(Only navis with appropriate clearance or high level of power to overcome the v13 guard may enter The Heap, which is set to Security level Yellow. Being higher version than the guard is sufficient enough to overpower him should you decide to force your way into The Heap.)
[smear:FF2222]*As Embera lead Genesis and Plagueman to The Heap, she found herself so lost in small-talk, avoiding any sensitive topics until she knew she was away from itching ears. She was talking about nothing important when a voice called out to her, demanding identification.*[/smear:FFFFFF]
Heap Security: Halt! Identify yourselves!
*It was at this command that Embera finally noticed that a security checkpoint was set up. This was unusual, she noted, as a lot of navis came in and out of here regularly. Stepping forward, Embera produced her Electopion Geothermal ID, raising an eyebrow as she did.*
Embera: Care to explain what's going on with the blockade you got here?
*Seeing the ID, the guard was visibly flustered and embarrassed as he bowed profusely to Embera.*
Security: A million pardons Miss Embera! When you left The Heap to investigate Element City, and Geothermal disconnected after New Life fell, we tried to keep things as secure as possible in your absence! Please, please come on in!
*Nodding in understanding, Embera moved in, gesturing Genesis and the Plagueman collective to continue following her. As they made their way through the first few hundred feet past the gate, the bustling noise that gave The Heap its signature industrial cacophony soon filled the air. Despite the front...out front...the people here seemed to be no worse for wear. It wasn't long before Embera was spotted by passersby looking up from their errands or work. Soon, people could be heard cheering for Embera's return, with even the child navis jumping around her. One brave, rather rambunctious child jumped near Embera unable to contain their energy.
Child: Miss Embera! Miss Embera! Who's your friends? What's the ball? Where'd you go? Miss Embera I missed you so much!
*Embera gave a hearty laugh as the child bounced around. Reaching out her hand, she hoisted the kid up, letting him sit atop her shoulders. Continuing her walk to the top of the mountain, holding the kid steady with the computer in her free hand, Embera mused about with the child.*
Embera: I had to make sure my friends were okay. I heard they were near that big crash in Element City and I got worried. I see I made you guys worry being gone for so long, too! Have you been staying out of trouble?
*Starstruck to be riding on Embera's shoulders, the child navi was so proud and eager to speak, or rather show off, to Embera. Producing a buster with what appeared to be a giant fist for it, the youth took aim at the rock face.*
Child: Yeah! My Operator and I were instructed to make a shield breaking buster for buster-coding class, and we came up with this! watch!....Oof!
[smear:24ffad]*The fist was sent flying with a loud BANG! as the recoil sent the kid nearly flying off of Embera's shoulders. Holding the rascal steady, Embera let out big laugh again, visibly impressed at the cracked stones as the fist rolled slightly away.[/smear:FF2222]
Embera: Wow! That's incredible! Keep working at it and you'll be top in your class! Hey, we're getting close to the top, and it gets really hot up there. Why don't you take your buster and head down to the workshop. I bet if you make a good pair of shoes, you can fire the buster without getting blown away!
*The child nodded and gave Embera a big hug before running back down into the main part of town, excitement audibly fading as it was just the three of them again. Cresting the volcano mouth, Embera moved towards the Electopian Geothermal Security Cube, and pressed her ID into it, unlocking it.*
Embera: Plagueman, the alarm will trigger if any anomalous data enters into here. Would you mind waiting out here while I do some paperwork and talk to Genesis? I have some friends that would love your company.
*Embera then whistled, and after a short rumbling, out from the volcano came a large green Spikey virus carrying a two-toned black and white staff in its mouth. Dropping the staff, black and white flames swirled around the staff, forming a bright white cloak, with jet-black hands grasping it tightly. Excited to see her again, Scruffy raised its head and began dooting joyously, the Trumpy it swallowed seemingly merged with its code.*

