[bgcolor=000055] “I always feel one step closer.” [/font] _______________________________[/right] Megami had been listening to Warrior for some time, but she had pressed on, ignorant that actually that Embera had addressed them since her mind wandered off (as usual) and all she could think about was the goal of finding the BBS. By the time she had noticed that Warrior and Sun were no longer following, the NetNavi turned around reeling back a block as she feared she strayed too far from Warrior, forgetting that he needed just as much information as she did.
“I have to start paying attention...” Megami thought worriedly.
As Megami rounded the corner, she found Warrior standing, but even more so, he was standing opposed to Embera as she had just arrived to find them bickering about something. The fiery NetNavi had seemed to respond without care in regards to something, Megami too ignorant of what happened previously to know since she was off trailing ahead of the group. Her eyes went to Embera and then to Warrior as she seemed to feel they were missing something considering that previously when they were together...it seemed it was less tense than the feeling in the air.
“W-what’s going on?” Megami asked looking to Warrior, “Where’s your friend? Had she too gone ahead?”
Gone ahead...the proper words, but not the best ones to use in the moment.
Megami’s eyes had gone to and fro between the two. Her naïve feelings fleeting as she seemed to sense the auras of the NetNavis and one faint. She had not been sure if she was correct when reading Aura, but she knew that she had a bad feeling clinching her heart. ______________________________ “Then I find out how far the distance is.” [/font][/center] ::OOC Stats::Now Listening To: ”Lolita Libretto” by Kanon WakeshimaIC Attire: Megami:: Fallen from GraceChatty Ditz: Short post. "Don't ask such trivial things, my reasons are none of your concern."
Warrior's stare remained locked with Embera's. How did they ever get along in the past?
“W-what’s going on? Where’s your friend? Had she too gone ahead?”
" No..."
Warrior's teeth remained tightly clenched even as his mouth opened to respond to Megami. His head and his eyes didn't leave their spot while answering her.
" ..."
Mouth still slightly open, jaw still tightly locked. Warrior kept the same posture as before, as if waiting for Embera to do something.
Apologize? As if...
Attack? Seemed illogical enough for her to do it...
Return the stare? Most likely.
But regardless, Warrior was a bit too focused on containing his emotion to do much else at the moment. Even fully answering Megami's question would cause his focus to snap and his growing rage to erupt and sky rocket.
Not much beyond an apology could calm Warrior down right now -- and everything short of another condescending comment would only prolong the moment that Warrior finally let go of the loose control he still had over himself.

[glow=white,2,500]*Embera's eyes shifted to Megami, only nodding at Megami's words. Then she spoke up with words like daggers.*
Embera: The girl's dead. Warrior was just too weak to save her. His strength wasn't enough, just like it will never be. Tell me Warrior, how many people are going to die because of your inability to save them? How many lives must weigh on your conscience before you realize your futility? Surrender to the truth, and stop deluding yourself with thoughts of "righteousness" and being a savior. Must this girl be another example of your weakness? Or can you admit to yourself your own worthlessness?
*With her words still in the air, Embera began ever so slowly inching her way to the naive Megami, awaiting if Warrior would do the one thing to save her.*[/glow]

Warrior's eyes finally broke their state of anger and grew wider as Embera slowly moved toward Megami.
" Must this girl be another example of your weakness? Or can you admit to yourself your own worthlessness?"
He raised his hands as if surrendering, though they didn't raise higher than the top of his head. He couldn't look either of the girls in the eyes, and turned his head in shameful acceptance of what Embera had said.
" Alright! ...alright. Just..."
He lowered his hands to grab the daggers hanging by the chain around his waist, detaching them only to throw them at the ground near his feet.
Every hint of rage was swallowed by a chilling sense of worry, and the burden of defeat felt like an anvil that had been tied around his heart. He stepped away from the weapons, then took a few more steps away from the girls, and for the first time, his fear outweighed his anger.
" ... Don't hurt her, just..."
Not a command, but a mere wish.
Megami's life was in Embera's hand, not Warrior's. Sun's was the same. There was nothing he could do to prevent their death -- only prolong it.
" ..."
At a loss for words -- but it was clear he had given up. He just didn't know exactly how to say it.
Giving out a painful, depressing sigh, Warrior simply shook his head at himself as he turned to walk away, knowing he was helpless to do anything.
" ... and go back to the hole you belong in."
Embera's words echoed in his mind as he went away to do just that.
But as Warrior walked away, a shadowy after-image of himself remained. Standing their, after watching his Original's retreat, Remnant slowly turned back around to face Embera as Warrior left the area.
" ... He's become more of a worrier than a warrior, thanks to you. He's not like his old self..."
He approached her, stepping between her and Megami, fully knowing what it would cost him.
" ... but I am."
Remnant was Warrior's old self. Arguably, he was the 'real' Warrior out of the two, at this point.
" Say what you will about him, but none of what you said is true about me. I don't care how easy this will be for you -- you're not getting to the girl without going through me first."
Suicide? Perhaps.
But if nothing else, it gave Megami a chance to flee... or atleast a chance to consider it.
Remnant knew better than to draw a weapon. His only option was to maintain endurance and take as much as he could before Embera was finished with him.
Much more noble than Warrior's response.
" Consider this my proof. That I'm not a coward. I may not be able to save the girl, but that gives me no excuse not to try."

