Combatants: Merrill, Healer Vs Xyz Single judge: Needed Version stuff? No. We shall make it equal at V9. Number of posts: X intro, 8 turns of battle
Merrill and Healer, his virus, walked through the ancient city, searching for the writer. The note told them to come here. HE would be there, waiting for them. Waiting, with answers to the questions that Merrill had. As he walked, Merrill's blood ran cold. The chance to encounter the one who destroyed his family years ago... A chance to put the monster to rest.. Merrill was determined to put an end to him. After walking for what seemed like hours, he stopped and looked up at the sky, and shouted.
"WHERE ARE YOU? COME OUT, YOU MONSTER!"

Xyzillentz' ears would have perked up if he'd had any. It was, after all, as though he was being called by name. But how? He didn't recognize the voice, and he was almost certain he hadn't been followed...
He wasn't complaining, of course. He'd come here seeking something or someone interesting after hours wandering aimlessly through the vast, arid desert. All the heat and sun had made him feel stuffy... his perspiration was mixing with his toxic gasses, making his stench even more potently pungent than usual. An unfortunate fellow - a traveler of some sort, he'd assumed - had found that out firsthand when the darkloid had discovered him within the ruins. He'd made for a decent diversion... but now someone was seeking a confrontation. That was sure to make things interesting.
He walked briskly but elegantly to the source of the voice, swaying his hips ever so slightly with each step. There was no reason not to keep up appearances just because he was in such an isolated location - especially not when he had company. He came upon a man with a little morsel of a virus, clearly on some sort of mission.
Xyzillentz leaned against a ruined pillar, crossing his legs sensually as he gave a small wave of his hand. His smooth, calm voice emanated from the speaker-vent on his chest, echoing through the cracked sandstone halls.
"Hello there dearie. What was it you wanted me for, hmm? A fan of my work, perhaps? You're already flattering me with your words."

Merrill's ears perked up as he heard Xyz. He turned, and stared at the navi. He studied the navi, and tilted his head. This wasn't the navi he was looking for. It couldn't be. But, containing his heated emotions, Merrill finally registered what he said.
"I do not believe you are the navi I am after. However, your words do arouse suspicion. Who are you?"
Merrill walked up closer, closing the gap, until he was several yards away. Healer jumped off his shoulder an stood by his side, her flame glowing brightly. He sized up Xyz. The navi seemed strange, with the vent-like spots, and he could tell that the navi smelled repulsive, although Merrill wouldn't let it show. He assumed the heat made the sweat from the navi worse. Merrill was glad he could summon up water for himself and Healer through the sand, when they needed to drink.
"Hmph. Do you enjoy destruction? Do you enjoy ruining the lives of the innocent? Please tell me your joking, because this is a pathetic joke. If your work is similar to this.."
Merrill waved his hand, indicating the distruction that was strewen throughout the ancient city and its ruins.
"Then you sicken me. If you don't want to start something with me, now would be a good time to leave."
Merrill was about to turn around, but suddenly had a question. Sighing, he spoke, hoping this mysterious navi had an answer for him. An honest answer.
"Oh. That reminds me, have you seen a navi with a rose thorn whip, wrapped around his left arm? Or black crystal, with blood-red light eminating from it on his forehead? "
Merrill moved his hair out from in front of his forehead, showing the navi his crystal.

Ah, so THAT'S who he was looking for... a different monster. The snake-man felt a small surge of pride; it was always nice to go up a link in the food chain of villainy. But this interloper was getting on his nerves. These self-righteous types always did. Still, he was confident he could salvage some entertainment out of the situation...
"Yes, I have. And if that's the 'monster' you were referring to, then I think you ought to recalibrate your standards. I... have seen far worse."
He'd nearly said that he WAS far worse, but thought better of it. Not because he didn't believe it to be true, but because he thought he could have a bit of fun deceiving this wanderer. Assuming he hadn't already screwed it up.
"Anyway, I deleted him. So I suppose your trip was for nothing. If you feel the need to thank me, I'm certain I can come up with... SOMETHING you can do for me."
The tone of his voice was naughty, perhaps even mischievous... but he was careful not to sound sinister or evil. If there was any chance he could be rewarded for his actions, he did not want it to be undermined by his moral alignment.

Merrill took a step back, at the navi's words. HE was beaten? By this navi? Merrill didn't know weather to believe it or not. Trying to be sneaky, and Regaining his composure, he spoke.
"We then. I guess I must give you my thanks. You have saved me the trouble. May I ask you to take me to where the body was? He should have left something behind there If what you say is true, and I find that item, I'd be glad to find a way to repay you in the future."
After Xyzillentz spoke in a mischievous tone, Merrill frowned. He didn't exactly like where this was going. Treading carefully, he spoke again.
"What would you like as a reward? Im curious to know what you want."

"Oh, it'll be quite simple, I assure you. And yes, his whip is here. I rather like it... beautiful, but deadly."
He signaled Merrill to wait as he turned away, walking around a corner and disappearing behind a dusty, cracked wall. Within moments he'd returned, whip in hand. He played with it idly, looping it around his wrists in figure-eights.
"Here you are. I'll admit that I'm surprised this stayed behind... usually these things go with you when you're deleted. I'm not complaining, of course... it will make a nice memento. A trophy of sorts."
He paused, letting the whip go slack in his grip.
"Unless you wanted it, of course."
Normally he wouldn't have made such an offer... but he was confident that soon it wouldn't make much of a difference.

