*He didn't frequently enter these things. He preferred being unheard from and unseen. Until he found something that interested him that was when he would show his face again. And so here he was, having entered one on a whim. The name of his opponent actually didn't look familiar to him. Merrill was his opponent, Xion simply standing in the combat district with his eyes closed until his opponent arrived.*
*It had been some time since he got to mess around with someone like this and he hadn't found anyone that was enjoyable to throw down with for a while either. He supposed that was what led up to the whim that made him decide to do this in the first place. He wanted to have some fun and see if any of the people here could provide that to him. If they could that was good. If he won that was also good. But ultimately it didn't matter so long as the person he was engaged with managed to entertain him in some way or another.*
*So it would be time to see if his opponent could provide that for him.*

Merrill walked into the battle arena from the entrance gate. He took his time, taking a deep breath, inhaling the scents of his surroundings. His senses were on high alert already as his steps felt loud. As he approached his opponent, he sized him up.
"So that is Xion... I don't recall facing him before... I better be careful and play this smart..."[/I][/size]
He stopped several yards away from Xion. He took a breath, and spoke.
"So your Xion. Nice to meet you, and Good Luck. May the better Navi win."
Merrill slowly stretched his arms out to his sides, his two MZKeyZoth's, Life and Death appeared in his hands. Death, the black blade was in his right hand, while it's bright white counterpart, Life, was in his left. He brought the swords close against him, in a defensive manner, prepared for Xion's opening move.

*So that was his opponent, huh? Well, he supposed this would be good after all. He let the introductions finish first and a few moments passed in silence. But after those moments passed did the navi in dull gray armor start to walk forward and close the distance between the two of them with a slow pace at first.*
"The better navi, huh? Right. Let's get on with this then."
*Anyone who knew him knew that his opening strike was always a simple one. The same one that it had always been for years now that turned his walking before into a crawl in comparison. He faded from sight, red gleaming light being left behind from his movements as the only thing visible as his claws lashed out from Merrill's left with his right hand as the opening strike. But anyone who knew him also knew that his opening strike was also not a brief one. All they did was get longer over time.*
*The left arm had darkness crawling off of it as a purple line flowed through it, a sword-breaker launching out from it that he aimed at Merill, specifically one of his swords to brush it aside even before it could be used. His eyes seemed to spark suddenly then as darkness gathered between them and exploded outward, aiming to strike Merrill and push them both back at the same time as a dust cloud formed up from the explosion. But right after this two chips of some kind had been thrown into the sky just then.*
*The result of this was a meteor shower of darkness raining down on the field twice over. He settled to end this barrage by jumping upward himself as the meteors rained down on the field, pulling back his right arm as the sword-breaker retracted back into the slot it rose out of in his armor. He punched down with his fist, a blast of darkness falling down with the intent to indiscriminately attack the battlefield that they were on. The meteors were the same way in fact, only occasionally being aimed directly at where Merrill himself had been standing at. A field blanketed in the darkness with hardly anywhere for anyone to move to.*

*?!*
Merrill had such little time to react before Xion made his opening move. Xion's claw strike was indeed very quick, but Merrill had only a small movement to make before brushing the strike off to the side harmlessly with Life. Death, however, was trapped by the line of darkness, immobilized in place. Staring down Xion as he started to gather darkness in his eyes, Merrill was helpless as the blast came. It hit him square in the chest, sending him backwards parallel to the ground several yards. He instantly lost his grip on Death too, the force ripping it from his hand. However, he used his now free hand to maneuver his body to land on his feet. Unable to see his opponent, Merrill didn't see Xion throw up the pair of chips in the air, but as the meteors started to pelt the field, he knew what was going on.
... Seriously?"