*He was carrying his newly acquired ball from PlagueMan on the way here. He was listening to Embera and contributing on the way here, as it kept him from going into another spiral of thoughts. Once they reached security however, he knew he would have to let her handle it. The only form of identification he carried was his face at this point. It was thankfully becoming less popular these days but aside from that it made dealing with identity checks a problem. It was also thankful that Embera had grown up and didn't stay a complete rebel, because PlagueMan probably didn't do good at identification as well. Why they were asking as such made sense as well. Their primary defense was out so they started to take precautions against any coming storms.*
*He followed her lead inside and was at first met with what he expected of the area. Then he was met with what he wasn't expecting from the area. The people here were fine and on top of that cheering for Embera's arrival. It was something that could be put into perspective by someone who had known her for as long as he had. The actual tyrant who commanded a proper amount of fear in the past with her flagrant abuse of power she had in the past. Now she had people who looked up to her and admired her, who she looked after. A true and proper home.*
"You've come so far, Embera."
*Years ago he recalled her wanting to accomplish something for NapalmMan by using the Revolution as the stepping stone for it. It had caused some growing tensions between her and other members when he allowed it for reasons they also didn't quite agree with. Today she didn't have to earn anyone's approval nor be concerned about anyone's acceptance. She had the adoration of many now, a smile coming to his face. He couldn't help but be happy for her, proud of how far she had come. She had accomplished even more than she realized no doubt, something that he knew all too well. He set down the ball he had been carrying, counting on Scruffy to not use it as a new toy.*
"You can take the time to get a load off, PlagueMan. We'll be in for a large-scale battle later, so relax while you can."

PlagueMan stayed silent the majority of his time within Genesis on the treck towards the Heap, but felt a sense of adoration as he watched Embera interacting with the smaller Navis. This feeling was only further amplified by the flooding of emotions he felt from his host, and couldn't help but wonder more about this strange being of flames. That she would invite him into her home, knowing the potential threat he caused, both delighted him and frightened him.
The little one's comment got his own mind reeling, however, lost in a tangent not unlike what Genesis goes through. An operator? He could not help but recall his own memories of the man that was to be his operator - the man that personally designed him - and how he fights every day to not fall into the function of the code that he was designed to follow. This child seemed so excited to be working alongside his operator to do something, and he could only dream about what it would be like to have an operator that he could feel happy to be with. In some ways, he connected the feelings back to his preference for a host. His operator could never hope to sustain him in a way that he would prefer, and, so, he finds someone else adept at using his abilities.
Getting to the crest of the Volcano, PlagueMan felt the heat rising, and felt his own code rapidly adapting to withstand it. This pulled him out of his reverie, and PlagueMan perked up as Embera said his name. Watching as Genesis dropped the sphere of his other collective, PlagueMan realized that, once again, he was being asked to stay behind. He did his best to not let it bother him and silently extracted himself from Genesis. Byte by byte, little streams of red flowed from Genesis' body and compressed into the sphere of data already floating nearby, the only remnants of his being within Genesis the small pang of his own self-doubt. When? When would the world be willing to accept that he was more than just his file integrity? He did not dwell on these thoughts for long, as they always turned sour, and instead focused on the very excited viruses that Embera had called in.
Remembering a new friend all his own, PlagueMan unveiled his sphere like a pinata and released the prize within, dropping his newest acquired friend, the virus from underneath New Life, onto the ground. Compressing himself ever further, PlagueMan nestles himself down within his virus' code, instead, finding the strange code more hospitable than even Genesis'. The signature red veil of his presence permeated the Virus, as he manifested next to it as a red sphere of data.
"Viruses . . . such a strange breed of creatures. I must say, I think I could grow to like them. The docile ones, that is."
The scutzer moved around, eying the nearby viruses as well as the mass of red that had healed it earlier. Moving its now restored legs to approach the mass of red data, the little virus flared up its own green aura as a sort of greeting, PlagueMan's own red veil intensifying alongside it. SKRRRR!

