THIS IS A CLOSED TOPIC Participants: UFAlien Quick Omega For balance reasons, Kosoku's Story Version is being set at 7 for this thread only. _______________________________________________ The moonlight danced through a silent screen of haze, drenching the forest in an ethereal light and casting shadows dark yet soft. There had been rain recently, before the arrival of the rising silver orb. The leaves and grass gently glistened. The swaying of the branches made the shards of light dance as if to the haunting melody of a piano. He remembered the piano, the one in the corner of his room. He had inherited it from his mother, a kindly soul blessed with the gift for composition. He'd never had much use for it, lacking that particular talent. But there were nights he'd spent alone in his home, lying in bed with the covers up to his neck and the window cracked open so he could hear the whistling of the air. There were nights when the wind was so cold that all the tears would freeze and he felt his eyes were sealing shut forever. Those were the nights when he looked to the piano and its crystal keys and saw - just for a moment, through the lens of ice - his mother's form, playing him a lullaby as when he was a child. Underneath the snow white moon, within the silver-blue air, Nightwind crouched in hiding. His eyes were fixated on a target - a small village of wooden shacks and sparse gardens. His wings were folded behind him, held - as the rest of his body - in a tensed state, waiting to strike. Within the village, no one stirred. But along the outskirts, others wandered...

Just inside the tree line, but still able to see into the village if he turned at looked, waited Quickman. He seemed relaxed, bit a experienced observer could tell he was alert and on the watch for anything that might disturb the peaceful village. Honestly it was boring to him, but he wouldn't argue the pay they offered to help guard the town from the recent attacks from viruses and bandits. That was the only thing that kept him from finding something else to do, the rush and excitement of battle was somewhat of an addiction for him. It allowed him to push his speed to its limits and see what he could REALLY do.
"Man I could really go for an attack...nothing has happened in almost a week...I hope I didn't scare them off or anything. Hahaha. ". The thought of how helpless the last attempted raid was, they hadn't even managed to get with in 10 feet of him with their attacks...and boy they were looking rough when they scampered off. But he shouldn't really think that way, these people didn't deserve to be hounded by bandits. He just wanted some excitement again. Maybe he would go look for a bounty or something next...

"Attention Villagers!"
Kosoku's voice rang out in the middle of the village. He was standing in the middle of a rather large water puddle, moving often into different poses as he introduced himself. Water splashed around as he took small steps to match his animated stances. Even though it was the middle of the night in this god forsaken village, Kosoku made as much noise as he could to get as much attention as possible. God had sent his messenger, and it was imperative that everyone was imparted that knowledge immediately.
"Awaken from your slumber and feast your eyes on glory! I have traveled far and long to send the blessings of heaven to you this very night! For I am sent by the Light of the Night Sky to pass on a message to all in this village: a message that must be heard! Watch as even the moon comes out to hear my words of grandeur! Come and behold Kosoku: The Voice of Midnight!"
The truth was that Kosoku was sent here by his operator. In the real world, Brian was busy pulling an all nighter in a coffee shop for a final the next day, which Kosoku wanted no part in. Brian had jacked him in the coffee shop's network to give him something to do, which brought Kosoku here. With nothing else to do but boost his ego (which he seemed to be doing a lot of recently), Kosoku decided that making a scene was a good idea.
Several napping Navis awoke from their standby state to see what all of the fuss was about. Most of them ignored the ignorant Navi, but some stayed out and watched Kosoku's performance. Either way, Kosoku was getting the attention that he was looking for, whether it was for better or worse.

Quickman raised an eye brow as he suddenly heard the voice of a navi booming through the area...not quite the excitement he was thinking of, but it beat nothing...he decided to investigate. Walking towards the voice he heard, it became clearer and he could make out what the navi was babbling about just as he finished by introducing himself. The navi stopped talking and Quick finally made his way around the last. Building between him and Kosoku.
"The voice of midnight huh?" quickman started, chuckling a bit before continuing. " You missed midnight by about an hour buddy...Kosoku was it? Mind filling me in on just what the bright idea waking the navis around here from their sleep is? Surely being someone is what sounds like SUCH an important position would be able to give me a reasonable answer am I right?" .
Protecting the village from crazy egotistical navis wasn't in the fine print...but it wouldn't hurt to be safe and make sure he wasn't a crazy egotistical bandit or darkloid or something...and besides, for what ever reason he found this amusing.

What an... odd distraction. Nightwind would not have minded this diversion were it not for the fact that it had awoken so many of the locals. For the moment, he bided his time and remained hidden in the bushes. Perhaps these two problems would sort one another out. If not, he would need to devise a new plan...

Kosoku gave a hardy laugh. "You are not one to appreciate the art of speech, are you? That is fine, denizen of this...lovely place." He gave a sarcastic glance at one of the buildings as he spoke. "My words are merely a tool to enrich others of the perfection of the gods. The fact I have arrived is more than enough to improve the poor conditions of this forgotten village. My words, my very presence, is a blessing to all no matter what hour the clock strikes. Such sheltered Navis like yourself should feel honored to meet someone as marvelous as I.
Tell me, friend, what is your name so that I may know whom I bless."

Quickman simply stared at Kosoku for a moment as he listened to his little speech. Shaking his head at the end before he replied. " Man I dunno what your on...but I almost want some...almost. The name is Quickman, or just Quick if you please. I'll have you know I am not in any way sheltered, its just my job as a hired guard for the city to investigate disturbances. And currently your the only one around." Quickman sighed a bit before continuing. I am guessing I can't convince the spokesman of the gods to tone it down some before people get annoyed? We have had some problems with bandits and viruses lately, and they would much appearciate some quiet. Honestly he didn't care either ways but he figured it wouldn't hurt to have tried for them, he just didn't want them docking his pay for a lousy job.

