The water fell from the sky ceaselessly. Drops of warm liquid cried by grey clouds splashed into the damp terrain below. The swamp was awash with ripples, endless little waves that collided into one another and gave the area an unreal quality. The water and the reflections it held shimmered like a mirage some long-lost traveler would come upon in a desolate desert. The abundant foliage took the storm's sounds and seemed to amplify them; the pitter-patter of raindrops loud on the leaves.
Xyzillentz stood on the relatively dry land lining the scum-filled wetlands. The ground sank beneath his feet, leaving behind footprints which filled quickly with the rainwater. He surveyed the surface of the water as it undulated. It was full of simulated life, and nourished that which was around it. What would happen if he were to enter it? To feel the water on his skin would be a rare treat, a sensation that had long eluded him. But what of the downsides? His body would taint the water. His toxic essence would invade it, working its way into the trees and the algae and the reeds. They would drink it in steadily as always... a soft, slow, secret suicide. With his one action, something so simple as going for a dip in the rain, he could trick an entire ecosystem into destroying itself.
What beautiful darkness that thought carried.
Realizing there were no downsides after all, he proceeded with his plan. He began by removing his helmet, exposing his scales to the drops from the heavens. They felt good, running over his face much as they ran down the jungle bark. If the trees were the face of the forest, the forest was crying. But it was all right. Soon he would free it from all its troubles.

"...There. I think I lost them."
Wading through the swamp water was none other than the peace-shattering Kosoku. The natural chaos of the rain hitting the water was replaced by the ripples created by Kosoku's movements, interrupting part of the natural beauty in the area. He wasn't moving very fast through the swamp, but it seemed that he didn't need to anymore. In a stroke of bad luck, he had upset a local village when he jumped on their ancient shrine earlier that day. Apparently the locals weren't fond of people degrading their monuments, even if they were replicated in data form, and they had nothing better to do but to chase down Kosoku for most of the day. It seemed that they had finally given up shortly after he had made it to the swamp. The down pouring rain also helped, but it just meant more misfortune for Kosoku.
The torrential downpour of rain made it difficult to see in the swamp, but Kosoku was at least able to see the outline of a figure standing on part of the land. With little other options at his disposal, Kosoku slowly trudged through the swamp's murky depths until he made it to the Navi. Details of the figure were impossible to make out through the rain as he got closer, which most likely also meant that it was impossible for others to see who he was. He yelled out in hopes to make an ally in this rather foreign area.
"Hello there! I'm the Uncatchable Kosoku! You've probably heard of such a great Navi like myself, so maybe you'd like the honor of giving me a hand."

The torrential tableau was disrupted by some rude, arrogant navi. Even his voice was grating, an unwelcome noise that ruined the precipitation's patterns of sound. Frustrated at this intrusion, Xyzillentz placed his helmet on the ground beside him and glared through the moist air.
Even as the rage built up within him it was washed away by the falling rain, leaving annoyance and curiosity in its wake. Clearly this was some backwater navi from the area - famous around here, but unknown to the outside net. Or perhaps he was simply deluded. Either way, the best way to find out would be to let things play out naturally, at least for the moment. Perhaps an interesting opportunity would arise.
He spoke matter-of-factly to the shape in the swamp, a scholar's detachment in his voice. "I have no idea who you are, Kosoku, but continue making this much noise and you may need to devise a new title for yourself. If you wish me to assist you, feel free to ask. But I make no guarantees - and there WILL be a price to pay."

Such a hostile response was not what Kosoku had in mind. He wasn't sure why he wouldn't receive anything other than shock and awe from the stranger, but he was even more clueless as to what he had done to upset the Navi. By this point he was now on the bank, and was more than close enough to get a good look at Xyz.
"...WOAH! No wonder you've never heard of me. You look like you just crawled out of this swamp and grew arms and legs! Just don't tell me you're just like those ignorant villagers who get all upset when they see such perfection as myself."
Perfection wasn't the word to describe Kosoku's current appearance. Dirty and homeless were a better description for the out-of-place city boy. His armor looked dull and old, which was covered in random swamp muck and grass. You couldn't even tell that his armor was green unless you looked at his upper torso, which was still pretty filthy. The yellow scarf that Kosoku so prided himself in no longer fluttered in a wind that wasn't there, but simply hung low down his back like a cape. Kosoku might not be in a presentable state, but at least he didn't have a serpent's head and a plain black body.
Kosoku continued to dig his own grave. "And if anyone should be paying any kind of price, it should be YOU paying ME. Its not every day that a swamp dweller like yourself gets to see what a modern age Navi is like, let alone be able to witness the infamous Kosoku in a place like this. So you should just be kind and do the right thing and help point me in the direction of the nearest village so I can get my Operator to get me out of here."