[glow=white,2,500]*Embera's eyes narrowed at the presence of the Remnant. Even an after-image was just as foolish.*
Embera: You're no different than him. Your grandeur gestures to hide your own weakness. Your desire to die...You're just as stupid as he is. What's worse...you're not even the one paying the price...Come and see what I've learned.
*Just then, Embera gripped the collar of the shadowy Remnant, completely disobeying the incorporeal nature of the being, and threw him quite a ways back. Within an instant, it was over.*
Embera: What a fool...
*In the blink of an eye, Embera was point-blank in front of Megami, with a short dagger poised at her abdomen. Grabbing the back of Megami's neck, Embera made a thrusting motion towards her chest.*
Embera:Sleep now...you were never in danger...I'm sorry
*Indeed, the blade seemed to have stabbed right through her chest, yet no contact was truly made as the fires had rescinded into Embera's hand as she punched Megami, knocking the wind out of her and rendering her unconscious momentarily. With both navis away from her, she gathered Warrior's daggers as she made her exit to elsewhere.*[/glow]

((iirc, Incorporeal is ineffective in-story anywayz xD ))
Remnant grinned as Embera approached him with her slander.
" Courage is not to be mistaken for foolishness. Call it what you want -- you can't change what it is."
Then he was thrown back quite far -- blowing through several buildings like they were made of foam -- before finally landing on his back. It put him through quite a bit of pain, but he knew she could've done worse.
He slowly recovered to his feet to head back to the upper-net.
There was nothing left he could do here... and what was worse -- Warrior was no longer capable for what Remnant had intended. He had been defeated without a fight.
He would have to find somebody else -- somebody with a stronger will.
Remnant left the area, abandoning wherever Warrior may have gone.

“Xen-kun...”
Before Megmai could grasp what was happening, she was too late.
Her head hurt and her memory was a whirling manifestation of words and scenes. Her right hand went to her head, and left to her chest where her NetNavi icon was. It was slightly damaged from the impact and her body was draped still in the outfit she worn before, but slightly charred and peeling because of the GMO program being disrupted. Megami had figured out what happened then: she was caught off guard. That almost never happened...but why now?
Xenneth was not here.
It made a big difference. The violet haired boy made up for Megami’s helplessness with quick reaction and his heart rate would be channeled through the P.E.T. strapped to his wrist, connecting to his pulse: joining their hearts. Without Xenneth’s heart, Megami almost felt like she was half an individual, let alone not even a “NetNavi.” She never considered herself one in the first place seeing she was flawed, but that’s what made her have pride; she was Xenneth’s NetNavi, and that driven her to try to find him even more.
Megami, looking around Hacker’s Network now, had seen that the NetNavi’s were gone, and herself, genuinely left alone. She had decided that, with herself weakened, she was no good trying to search for the BBS as she winced while holding her chest. She had accessed her P.E.T. and logged out back into the system.
Who knows? Maybe Xenneth was home...

*Along the face one of the many make-shift store-fronts with questionable merchandise walks a Navi of somewhat more regal baring than most of the others. he quietly makes his way down the street, making passing glances at the merchandise and avoiding the more aggressive Navis along the way as he does so, obviously not there to cause any form of ruckus*

{ Iria } Strength: 4Durability: 3Speed: 3Accuracy: 3Stealth: 0Awareness: 3[Continued from Kotobuki pg12Iria had come to Hacker's N despite it being one of the biggest dens of Heel navis the net has ever known. The natural radiant aura of a light monger of this caliber, coupled with who she was, was both a blessing and a curse. Some Heel navis ran like the cowards they are upon noticing her. Others rubbed their chins and began to clamor amongst themselves with the possibility of "rubbing her off the map". Without a care to even mask her presence Iria began to strut off the entrance platform and search the would-be netsquare for the armored darkloid who had ditched her.

*The refined Navi, still walking along the street, takes note of Iria's presence. He glances over to see her a few moments after she appears, but quickly comes to the conclusion that whatever she may be doing is of no concern of his, and continues on his way at a leisurely pace*

*Falling from the void, Embera plummeted down into the Hacker's Net, landing face first on the ground*
Embera: My face is killing me....Ow...
*Getting up, Embera gritted her teeh as she realized where she landed. She stomped her foot, causing a small surge of sparks to erupt from the ground.*
Embera: I can't believe I'm here again!
*Trying to cool down, Embera walked through the alleys, trying to find the main strip, before bumping into an almost out of place navi, falling down and ready to start another tantrum.*

*A moment after the flaming empress falls, ready to begin venting her rage, a large, wand-like protrusion appears in front of her, reaching down from the robed arm of a familiar Navi...*
MagicMan: Well now, it has been quite some time, hasn't it?

Finale [FROM: L'INTERNET DU SOIR]Appearing in the Hacker's Network through the nearby end of the UnderGate, Finale strides over, nearly bumping Iria as he passed her. Not having yet seen MagicMan nor Embera, Finale waits for his employ to arrive before searching further. The Undernet is a dangerous place, and getting into a fight was the last thing The King wanted.