What inane gibberish the green one was spouting. If he were truly a servant of whatever gods this dimension had, Nightwind was unimpressed. They had been unable or unwilling to interfere in his Lord's invasion, after all. And if this was their best strategy for spreading their influence, they clearly had no idea what they were doing. Of course, the winged warrior doubted the veracity of this stranger's claims.
No matter. The situation called for careful consideration. More and more of the villagers were waking up and leaving their homes to see what was happening. That would be a good thing if they weren't also in the center of a clearing with perfect visibility. He decided upon using a tried-and-true tactic: distraction.
Nightwind unfurled his batlike wings and sent a gust across the clearing and to the side of the village, creating a loud rustling in the bushes and trees on the other side of the cluster of houses. He tensed the muscles in his legs, preparing to begin his search at the soonest opportunity.

Before Kosoku could respond to Quickman, a loud gust filled the air, rustling bushes and trees on the other side of the town. If one didn't know better, they would have assumed that it was just the weather acting strangely, but good ol' Kos knew exactly what it was. All Quick had to do was mention bandits before EVERYTHING became suspicious to the overzealous Navi. Instead of looking where the wind could have originated, Kosoku went over to the bushes and immediately began to call out to what he thought were viruses.
"Come out, vile denizens of the Undernet! You stand no chance against my power, even though you shield your appearance from me. I will show you quick justice if only you would admit your folly!"

Quickman listened to the sound of the shrubs and trees move from the gust of wind that seemed to come from nowhere. He turned to look up at the sky, in the direction the gust came from. But soon shook his head and sighed, deciding keeping an eye on the eccentric navi was more important for the time being.
Quickman came up beside Kos and looked into the bushes and tried to make out anything for him self, not believing for a minute that the other navi had seen anything, or would for that matter with all the shouting he was doing. Quickman couldn't help but feel like something was up though so he would glance around and behind him every once in awhile to try to easy his mind. Surely only this nut job was the only thing that would be disturbing the peace tonight right?

Now that the guard and the interloper were distracted, Nightwind bounded into the village, his wings folding back into their compact forms behind his back. His armor clinked ever so slightly as he ran - hopefully not enough to be noticed.
As he'd hoped, the villagers had followed the other two navis along to the edge of the clearing. Still, some of them had begun to lose interest and turn back. Swiftly, the winged warrior turned into the first house on his right - the door was unlocked. He closed it behind him and began examining the house's interior, ignoring the loud "clunk" of wood against wood as the entrance slammed shut.
He had been looking too long already. It had to be here - he didn't know where else to go. It had to be here.

Kosoku continued to stare at the bush, remaining silent for once in his life. When it came to taking his time and being methodical, Kosoku was less than efficient. He stood and listened for anything in the bush for entirely too long before he heard a door slam.
"HA! I have found you, villain!"
Using his superior speed, Kos turned toward the house he thought the noise originated from and was at the threshold in no time. Despite all reason and logic (because he really didn't know if it was a trespasser or not), Kosoku kicked down the door and looked in. He expected to see something...ANYTHING...suspicious.
"Show yourself!"

Quickman heard the door too, but hadn't thought it was more then an angry navi going back inside after this whole ruckus Kos had made so far. But much to his dismay the other navi had his mind made up already and dashed off towards the house the sound seemed to originate from. With out missing a beat Quick took off after him, but couldn't stop him from kicking down the door and peering inside.
" What the 'Ell are you doing ?! Did you stop to think maybe it was someone angry at your disturbances that slammed the door to THEIR home? " Quick had just about had it with this guy, and would be fine with trying to subdue him so he and the villagers could have some peace from his ramblings and destructive nature. But even then he couldn't help but look inside as well, expecting an angry homeowner over this whole mess.

There was no homeowner inside... in fact, it seemed as though there was nothing inside. Kosoku's loud proclamations had driven Nightwind into hiding...
The house seemed rather normal. The bedsheets were in disarry, as would be expected when their occupant had been so rudely awakened. There was a single, lit candle on the bedside table - it was a minor miracle it hadn't fallen and started a fire when Kosoku kicked down the door. There was a fireplace and chimney on one side of the room, constructed of chipped bricks. There were still blackened logs in the fireplace, accompanied by a bit of a smoky aroma - it had been put out recently, perhaps just before the resident had gone to sleep.
The house was built around this fireplace, and it served as a central "axle" to the four rooms. The front door opened into the bedroom, complete with the fireplace. To the right was a living room with a single sofa, sitting in the middle of the room and slightly askew. To the rear of the right side was the kitchen, with a table draped all the way down to the floor in an ornate cloth. There was a closet door in the side of the wall here, ever so slightly ajar. The final room was for storage. There were shelves upon shelves of seemingly random items, in addition to a few strewn about messily on the floor. The rows were arranged haphazardly into a sort of maze.

After kicking down the door, Kosoku stared into the house like he had stared at the bush. He ignored Quick's disapproval of breaking into the house, mostly because Kos was in his own little world at this point. He looked for something that would give him any sort of clue as to who had entered the house.
Kosoku wasn't the most observant Navi ever, so he simply just stood past the threshold of the house and looked. There had to be some sort of clue (unknown to Kos) that would give him some sort of hint.