He used Life to Parry the first meteor that was aimed at him. Then he realized that every meteor wasn't aimed directly at him, as he had a moment before his current spot was targeted again. Using that to his advantage, he blocked the next meteor with an upward sword swing, aiming it in a similar direction that it had came from. He thrust his empty hand backwards, Death dematerializing wherever Xion had discarded/kept it, the black blade rematerializing in his hand. He jumped backwards, spreading his wings wide open. He deflected the next meteor with a slash, aiming it towards the direction Xion had been previously to the blast. He then took to the skies, One meteor hitting him square in the chest. He grunted and shrugged it off, deflecting another meteor again upwards. As he reached the side of one of the buildings, he hovered, using one of the balconies for cover as the meteors hit above him.
"With this torrent of meteors looming, fighting back is going to be hard..."
Then, he saw Xion's blast of darkness from the ground. He quickly calculated about where he thought Xion was, and then threw Life as hard as he could, doing a complete spin, to launch Death at the same way. Both blades disappeared in the darkness, and Merrill hoped they would hit Xion. Without much thought or hesitation, Merrill used the wall to kick off of and like a bullet, aimed at the exact spot where Xion was. He grabbed the hilt of his two-hand, "Hope". He got right up to Xion, his face got within a foot of where Xion was, and Merrill grinned.
"Surprise!"
He drew the blade in a slashing arc as he passed, Energy bursting outward at near-point blank range. He used the building behind Xion like a swimmer would do when they reached a wall, and placed "Hope" away. He again assimilated Life and Death while being upside down and darted past Xion again. This time, feinting as he went by, using a one-two slash at his opponent's back.
He landed on one of the balconies on the other side of the street where the battle had taken place so far. He stood, staring up towards his opponent. He took a deep breath, trying to stay flexible, ready to move at a moment's notice.

*He had sort of just discarded the sword once he had disarmed it. He saw one of the meteors hit where he once was, likely a sign that Merrill didn't know he had moved upward rather than stick around. This gave him a bead on Merrill's location as well, keeping in mind that the guy could call his weapons back since he had the other one in his hand again. That was a nice thing to have for anyone who used weapons. But seeing as his blast had only hit the ground and spread out, he could assume that he misjudged his opponent's intellect and they hadn't just moved about aimlessly. But that was good, now Xion keeping his eyes out for any movement here or there.*
*Then he saw the two swords hurtling his way. Darkness covered his right hand as the sword-breaker revealed itself from his left arm again as he caught one with the left blade and hit the other aside with his other hand. It was a tactic similar to one he used himself, so hitting them wasn't too hard in his eyes. Similarly this is what caused to realize that he had been distracted by the two weapons. A distraction long enough for Merrill to close the gap with his "surprise" and not be given enough time to counter or evade it as he was struck by the passing slash before Merrill pushed off of the building behind him to do the same, but this time with his other two swords. That freed up his left arm if nothing else as the weapon returned, not even having turned to try and face Merrill when he attacked him from behind. The navi had passed him again and this time had done a feint to move to another balcony.*
"Not too bad..."
*The meteors changed course now then, the barrage still happening as they collapsed on the building that Merrill was on and the balcony that he was at. Xion himself gathered flames in both hands as they launched off at Merrill as well as pushed Xion back, turning in mid-air as he touched the building behind him now as well. Two more dark chips were pulled out then, both of his arms changing into the form of a buster before the all-destroying shot was fired, both Dark Spreaders being aimed at the building and Merrill with the intent of either hitting both or just demolishing the building. These two were quickly followed by two more, his arms shifting accordingly as the Dark Wide were both fired at Merrill with the combined force of water and darkness.*
*But playing keep away this long wasn't something he found enjoyable. He had only done so many wide spread attacks to cover the area that Merrill was at. So he did a brief paused in his assault, mostly to analyze where Merrill would go next through the barrage of attacks as the meteors continued their fall, to make up for his own pause. His arms turned back to normal and two swords of darkness formed next, one in each hand. He tossed both forward before calling up another pair, tossing them to the side as they swerved around, heading toward Merrill from another angle before caution was sent to the wind. Xion jumped straight in, catching the first pair he had thrown and brought them down in a vertical slash, the weapons flashing immediately after they were swung and exploding in a purple blast that clouded vision for only a few seconds. The explosion was harmless to Xion himself, but not to anyone or anything caught in the blast.*

Merrill had truck his target, at least. However, he got no time to relish in the small victory, as Xion had begun another assault. The meteors were starting to become a hassle, but then Xion began by blasting a dark fire energy at him. He had plenty of time to dodge the attack, however, he just dived off the damaged balcony he was on to one below. He ducked behind the metal railing and braced for the impact by placing the two blades in front of him, which was good, as the metal railing absorbed only a part of the impact. He was pushed backwards several feet, against the door, but managed to only accumulate minor burns. From there, he stood, only to see Xion upside down in a very similar position that he was moments ago. However, he instantly heard and saw the Dark Spreader rounds blasting directly towards him and the building.
