__________________________________________
It was calm currently on the open field where Rikaru stood. He still was not sure why he agreed to this, he had no real reason to accept the challenge. Then again, proving himself would only help him in his line of work...no one liked to hire a weakling.
The sun was starting to dip lower into the horizon, it was that time of year, when night came early. The golden light shimmered off of the scattered falling flakes, most would be distracted by the natural beauty of the sight at hand. But Rikaru was not like most...Instead his mind took in the land scape, trying to plan for the battle that would ensue shortly at Merrill's request, and persistence.
The field was actually the bottom of a canyon, gouged into one of the many mountains in Sharo. Craggy sides lined the canyon to either side of the lone navi currently. Behind him, the canyon wound farther up the mountain and eventually became a path towards the peak, but that was unimportant to him now. In front of him was the path down toward more civilized areas, and where he expected his challenger to come from.
Luckily the field its self, while covered in a nice blanket of snow, was relatively uneventful as far as obstructions. The occasional weathered tree, a few scattered boulders...nothing to annoying. He never liked suddenly having to overcome a hazard mid battle because he was unaware of the terrain. Thankfully that shouldn't become to much of an issue here.
Rikaru sighed, he wanted this to be done and over so he could get back to work. The life of a man for hire, had no time for games, which he considered this sparring match of sorts to be. It was first come first paid in his world, and one never knew when a good paying job could come in. Instead he was standing out here waiting for 'Bug boy' to show up. He crossed his arms and looked up towards the sky, the setting sun coloring the clouds a yellowy orange hue, and continued waiting.

Merrill and Healer flew overhead, scanning the valley below for Rikaru. Merrill scanned quietly, humming away on his flute, While Healer looked around. She noticed Rikaru first, AND the spiked walls...
[shadow=red,left,300]"Merrill... We have to fight down there? Near the spikees? O.o;"[/shadow]
Merrill looked down, and nodded. He stopped playing his flute.
[glow=gold,2,300]"Yeah. We do. Don't worry, little one, we will be fine!"[/glow]
Merrill slowly decended, playing his flute, enjoying the warmth of the Sunlight upon his wings and back. His white cloak rustled as he landed several feet away from Rikaru. His cleak was parially closed, and his collar was sticking up, the hood still tucked away nearly invisible. He nodded, finished his slow, wonderous tune, and then spoke.
[glow=gold,2,300]"Thank you for accepting to Spar with us. It means a lot, and will help me learn to use a spear-like weapon."[/glow]
Merrill pulled the Spear-staff from it's sheath on his back, and pushed the sharp edge into the ground. He looked around, taking in the valley, before smiling, and with a quick chuckle, continued.
[glow=gold,2,300]"Interesting battle site. Gives you an advantage with limiting my flying, eh? Haha. No matter. "[/glow]
He bowed, as a thank you, and in respect. He streched his legs while he waited for Rikaru's response.

