped back to the net, so there's no real risk either. It lasts however long it needs to, and hopefully it gives Navis the power that they need to handle the problems that they're facing. I'm still weak though, so it doesn't do a whole lot right now.
Unity gives a meek grin as he finishes with his explanation. He wants to stop talking about himself, as it feels terribly boastful, but all that he can think of for changing the subject is...
Unity: S-so how long have you known your operator?
....flawlessly delivered. No one would ever have known.

“Uh...” Xenneth was hesitant to reply, “W-wait...that’s...I-”
This was all hard to comprehend for him, and for Megami, she seemed to nod and all catch bits and pieces as she had brought out her book and flipped through the pages as Unity spoke. Even as he delivered the last term she had looked up with ease, and then closed her back with a decisive smack, she smiled warmly with a gentle nod of her head. “Okay! I got it!~”
“W-wait! R-really?”
That was hard to believe considering how many things Megami did not understand herself.
“Well,” Megami’s eyes rolled to the right as she tried to recall her memories, “Me and Xen-kun have been together since the period he calls ‘High School.’ Throughout that time, we have both become stronger together! I do not think I could have gotten to realize so many things about myself without him pressing me forth and trying his best with his ‘research.’ It has been quite thrilling!” Megami said happily before she looked at Unity with some concern. “Perhaps in time, that is what will make you strong too, Unity? Sure, like myself, then, you now by making friends as well as becoming close with your Net Operator will help you understand your strengths better, just like me!”
Megami, although naïve, had a strong faith in her words and her memories. She gave a reassuring smile to Unity as she suggested this.

Jin happened to stop himself on a boulder while under water. He removed the chains from his person, and wrapped them around said boulder. After doing so, he used his sword to create some leverage, and dislodge the boulder, sending it down the river, along with the chains and whatever was at the other end of them. He then made his way to the opposite bank.
Jin: "Well, glad that's over."
He found his way back to Mia after these events.
Jin: "Sorry about that miss......, are you alright? That brute didn't hurt you, did he?"

Unity visably relaxes as Megami allows the subject to drift back to herself. At least there was no reason to compare himself to others now.
Unity: ...I really hope so Megami.EXE. It sounds like you and Xenneth were really made for one-another!
Unity smiles brightly with a genuine expression. What a wonderful Navi, and what a wonderful person...
...and not far from this, the Navi at the bistro silently gets up, closes his screen, and teleports away....

“Yes, we are...”
Megami had drifted into a dream-like state just thinking about it all. Her strength and bond with Xenneth made it seem like it was only yesterday that she thought so little of herself, but eventually, she had started to believe. Her right hand was pressed to her corresponding cheek and a single index finger was tapping at her jaw. It was then she came up with a plan! A delightful expression coming to her face as if she had come up with the most grandest of plans. Her right hand stretching out to Unity as her body bent slightly as if she could pull him to her any moment.
“I know!” Megami declared, “Come with us!”
“W-wait! What?!”
“We have the same quest, right? We want to try to stop disasters from happening and help people! Myself and Xen-kun have been pondering...that maybe one day we can be of service by going where we are needed! How about it, Unity-san? It does not hurt to have a friend along, yes? Will you join us?”
Xenneth thought about it, and he started to realize that Megami was right: they did have the same mission. Not only that, Xenneth was not sure what an OS was supposed to do. Though Megami was right, it did hurt to have a friend along.

Unity's face goes blank as Megami latches on and invites him to come along with her and Xenneth. Unity hadn't been prepared for this. Sure, he expected to come down and talk with some nice Navis, make contact, but to have someone actually reach out to this degree? The gold-plated Navi can't help but smile as he looks down to Megami's hand gripping his arm. The hand of a friend.
After a momentary hesitation, Unity gathers himself and looks back to Megami, nodding as he does so.
Unity: Alright, Megami.EXE. How can I help?
All at once, Unity's self consciousness goes right down the drain. Not only does he have a friend, he can now work with that friend to fulfil his programming.

“Well, I have no idea!”
There was an awkward silence afterwards. Her voice was filled with such enthusiasm, and even as she held onto the arm of Unity, Megami still had a smile on her face as if the reply was the most brilliant that could be said in such a moment. The moment was so awkward, even young Xenneth who watched on had reached giving a tug of his collar and tried to think of a way to dispel just how weird this moment felt. After a while, he leaned his head silent as he rolled his eyes to one side.
“How about an e-mail?” his perched lips suggested as Megami’s face beamed with excitement.
“Yes, Xen-kun is right!” Megami said happily, this time forming a complete idea, “You can give us your e-mail and, as humans say, vice versa! From there, when we both encounter problems or disasters that my threaten the net, we shall call upon each other to help deal with those disasters! I am sure with my strength and your own, we will be able to handle almost anything!” Megami said happily as she clapped her hands together happily in a decisive manner.