"You've got to be kidding..
Merrill acted on pure instinct, just throwing himself off the building completely, using the two blades again as a shield to attempt to deflect as many rounds as possible. He was peppered in his legs, and arms, managing to keep his wings behind him safely, and his face from getting blown away, although a round went through his hair, shaving off a few hairs. As the attack died down, Merrill managed to take a peek. Luckily for him, the Dark Wide hit above him, the water just falling down upon him. unfortunately for Xion, Merrill was an elementalistic user, and had a decent control over the water. He used the downpour to block the two oncoming blades from the side, while he personally countered the two swords Xion swung at him with. The resulting explosion, however, was not something Merrill expected, and he was sent sprawling backwards several yards, managing to use his feet to do a backwards roll that let into a jump so that Merrill landed on top of some debris from the building.
"Your pretty good. I'll give you that. What else are you capable of? You will have to do better than that though to defeat me."
Merrill opened his palms, the two blades now levitating on each side of his head. He placed his hands together, and there was a quick flash of light, a small white glow enveloping Merrill. THe glowing peeled off into separate orb-like objects. They rotated around Merrill's body as Merrill pulsed off energy every few seconds. Finally, after just a few seconds, There was more than a handful of these floating spheres. Merrill locked eyes with Xion for just a moment, before there was a flash, and Merrill was on the move.
First, a black bullet of a blade came at Xion from the front. The blade was moving so fast that one could hear it. From there, a similar blade, white this time, came from behind Xion. Then, just as the blades closed in, Meteors, that were white, green, blue, yellow and black, targeted Xion with incredible accuracy. One by one they hunted their target, all the while, Merrill had moved into a position above Xion, and in between Meteor strikes, Merrill appeared, using himself as a human Meteor, his body still covered in the white light. He hit the ground, and left a dent in the ground. He stood, and Dashed at Xion again. He threw a punch, then a second. From there, he threw his body straight up in a diagonal direction, aiming for a spin kick to his head, his hands hitting the ground, aiding in his rotational force, to which he yanked "Hope" off is back and slashed in a 360 degree arc. He then brought the blade over his head, and made a vertical strike downward, the blade unleashing a blast of energy outward at Xion from a short distance away. Merrill then put "Hope" away as he jumped backwards, slamming his hands into the ground with a grunt. Pure water suddenly came down in a ravishing hot waterfall on the location where Xion had been and would have been had his prior attack connected with his foe.
Merrill stood, his body no longer glowing. His two swords had returned to their hovering positions, ready to cover him or take an open strike at Xion should the opportunity present itself.

*That was quite fun to see there. If Merrill could manipulate the water sent forth from the Dark Spreader, there was a bit of hope for darker deeds from the navi. After all, all of the things he used with the chips possessed dual attributes. He kept his eyes on Merrill, the gleaming orbs of red staying on the navi the whole time. Rather than attack in the seconds Merrill was setting up his next attack, Xion gave him a response instead.*
"Your attacks are much too soft in my opinion, so I planned on accommodating you in two ways."
