...why can't anyone just fight one-on-one anymore?
This.. was not good. The dome of power performed well enough against the boxer Navi, but this? In the split second that he has, Challenger once again slams a fist into the ground and breaks off a gigantic slab of the pavement below. He then holds it up as a shield and falls flat on his back to minimize the effects of the hell-fire. It doesn't take long at this point for the blaze to fall like a nearing star, dropping fire like rain across the area. Challenger braces, but still feels the intense, all-encompassing heat as Rosso's attack scorches the earth, both literally and figuratively.
Challenger weathers the storm, but two things are clear. One, he's already taken substantial damage; a fact that outright vexes him. And two; he's ill-equipped for this kind of a fight. At this point he's little more than a liability, and he knows it. Feeling ourtight hatred for this feeling, he clenches his teeth and looks to Genesis, speaking words that he'd hoped to never say.
Challenger: Can't do it, lad. I'm already dead-weight to 'ya.
Challenger pushes off the hunk of nearly melted pavement and falls back, looking over his shoulder in anger as he does. Despite being one of the physically strongest Navis on the net, he finds himself totally out-classed in this situation.
Great, it already knew. Resonance can't help but panic a little inside, not even noticing the rising heat due to his own sweat. So many options here, but any of them could also become nothing more than a sarcophagus if the creature makes the right choice. As he racks his brain, Resonance can still hear the creature's shrill shriek in the back of his head.
...shriek...
It's not over yet. Suddenly, Resonance re-gains his wits and looks around. The beast's own utterances suddenly reminded Resonance of something; up until now he'd been playing this game on his opponent's terms. Time to change the home-field advantage. Reaching out his hand, Resonance charges up a bright blue energy into his palm, which he then releases as an omni-directional sonic pulse of ever-increasing magnitude. The sonic grenade rises and shakes the entire area, not only lighting up his positioning in the area, but also effecting the area's lighting. One by one, the lights in the extended area of the the castle shatter, making the castle as black as pitch. In this omni-present shadow, Resonance's shineless armor fades away, leaving him nearly invisible.
He'd tried to escape this beast using light, but now is the time to face it with shadow and sound....

*Noticing the mirror, it meant Zaven had spotted who they were set for. Catching sight of Rosso wasn't something that he could do with any other method but his very own eyes. So he had asked Zaven to keep track of the area and let him know when he saw something strange coming. And when he did, that let him know to start bracing himself for what was to come from the enforcer who was confident enough to face off with him. But to say that he was confident might have been an understatement given the opening move that he utilized right then and there. He manipulated both the earth and air to add to his defenses, holding out his hand as a black sphere of spatial power folded over it as well. And then the blaze set the very world on fire.*
*Nothing else had survived the blast save for the two attackers, and Challenger was no good right now. He'd tell him to wait for an opening to strike, but that first navi would be keeping an eye out for that no doubt. So the defenses fell, Genesis himself sweating a bit under this intense heat as he stood in a world with nothing but fire all around him. This was fine too. No need for Challenger to go out in this sort of fashion when he could still be good for later.*
"It just means I have to fully commit to this now."
*He pressed his hand against the ground, the very ground that the defenders stood on transforming under them to launch them upward. He had made it twist and spiral, aiming to drag them directly to him instead of keeping them at a distance to bring them to a more favorable fighting location. As they were doing so, cords would begin to shoot out from the ground that was bringing them over as well, black ones. But what they were for could be anyone's guess.*

