The Lab A private server attached to the now defunct Netfrica, specifically it's "Saul Kada" region. Through real world means it remains powered on but without connection, wired or otherwise, to the "outside world". It has server-side encryption protecting data as it enters and several authenticators to keep out unwanted "hacker"-types. This makes it a safe haven to those who are unable to crack the artistic professors own programming prowess.
The server centers on research. It houses numerous directories dedicated to topics ranging from darkchips and their advanced forms, navi structural programming, and Dimensional Areas, to name a few. It also has stored a repository of information on high profile navis that the studious navi had encountered or heard of in the past.
The "index" or landing of the server is a square metallic room that's illuminated by dim blue lights with a singular passage that descends a few steps before opening up into a large ash and black tiled octagonal room with two neon-blue lined walkways that intersect perpendicularly in the rooms center. The walls are dotted with a slightly brighter blue lighting across the floor and roof trimmings. The walls are littered with cables that protrude into the lab and regress away.
The walkways break the room up into 4 sections each with intricate instruments and displays dedicated to a specific field of study. At the far side of the lab are a few steps that lead up to a smaller 5th section with a shut off monitor and no loose scraps of paper or data to give a hint as to its purpose. It seems whatever this station is for is deserving of extra security.

Slypner [From Here] After years of wandering and dedication, Sylpner finally arrived at the place all of it are inevitably required to return to. It knew what to do and who to go to, but for a brief moment the duplicate took a moment to ponder the ease with which the lumbering navi was able to access this place. He'll have to upgrade the protections. It states plainly while scanning the lab for a specific individual.

*He had followed along now that the instructions were set. And to have a fully functional lab like this at his disposal meant that he had managed to accomplish the conditions he needed along with having Slypner now on the very likely "KIA" list. So as he took in the scenery he would respond to Slypner just the same.*
"You could say we have a few cards extra in our decks in our particular faction than most."
*And those cards would be about to expand further soon. But he was expecting someone to greet them not too long after they arrived even if Jax got them in just now. And if they didn't then it meant that the original found his own way out but never got into contact with the clone? ...No, that wouldn't make sense. So what had once been a Xion who was beginning to relax was one that was beginning to put his guard back up once again.*

Jax
Jax arrives just after Xion and takes a short lap of the lab to take in the scenery. Technology was never his strong suite. So while interesting to look at the complex machinery and machinations of this facility were more or less lost on him, but perhaps he could learn something.
Slypner
Slypner continued its scan, joining Xion and Jax in their tour of the facility. While this was its lab the way Slypner moved about the facility felt uncertain, as if pieces had been moved since its last visit. The little scholar took in information and paused as if noting it for the first time, rather than something it had penned. Where is..?

The facility felt peaceful on the surface from the outsider looking in. But for the many years that had passed since and with the scholar's own knowledge, the signs were becoming all too clear now that something had certainly gone awry here. Something that shouldn't have happened given all of the incryptions and the fact that all connection had been lost. It was why Slypner had spent all of this time coming back in order to unite back with the one who had been lost. The one who this lab had belonged to that had used the split to get this far.
Where was Slypner? And was why there a sinking feeling that they were not alone here in this place? The answer to both, perhaps, could be found with the curious red mystery data that sat in the lab now. And depending on their experiences, they would probably recognize exactly what that particular red hue was from seeing it numerous times.

Jax
Unaware that this red data was anything out of the ordinary for this facility Jax pays it no mind, opting instead to continue scanning for the individual they were here to seek, and skimming loose data off of terminals as he goes. Though an aura of unease keeps him guarded, he gives Xion a side glance in a means to assure his comrade of this tension.
Slypner
While the lab itself felt brand new to it, Slypner knew one thing clearly did not belong... the red data. This is new. The data coloration is even different than the standard array. What could this even possess?

*Well that was curious. A sole mystery data that was also called new by the person who owned the place. And by that he recognized that the color was just not a good sign despite his eyes sharing it. So he would just vocalize what he knew the others would consider when it came to erring on the side of caution on this one.*
"Every red version of that data that I've seen has been a bomb of some sort. One a fiery version and the other a much bigger problem than the fiery version. Unless it starts to unlock itself, just leave it alone."
*Plus this one no curious individuals, of which he could name two that he literally worked with, would see to access it regardless of these things. In this case he supposed before he could ask for any continued services they should start doing a little more digging, moving forward to be more prepared in case there were any legitimate traps here as well.*
"Is there any possibility that you recorded any footage to save here? The recording could show us what last happened here if the feed was on. At the very least to Slypner himself."
*But not who did the deed, no doubt. He was all too aware that not only could the feed be fabricated due to something in their possession but they also just were not observed by the media itself. So he didn't need to know who did it so much as what happened instead.*

Slypner
Yes. Due to the nature of the work that goes on here recordings are made and stored in case they need to be studied. They are accessible from any of the terminals. Slypner stops at a terminal in the closer left section to the landing and begins pulling up records. The footage is recorded in a few methods aside from the standard video and audio. Slypner arbitarily selects a year ago today and gradually speeds up the playback looking for any major events.

