Burai scoffs as the rock is erected from the swamp, his force sending shrapnel flying. Cursing, Burai took a few steps back, as his own defense rose to once again make the force of the fires useless, but could do nothing as the lake caught in flames.
Annoyed, Burai reached out his hand and focused, as Laplace appeared from its home, forming from pixels into its blade form. The power that flowed through it now was ineffective to him; he needed a different force to combat the Murian Servant. While not necessary, it would make at least a few things easier. He figured using his brute force and more carefully attacking would be enough to bypass its defenses, but, he would rather be done with this sooner rather than later. Feint didn't appear as though she were doing too well, and he had a promise to make sure she made it back to her boss at least alive.
Burai placed his hand along the blade's edge and willed the change into being, as the chains that usually surrounded the blade's edge receded in favor of a rolling whirlwind to surround the blade's edge. The murian god of wind was a dangerous foe to combat with, and now that Burai had his power, at least he would be able to turn the tide against the Murian Servant before the waters rose too high.
Burai expends 3 skill uses from [Precursor to Ruin] to maintain panel immunity. 12 uses remaining.
[Fire Breath] Negated via Mu Rejection. "If Hits" effects that do not negatively affect Burai still trigger on attack negation.
[Laplace] Burai summons forth his most powerful weapon, and his only accepted ally: Laplace, a sentient blade, and an ancient artifact of the Murian people. The Laplace Blade has the ability to absorb the energy of the EM Beings created by Mu, as well as many other murian artifacts, making Laplace his most powerful tool. - Burai gains access to his attacks that specify Laplace’s use. Grants the skills Blade Fury, Wave Arc, and Divine Edge. Burai gains the Divine Blade Element. - While active, Burai can redistribute charges among any attacks with fewer than 3 required charges, as well as any free uses granted by attacks, but can still only apply 1 charge to an attack per turn. Any attacks charged take up 2 actions to charge on their first turn.
[Divine Edge] The Laplace Blade has absorbed the power of the Murian Divinities, as shown by the glowing motes of energy along its blade. At a moment’s notice, Burai can change the affinity the Laplace Blade is attuned to, allowing him access to new abilities and the divine elements. - After responding to all attacks aimed against him in a turn, Burai can sacrifice all remaining attack slots to change the Divine Element Laplace is attuned to.

#s://cdn~discordapp~com/attachments/340189121500938240/738826462311874650/Plesio~png The lake, as Burai had claimed, now looked drastically different from when it started. The waters continue to rise, swallowing more of the surrounding plains and now threatening even the very bottoms of the mountains, and the swirling leaves did their best to support the surrounding environs, but only so much could be done with the searing motes of lava thrown into the bunch.
Plesio Surf dipped beneath the waves as it was confronted with Feint's first bullet shot, the strengthened waters giving him freedom to move as he swamp through the leaves and the lava without harm, rising up - uncaring of her second bullet strike - to deliver another devastating bite against her.
What she would find is that this bite was a lot more deadly, now that she was beneath the waters with him. As he closed his mouth around her lower body, he bit down, hard, an intense pressure closing in on her on all sides. Rising up, he flung her body around in the air before tossing her aside, leaving her to once again plummet beneath the waters.
Meanwhile, its next planned assault was ready, as it surged up its power and breathed a toxic, marshy waste out of its maw, polluted the waters that it called its home, but not worrying as the waters mixed and churned, rather than being replaced.

