The sun is shining, the sky is blue, and the gentle wind rustles the leaves of the trees. It's spring, and the flowers are in breathtaking bloom, blanketing the area in a sheet of multi-colored beauty; a perfect recreation of the majesty of the real world, a peaceful and tranquil place for all who visit...
Real shame Nightshade and Edge are going to Kotobuki instead.
Touching down, the powerful radiation of this Chernobyl of the digital world causes Edge to get woozy, walking sideways for a moment before shaking his head as hard as he can and re-gathering himself. Even Nightshade, despite his acclimation to bugs, would find the very nature of Kotobuki nauseating, even more so than normal for some reason. However, he wouldn't have time to react, as Edge steps to his traveling companion and looks to him with a serious and silent "shush". He then takes a step back and looks to the sky, yelling out to... apparently noone.
Edge: I know you're here, and I know you're watching. This is a side story, and we're not involved in your stuff. No sudden boss battles, no twists; side story. We just need to talk with the good doctor and we'll be out of here. Got it?

In the wake of the great proclamation, as if daring for something to happen by saying it didn't need to happen at all, the radioactive wasteland would have three things there that were out of place for them. Three of the most terrifying things of all that could ever be presented to them. The great plot twist of them all was that what awaited them was...A random rock. A random gate. A random bass.

Edge holds up his arm to hold Nightshade back, keeping an eye on the sky and the area around him even as the three objects appear. He waits several moments before finally lowering his hand and stepping forward cautiously, looking out with care as he approaches the three objects. He looks on for a few seconds before a smirk plays across his face and his eyes slide upwards.
Edge: Okay, I'm glad that at least someone on your team has a sense of humor.
Edge then reaches down and picks up the rock, tossing it in the air a few times and catching it before looking upwards again.
Edge: I'm taking this one with me, for the record. It's up to you to figure out if it's foreshadowing or not.
Edge stuffs the rock into the... pocket of his armor...? ...and steps away from the other objects. He then forms a white energy-sawblade on the back of his hand and swiftly brings it down, tearing a rift in the glitched fabric of reality before turning back to Nightshade and graciously waving his hand towards the rift in a welcoming gesture.
Edge: Ladies first.
