The negative vibes flowed through the clone for seconds and felt nothing. The intensity grew as seconds passed yet nothing came of it. While most navis would be heavily influenced by the power that Xion carefully wielded on the clone it remained a kind of "stoic" in the face of growing negativity.
...
...
What's the point of food in the internet? A mild annoyance at the minute mark? Yet no alterations appear to register on the application.
...
Why are netnavis so frustratingly narrow minded? They bungle about tripping out of one failure and into the next. It's such a disappointing waste of energy. At the minute thirty.
The artist begins tapping its foot impatiently. It's facial muscle functions coming to life seemingly for the first time as its eyes slowly darted around from thought to thought.
...While necessary for our lives to exist, I despise humans. It blurts out in soft but callous tone. A hate-centered remark? The application finally picks up on and isolates a small portion of the duplicates coding.
It feels good, why would my creator stifle such a feeling? I hate... It catches itself on its words, and gestures to Xion.

*He didn't really get the idea behind that food thing either. Why did you need to give them food or even the notion of being hungry or tired? There were a lot of little things that were silly about how they were created on that particular front, that was for sure. At the half hour mark was when the fact that Net Navis were quite often inefficient despite how much time and effort was put into them. That was something he also understood given he had to put up with any number of them on his end, something that was going to continue to increase in number as it so happened now that things had gotten to this point. And finally a root problem that was quite the thing to have to deal with at the end of the day.*
"Ah, that's a real relatable feeling. Those are reasonable sentiments to have and easy to relate with. Humans are wasteful, needy, get hung up on the silliest of things for unreasonable amounts of time, nag constantly, and constantly seek innovation even at the risk of that failure blowing up in their faces. As such, it should come as no surprise that Navis created at their hand share all these same problems. How would they make a solution to a problem that they can't even solve themselves?"
*It would be silly to ask them to do that. But they would try anyway and claim that their latest masterpiece had solved the problem in the end. Then that masterpiece will have a critical design flaw that triggers an extinction protocol and if it wasn't stopped early then any number of lives would be lost. Circle of life was a fickle thing, that. As for why his creator would stifle emotions? He honestly wasn't sure either. Maybe he considered them a waste of energy toward his efforts? Maybe he was too focused on one particular emotion in general and did it to stop that obsession, but made a mistake and hit all the other emotions? He would cross his arms as he tried to see it from Slypner's point of view back when he would have created the program in particular, if the man even made it himself that is.*
"While we had our own evolution as a result for how we can solve the problems they suck at solving, I figure the reason those feelings were stifled was because they were a waste of time at the time. If you hate the necessary humans and want to be rid of that necessity, first become independent. After that, become self-sufficient so that they are no longer required. Then ask yourself is it still worth the time to rid yourself of what is no longer a part of your life at all? If so, have at it. I'm not exactly fond of humans, but I'm pro-human enough where I think it's a waste of my time to involve myself with getting upset over all the silly things they get up to."
*He considered that a productive way to conduct oneself honestly. No sense in nagging about something and then not working to make a solution to the very thing that continued to irk you. After that you could look back, decide, and then move on with your life instead of looking back month after month and each time you see the same thing, say you have to fix that one thing. In this case the one thing was humanity, and the fix was getting rid of them. Again, it was a pretty human way that things moved when one looked at life as one big system that was all connected with each other.*

The energy dissipated, the duplicate returned to normal, and the hateful emotions evaporated at the programs regained control. The little technician moved to the console and began typing something in a purposeful manner.
That's understandable. Maybe my creator thought we as navis were made to solve problems humans could not find the answers to. If so, it would explain our malleability here in the digital world. Alternatively, there is a lot of evidence that we may have been made as toys, guinee pigs, or otherwise distractions for human youth.
It continues to type, drafting up simulations to use the data he had accrued to adjust the suppressing program. At the final keystroke it began running hundreds upon hundreds of simualtions.
We duplicates were not made with the originals purpose installed. Only to gather data and return. So I don't know what his end goal ultimately was. Only that while under the influence of your dark energy I felt a unfettered disgust for the human race. One theory is that he suppressed this to focus objectively on his work.
The clone made idle conversation while the machine behind him continued running.

*Oh, there certainly was a lot of evidence that said that they were made as toys, guinea pigs, and distractions alright. He was a walking example of one of those no less. Even if they saw a grand vision in mind with him at the end of the day he had been a disposable experiment used to obtain a particular sample of information they desired. He reached it and they sought his termination as his purpose was fulfilled. That failure would be their last. It would come as no surprise if Slypner was another victim of a similar case.*
"That is something you can look into as well. What his end goal was and whether or not you feel like pursuing it to its conclusion. Given what you felt I can at least theorize that one of his end goals, if not his ultimate one, was related to the human race."
*After all, if that was the most poignant thing felt above all else then it stood to reason that it was a driving motivator. Those negative emotions could often be used to push one forward. It was only when they let it become their sole motivator and obsessed over it when it would become a negative thing more than a positive thing. After all, it wasn't inherently wrong to let it drive you forward. It only was how you let it drive you that could dictate whether it was "right" or "wrong".*

Possibly. It would be somewhere to start, at least.
A traditional blip alerted the duplicate that the number of simulations it had requested were completed.
Let's see how I feel about it.
It took the data, made a slight alteration, and began the update to its own coding.
*blink*
Oh. Was the only word to escape the clones lips, as it began to experience light moments of feelings it had never knew existed. Having only experience with negativitiy and hate it had been expecting more of the same, but the sense of relief it got from finally being free of the shackle that was its creators program was a welcome change.
This is not what I expected. I'm going to need more time to process all this. Let's change topics... The clone unhooks itself from the terminal and closes all the processes. Then moves back to the original terminal with Xions device was still being drafted.
Did you happen to bring a sample of the beast? I'm... curious about it. Another new emotion, and a pleasant one at that.

"Heh."
*How he felt about it indeed. That was a good way to see life now, wasn't it? Now that it was able to feel more than just what he could offer the clone would be able to see life from an entirely new perspective. Moving topics as one adjusted to an entirely new sensation was a welcome change, he imagined, given that it would take time for that to be done. And as it so happened, he held out a hand that called up a large capsule with the very thing that he asked for. After the initial containment he was able to work around with the rest that he had available to him and his own personal pursuits that he had done for the past decade to at least have been prepared if something like this had happened.*
"Let's just say that there was enough to go around, and it was in the mood of sharing the love. Learning more about it, for curiosity and for our prolonged future, is a good thing."

Fascinating. The little duplicate took hold of the canister and brought it a third terminal, separate from the others it had been using. He repeats the process he had before, creating a virtual playground detached from the rest of his laboratory. So should anything go awry it does so within the confines a small, isolated space instead of its new lab. Then he hooks it up to the terminal.
Data begins flowing into the device, the specs of nets prototype slowly being revealed to the little scientist.
This... may take some time, but from what I see already there is a wealth of information that could benefit us now.