*The two ways weren't exactly easy for one to discern. His own meteors were still raining down, but this would be the end of their fall soon. A darkness began to eclipse the field and spread out in moments. He turned sideways then, lifting both of his arms to block the blades that were once soaring at his front and back. But beyond this he made no movements at all, each meteor finding their mark easily as they slammed into him. He pushed both blades off as Merrill slammed down, the force of the attack almost causing Xion to buckle from where he stood his ground at.*
*But the owner of darkness did no such thing. One punch made it to his chest and another to his stomach before the kick caused his head to turn. These blows were closely followed by Merrill using his larger sword do a spinning slash once before the downward slash came next, the blast finally causing him to skid back on his feet. It wasn't that he had incredible durability so much as he was stubborn and tenacious for why he held his ground without moving so far, but that only got so many things done in the end. The end of it had come in the waterfall that fell down on him, engulfing him and leaving nothing behind to be seen or witnessed. It made sense that his opponent would utilize the water while it was still around after all. As Merrill expected of course Xion spoke up still, his voice being heard over the waterfall with little to no difficulty at all.*
"Now I know why that seems a little familiar. The Inferno Knight used to wave around two swords and one large sword. Maybe he still does? It has been a while since I last laid eyes on him."
*The voice sounded like it had another tone to it, like it was echoing and filled with darkness itself. During Merrill's attacks he had even gone as far as to weaken his own defenses. Why would he do such a thing? Well... that was obvious of course. Despite the vastness of the extremely hot waterfall, despite this could something be seen. The former red orbs of Xion's eyes gained an entirely purple hue instead as a large purple smile became apparent through it. The waterfall exploded afterward, steam filling the air as the water completely dissolved.*
"You see, for all of my opponents I don't do much in the way of evading or attacking until after they have a sufficient lead. A distinct advantage. Once they do... then I can start playing with them for real!"
*His body had become surrounded and covered in darkness, the only thing visible being his two eyes within the infernal depths. The smile had still been present too, but it started to fade at least. The darkness almost seemed tangible from the amount of pressure that it was exerting, but clearly it wasn't. From the darkness that was affecting everything, wrapping around and seemingly alive did three more of himself appear, obviously weaker but there all the same. And so now came the time for action rather than words. He vanished from sight first, the purple light indicating that he came straight from the front as he slashed with his claws and became visible again before warping from place. It wasn't a true warp as much as it was his amplified speed, appearing behind Merrill and striking before he warped again and did an ax-kick from above, darkness blasting out from this as Xion was blasted upward.*
*But the other three had begun to move as soon as he had done the first attack. Two swords flew at Merrill, the first grabbing them and slashing with them as they exploded just as they had before. The other had waited until after this attack and Merrill's weapon to move himself, creating a weapon with blades on both ends of it, using it to cut at the opposing navi before the weapon faded back into the abyss. This left the last one who struck at Merrill's back at this instant. This attack had no striking power with the thrust claw, before seemed to carry debilitating effects with it. Made to turn one's own protections and fail-safes against them.*
"...Like so!"
*During all of the attacks the darkness had seeped up into the air where Xion had gone. The meteors rained down on Merrill directly even if this would be their final assault, blanketing and hiding Xion between them. He was no longer hidden as the darkness that he wielded came to a head when it was truly utilized in this state, launching downward in what seemed to be an instant. All of the meteors in the sky were dragged down immediately as Xion came crashing into the ground as a massive blast of darkness engulfed all in the area, devastating indiscriminately even if the primary focus had been to devastate Merrill with the attack. The other three had moved to space out after, the original having his fist firmly planted on the ground and on one knee, standing up after as the purple smile appeared once more through the darkness. Of course to use that attack he couldn't attack as often as he normally would have, which is why he had set things up for his lesser selves to be called up instead as the darkness stayed on the field. He didn't attempt to move or hide, welcoming whatever the elemental would try next.*