*Gesturing thanks to Plagueman, Embera lead Genesis into her office, a connecting room leading to the Home Network of the Electopian Geothermal Home Intranet. Outside, Cloaks investigated the red sphere and the scutzer. It never met a virus like this, and, although its cloak hid any expression, the curiosity couldn't be doubted. Scruffy on the other hand, happily jumped around, nudging the virus, constantly "tagging it" with its snout, and trumpeting upwards, the off-key music making the virus feel more vitalized than even before. After nudging it once more, the green spikey hopped back slightly, waiting for the scutzer to respond.
Inside the office, Embera took a seat at her desk and began compiling a message of some sort, looking dutifully at work, apologizing to Genesis.*
Embera: I'm sorry, I have a message to send, and I cannot send it through my own private channel. aaaaannd....sent!
*Getting back up from her chair, Embera reached into her suit and produced the Somnium Cross again, its glow absolutely brilliant compared to the last time she showed him. It seemed to be responding to her power well.
Embera: After we parted ways from here last time, I went to the OEL to investigate this accessory. While I was there, I found out that this was no simple cross, Genesis. This thing.....This is the mind and core of Eon. I've put my Solar energy into it, giving him more clarity and awareness of the situations at hand. We talked for a little bit. He said that despite being trapped in this thing, he feels free from his programming, and asked me to keep him safe. Well, actually. He said he would rather I destroy him than let the OEL put their hands on him again. I can only assume you can relate to those sentiments, so I decided to keep him with me and make a new friend in him, as well.
*Embera appeared excited as she regaled Genesis with her revelations. Soon that gave way to a crack in her joy, slowly being swallowed up by a glum demeanor. She averted her eyes, and looked at the ground, slightly haunted again.*
Embera: I found Caliga again... He was near the Forest network when I spotted him antagonizing a young boy, he's called Nightshade. He possessed this young girl, very cute, almost too pure to be connected to that monster. She looked clawed and beaten, like Nightshade tried to maul her. He said he was a juuka, I thought he could get her but...he was powerless. It was almost like he was defeated before he fought. When I realized I needed to act it was too late. I just...
*Tears welled again, Embera's voice cracked slightly as she relived those events.*
Embera: I just tried to soothe her last seconds before he took her completely, I was powerless too. I don't know what to do, but I just want to destroy her and get that girl back.
*Taking a few seconds to give her emotions her due, Embera wiped her eyes, and continued with her debrief.*
Embera: I'm sorry...One last thing, I'm in possession of Purgatory, but Zane seemed to have another sword I had never seen before. It was a bit more ornate, but whenever he brandished it, I felt an immense heat and foreign pressure. It was unlike anything else, and it was only when he drew it. I don't know if this was power he always hid from us, or if the sword itself is responsible for it. All I do know, is that Resonance was almost completely obliterated as soon as one attack connected, and Serix soon after. I don't know what's going on, but I just want my brother back, Genesis.