The snakeman rolled his rancid eyes as the wind rustled the leaves. He shook his head in a melancholy manner, a sigh carried off in the gust. "You're arrogant and vain, an insignificant imbecile. I've had my share of trials and I've journeyed far and wide... and I've learned a thing or two about people like you." He paused. "But not actually you, of course. You're a nobody."
He glanced away from the wretched runaway in the swamp, stopping to collect his thoughts. After a moment he spoke decisively. "You're clearly ambitious, and that is good. You can use that. More importantly, I can use that. But it would seem you need a crash course in how the world works."
He turned back to Kosoku, a suspicious smirk upon his face. "I've decided I will help you after all - as your mentor. We'll begin with lesson #1: don't make yourself a target until you've assessed those around you. For example-"[/color]
Where the next word should've been, the toxic terror's jaw instead came unhinged, opening sickeningly wide. A geyser of green, stinky, highly acidic gas shot out from his mouth aimed squarely at the braggart in the muck.

Kosoku raised his fist in anger as he took a step forward. Xyz's insult was an unforgivable crime that must be corrected, and it was now Kosoku's mission to purge such belittling thoughts from the snake's mind. He knew exactly how he'd impress the stranger and how to convince him that he wasn't as insignificant he seemed. But first, Xyz would put on a freak show and spray some sort of gas from his mouth.
It was a strange sight indeed, and it was one that caused Kosoku to flinch from disgust and shock. The gas poured itself rather quickly towards him, covering an unmoving Kosoku in a green fog of poison. As the toxin and Kosoku mixed together, the image of the overzealous Navi began to disappear, becoming one with the gas itself before he simply just vanished in the wind.
"You know, there's a reason why I call myself uncatchable."
Kosoku now stood behind Xyz back-to-back for dramatic effect. In an action of pure instinct, Kosoku had activated his God's Illusion ability to avoid the surprise attack, leaving nothing but an after image of Kosoku where he had previously stood and sending Kosoku a safe distance away from the attack. This ability might be handy to get out of a sticky situation, but Kosoku could only use it a certain number of times before he had to rely on his natural speed. Still, it helped when you could teleport at will.
In an attempt to retaliate, Kosoku brought his left arm over his body as he tucked his right hand by his waste. He spun to his left as he delivered a horizontal chop at the snake's neck, following it up with a low punch with his right arm. It was a rather simple attack, but Kosoku kept a confident smirk on his face as he went on the offensive.

A teleporter? How annoying. At least I can see where some of his overconfidence comes from. Xyzillentz' thought flashed through his head almost as quickly as his opponent reappeared behind him. His corrosive breath floated off harmlessly into the air, raindrops punching pinholes in its form as it was carried off on the breeze.
Hearing Kosoku's voice was enough to convince Xyzillentz to go on the defensive. That was a benefit of the rain... it brought him into his melancholy moods, but it also cleared his mind and aided his focus. He ducked down, arching his flexible back and bringing his face down to the ground. He was close enough to smell its mellow scent, a mildewy mixture of earthen tones.
He sprung back up quickly, lashing out his toxic tongue, coated in sedating saliva - a thick, green, gooey substance that blended in with the muck in the environment. He spoke as he reeled it back in, the calm in his voice unwavering despite the condescending connotation of his words. "Lesson #2: If you want to surprise your opponent, don't give away your position by screaming like an idiot."

