Slypner
Without a verbal response, Slypner begins typing on the terminal next to the footage. Adding a layer of security in the form of what the humans call a 'virtual machine'. A digital playground designed to emulate another computer to increase safety. Then the usb slot gets redirected to that, rather than the 'host' computer. The little professor inserts the chip into the terminal so they can see what this assassin has to say.

After it arrived at the playground as desired, it would begin to bring up words to send a message. Likely whatever the assassin Var had to say about things. But the problem that would occur next would be that the language that was displayed wasn't a known one. It was definitely an ancient dialect as Jax could tell that in some of his travels in looking up ancient history he may have seen a symbol here or there before, but not enough to make heads or tails of. But it was enough for Xion to put together what the message was, especially when one of the things that appeared at the end of it to serve as a signature was the same Murian Crest that had been so boldly emblazoned in so many other areas that he had been forced to venture to due to the involvement of someone else. Likely a measure taken so that only a select few would be able to read the message that was described within. And something that could still be discerned as one of those few were present still.

"A Murian message? Of course it would be."
*He didn't have a good deal of information from there, but if he recalled correctly this one was related to that event back when he was able to talk to Resonance without any of the facades at hand. And Juno had been triggered by a human, which basically were Murians who forgot how to do their fancy details. That made a whole lot more sense on some things now... and gave him an idea about what he could do when he had to inevitably put up with those paradoxes. Other than that, the details held within were simple enough to explain.*
"The long and short of it is that this is for Hollow. There's a lot of miscellanous mentions here, like her work or Stellar's work, but it has a few wrong dates here. No doubt intentionally set so that the people watching him wouldn't bother noticing it. He probably wrote this during some of his turbulent times so they excused his jarred recollections. Meaning..."
*He crossed his arms as he took the numbers in. They weren't far enough off to be that strange and could be mistaken as a typo here and there, but with this language and by rearranging what he saw a bit and where he put the words by applying dyslexia to it instead, it let him discern the following.*
"While there's no telling how long they've been here, they have been here for more than 500 years. There's a bit of missing information here that needs another piece to complete, so I bet that was left in a location no one would bother visiting. Keep in mind the Murian language and it probably means the place that most people can't get to. Easy enough."
*Around where Moon Disaster would have come from. This wouldn't fill them in on anything else like what they could do, but knowing that they were operating even before the world had fully grown into a civilization of communication and more meant that they had their marks set in places others would think they had safely taken first. Then it was about time to expedite the multi-tasking here. He had a general idea of what he wanted, so he would display a blueprint that he would send over to Slypner. It was for a program, a fairly extensive one at that to be used with something he had acquired very recently. The first step with the Giga Freeze and why he needed a lab like this, as well as a reference as he had observed the place.*
"Leave this clone of yourself here, Slypner. We'll have one of the ones back at the Colony confirm what's inside this mystery data. I need you to start working on this and let me know whenever there's something that you don't have available to you. Before I open it, I need to phone someone for a bit who's really good at Monopoly. Let's head on back now, Jax."
*Not unlike the moving parts of a factory, every part of the force should be working at once for the unit to get things done in a more succinct fashion. So he would get back and establish the next part of that factory. The next time they were met with the pawns that were leading this force right now, he would see to it that they scored a decisive victory.*

Slypner
Fine, fine. it accepts without any protestation and recieves the blueprint file from Xion. The little inventor pauses for a moment, processing the desired item and the suitable pieces for it. I will send word with items I require once I properly assess the scope of the primary source in question. Slypner ejects and hands Xion the USB back, then begins writing some scripts on a computer, closing the virtual machine he had created down and creating a new one for his work.
Jax
Hearing his ally calling for departure, Jax nods but also gestures to the large red data in the center of the lab, and then twirls his finger to imply a thought about the whole room before finally pointing to his eyes, then each of the denizens in the room.
To raise another concern he motions a pause gesture, motions again at the whole lab, a finger walk, then points at Slypner, makes a sliced neck motion, then points to the red data again.

*Xion would take the USB back and direct his attention to Jax next, looking to the red data too. Unfortunately what Jax was asking was only something he could take a shot in the dark at. He had a few ideas, but the best he could come up with had no conclusive evidence on why that would be the truth of it all too.*
"My first guess is that what was watching us was the data itself. Once we accessed it and either Slypner comes out or whatever Slypner has become comes out and we dealt with it, I was hoping to have that feeling go away. Another conclusion is that someone else is watching. If it was Immortalis he would have sent someone to contend with us by now, so I'm willing to bet money that this is a new set of eyes if my guess on the data is wrong."
*Which was related to the assassination attempt as well. Immortalis owned Var, so if he was watching but didn't send Rosso or someone to deal with this before it even began, then it must have meant the observer was not Immortalis and was either the data itself or someone he hadn't been introduced to yet. Either way wouldn't change the approach that would be taken from here moving forward.*
"We'll keep observations here all the same. I'll have a copy sit here as well and along with some of the things we're making, have a decent defense set in the event someone does eventually come in. Other than that it's safer for me to make a new one at the Colony once we're back. Being made from scratch, we won't have to worry about any other complications and it skips a lot of steps like time and effort since I know how to do it."

