*And the respite was over. Their issues would just continue to pile up he figured. Life without issues seemed almost similar to a life without conflict. It just would be preferable if it the issues and conflict didn't carry such high stakes with them. The only difference for now was that they could be confronted. His own problems though would take a bit more time and various efforts to be taken care of. That aside... they would climb for a bit more and if they didn't find anything more, be on their way.*

After some time, several wrong towers, and a spiraling ramp through the midsection of the Citadel which made it seem as though they were walking in circles, the pair comes upon a final dark hallway... and emerge into a forsaken courtyard beneath a looming black gate adorned in (now) blazing blue torches. The gate is shut, and yet still the steel groans...

[glow=white,2,500]*Embera made little conversation on her way through the mentally straining darkness for what felt like an eternity, Embera nearly cracked. The temperature began to rise as she slowly began panicking. It would soon subside, however, as she was met with an eerie and ominous blue light. Not thinking too much, she kissed the base of the first torch she saw, feeling blessed to have more of her sight restored. The joy was short-lived, however, as Embera soon punched a small crater into the wall. Obviously furious, she burst forth.*
Embera: Just when I was ready to turn around, I get an iron invitation to keep pushing forward! I'm getting fed up with this. If there's noone on the other side of this gate, I'm out Genesis, end of story.
*With her dagger-mouth now shut, and teeth gritted, she pushed open the gate. The sound of steel on steel was enough to drive anyone batty with its screech, however Embera was adamant. Pressing onward, she confronted any possibility on the other side of the steel gate.* [/glow]

...But the gate does not open, and at Embera's touch exudes the darkness she had been feeling the entire time: It envelops her mind, touches her soul, and laughs at what it sees there. The gate does not open.

[glow=white,2,500]*If ever she had been formed with a functional excretory system, it would be operating at 120%. Embera shuddered at the very contact of the gate. Throwing her arm back as the darkness taunted her, controlling her emotion in a way of shadowing everything but her fear, she backed away. Walking to Genesis, and shaking his hand, Embera bowed her head slightly.*
Embera: Welp, I'm out! Been fun, good game, but that just freaked me the heck out. Later!
*Embera raced through the tower until she could find the garden again, and this time, she did what she had said. Standing spread eagle over the rail, she plummeted. Falling at an alarming rate, she reflexively braced herself. Hitting the ground with a resounding thud, She shot back up to her feet, in a slight daze, and limped off.*[/glow]

*He was probably the only one who found their trip amusing in its own way. For all their time of going to the wrong towers and the spiraling ramp through the Citadel, though admittedly he thought they were heading in circles by this point, they came to a different kind of courtyard instead. It was obviously different even if the looming black gate in front of them said that by itself.*
"There's some light for you."
*He figured that made her happy at the least. But then that wasn't something that could last very long obviously. It was something that was more different than everything else so far. Of course that was further proven when she tried to open it to no avail and by it exuding darkness. Of course from the looks of it that wasn't all it did. He looked confused at her shaking his hand and then bowing... until she bolted. And by that he meant that she was literally gone.*
"...I guess I should keep this gate in mind."
*If it could do that to her, it would be something nice to have handy. Because the ability to have her run like that when was impossible to give a value to. It had so much value it almost made him want to be able to bring the gate with him to have handy for her. He didn't want to find out why she had ran like she did, but it wasn't as though he would get the gate open by attacking it. Or at least he would save that as a later option. Guess he would have try it after all, walking up to the gate and trying to open it.*

With no handle to pull, the only apparent option to opening the door is to push... and as Genesis does so attempt, blue flames flare across his vision and the door blasts darkness at its would-be divider, sending him flying across the small square like a rag doll. In the moment that he's in the air, however, a figure can be spied atop the massive gate, peering down with tangible malice. It disappears, and the world grows darker... Shhh...

*It was probably needless to say that the door blasting darkness at him wasn't entirely what he was expecting. The blue flames might have served a hint to that of course. But as he was flying, he noticed the figure on top of the gate before they disappeared and the world grew darker. Bouncing off of the ground once, he caught himself after and shook it off, knowing that staying down when someone gave off such malice that it was practically touchable was far from the right idea. And then there was that noise...*
"Is it coming from whoever, or whatever, that was?"
*The figure was definitely responsible for everything growing darker then. And after seeing him once it was easy to decide to toss aside formalities and jump right to the hostilities. Not being able to see the target, yet alone his surroundings made attacking first unlikely and retreating just as unlikely. Energy starting flowing through him all the same as he prepared himself at least defensively, waiting for the figure to reveal itself again. And while this did offer up some light as a result, he doubted it would penetrate the seemingly perpetual darkness around him.*

The abysmal hallway that gapes open behind Genesis chuckles in a breath of air, and then becomes deathly still... a voice punctuates the silence like... a knife in the ba-... a knife in the dark.
????: "Shhh... Knee-benders and cowards... Shhh... Tell me you are neither, and your death shall be swift... Shhh... ...Number 610,556... ...Or run in shame, until I find you again... Shhh... These are your choices!"

