[bgcolor=black]In the depths of the Undernet, a monster was born. With wicked claws and the speed of a jet, this navi was a natural born assassin. Slinking in the shadows, this navi kept to the dark. Solitude, until an unlucky victim came near. All his victims left without a trace. No one knew what become of these navis. Then, this navi went silent- dormant, more precisely. He remained under the concealment of silence for years.
Until now. Now, the monster has risen from the shadows once more and escaped into the upper cyberworld, continuing these mysterious assassinations for weeks. Never seen in daylight, this evil being lurks in the shadows. Who will be the next to encounter ths fiend?
((OOC: Up to three other navis will be participating. You may work as a team or separately. Inform me via OOC who you are posting with, and I will add his/her name to the chart.))

(( Seeing as how I'm pretty sure Amaterasu and Kajira would kill one another, given that that battle is a story battle, I'll bring K-414 along for the ride. I'm on lunch now but I'll try to get a post up after I get offa work ))

((All right! 3 for 4. One slot left, and the creature's story version will be matched to yours' (According to group battle regulations. Thus, the group total and the creature total will be 16. Subject to change slightly if someone else shows up. Monster will not increase more than 1 or 2 levels.) And thank you, Xen! Saved me thinking time on where to put the creature.))

Finale stood against a streetlight in a highly populated area, the safest place to be since the assassinations began. It was a little unnerving really, he was more use to standing alone in rooftops and alleys. Personal preference didn't matter now, in the hubbub of several people he was just another face in the crowd.
Life was cruel, acting as a mercenary, which was Finale's newest hobby since his run in with Embera. He was currently hired by a mob boss friendly gentleman with a near obsessive grudge against a monster that had killed his brother. He had been barely described with the only thing consistent in accounts was his huge, menacing claws. It was a foolish job to take, which is precisely why Finale chose to take it.
Now, to wait for the time to strike.

K-414 lurked within the shadows, a certain irritability about him. It had been a long time since the Animus Syndicate had placed him on an assignment, and when they had, the one was something that was...definitely out of this world. His mind flickered over the data again, even as he sat within the shadows. Whatever it was, the creature was a loathesome beast which delighted, or so it seemed, on the killing of others. It lived in the Undernet, only emerging to kill, and then it retreated once more. The Animus Syndicate was fairly certain that the cause of these killings was a malicious virus, and thus had K-414 been dispatched to take care of the situation.
"I don't like this, Richard," growled under his breath, his lupine form hidden from the light as his red eyes glared out from the shadows. "Not one darn bit." The wolf didn't even really know what he was looking for, as the stench of virii seemed to fill the streets; even he had trouble distinguishing one from another. He didn't understand how he was supposed to find this thing, whatever it was. Except for waiting for it to kill someone and then follow its scent back to where it had come from. Maybe.
"Well just keep an eye out, and I'll look and see what I can find from here," Richard spoke, the P.E.T. connected to a PC. "Don't get yourself killed out there, K."
The wolf-navi merely grunted before moving out onto the street. He moved on all fours like a wolf, stalking the streets as he looked for any and all leads to his target.