*Once inside the office, the vagrant scanned around with his eyes. Not out of caution but instead out of curiosity. Seeing that this was Embera's place of business. She even had a business email so she couldn't just send it through private ones now. And he remembered the Cross that she was showing him too. It had been a source of nightmares for her for quite some time. She was terrified of it and didn't even want to rest because of the torments it inflicted. Another sign of progress. And the news was something else, his eyes looking upward as two names that brought back the recollection of many faces and many things.*
"...The OEL and Eon, huh?"
*The Eternal Endgame. A battle he had fought for self-preservation and for others. They didn't have the ability to contend with him without their collective efforts. And while it hadn't gone according to plan they had managed to win. The problem was the fight immediately led to a more ridiculous fight after that. Not ridiculous in scale, but ridiculous because of the reasoning behind it. Back then he was embittered enough to even consider that triumphing over Eon was a mistake. He wasn't in the best of places during those times. But his eyes went back to Embera, smiling instead.*
"He never deserved to be destroyed in the first place because of their folly. Rambunctious as you are, you'll make a good friend for him."
*He didn't need to ask why it was the Solar Empress who managed to happen upon the Somnium Cross. To him all that mattered was that it had caused her problems and now she had managed to move beyond those problems. She turned her hurdle into something better, his own approach to the setbacks he encountered in life and some of his secrets of today. Others would be terrified of the possibility of Eon's return, of staring down the barrel of the Endgame once again. But he wasn't counted among those. He had raised a brow when her excitement started to die down... until it made too much sense as to why that was.*
"Caliga..."
*Nightshade was a name he wasn't hearing for the first time. He had caught wind of him from the doctor too. But from the sounds of it, unlike the Overlord himself, no love was lost between him and Caliga's latest line of victims. That jester who festered in the dark. His own encounter with him served as the spark for his relationship with Embera going forward. She had seen him at his most vulnerable that day. And ever since he'd been forced to look for him. It wasn't as though he had given up to this day. Rather that he had chosen another approach. One day the clown would decide to make his grand purpose known when he decided to act on it. And that would be the day that the Black Diamond would meet his end. Unfortunately until then he would be able to toy with others at his leisure, stepping forward and placing a hand on Embera's shoulder.*
"Brute force doesn't work very well against him, something I'm noticing is a trend lately. If we don't have any other way to help her, the least we can do is cut her strings."
*Like the time with Megami as well. Better to break the puppet than to have them dance on his whims. The last part of the debriefing was something he had come face to face with. He was so focused on attacking the NIA at the time that he hadn't even put it together when he had fought him with the Armored Destroyer. The striking power of the sword was the real deal and he hadn't been putting much effort into it at all. Zane wasn't someone who did one or two devastating swings. He could do that of course, but his specialty was in a barrage. He sealed the deal by unleashing a shower of blows that wiped out his opposition. And Rosso had yet to do that at all. He wasn't even trying against anyone he had fought so far. They got more out of him than he expected, but the Pyroclasm had dismantled them.*
"No need to be sorry. I understand. But Zane's actions bring a lot into question. Did he always have this power? Why hide it for so long if so? Why use it counter to his own dogma? ...No, I suppose it isn't entirely opposed to his way of thinking. When I fought him, I was the aggressor. Short of Resonance, all his marks are people I can imagine him standing up against before."
*Zane had always voiced discontent with how Genesis approached things. Sometimes more vocally depending on the scale that Genesis was operating on at the time. The Destroyer and Zane had always been in a rocky relationship since their first encounter, something that everyone shared in common so that was nothing new. And Serix was... basically a non-threatening Embera in her early years. Zane had his talk with her about that too, so no reason he wouldn't remind Serix that she was off course. The outlier was Resonance. Zane would fight him if they stood opposed to each other, but that was during the Revolution. The Generational would never be someone the Inferno Knight would gun down in other circumstances unless he was misreading his intentions. He would silently count his blessings that Embera had possibly disarmed a weapon of his for the time being. It wouldn't get any easier than that.*
"If we want to get to the bottom of this, we're going to have to find him. The only tell that I have on him is that he's going by Rosso and working with the NIA right now. So I can only surmise that he would show himself if we acted out in their domain. We'll do our best to get through to him and bring him back."

PlagueMan watched as the two viruses began playing with the new addition to his own little family, he couldn't help but feel the swell of happiness that he had been very much missing. The whole of the world was in danger, sure, but, not everything was at a loss.
Scutzer instinctively took some careful steps away from the Spikey as it began tagging at it, flaring up its aura in response to some perceived attack. PlagueMan hovered in carefully behind it, almost to reassure it, and calmed the power of his own around it. The Scutzer seemed to respond to his emotions, and, as the Spikey bounced backward, the Scutzer came scuttling forward and playfully - but not at all gently - rammed its oblong head into the bigger virus.