So they weren't carcasses just yet huh? This was fine. He was preparing for another shot when the land itself turned against them, Rosso jumping off of it to avoid it as it kept pushing the rest of them forward. But when the black cords started to launch out did his glare intensify, aiming his arm as a wave of fire shot out to burn away the ones that came for Mistair. It caught some of the defense force, causing him to immediately engulf them in flames as well. Once it caught them that was it, so no point in bothering trying to save them from then onward. Mistair didn't approve of that approach, but to say it was a required approach wasn't a lie either.
"Get out of the way. You'll just end up as targets from here on out. I can take care of him."
They were started to retreat thanks to his new approach to the fight, but Rosso shot straight at him instead. From his wrists surged blazing claws, lashing out with both as they tore across the hellish sea of flames that was their battlefield. But what would slowly be noticed for anyone who could keep their eyes on the person not unleashing a whirling dervish of blazing death... was that the dot in the sky hadn't faded. It was still sitting there, building back up for what would be the second wave to burn the entire field. He would pursue Challenger after he was done with Genesis, that was a fact for him.
-
As the lights were shattered on the inside, the shrill noise that it was making did indeed start to stop. It was the sound the predator made when it was upon its prey. But now its prey had played a trick of its own, changing up the rules of the hunt. And its silence was its showing that it now looking to hunt him with increasing fervor, but with a bit of caution as well. But its movements were slowed when it was making itself move more quietly, not able to push ahead at the full speed that it was before if it didn't want to give away its own position. If it did, then he would know where it was coming from and could avoid or attack it to escape. So it needed to get closer, close enough where it could fall upon him before it went at full speed again unless it tossed caution to the wind.

Despite its silence, Resonance could still pick up minute sounds from the creature's movements thanks to his mastery over sounds. He couldn't tell the exact position, but it was just enough to make him aware. While the fact that it was now stalking him from the shadows was a bit disconcerting, it did buy him some precious time. Instead of hiding or taking a defensive position, Resonance remains in the center of the area and begins to charge. After several moments he begins to very slowly walk forward, making his way to the cross-roads where he'd tricked the snake a few moments before, inching his way down the same corridor that he'd been running from the very beginning. In his mind he can see so many things as he constantly glances through the darkness.
You have no idea how many times I've been here before... he thinks to himself, his jaw now setting itself against the panic. Striker, Arsenal, Silare... I've been chased and pushed against the wall by so many. You may very well finish my story here today, but I promise you one thing... at this pause, Resonance clenches his fist, forming a gray orb that he hadn't made use of in literal years in his hands as he turns the corner, walking backwards now to keep an eye on the direction that the snake had gone before. ....you will not stop me. This time my failure isn't around my neck. This time I will not be robbed of success! As Resonance gives this thought amid the shadows of the ancient castle, a single tear rolls down his face. He didn't want to be here, he didn't want to do this... but he'd find a way to win this day, no matter the cost!

*Good, that got the reaction he desired. If they didn't have an idea of what it was he would have taken advantage of it. But their wisdom made them able to handle that in the best way that they could have. So as the blazing strike came first he used his arm to meet the first claw, using Fate to meet the next as they did an exchange of vicious blows with one another. He called up a sword of pure energy in his free hand to start his counterattack, starting to speed up to go to outpace the infernal enforcer. There was a brief flicker in his data in the symbol of a star, a sudden burst of strength that would last for a time to increase his output for a time. While the swings with the energy sword weren't as powerful as the ones from Fate, which were designed to tear asunder the very landscape with each swing. He didn't intend to back down from a close quarters battle against him, rather if anything he would go for forcing Rosso into submission first.*

It managed to hear his words. And that was what spurred it on into action. It slithered at its full speed again, boosting off to head for Resonance as rather than release the volley of shots like it had before, it opened its maw with the intention of swallowing him whole. But it still couldn't quite see him, instead going off of the position it assumed he should be at now from the sounds of his voice. The ball was in the court of the man who had lived in this situation so many times before.
-
Rosso was trading blows with Genesis at first, keeping things fairly straightforward. But it was here that he suddenly halted and glanced back, Genesis' blow going straight for his neck. But then... Fate stopped. Both of his swords did in fact. In thin air, as though they hit some sort of unseen wall, they were halted by this unnoticed force. And even though he was hitting it directly it was still as if nothing at all was there. The glare practically burned with hatred then, as if someone had encroached upon that which they should not have.
"Resonance? What's he doing at... no, not yet. Everything is ready, but I'm not finished with the ones I want yet. Rejoice then, Overlord. You get to reach a splendid demise."
Power blasted out from him, forcing Genesis back as he reached out with his right hand. When he did, the network itself shattered before him. A tear in reality, a show of a place that was completely different than where they stood now. And then he pulled something out of it. Something that set off readings everywhere. It was the first thing from Rosso that gave off any such reading or any show of force. But the massive sword he pulled forth was doing so. It was a dark red blade, black at the center of it. It looked akin to a wing in design, but it was coated in an azure flame...
And gave off all the strength that a Titan itself would.
"Burn."
He brought the blade forth and the world that was already burning was reduced to ash. Everything in the direction of the blade's path for miles off was taken off of the map. And the network felt like it was falling apart at the seams just from the weapon's presence alone.