A sharp sting pierced through Kosoku's armor as Xyz's tongue darted at his chest. The attack hadn't really cause much external damage, but the needle-like pain seemed to corrupt his internal data much more than what was apparent. The constant feeling of stabbing only grew worse as the toxin spread.
Not being one to dwell too much on his own condition, Kosoku ignored the attack's implications and took his fight to where the battle really was at: their vocal exchange.
"Don't berate me!" Kosoku's words were sharp and bitter, but the undieing confidence of the mud-soaked warrior still clung to his tone much like the muck did to his armor. "I'm more than strong enough to hold my own, even against a beast as ugly as you! Now fight me like a Navi, or slither back into this swamp where you came from!"
Kosoku took advantage of the distance between the two fighters, going in for a close combat offensive. He raised his leg and delivered 3 swift kicks, all directed towards Xyz's torso.
Wait. He thought to himself. Only 3?
Something was wrong. Kosoku's entire body felt like it was moving through the swamp, despite the fact he was now on land. It was usually easy for him to get out at least 5 kicks in the same amount of time, but something had changed. The poison from the snakeman's tongue had slowed his reflexes, splitting his normally lightning-fast speed in half. Kosoku forced his body to move as fast as he could, but his speed would only match that of a basic Navi.
This better not last long. Moving at this speed is unbearable!

Once again the warrior's words betrayed him. In the time it took Kosoku to spout off his latest nonsense, Xyzillentz had anticipated his attack. It didn't take much to maneuver out of its way when it finally came. He didn't directly counter - he knew he had an advantage for the moment and wasn't terribly concerned about the actual battle. More pressing was his analysis of the arrogant attacker beside him.
Perhaps he isn't worth my time... some people are so lost not even the rain can wash away the clutter in their hopeless heads. Still, I'm not finished with him just yet.
As his feet trampled the damp grass, Xyzillentz activated the speakers on his suit. They played piercing tones, higher than may could hear, which resonated endlessly through the air. The nefarious noise seemed to echo forever as it was reflected off the trees and the hills and the water's slimy surface. It was a specially-selected series of pitches; it had been picked for its tendency to disrupt to mental processes of most navis. Soon enough it switched to a painfully low bass, which shook the jungle and made blades of grass vibrate vigorously.
"Lesson #3: Your mind is a great asset, and you should use it while you can." He smirked and laughed lightly at his own joke in advance. "Obviously something you need work on."

Kosoku could feel his senses numbing as the silent melody attacked his eardrums. The rain had drowned out any possibility of hearing the pitch, replacing it instead of a sort of pseudo insanity that crept into his thoughts. Little by little he could feel his mind slipping as his body became weaker. His hands were now holding his head as he struggled to keep his mind clear.
No! I will not fall for such tricks again!
Wind began to circle Kosoku's body. It started slow, but it quickly picked as a low grunt escaped his throat. With teeth barred, Kosoku flexed his entire body causing the wind around him to accelerate quickly. In an instant, the wind released itself as it gave a small push to anything in his immediate area. It wouldn't affect Xyz, but it was strong enough to throw the swamp goo off of his body, as well as give his ears a break from Xyz's attack. He yelled with a renewed confidence in his abilities, ready to continue the fight properly and unhindered.
"That won't work on me!"
With lessons (somewhat) learned, Kosoku immediately stooped down into a running position. His body was quickly covered in a black energy, turning details into no more than shadows. The rain passed through his body as it formed puddles where Kosoku's feet had planted themselves. As quickly as he could, he ran straight for Xyz and kept his body close to the ground. None of the water or mud was disturbed, and not a sound came from Kosoku as he ran. He aimed to run straight through Xyz to damage his internal data in one quick pass of his body. He just hoped that there would be no time for retaliation.

The sudden zephyr from the navi's body raced across the dastardly darkloid. He could feel the air rolling over his scales one by one, moving with the contours of his aerodynamic face. As he heard the defiant cry of his opponent, he knew to brace for an attack.
Like the fog rising off of the swamp waters, darkness seeped from the surface of his suit and into the air. The black mist formed into a shield in front of him and solidified - just in time. Darkness met blackness head-on as Kosoku slammed into the shield. There was a distinct feeling of impact and the serpentine sinner found himself pushed back a bit; the attack was stronger than he had anticipated and the wet grass squeaking beneath his feet certainly wasn't lending him much in the way of traction.
Still, the shield held through the assault. It dissolved into the humid air only once the energy surrounding Kosoku had dissipated, and it was then that Xyzillentz made a move that was either brilliant or seriously senseless. He may not be the best at strategizing, but he's fairly strong. I'll need to fix that.
The frightening fog of darkness bled off of his tight grey suit once again as Xyzillentz extended his arms and launched his body into the navi that had so kindly closed the space between them. He looped his arms around, aiming to catch the wind warrior in an evil embrace - one that would weaken him further and hopefully seal the outcome of the battle. And besides... he's not a bad looker.