It would be a good time to begin the search, as that would still cover about the time that Saul Kada had been destroyed during the Juno Incident and left Slypner in his isolation. And would be when it was almost alarming because while nothing happened at first, as he sped through the footage of his isolated original he would eventually see a figure that seemed to tunnel through. It wasn't by a unique means however, as it was something Slypner should be well-acquainted with along with Xion. The very means that they had used to get to their goal that would then lead them back here no less. It was able to infer something that they knew as a result:
The ones who were entering knew that Slypner was locked away here and the exact coordinates to get there, much as Xion had been required to fill in the remaining specifics for why no one could get back to the Dark Colony after it had been removed so abruptly by the Titans that had worked against it. And the figure that stepped through was to no doubt Xion's surprise visible, though it would be one that Jax would be able to know after having met them.
This was the one that he had faced in that dark space that defeated the Tectonic Terror, Var of the Four Reaver Kings. And given the ability held by this individual, it was all too clear why he would be sent after a non-combatant that no one knew of instead of someone else when he was an engine of war to such a degree that he could bend another to his own will.
It wasn't an overt show of force. That wasn't required from Var for Slypner. Var simply moved his blade arm twice to do the deed of bisection in footage that was taken from what appeared to be five months ago. A month after Juno's defeat and all his forces had supposedly gone silent as a result. And just like that the Avatar of War walked back out the way he came, the entrance closing behind him just as it had opened with his apparent mission fulfilled as a result. But something was left behind as he did so, something that the King had dropped off from his free hand. It was a chip of sorts that could be used to go inside of a computer to analyze what was on it.

Slypner
At Sylpners death the duplicate responds with a simple Mmm. Suppression tech is truly something.
Based on the timestamp of the video this occurred well before the current "plague" the internet at large finds itself in. Theoretically he should be able to reconstruct his form as usual, yes? Why has this not occurred? It questions the room, before making one more request of Jax.
Please bring me that chip. I'm going to continue the footage, as this red data hasn't presented itself.
Jax
Jax gradually made it to the screen and upon seeing Var his gaze slightly intensified. a twinge of recognition, but no shame. He can been defeated by the being fair and square and would hopefully have a second chance at this warrior king.
At Slypners request, Jax goes and acquires the chip left by Var.

*Jax's reaction was enough to let him know who this was on the screen. From all the second-hand accounts he received, this must have been the one that caused them to have to pick up his friend. And subsequently some time ago he was also the one who served as the assassin for this job here. How he pulled that off made sense, given that the unaware Slypner would have no way of knowing about the tool that they had likewise taken advantage of. But it was a question that made a whole lot of sense when all was said and done as Jax picked up the chip to help further their discovery of this situation as he crossed his arms and thought about it.*
"He should have been able to do that over time unless they're periodically doing him in. As far as I know that particular individual isn't the one who would instigate it, unless his arrival here did that all on its own. It could even be that he was one of the early tests for how to make it work in an area of isolation."
*After all it wouldn't spread from here. It had nowhere to go after all. So if they used Slypner as a test for it, no one would be the wiser. With what he learned at the Bermuda Maze they had their hands in things for quite a great number of years. Was Slypner really one of their only early tests? ...No, that's unlikely. But it was likely still a test of whether or not that Var individual could see it through. He had, with a bonus as well it appeared.*

As Slypner continued to go through the footage, he would find the thing he was next looking for: the red mystery data. It wasn't placed there by someone else, rather it had spawned in over the course of time. With Slypner's knowledge, he would be able to put together that it had spawned in about the time it would have taken for the original to have reconstructed himself. Was that to say that when he had performed the deed, the form he took was different than that of his backup data instead? Something must have gone wrong during either the reconstruction or the deletion that took place to begin with. And as Jax would deliver the chip to Slypner, it would look like an ordinary battle chip on the surface save for the crowning piece of the chip was more akin to an eye than not. But it possessed an audio file and video footage to also be accessed if so desired.

*Now that just made things even more curious. And while he could probably try and talk Slypner out of not interacting with it still... he had to cave himself and admit that doing so was more important than not doing so. ...Should he go to the OEL and access it there? No, they probably already had him on a list and he didn't feel like aggravating that simply to appease both his amusement and curiosity at the same time. But he would rather not open it here since this was still necessary and he otherwise needed somewhere that wouldn't have a ripple-effect across the Net. So he was truly left with two options, one of which he wasn't sure was a good idea. So he would just have to level with the only available option here.*
"We'll access it back at the Colony. I'd rather do it at the Bermuda Maze but that puts us in other crosshairs at the same time, so no can do. Leaving it unopened won't give us any answers."

Slypner
Slypner takes hold of the chip and allows the footage to continue while they speak. Keeping one eye on it as he addresses the duo. I see. What of the chip? Perhaps it holds some clue?
Jax
Without a means to contribute to the conversation, Jax remains there, still vigilant from the uneasy feeling of being watched

*That was a good question to ask as well. Again, it was probably better to use something that wasn't here so that it stayed as spotless and isolated as could be. That again left two options available to them, and he was going to default to the first this time he figured.*
"We should--..."
*But he found himself hesitating for once, the orbs that were his eyes narrowing ever so slightly. He could feel that old tugging sensation again, nagging at him whenever he thought back to that place. And so he would shake his head with a sigh, adding one more thing on his to-do list.*
"It'd take me time to set up anything else, so we'll have to investigate that while we're here now. Rip the scab off and get it over with, as they say."