[bgcolor=black]((OOC: So Adenah isn't gonna be on here anymore. It's just the three of us (look at top) who are in here naow.))
The icy giant known as Namkcab stood on a cliff edge, looking over the city set before him. The assassinations had become secondhand knowledge to him. Every navi on the net was talking about it. Many of them stayed shut up in their homepages out of fear.
But Namkcab knew that life goes on, and that you must be very careful nowadays. "You know, we can't just sit here and do nothing, Namkcab. We have to put a stop to this," Namkcab's OP, Kyle, told the navi. Namkcab silently agreed, and in the final daylight hours, he made his way into the city. He reached the city square at the start of nightfall.
~~~~~
Nightfall. It was time to start the creature's usual round. He silently slunk his way through the back alleyways, keeping a vigilant eye for late-nighters. A prime specimen stood in the city square, under a street light. The monster creeped forward, but leapt back- two others were walking his way, but the monster didn't was to cause mass chaos. Not yet, anyway. He jumped up to a second story building next to him. The owner of the building left a small crack in the window, just the right size for the monster to slip his claws through and push the window up, thrusting his way into the building.
The monster crept through the building like smoke. He inspected every room. Nothing. He finally worked his way down to the final room. The one with the front door. The shopkeeper navi was locking the door for the night. The monstrous navi then snuck out of a first floor window, followed by a trail of navi data. The monster was not ingnorant, he knew the death of this navi would be on the news by tomorrow, but he did not care. He continued his round, assassinating two more victims, then finished up by falling back in pitch darkness, plenty of hours of nightfall left.
((I sure hope the guy standing under a street lamp was NOT Finale Xp)) Finale: Surprising! And surprising it was as a wolf like navi ran on all fours right in front of Finale. It seemed to have forgotton how to stay in the shadows. The beast was large and wolf like and appeared very strong. He yelled at K-414, who he thought was his target, and threw his signature sword [glow=white,2,300]WhirlWind[/glow]right at the beast.
Finale: You! Wolf Navi! Prepare to die 'cuz your about to!!!
The wolf moved through the city like a phantom, its senses strained outward as it tried to find a suitable target for its mission. Yet as he moved, there was nothing that seemed out of the ordinary...the city was quiet, save for the few late-night bars that stayed open for the Navi to gather and enjoy themselves. After rounding another corner, K-414 came to a stop, standing more or less upright as one hand leaned against a light pole. "You find anything? Any leads?" he asked his NetOP.
"I got nothin'," came the sighing response of Richard. "Whatever this thing is, it's good. It knows things are out looking for it, and it's not attacking. Or, if it is, it's choosing targets that are isolated so as to not arouse suspicion."
K-414 gave a grunt, not bothering to respond as he took off again, darting through the streets. As he passed by another streetlamp, he glanced up to see another Navi standing. He paid that one no mind until he heard a call of apparent (misplaced) anger.
"You! Wolf Navi! Prepare to die 'cuz you're about to!!!"
K-414's left claw was upon the ground and he used it as a pivot, slinging his body around to face the man, when he saw the blade rapidly approaching. He darted to the side, and the weapon drove into the concrete-like data, where he'd been just a moment ago. "You wanna fight, Navi? I'll rip you to shreds..." he growled low under his breath.
"K, we don't have time for this. We've got to locate the killer."
The wolf-navi clenched a fist before slamming it into the ground. "You're off lucky tonight, Navi. There's an assassin on the loose, and I'm working to catch that murderous creature. So if you don't wanna die...stay out of my way," K-414 growled again, his red eyes watching the other carefully.
[bgcolor=black] Namkcab followed along the sidewalk in the misty night at an even pace. His ever-keen eyes snapped up when he saw Finale, of all navis, prepare to launch an attack against one of Aluminum's allies- K-414. Namkcab quickened his pace to Finale, and right before he got to Finale, the wolf-navi took off in another direction. "Elanif, Finale," Namkcab greeted. With the aid of his translating box, Namkcab discussed with Finale about the assassinations. "?nwod tsaeb siht ekat ot ecnailla na mrof ew dluohS, Should we form an alliance to take this beast down?"[/color] Namkcab asked Finale quietly. He knew the beast could be watching and strike at any time.[/color] ~~ And that is exactly what the beast was doing. While he was concealed in pitch-black darkness, he took note of the entire conversations, from Finale wondering what to do, to the confrontation of K-414, to the meeting of Finale and Namkcab. The horror lost interest in directly attacking the duo, and so he concocted a quick plan. He slipped into an adjacent building and quietly slew a poor navi. He went back outside and, with his claws, etched a message in the wall. He then positioned his victim in such a way that when he threw him, the victim's arm pointed towards the message: CaTcH mE iF yOu CaN
The beast then slunk away from the group to track down K-414, his next planned victim. He moved in and out of alleyways, searching for the wolf. Weaving in and out, the beast kept a good pace away from the wolf, keeping him in sight, but staying concealed in the shadows.((OOC: Hey guys, be sure to vote in the poll at the top.))
(no, namkcab, we shouldn't go hunt down the assassin together we should stay as far apart as possible and let it kill us individually.)
Finale crosses his arms and leans against the air. He greeted his best friend a little coldly, but he knew the ice navi could handle it.
Finale: End sarcasm. Now, how's it been man! I haven't seen you in well... Let's see, 2+2 then... carry the four, take off the jail time and... oh wait what about that time at the sharONB uhh... 5, 6.... I haven't seen you in like, 8 months! Let's go hunt us some assassin!
K-414 bounded through the shadows, having said his peace to the one known as Finale. He skidded to a halt as he passed into an open area, clambering on all fours as he looked around. The wolf-navi couldn't pick up any unusual scents, not one belonging to a virus, anyway. There were some common ones, but nothing that was out there..nothing that could cause devastation at the rate that it was, anyway.
The wolf-navi let out a hiss, slamming a fist into the concrete-like data again, his anger already on the rise as he tried to figure out just what was going on. "I'm really beginning to think that this has absolutely nothing to do with a virus," the wolf-navi spoke aloud to his NetOP, who released something of a sigh, which K-414 knew to take as agreement. "The attacks are too coordinated and leave behind too little evidence to be a virus. You think the AS knew that?"
"It's possible. Though come on, if they got recognition for having had a hand in deleting this killer, you know their public image will go right up. In fact..." There was a sound of what sounded like keystrokes on the opposite end, and K-414's brow furrowed.
"What the hell are you doing?" K-414 growled, upset that the conversation had been cut short without any real reason why.
There was a few more keystrokes, then the voice of Richard returned. "Sorry. I was buying more stocks in the Animus Syndicate."
The wolfnavi gave a low growl if irritation. "I'll take that as an indirect belief of your faith in my ability," the wolf growled before he leapt upward, bounding off the buildings before reaching the rooftops, the eyes scanning every part of the city below him. He would not fail.
((OOC: Wow....overwhelming majority for Assassin's secrecy. XD)) [bgcolor=black]Namkcab smiled at his friend's antics. However, his expression went from light to heavy-as-two-lead-bricks when he saw the dead navi. The behemoth studied it- gash marks across the chest, pointed arm. What in the world? Namkcab took another look. The arm. He followed the direction of the arm to the wall; the message was clear- the killer knew they were on to him, and they could waste no time. Namkcab assessed the situation with Finale when they heard a short, sharp Ep! that lasted no longer than one-third a second. It was all Namkcab needed. He motioned Finale to follow, shot forth from his arm an ice surfboard for Finale to ride on, and blasted forward an ice path in the air to "surf" on towards the scream.
The assassin kept his eyes on K-414 when a more promising specimen strode in the streets farther down, back towards his previous path. He rode the shadows down to where the victim was. Grabbing him from the shadows, the assassin yanked him down to the ground and slew him; however, when he yanked him, the victim instictively let loose a very short scream. The monster swore under his breath as he sprinted away, farther into the heart of the city. How could he let a victim utter a sound? Once a safe distance away, he started his spree again, killing just as he did before the last victim. Silently. For his pleasure, he left trails from victim to victim for the pursuers.