...the spread was unparalleled, and the power as intense as the sun. Netopia itself suffered the wrath of Rosso's power, with the damage hitting an area far larger than what a common Navi could throw. This was a testament to the burning warlord's raw power laid to bear....
....but what happens when your attack hits more than expected?
As the ripples on a pond return when they release the edge, just beyond the battlefield there's a flash... and then it happens. Rosso's hell-fire, still burning with all of the force of a titan's blow, sweeps over the battlefield a second time, even farther scorching the very earth in its pure and unrivaled fury. The all-encompassing blast of cataclysmic power slams into the front of Rammount like a tsunami, literally melting away the entire face of the castle in cackling hellfire and brimstone.
...and this is when a figure walks onto the battlefield. Blood red eyes glow like a flame in the night, lighting up the set of golden horns that are affixed to the front of his helmet. His deep purple armor, now obviously singed from Rosso's strike, shines through the burn marks a dark purple hue with bright golden details. His fists are clenched as he walks, as a dull light emanates from the cannons affixed to his wrists. His fury absolutely smolders in his eyes as he walks past his long-time mortal enemy, Genesis, and stands facing Rosso directly.
?: Enough.
The Armored Destroyer, no longer allowing situations to evolve as they see fit, clenches his fists and looks to Rosso, his own fury and determination standing as a weapon unto themselves, a weapon poised to cleave the head from their target at a moment's notice.
...it was coming near. A confrontation was inevitable at this point, and only one choice remained. Now backed half way down the hall, Resonance clenches his fists in anticipation. No backing down now, it's time to put this move into full action.
Amid the darkness, Resonance's arm suddenly begins to burn bright white. He knew now that the hallway virtually eliminated the snake's ability to dodge to the right or the left, so he knew just as well that this almost HAD to make a hit!
Now lit up like a candle in the darkness, Resonance looks through the blackness with a renewed confidence. This would be it, the moment to bring it all together! Without a word, the OEL Navi lets fly a beam of pure light, flooding the entire hallway with a spreading, shining beacon. Regardless of the snake's next move, this light would be the shining end!

*Genesis' eyes widened. He knew who Resonance was and where he was? What exactly had they actually stumbled upon at Rammount? And more importantly... 'why' would they even know Resonance? He had been quiet for years. And another thing... what in the world stopped his attacks just now? They were just... sitting there. It wasn't spatial power or anything like that, simply being halted. What had he hit? And then the power blasted out, launching him back as chains sprouted out from his back, hoisting in the ground to keep him in place. And before he could keep his attack going, the sword was drawn and for once the Onyx Overlord halted, the chains coming out of the ground.*
"This is...?!"
*This was something he couldn't mistake. He had seen this sort of reading several times over the years of life he had. He had fought this sort of might several times over the years. But he hadn't fought that sort of might all on his own either. Genesis had moved to avoid it, jumping to the side as quickly as he could as the raw force engulfed him. While he hadn't been incinerated, he was reeling a fair deal from that attack. His world was spinning after it, something that he managed to get a grip with quickly enough. It was here when he noticed the failings of this new change. Being forced to contend with things more as a human would meant injuries could slow one down. But conviction was something that allowed him to steel himself.*
*And then the wave came back a second time. At first he was curious on why... for but a single fleeting moment. It came to him all too quickly what could have caused the second wave that happened just now from a very subtle change in the attack. A change he was accustomed to, that he would recall out of the relationship he shared with that navi in particular. And he stood back up, closing his eyes as he centered himself. ...This was a time when he could set aside their differences. When he opened them again, there he was: the Armored Destroyer. He didn't need to offer words to him. They would handle things in a way that only the two of them could. And the tone of the Overlord's voice changed, still calm yet firm. A not-so-veiled violence set to be let loose against Rosso himself.*
"It won't go quite as you plan it too. So let's settle this."