*Looking back to the hallway behind him, the voice that cut through it like a knife... he couldn't help but feel that someone else had said something relatively amusing and he had missed it. The number represented something he would rather not think about and running in shame didn't entice him even without the added bonus of this one finding him again later.*
"I would prefer to think myself neither of those."
*That made the choice obvious for himself. While his partner Fate formed in hand, he couldn't help but feel... awkward as she did. Something was off that he couldn't quite place his fingers on, but he ignored it for now. What with this situation right now being distracted would prove more fatal than anything else, even if he didn't know that feeling was a catalyst for something much more...*

Well, here was the place. This was where he last got wind of the first person's signature that he was after. Then he would have to rendezvous with the other two and come up with a plan of approach. Not only for being the herald here, but also because of these games taking place. No doubt attacks were happening all over the place. He continued walking and flexing his hands occasionally with the thoughts in mind, still working on getting adjusted to the change that had recently come over them.

*The Dark Citadel. People had lost track of him here. To Zane's surprise, it didn't take him long to happen upon the Onyx Overlord either. Genesis was standing around and looking in a direction and upward, to the higher levels of the Citadel. He recognized that it was Zane instead of just someone passing through again or testing their courage, closing his eyes briefly before he turned back, the purple gazing over Zane's form. From the looks of it, Zane got himself into some more trouble. Like the scar they got before, Zane's appendages had become newly refined into what he imagined Zane thought his enemies looked like after they were set on fire.*
"Seeing as you came looking for me, something must have happened again besides those silly games that were brought up. What do you want, Zane?"

Well. That was much faster than he was expecting. Also less receptive than he was expecting. Genesis often made himself scarce as of late, what with his relentless pursuit of his own goals. Zane didn't hold that against him because they all did their own things. He had to vanish for a while to curb something himself. He supposed he never did quite visit Genesis to say hi. Amusing even, since he had just visited Embera to do just that without any real reason besides being in the area. He supposed he would keep it brief then since Genesis seemed to want the same.
"Not about those. I planned to ignore that too. What I'm actually concerned about is the return of the Ultimate Navi and of something that can take his shape and definitely has terrifying power akin to his own, but I don't know what it's about besides instilling fear even in me."

*Of course Zane wouldn't care about the games. He imagined Zane had even planned to leave that whole thing alone for how it started in the first place. But seeing as this had happened now, what else happened? Well clearly those guys screwed up and let out this Juno character. Zane managed to find something else, probably with Embera since Zane wasn't with the other two and Zane didn't have too many he interacted with these days either. And Embera probably had done something else too, because she was always listening to someone else for one thing or another without much complaints or thinking about it herself. It was part of what made her reliable as it happened. But it sounded like Zane ran into someone else again.*
"Forte, huh...? Given your arms, I assume you insulted his honor and he was merciful enough not to completely destroy you as a result. He's one of the furthest things from harmless and his version of the world is skewed, but considering the state of things no one's in a position to stand in his way."
*Genesis knew that they needed numbers for that one. He had been one of the ones who saw that entire fight through after all until Rave and NapalmMan created an opening for them. If Forte got on that same level of power again they would require the same drastic measures again. And Rave had about three different Titans empowering him and Forte was still making a joke out of him outside of having to deal with so many others fighting him at the same time. The errors of letting him gain Eon's power, as it would happen. He supposed that didn't matter. Sounded like everything was popping out of the word works now thanks to Juno's declaration about what people should and shouldn't do.*
"I don't know of anything that can resemble Forte and be just as terrifying, but again, no one's in any position to stop it. It'll pursue its goals for the time being and we lack the unity that both Suki and the Syndicate were able to inspire in others. We're all too focused on our own business. And until that business is taken care of, things will stay that way."
*He had a particularly firm tone there. Because that was what he believed. Forte had required far too many of them to take care of and as it was the ONB was having trouble just dealing with the masses and they happened to be the main source of fire power around when you needed bodies for something besides the WWW, who always had another agenda and zero concerns outside of their own issues that might spring up sometimes. In fact, because of the difficulties in handling Titans they had to wait rather than be concerned about addressing the matter immediately. Because they lacked the ample fire power to counter without taking a large amount of time and effort along with a helping of furthering someone's goals because it was what they wanted to happen while they sat back and watched.*

He had difficulty discerning when Genesis just didn't care or was as calm as he always was. Right now though he could tell that the guy's feathers were at least a little ruffled. His opening line summed that up quite nicely. Because Genesis was capable of taking practically everything in stride. Even when he fought, short of the Armored Destroyer the guy was immaculate in remaining calm. He imagined Genesis didn't consider destroying a bunch of guys for points was a plan that Genesis considered ideal for why he hadn't done it.
"So you're saying we should just let them do as they please for a while? Not everyone can be so single-minded, Genesis. That sounds far from ideal even."
Zane didn't bother hiding the fact that he was irritated by the choice of words that Genesis chose there. He understood that they sometimes had differing views. But the tone Genesis took pretty much implied that he figured that his choice was the absolute correct one and doing anything otherwise was foolish. And he didn't approve of Genesis looking at so many people in such a light. To be honest he didn't approve of anyone looking at him in that light either, but a lot of people considered him a tad naive and foolish for how he viewed the world.