[ Battle Post – One] [/font] _______________________________[/center] Home sweet home...
The stationed NetNavi thought this when she lay across the blanket of pure white. Her cloak of black had been a sufficient warmth to her body and not to mention a good bedding while she gained comfort behind the scope of glass she peered through with her one opened green eye. Senshi, the lone gunner, had sat upon the craggy mountain side at approximately two-point-five kilometers away from her targets (an average at least 1.55 Miles). She was not one for up-close and personal things when it came to the request of something as trivial as spars. She wanted to get in some gun practice, so when the notion of a spar came up and formally asking to party?
Who the heck cared?!
Her eyes rolled just hearing the notion of such a silly thing. She was not one to go asking, “Hey! You wanna’ play with grown people weaponry and see whose stronger?” That knocked out all the realism, all the seriousness, and all the danger of a real fire fight. So, she did not ask to spar with them, nor did she even answer to such a request. She just silently grasped the strap of her weapon and took roost upon this mountain area. With her lips juggling around the stick of what was assumed the grape flavored piece of Cyber Candy “Suck Pop” in her mouth, she was about to begin her version of “sparring”: It was call “Fatal Simulation.”
*Click!* “One...”
*Click!* “Two...”
*Click!* “Three...”
The female NetNavi said as she stared through the scope of her weapon after turning the dials. There were three targets; two NetNavis and one viral. Her weapon was switched to its maximum mode that consisted of three barrels and the trigger attached to her right finger and small tubes attached to her hand to draw energy for the blast: her primary attack drawing from her energy to fire a powerful blast that was sure shot accurate. However, she could always fire and hit-all three of them at once with a blast just as accurate, but neigh not surely unless they had some insane speed.
She glared for a moment...
“Two NetNavis won’t go down easy, but that pipsqueak virus is barely a threat.” Senshi’s whisper lowly as she glared through the lens before reaching her left hand upward and togging her goggles over her eyes. The red lenses thick rendering her eyes unseen, but yellow digits and crosshairs appearing as they displayed each target as seen in the scope of her weapon. Her right hand tugging at three thin wires nearly invisible amongst the white tundra that was surrounding her bedded position as she had laid down.
“They want to practice? They’ll get their fill...” The barrels of the weapon begun to glow with a soft blue flame-like color. Senshi’s goggles started to flicker with the yellow crosshairs that had blinked rapidly changing to a red color; a dangerous bloody red color that that blinked faster and faster...until...
*BANG!*
There was a blast of light that fired from the weapon barrels in a single node of light that raced towards the three figures that were introducing themselves. The single thin node had raced quickly but before even reaching them before ten feet, that one node of light split into three instantly as they aimed to crash into their targets with blinding speed.
The Optimal Rifle shot of Senshi virtually never missed its mark unless there was significant damage to be had from it. Nonetheless however, she was testing to see if they were worthy for a spar depending how she took her little “warning shot.” _______________________________ “I won’t go til’ it’s over.” [/font][/center] ::OOC Stats::Now Listening To: ”Shooter” by Lil’ Wayne ft. Rikaru was not expecting Merrill to come in from above, but then again, he did not have wings, and had not even thought of the idea. He remained silent and still as Merrill landed along with his virus, instantly noting the vast difference in appearance from the last time he saw him. Battling with a spear like weapon he says...that would be a change as well. He immediately discarded most of the information he knew on the navi's combat abilities and likely to be outdated. As far as limiting his flying, he had plenty of ways to discourage flying against him, the locale was not one of them he thought.
Finally after Merrill bowed, and began stretching, Rikaru nodded in acknowledgment, before speaking. "Normally I would not bother with such things...but work is slow, and keeping skills honed is key." he said, pausing for a moment. This was true, but at the same time, he would be rather annoyed if he finds he missed out on something profitable for this. He wasn't THAT rusty. "Now then, if you came prepared, I will begin this little sessi-"
He cut his words short when something caught his eye to his right, turning his head for a better view was all he managed to do, before the glowing energy shot slammed into his shoulder. The shot stung, but definitely did not seem to be one that intended to do any real damage.
Rikaru frowned as he scanned the mountainside the shot came from, it was rather a large area, and he had no clue who, or what caused the blast other then the echoing "BANG" that resounded through the canyon. It definitely sounded like it was a special gun fire of sorts, perhaps a rifle of some kind. Not able to pick out where the assailant was located, and not overly worried if that was the worst damage it could inflict, he turned back to Merrill.
"Inviting others to this little game? Interesting twist." assuming Merrill knew of this and not seeing the shots that had also been aimed at them, he wasted no more time before preparing to attack.
Opening his hand, sand began freely flowing from his palm, though keeping in an orderly shape, beginning to take on the shape of a spear. Then as the spear of sand seemed to be completed, the outer most layer of sand blew away in a light breeze, revealing his weapon of choice. Nothing overly special about the weapon, other then the head was shaped much like the Greek symbol 'omega', with the shaft of the spear coming from the top of the arch.
His weapon at the ready, and now gripped tightly in his hand, he dashed forward, dragging the head of the spear through the snow briefly before he reached his other hand over to grip the spear almost like a long sword, both hands nearer the bottom of the shaft rather then the middle.
As he got close enough, he hefted the weapon up in a high diagonal arc, bringing the bladed head down aimed to slash across Merrill's chest. Not one to leave it as such a simple strike, he used the momentum of the first swing to fuel his motion of the second swing, loosing his grip just for a split second to slide his hands farther up the shaft, he quickly spun, taking a step closer, he swung up in the opposite angle, in the fashion of a large 'X'. Again, allowing his previous motion to add to his building momentum, he quickly kicked off the ground lightly, allowing the force of his swing to pull him up into the air slightly, all the while shifting the position of his spear, and his grip on the weapon. As soon as gravity once again latched onto his frame, pulling him back down, he swung down to slice perfectly vertical along Merrill's body, the head slamming into the snow after wards as he landed a split second later. He decided to finish his combo, by trying to put some distance between them. It was good to have a chance to prepare against a counter attack. Stepping back, and grabbing the shaft with both hands at the lowest portion, he dislodged his weapon, swinging it, and spinning with it, in a massive 360 arc, attempting to slam the head into Merrill's side with enough force to knock him a short distance away.
Ooc: who knew one attack could be made so long rp wise. Hahahaha

Just as Rikaru was about to finish, Merrill noticed the shot that hit him, followed by the more or less poke, that hit him in the wing.
Then he heard the loud BANG.
He was distacted, and had barely any time to react to Rikaru's attack. he got the staff-spear up in time to block to block the first diagonal strike, but the second one sent his weapon flying off to his right. The downward one struck true, cutting Merrill's check, and glancing off his armor. Merrill staggered backwards, taking the last blow, it scraping across his new armor, sending him a few feet sideways. He regained his balance, then spoke.
[glow=yellow,2,300][shadow=yellow,up,300]"Umm... Was that you who hit me? O.o And what in the Heavens was that sound?!"[/glow][/shadow]
He put his hand to his wing. it seemed fine. He was lucky.
Healer took the attack, and shrugged it off. She faced Rikaru, until the loud noice sent her backwards on her rear.
[shadow=red,up,300]"What was that? O.o;"[/shadow]
Merrill dived to his left, picking up the Spear-Staff. He jumped, fillped, and attacked at Rikaru, he slashed down, left, up, right, then jumped, reversing his grip, sending a blast of energy at Rikaru from about 5 feet away. He landed on his feet, and thrust the weapon at Rikaru several times, attepting to push him back.
Merrill had to admit, it was new to him fighting with the spear-staff weapon. He liked it for a lot of reasons, but he was far superior with the sword. He hoped his lack of experience with the weapon wouldn't show. Besides, he was getting some experience by sparring Rikaru now.
When Merrill finished, he jumped back, looked around, senses on high alert. He kept his focus on Rikaru, while he was searching, no, waiting for that sound again, and another attack.

((Oy, you two might want to go ahead and Battle independently amongst yourselves. I thought you guys got the memo about me deleting Senshi but I guess not.))