Rosso was going to press the attack when a counterattack came from a way he wasn't quite expecting. He was actually caught up in the cataclysm that melted Rammount, the man down to a knee for a moment before he stood back up, growling lowly then. It was visible for but a brief moment, but there was a flicker around his body then. It must've weathered the brunt of the attack just then, his glare moving over to spot the man who dared to do such a thing. And look who it was... the other target that got away from him before. This... was ideal, in a way. It was unfortunate that he joined at this juncture rather than an earlier one, but he had the means to fix this straight away. All it would take was one move. He had both of the ones that he wanted to hunt down right here. While he planned to do them one at a time to give them some dignity in their demise... he supposed it was only fitting for them to burn down together.
"Enough is when 'I' say it's enough, not you. But worry not. You both stand a testament to how even the strongest of trash in this world are still just that: trash. I'll burn you both away and remove the very blight you represent from this world!!"
He didn't need the facade around these two, the venom and ferocity, the burning resolve behind his words palpable. They were ones that he wanted to eradicate, that he had to eradicate from this existence. One of them weren't his prey exactly, but that didn't matter now. So rather than swing the sword first, the floating sun above pulsed first. Gehenna was releasing another wave to burn the very field again, but not quite as terrifying as the blade he wielded. But he snapped his finger at the same time, heat gathering next to both navis that would explode. Only after these two moves did he swing the sword again, unleashing the strike in a vertical wave rather than a horizontal one. How he would approach the match from here on out would depend entirely on how this played out now. Now how would the two destroyers respond to his relentless force?
-
As the snake made its way down the hallway, the beam of light made it full on. And this would be when he would discover a detail he hadn't learned about the viper. The light struck it full on in the mouth... but it hadn't slowed at all. In fact, the light wasn't doing any harm right now. Was it because of the strength of the machine or something else? Either way he made to eat the target as it originally planned too, slamming its jaws down on him with the intent to swallow him whole as the final end to the OEL Navi.

Resonance's face turns to one of panic. He braces himself against the final bite of the creature, but it's no good. The mechanical creature bites down into Resonance... and finds that it's little more than smoke. This was the clone that the snake had not chased, still usable for one final movement!
This would be Resonance's final gambit, and the snake's blow set the stage for it all. Directly behind the final clone lies a dark glass orb.... in it, the tell-tail hourglass. The beast's overwhelming power strikes Resonance's signature trap, causing it to shatter as a rain of pure, burning force rains down in pillars across the snake's body. The light from this counter also reveals the true depth of this final blow. Resonance stands ready with his sonic-resonator buster held high in the face of the snake.
Resonance: If you can understand me, then HEAR THIS!
Resonance lets fly a cataclysmic blast of sound forward, blasting out like a cyclone down the hallway and shaking the area under the immense pressure.
Resonance: I don't care what you are, or where you're from, I have more behind me than you EVER could!!!
Resonance then thrusts his hand forward and rips it off to the side, causing a large vortex of shadows to drain away the light and focus a hurricane of shadow-force on the head of the snake.
Resonance: Have you ever heard of Eon?!
...this is when Resonance holds up the gray orb that he'd forged earlier. This would be his trump-card, and his only true shot at turning the tide of this confrontation.
Resonance: Because THIS is the power of the Navi that sealed him away!!!
This was it. Resonance opens his hand and lets loose the final, most destructive power of his brother, Eclipse. The orb floats in place as four more appear around it, seeming to box it in. The original orb then sends out a set of four gray beams, each connecting to one of the newly formed orbs at the four corners. The corner orbs then send similar beams between the top and bottom, filling out the shape as the area between them becomes pure black, revealing the shape in its foreboding glory.
The mark of the Generational, Eon's black hourglass.
The hourglass then swiftly raises shade, going from black as night to white as day. Then, from the original central point, an all-encompassing blast erupts forward, shattering reality itself like glass. The localized castle area is nearly erased by the force unleashed, as the Eternal Endgame's power is brought out in full force against this foe, indiscriminately tearing apart every bit of data that it encounters. In this one moment, Resonance releases his greatest blow, bringing all of his fury and pain against this creature for one last chance to finally do what he'd wished for so long...
Succeed!!
The destroyer saw the tell and felt the heat. Instinctively he reaches his arms to his sides and fires from both cannons, causing white bursts to disrupt the coming explosions just enough for him to activate his thrusters and evade the coming blasts. And then came the blade. Zero, Genesis... regardless of their strength, regardless of their composition, the Destroyer was well versed in sword-play, and knew what to do right off the bat. While most Navis would outright dodge the blow, the Destroyer thrusts an open palm forward, his hand cased in a bright blue energy, and catches the edge of the blade. While unable to stop it directly like he normally would, he falls back with the raw force and literally rips the edge of the energy sword away. He then doubles back, activates the thrusters on his back and feet, and spins in mid air, bringing the blade around in a split second.
?: Wrong...
The destroyer does not attack Rosso directly with this blade. Instead, he slices it into the ground below the hellfire Navi and clenches his fist, causing the bloodthirsty sword to explode beneath Rosso's feet, rending and upheaving the ground in a pillar of fire.
?: ...it's only enough when your data is scattered to the winds!
With his hand still burning with Rosso's fire, the destroyer takes his advantageous lowered and up-close position at full value. With a slicing thrust, he delivers a flame-powered uppercut to Rosso from below, simultaneously releasing a barrage of mines from his wrist-mounted cannon, peppering the hellfire Navi in explosive force backed by his own extreme fires. The destroyer then uses the force of this blow to flip back and swiftly deliver a spinning-axe kick from above with shattering force, a blow that he would then kick off from to make his final landing, thus far unscathed by Rosso's onslaught.