A loud thud range out as Kosoku bashed into the hastily created shield, stopping the undefended shadow right in his place. He didn't expect the block to work, but sure enough Kosoku had run into it face first. As far as he knew, there wasn't anything in the world that could stop his Dark Matter Rush as easily as Xyz did. Did the shield's energy counter Kosoku's? Either way, the impact had left Kosoku dazed. He remained on his feet and took a few steps back to keep his balance. The shadow energy that once surrounded his body quickly faded as the rain once again began to make contact with his armor.
The snake-like arms of Xyz had quickly wrapped themselves around Kosoku, pinning his arms and scarf in its firm embrace. It was fitting for a snake to trap its prey in such a way, but Kosoku couldn't help but smirk. He could feel his body weakening further as his limbs were crushed from the increasing pressure, but he still kept that cocky smile amidst his wincing. For the first time during the fight, Xyz had finally used a straightforward attack that Kosoku could respect. Everything else the darkloid had done was very underhanded and sneaky, but Xyz's recent actions were exactly what Kosoku expected from his fights: a simple contest of strength between two warriors.
"Yeah! Now this is what I'm talking about!"
Several grunts escaped Kosoku's lips as he pushed against Xyz with all of his might. He closed his eyes and bit his lip between pushes, panting and wiggling as their bodies fought against each other. As hard as he tried, the snake was just too much for Kosoku to handle by usual means. Xyz was on top of things now, but Kosoku was going to blow his mind with a change of strategies.
Kosoku's chest began to rise, growing bigger and bigger as air began to fill his lungs. He sucked as hard as he could, filling his mouth as much as he could to prepare for what would come next. When he was ready, Kosoku released his load, blowing everything he had sucked right in Xyz's face. His body might have been limited by the snake, but he still blew as hard as he could to get Xyz off of him.

Xyzillentz held tightly to the man beneath him, his body dripping with sweat beneath his skintight suit. The rain rolled like a raging river down the sleek curves of his form, relieving some of the intense heat of their passionate activities. The slender snake felt the smaller man pushing against him, heaving, breathing heavily, taking in deep gasps. He was too caught up in the moment to act, too distracted by his own racing heartbeat and his mental machinations.
Although he was holding Kosoku within his arms, Xyzillentz himself felt captured - captured by sweetly sinful fantasies floating through his hopeful head. It all swirled together, mixing like dark shades of paint; his red hot feelings for the other, bursting with excitement, and the steely blue calm of the omnipresent rain. They blended together into a whirlpool of luscious lavender. His tongue snaked its way out of his moist mouth, flickering over Kosoku's face. He could do it now. It would be so satisfying, planting a killer's kiss onto those lovely lips, making his way inside, bringing the action to a climax...
And then all at once a gust of wind sent him flying off of his unwilling captive. His wet arms slid off of Kosoku's weakened body as he went soaring through the swamp. His light, flexible body worked against him as he was blown back several feet, landing in a putrid puddle of mud and rain and who-knows-what. The impact jolted him back into the moment, tearing him away from his thoughts.
Despite the pain and the shock, the darkloid smiled as he stood, gazing over once more at the arrogant air-user. "Not bad at all, my dear. Perhaps I could use you. You'll need some work, sure, but anyone with a talent like that could find great success in the service of sin. Especially with instruction from the right... companion."
The torrential tempest continued its dance, rippling the water of the pond and filling the air with sounds of pounding precipitation. For a moment, Xyzillentz had been excited, fired up. But, as always, the storm doused the flames in his soul, and he returned to his cool contemplation. He paused for a moment, just to feel the water on his face. In this course of events he'd nearly forgotten his previous plan. A dip would still be nice once the battle is through, he decided.
Once more he spoke, his voice colder. "I know it seems I'm breaking one of my rules, but I'm not trying to surprise you. I don't need to.".
At that he launched an acrid assault, the vents on his suit unleashing billowing clouds of built-up toxic gas in all directions. The gloomy swamp life withered and browned at its touch, the overwhelming odor filling the air, carried by the miasmic mist. Under the cover of the foul fog, Xyzillentz lashed out his tongue once more, swinging it through the stench-filled air hoping to make contact. Acid fumes erupted from his gullet, shooting straight at Kosoku's last visible position. Finally the speakers roared to life once more, playing that same perfectly piercing pitch and spreading through the squalid swamp.