*The Spikey took a roll back before quickly bounding to its feet. Letting out a howl, that would only be registered as more trumpeting, all the viruses, and even plagueman would feel a boost in vitality as it continued bouncing around with the Scutzer, joyous in the roughhousing, much to the dismay of the rather anxious Mettfire, Cloaks. The silent virus waved its hands and erected a pillar to hide behind, hoping Embera would hurry up and calm things down for it.*
*Inside the room, Embera finished up more paperwork, before logging the events down for her company, before taking the file and sending it through a secured box into the company's intranet. Turning to Genesis, and taking his hand, she gave him a sincere look again, before hugging him with her other arm.*
Embera: Genesis, thank you for everything. I'm so grateful to have met you, and to have you in my life the way you are. I hope that, when we get to the bottom of this, that I can help you find the peace you need to be alive again. I feel like you've neglected yourself for a long time, and I want you to know that your feelings are a priority for me. Now let's go grab Plagueman and get things situated with Zane, There's a whole lotta sense I gotta smack into him.
*She gave a soft chuckle of optimism, as deep down, she felt that perhaps the brother she had found was just a facade, using his demeanor to keep peace, and finally just doing things his way. She didn't hold those feelings for long before coming out and seeing the group enjoying themselves.*
Embera: Alright boys, alright. Cloaks! front and center!
*Dutifully, the virus emerged from behind the stone pillar and met Embera in a rather tight stature.*
Embera: I want you to resume lookout on the mouth of the volcano. You and Scruffy continue making this place seem as dangerous as possible, but don't let anyone get hurt, okay? Scruffy! You're gonna hop back in the volcano and keep everyone safe, right?
*Moving from the Scutzer, Scruffy acknowledged Embera's command, and moved over to Cloaks, who by now has retreated into its staff. Taking the staff in its mouth, Scruffy leapt back into the volcano, causing some small rumblings, and spewing smoke out of the crater.*
Embera: Thanks for looking after them, Plagueman, I appreciate it. So, Genesis, I haven't been outside of Electopia in a long time, where's the NIA located?

*Finding the peace he needed to be alive again? That he neglected himself for so long... he hadn't thought to look at it like that after so long. And it irked him somewhat, but not by much. He had come to terms with himself, yet he couldn't help but ponder it. To ponder when he started accepting that he was a catalyst for war and peace was ever distant as a result of that. It might have played into why he stayed as a vagrant rather than settling down. He left it as a fleeting thought now. He didn't need to wind up wrapped up in his own head again. She probably had a better idea of how to pull that off for him than he did for himself. Especially considering he hadn't thought about peace until she mentioned it herself.*
"The feeling's mutual, Embera."
*If he hadn't met her he would be a lot of things. None of them were things that were better off for him. Keeping PlagueMan with them was still better than just leaving him behind. It would take time to convince others of that in its entirety, but he couldn't take him into a place that frequently sent off warning flags for him. Not at the Heap anyway. He wouldn't care if he did it at other places. He brought a smile to his face recalling the Netopian Border incident, or at least parts of it. Nothing of value was lost when that ultimately got brought down by someone else instead of himself.*
"Are you ready, PlagueMan? Before we hit Netopia, because the time I spent there was largely looking out for the NIA, there's a detour I want to make. I did tell him I would pay him a visit. Psyche won't mind a few more visitors on top of myself."
*He wanted to do this first. Because the NIA as far as he knew wasn't situated in just one outpost. That meant once they set off they would be hitting Netopia on a pretty hefty scale. Limiting it to the NIA's bases would be the priority, but if they had to hit more than that to get the job done then it was what it was. He would wait to become the host of the plague again before he set off for the destination. It would be simpler for him to arrive than the others. He actually got a proper invitation after all.*

The viruses continued playing, and PlagueMan lost himself for a moment to his own thoughts. He watched as tendrils of his code expanded outwards, tentatively, carefully. As the loud toot sounded and he felt Genesis and Embera return, PlagueMan looked up, quickly withdrawing his tendrils as he collected himself. The Scutzer looked up at Embera as she came and scooped up its new play partners, rising up on its legs indignantly and flaring its life aura.
PlagueMan laughed and moved in behind the little virus, scooping up a piece of dirt, nearby. Wrapping his body around it, he compacted and crushed it within his dense pocket of bugged data, and presented it as a bug frag to the little guy. It happily gobbled up the little treat, and PlagueMan scooped it up, back into its protective sphere.
For all of his bad days lately, he really needed moments like these.
"Very well. I am ready to go. I do not know any of these individuals, but, you haven't kept yourself in any unkind company thus far."