Merrill nodded. He had the whip. Seems that this navi HAD defeated him. With a nod, Merrill spoke.
" You can have the whip, if you want. Otherwise, I'll destroy it. It is an abomination, and has taken lives of those I love. I have no desire for it."
Merrill nodded, with thanks again. He walked forward, keeping his eyes locked on Xyz as he approched. He exctended his hand in respnse, as a thank you.
"Thank you."

"My dear, we still have the matter of my favor to discuss. The whip is nice, but it is... not what I had in mind." He willed away his helmet, and it dematerialized in a bright green flash - a new trick he'd taught himself to save time. His tongue danced across his lips, his scales glimmered in the sunlight like polished rocks. And his EYES... his eyes were like beautiful, arresting amethysts. The deep, rich purple hues seemed to grow more intense by the second, their inner light shining through and evident even in the glare of the desert sun.
The glow was entrancing... intoxicating... heavy with the power of hypnotic suggestion. His voice came from his mouth now, and it was smooth... so smooth, like a river-washed stone... terribly tempting, quietly compelling, gently reassuring, and oh so coldly sweet.
"Come closer, dear. It's all right. Give me a hug and a kiss, sweetie. The trouble is over now. He's gone and taken care of... it's only us. No one will see. No one needs to know. Let me complete the happiness of the occassion..."

Merrill semed entranced by the navi's eyes. He was safe. He owed this navi a hug. His eyes... So entrancing. His eyes made him feel comfortable... Safe...As he approched, Healer started making noises as she ran up to him and pulled at his leg. Merrill ignored her however, and continued moved forward. Healer stopped, and charged energy, preparing a fireball. Merrill was just a few feet away when Healer threw it at him. Merrill seemed to freeze a moment. However, he shrugged it off, and continued to close the gap. Merrill was about a foot away when he spoke, spreading his arms wide for a hug.
"Thank you..."
Merrill smiled, the sides of his mouth barely turning up. Then, Merrill's right hand made a fist, and he threw it square at the navi's face, with lightning speed. Hit or miss, the pillar behind where the navi had stood trembled as a large crack split up in it, the epicenter being whereever the navi's head was, or where Merrill's hand crushed into it. Only time would tell...
Healer made a face from where she stood. She did her job. She ran up to Merrill, and hugged his leg. She saved him. But she knew that the danger wouldn't be overthat quick. It never was. She charged up for a second fireball, in case the navi tried some other trick.

The pause had been a dead giveaway. Xyzillentz ducked just in time to avoid the punch, leaping off to the side as he did so in order to keep from being pinned. He stood back up once his momentum was spent, and the speaker on his chest activated.
Instead of carrying his voice, though, it blasted an incredibly high-pitched screech in a concentrated "cone of sound" like a beam. He considered blasting that annoying little virus as punishment for his interference... but no. Better to focus on the stronger, more immediate threat. The noise shot through the air towards Merrill, the sound waves so rapid and full of energy they served as a powerful weapon able to distort and damage code.
"You should have submitted. Things would've been quick and easy that way."

Merrill turned just in time to see Xyz send his attack. While Merrill did not have enough time to dodge it, he had enough time to move so he didn't take the full force of the attack. He felt the ringing in his ears. He covered them, and shook his head a few times, trying to get rid of the annoying ringing.
"Neat trick."
Turning to face Xyz, he spoke causually, stretching his legs while he did so. He never did take his eyes off Xyz, however.
"I guess the pause gave it away. Haha. No matter. I guess I need to practice my acting."
Merrill smiled. He had a feeling his opponent was holding back. He thought for a moment, deciding on a course of action.
"He seems to be holding back. He has to be. If he DID defeat him, which I am beginning to doubt. But he is hiding his power. I suppose I will to. This is just a warm up to him... to us. Besides, I'd rather warm up now, and have energy fr later, than burn out and get myself killed later."
Merrill tapped his foot twice, and then walked forword casually. He continued walking, blocking Healer from view. As soon as he did so, Healer started charging up energy for an attack. He decided that if Xyz was gonna hold back, he would too. He'd delve into his bag of tricks if and when he got an opening. Or if he was in a bind, and needed to save himself or Healer.
Merrill stopped a few feet shy of Xyz, and spoke again. He decided to stick with a hand to hand assault.
"You epect me to just submit? Ha. You must be getting delirious from the heat."
His smile dissapeared, replaced with a ferce look in his eyes.
"Your greed got the best of you. I thanked you for "Helping" me. You took advantage of my kindness, and you attacked me. That was a mistake. You should have left me alone. I do not take threats to Healer, myself, or anyone I care about. A costly mistake."
He charged at Xyz, closing the distance in mear moments. He threw a left punch, then a right punch, using his momentum to spin and aim a kick. Jumping back, he sprinted at Xyz for one last attack, only to jump at the last second, a torent of flame appearing in the place Merrill had just been. Merrill landed, and watched the raging flame. AFter Healer stoppedm Healer moved up next to him, and climbed on his shoulder.

I'm really sorry, but I don't know what it is... I've just lost all motivation and ideas for this battle. I don't want to leave you in suspense forever or string you along with half-baked crap, so I'm forfeiting. I would like to try again sometime, though.
20 / 200 base to Xyz 50 / 500 base to Merrill