*So that star and the finger snap was how he planned to start this off, was it? The crimson aura from Fate began to magnify intensely, driving the sword forward as he charged ahead. The first strike was to meet the wave that fell down while his charge weaved clean past the explosions he triggered. He didn't worry about the blade, as he had witnessed this moment happen enough times to know what was going to happen this time when it was let loose. So instead he put his efforts entirely into attacking. So he would hit him hard and fast, halting as a dark aura rose up from his body as the sign that Revelations was about to released, gripping Fate with both hands. And then he swung, the strikes tearing through the air just as the Destroyer finished his own assault.*
*It was four strikes from the north, south, east, and west all at once. Strikes that were designed with great strength and a trait that the Armored Destroyer held in all of his moves. A blow that carried unbending force. If this didn't get through, it would give him an idea as well. Because each of the incoming attacks had something ever so different to them. Something that he wanted to get a feel on after what happened the last time he struck directly at Rosso.*

Unlike the ray of light fired before it, the hourglass that pelted it with intense power caused it to release another shrill shriek, this time of agony rather than the noise of the hunter. It had caused visible damage, damages that were quickly beginning to mend itself. That was when the blast from the sonic-resonator buster slammed into it as well as a literal cyclone of damage, causing it to shriek again at the continued assault from the Original Generational. The vortex of shadow force slammed into its head, forcing it into the ground after as it could only look on as the strength that sealed away the Time-Space Nightmare was released. And it tore through its entirety, the shriek being drowned out in the tremendous show of force as the castle suffered under the weight of it, barely stable after the terrifying strike that was returned to it and melted a good deal of it earlier.
When all was said and done, the machine had ceased. Its body was still there, but no sounds or movements came from it. It had simply stopped its functions entirely, resting in place. It was hard to tell if it would spring back to life or not given it hadn't simply been deleted away like a good deal of the area from Resonance's final gambit. But his plan had succeeded at long last...
-
It was something that they noticed in the look of his eyes. It was at the very moment that both had started to move forward to come at him. His eyes were practically sneering at them, a sinister and condescending sneer. He knew that he could get the required results if his opponents were these two. And it was something that the Armored Destroyer noticed as soon as his hand managed to meet the blade that came toward him. The flames that he pulled away from it... the energy they were giving off didn't feel like fire at all. The sword had lost the fire that coated it, but the weapon was still in his hand as the azure flames burst back around it shortly after. And yet he was still sneering despite what just happened. And when it was set to explode beneath him he didn't make a move at all.
"The barking of trashy losers amount to absolutely nothing, you know. At the end of the day, they die all the same. They just die loudly instead."
There was a difference between the last time the strike was reflected and this time. But just like the attacks Genesis had used before, they had met some unseen force. And they had ultimately left him unscathed. The same happened with each of the Armored Destroyer's blows and the same again when the Onyx Overlord unleashed one of his finest arts. They all had fallen short of their goal, the sneer returning to its glare. Now things were going his way. And even with their combined efforts...
He didn't see them stopping him from here on out.
Flames burst out from his heels like thrusters, thrusting him forward at them as he let loose three strikes from the sword along the way. The 'flames' lashed out each time, aiming to devour them like all the things that had come before it before the flame blasted out from beneath him again, launching him upward as he went into a spin, coming down and bringing the sword down as a violent explosion blasted outward and through the sky itself, leaving a visible hole in it.