After returning to the satellite and looking over his options, the crimson titan's next course of action seemed obvious. He could tune into what his target was doing from his satellite, thanks in part to its connections to the Net, with further thanks to the new abilities he possessed. He recalled that his new mark was rather attached to this place, and decided that he could do much more than just wait for her to make a move. He could make a move for her to respond to.
He appeared out of a fracture in the Net, which slowly closed itself behind him. As he approached the guard, Joker blinked and was simply on the other side of the gate from him. The guard looked around, confused and befuddled. He had no reason to actually assault the guard, as that would upset his preferred way of handling all of this; regardless, however, he presumed walking into the space would get some sort of attention.
Walking up the steep incline of the mountain of rubble, Joker set out towards the building at the top of the hill and looked around at the community that seemed intent on eventually welcoming their protector home. He saw weary eyes glancing at him, a monolith of power and intrigue, but, he passed them by. He felt his destructive tendencies spiking as he walked past them, but knew it was currently in his best interest to maintain civility.
That seemed to be his new best interest in any situation. He paused at an overall sparsely populated clearing in order to just stand for a moment, looking around, before he knelt down onto his legs to wait.

"Awfully far from home, aren't you? Or are you just inbetween right now? I suppose the Ripple hasn't reached you yet then."
It was a voice that came from an individual sitting on a pile of accumulated junk, shrouded in a brown and ragged cloak with a hooded covering his face. All but a lone crimson light that seemed to be coming from his right eye. He stayed seated, but there was a chill in the air. It didn't need to be said that feeling a chill in this area was more than just a little uncanny given its location. And the glow of the eye felt almost familiar to Joker, as if he had seen it before.

Joker turned as this voice suddenly piped up, the first of the denizens to actually speak to him. However, as he looked at the figure cloaked in brown and seated upon trash, he could not help but immediately notice the glowing red eye from underneath. He frowned to himself, as he did not want this meeting to turn south, and wondered if he had chanced upon a target of theirs when he singled out the girl in flames.
Another one that spoke as though he knew who he was. Joker was tired of being known by people that he knew nothing about, but, as was currently his lot, he kept his tongue and just turned his attention back ahead of him, considering his next words carefully. "I am a far way from home, yes. Whatever this 'ripple' is, no, it has not reached me nor my abode.
"I have not received any specific orders as to what I am to do, and so have been following through with my own preferred course of action. I hope that is not of concern?"

So he wouldn't be as chatty with him as he was with the former most advanced creation, was it? Well, that was fair enough with all things considered. An analyst never had much to say for that they did not know, so this was more of the same. First he would move to get them on the same page, holding his left hand out. An image of a lake formed, showing that there were ripples across the water's surface. They spread across the entire lake without stopping, as if to illustrate what the ripple effect looked like with the lake as the starting point.
"No, it's not that it has not reached your abode or you. It just has not 'reached' you. He's probably still talking is all. When he's done, you'll hear your orders even if both of you aren't listening."
And the 'pebble' thrown to cause those ripples was something that went both ways, the image dissolving away. The ominous gleam from the eye did not lessen, nor did the chill that filled the area around them. There were no feeling of hostility about it or aggression however.
"As for your course of action being a concern of mine, if it were, I would have said something already. If it becomes a concern you'll be the first to know, like how you know that I happen to stay around these parts. So whether I become a concern of yours is up to you."

The gigantean navi narrowed his gaze at the stranger, realizing he was acting a lot different from the lot Joker has been used to. He decided not to worry much on it, aside from the fact that he still wondered just what this one was doing here. If it had anything to do with his current project, Joker would be in a bad spot - he wanted a civil encounter, and he was also far more concerned about his current project than whatever they would set him on.
He shrugged. "So long as I can follow through with my own agenda while following these new orders, that should be no problem. While I will still hold up my end of the bargain, if something of more interest calls to my attention, I will not promise my undivided focus."

It was only as Joker finished that the gleam seemed to diminish ever so slightly, glancing away for a moment. There was nothing there where he was looking, no one nearby either. Perhaps he was merely just gazing off into the empty space? But he responded all the same.
"Peas of a pod, the two of you."
No problems so long as it didn't clash with their agenda and they had no other priorities. Small wonder they were going to clash. They were just the sort to be civil on the surface but savages underneath. Civility was merely a means to an end and the savage was the only nature that remained. The intellect it possessed just allowed it to judge which approach was optimal for which occasion. He didn't look back to Joker, but he kept going.