Slypner
Before you leave. I first will need a few processors from here, and one of these as well. The more you bring the larger the effect will be though. Slypner says without looking to Xion, sending him the files directly instead of exactly what he's asking for.
Jax
Jax nods in agreement and flicks his fingers to open the gateway back to the colony. He makes a small gesture with his other hand and the ground beneath the red mystery data bulges and recesses as it picks up the data and "rolls" it over to Jax for him to pick up.
(He'll depart and close the gateway once Xion steps through) [Jax to Dark Colony] [xion to Dark Colony]

*He would look over the files in question, recalling where the one set was as Slypner had already been there to use one once so getting the rest was no problem. The other one was somewhere he needed to go have a chat with eventually, but before that... yeah, with the particular specs required he could provide this then. He would just need to go and pay somewhere a visit.*
"I'll have it all gathered up in a short amount of time."
*He had a way to cut out the middleman here too. He knew someone who wouldn't like it but they stepped on each other's toes regularly enough that it would be water under the bridge after a disgruntled sigh or some such. So he would head on through the gateway first as he marked having to loot more of Element City before they finished considering up the wreckage. He would say rebuilding, but they would have to do it the long and hard way right now due to the new phenomena and that meant it would be easy to head back to destroyed locations for a while. Or to just blow a hole right back in the place if they covered it up.*

Slypner
So soon? Slypner notes as the duo arrive.
Jax
Jax and xions clone arrive back in the lab, scuffs blemishing Jax's coat here and there. He dusts himself off an gestures for the clone to speak while Jax quickly sets about surveying the lab again, this time with more caution than before.

*Jax would be the muscle here given if a fight broke out he would largely be support but at least somewhat more useful than the Slypner that was here in a brawl. But now was explaining why they were back already too.*
"Didn't get to hunt yet, so this is a report about that red mystery data. Yeah, as it turns out that wasn't a Slypner inside of that data. It was an Alpha."
*He may have been nonchalant about it, but it was pretty clear that he knew that the clone was still able to tell the implications without him going through a whole spiel about it.*

Slypner
Slypner nodded along as it continued to work on the specifications for Xions device. Unfortunate... The doppelganger paused, and stood in frozen silence for a time. Processing the news, or perhaps it had given up on its existence now that its prime directive was seemingly permanently gone. Like a loop function with a exit.
... ...
...
It appears I am purposeless now. it mumbled aloud in a deadpan manner.

*It still sounded as deadpan as ever when he reached that conclusion. But that pause was enough to tell that it was the first time that there was something felt in the moment. This was a feeling of loss, of coming to the fact that everything that it had taken to get back here was for naught and without that, all purpose was lost. The destination had been reached but the conclusion that was arrived to was one that could cause listlessness to become even greater for someone who could barely feel anything to begin with.*
"I know it's difficult to self-motivate yourself in order to gain your own purpose. It's not a process that's built-in so it's hardly as simple as 'I make my own purpose now'. Even for creatures that don't need to have it put into them like humans or other sentient ones they can just as easily find themselves without a purpose and unable to find their way to getting one."
*He had seen a lot in his way coming up. From GuitarMan who wanted to become someone relevant, to becoming Ruin, who only served to please his malevolent intent. To Jax, who wanted to obtain his relic and now simply visit the unknown and better himself in the face of other hardened combatants. To the Colonists, who had let themselves be led by another when faced with a freedom they did not understand. To Hollow, who could hardly operate unless he was given a purpose from another. To Joker, who could only validate himself with his triumphs over others. And most of all, to himself. To the one who had begun as a broken husk that picked itself back up to attempt to live. In the face of his unfair reality back then, the first few steps were the most difficult of them all. And now it was someone else's turn to be faced with that very same difficulty, whether they were ready for it or not.*
"Even if you are your own master now, what can you do with that if you can't distinguish your own purpose? You can make it your goal to unearth the truth, to finding out what happened to the one who gave you a purpose. You can work on continuing where he left off or following your own designated route. You can do any number of these things. But before that you need to be able to breach the first step that stops you from all of it. You need to feel something, anything, to serve as the impetus. Even if its faint, like that feeling of loss that's so fleeting in that sea of apathy. Do your best to not drown it out, to let it be drowned out, and we can start somewhere."

Slypner
Xions words didn't fall on deaf ears. The little clone that nearly could understood it all and the supporting words put into context the situation and even let the artist reflect on the incomplete nature of the very program that its progenitor had created. Loss? Be it for only a moment it was felt all the same. The severity of its entire purpose being taken must have been too much for the suppression program.
They're artificially suppressed. For anything to come through even momentarily means there is a threshold. Perhaps it can be adjusted. it responded. That first step already being instinctively taken.

"Then that will be our first step. Properly adjusting that program of yours."
*It must have been something that had gone haywire to the point of suppressing everything rather than just some things. And then it still had a threshold that even it would fail against, just it was difficult to feel that much all at one time. He had an awareness of such programs due to two individuals he used to know, but how to change something like it was new to him too. Nothing ventured, nothing gained though. If it was the brute force approach, he did happen to get his hands on something that was nothing but a bundle of negative emotions if nothing else recently.*
"We could try the simple approach like overpowering it or the more technical approach of modifying the program itself among other potential options."

Slypner
The duplicate pondered for a moment. While he, or more specifically his creator, had crafted the program. It hadn't been intended to be overloaded or even be adjustable. Which meant the clones Slypner would create must have had erronious coding. An opportunity for this one, at least.
The software shouldn't have weaknesses, which means the defect is somewhere within my coding. To adjust the parameters we should first locate where the bug is and then exploit that.
The clone moves to a nearby terminal, leaving his schematics for Xions device where they were. At the new station he hooks up a few small cables to a small socket under his wrist and then begins typing and browsing through his own code... but curiously finding nothing out of the ordinary.
It's normal. Perhaps we should attempt to overload the program once more to find it.

"Got it."
*It made sense for that to be the case here. If it was an attempt to overload it, he had just the trick that should also be stunted enough given this clone's nature here. He would hold up his hand as the dark power would begin to manifest, as it was something he was well acquainted with keeping a rein on in the event the overload was a bit too intense in the negative direction. The sphere would drift slowly over to Slypner as it would start to add the negative emotions slowly and would likewise slowly intensify to see when it would reach the point where it would register instead of shooting it up all at once.*