*There it was again. Except this time none of their attacks made it through, even the ones he changed up. But this time he had an idea as well. They couldn't get through even with an attack similar to their approach last time... so did that extend both ways? The scar on his chest let off a faint orange glow for just a moment as Genesis moved forward ahead of both of them. And as the attacks came at them, they would meet the very same defensive measure that Rosso himself was using. It was true that he couldn't tell what it was, nor could he see it to figure out what it was. But in the case of the scar it was never about seeing or knowing about the ability. Using it right now gave him no knowledge of its functions at all. All it did was allow him to utilize the works of those around him. If this worked he could weather this assault unscathed. If it didn't? Well...*
*He'd be pretty roughed up to say the least. He had gone to swing with Fate as Rosso did the final strike, aiming to hit him after he did it. And it was noticed that the crimson aura was constantly shifting as it did. He expected it to meet the same invisible resistance it met several times now. What he was doing was rapidly changing the properties to different ones, trying to see if it reacted in some sort of way to what kept keeping them both out.*

It was a wild gambit to say the least about the move that the Onyx Overlord elected to do. If he took all of those attacks, especially the last one, there was no way he would come out unscathed. He'd be pretty much finished for this fight of theirs. And his ideals would steadily burn away here and now.
Except his gambit paid off as well.
Each of the attacks were halted by the unseen wall, even the last one that came cascading down as Rosso's eyes widened as a result. To say that he cursed Genesis' name in this moment was putting it lightly. The Scar of the Corrupted was something that Genesis had put some time to master in a way beyond its original intentions. And as Fate was constantly shifting, floating in thin air from the same defense as before... it moved eventually. Rosso's eyes glanced over to it, moving his head back as the attack narrowly missed him as he jetted back in an instant to gain some distance instead. His glare had intensified immensely, the air around him visibly beginning to boil as he seethed with rage. He had committed a blunder finally.
One that put them back in the fight now as well instead of a one-sided massacre.

The destroyer's eyes narrow as Rosso is taken aback by Genesis' defensive measure. This was one tactic that the brutal Navi had no access to, but it does give some insight into just what's happening in actuality. Unable to duplicate his begrudging partner's defenses, the destroyer instead drops back and meets Rosso head-on, once again spinning back and performing a swift axe-kick to deflect the blades and flames. However, this blow does not come without his cost. Once again singed, the nameless Navi winces in pain from the searing heat of Rosso's onslaught. However, in uncharacteristic fashion, he does not immediately retaliate. Instead, he holds back and begins to charge up, reviewing the situation in silence as he does so.
....
Resonance falls to his knees, nearly unable to think from the toll that this had taken on him. But he also finds himself in a state of disbelief. He'd somehow found a way to win, a way to survive. The quiet Navi closes his eyes, reeling from the experience, as a quiet whisper escapes his lips, accompanied by a bitter wince of pain; pain far deeper than what this snake could have possibly inflicted.
Resonance: ....I did it, Sapphire.
....the statement was hollow, yet as valuable to Resonance as life itself. Ready to pass out yet not ready to quit, the Generational rises to his feet, braces himself against the now shattered stone walls for a moment, and forces himself to press on. Slower than before, he returns to the crossed hallway and looks on deeper, but not before looking back to the now lifeless serpent with a glint of regret in his eyes.
Resonance: I'm sorry.
Despite its remorseless desire to destroy, Resonance falls into a feeling of compassion for the fallen beast. If asked, he wouldn't be able to explain it or express what his heart tells him now, but he knew that he had to say it. Once again retaining his silence, he walks into the pitch black hallway that he'd originally started down, making his way deeper into the castle.