When using its auto attacks against targets with 0 Attack Slots, the attacks cannot be avoided, and attack at full damage.
[Rising Tide] The Murian Servant's Command Wave enables it a certain mastery over its environment, each moment the cresting tide becoming more dangerous. - Instead of increasing any of its base stats via Rising Giant, Plesio Surf can increase the same number of numerical values of Ocean Panels by their base value. - Instead of adding uses to skill, Plesio Surf can force all enemies to expend an additional panel immunity effect to remain immune to Ocean Panels for the turn. Opponents with passive Panel Immunity must expend a skill use or be grounded for the turn.
[Environmental Merger] With the power of its unique Wave, Plesio Surf can forcibly merge terrains together, creating unique fields for combat to take place on, all the while swimming as effortlessly as a fish in the sea. - Any Panel merged with Ocean Panels can be modified as Ocean Panels. All Enemy navis suffer from the negative effects of any panels set, and only gain positive benefits of the stage if they have panel immunity. Any B-Tier Status Effect associated with the current Element of the stage is afflicted unavoidably, so long as the stage is active.
[Rising Giant] - Increases Aqua Unavoidable Damage by +100, Fire Unavoidable Damage by +100, required dodges by +1, and attack slot reduction by +1. - Opponents must expend 2 total Panel Immunity Effects, or expend any 3 skill uses to maintain passive immunity this turn.

She was a bit too weighed-down to stop the bite from coming, so found her waist caught between the teeth of the creature without much say in the matter. Fortunately for her, she was pretty lithe, so her body could be squeezed between the gaps of its teeth a little more safely while her suit handled the rest of the pressure.
" ! "
Being tossed into the air was a unique experience, that was certain. It was like viewing it on a screen from a recording: images of the scenery uncontrollably shifting past her eyes as her heading was out of her control, but also losing the sensation of gravity completely as her body just took to free-falling like a ragdoll, completely unable to determine when the ascent ended and the descent began until it was abruptly interrupted by the collision of the water. It felt more like she was watching a first-person video of it rather than actually experiencing it, but her bearing returned now that she was submerged in the lake.
Coming up to breathe, she did as she said would do and continued to float there now, treading water but having to fight against the non-buoyancy of her suit and her gun all the while. Her hair fell in the way of her vision again, which seemed to be becoming a recurring issue of hers that she'd probably need to consider in the future, but for now, she was having about as much success with this thing as a shrimp would to a shark, so having to find the time to wipe it out of her eyes between the strokes of her hands was the least that she could complain about.
" I've still got this under control. "
Burai's judgemental eyes weren't ones she'd look forward to seeing if he thought she was falling short again. She wasn't even being light-hearted either; she was still determined enough that she could fight back at it, just would take a bit of extra time with this one than average.

Burai maneuvered himself around as Feint was once again targeted. Thankfully for her, he was too focused on his next move to cast his judging stare upon her. He knew, from what he had observed thus far, that Feint was a capable and stubborn combatant - if she was struggling, it was with due reason. In truth, he was annoyed by how little he knew of the Murian Servant, and knew that he could handle this easily on his own. Having to make sure Feint got out alive was a burden, but, also a blessing - it pushed him to use his power to make sure this ended quickly.
The power of Typhoeusun Gale was a dangerous force to command, the Murian god of winds utilizing the power of the environment to wreak havoc upon the world he subjugated. For Burai's needs, he allowed himself to be surrounded in a veil of volcanic winds, a searing, blistering heat welling up around him as the black veil of ash and sparks of burning brimstone surrounded him. Rising into the air, Burai lifted himself well above the rising tide, raised his free hand into the air, and brought it crashing down, as though he were throwing down a curtain.
In response, a powerful gust of wind crashed down from on high, separating the waters. Raising his hand and twisting the winds to his whims, the waters of Plesio Surf's environmental command were pushed back, forced to surge around the Murian Servant and lift him up a little higher on his own plateau. At the same time, the waters around Feint surged past her, as a familiar, warming presence washed over her, and she found herself standing in a field of holy energy as the waters passed her by. Looking below her, she would see that the force of Burai's winds had churned up the entire lake, forcing it all forward, large walls of winds erected to keep it from crashing back down on top of them, and left her standing on a field of holy energy over otherwise empty dip in the earth, revealing the massive temple that comprised the Murian Ruins beneath the waves.
As a last show of his force, Burai swiped his hand, and the volcanic ash picked up and turned into a chilling winter wind, freezing the lake that the Murian Servant had created.
"I'm glad one of us has something under control," was Burai's only response - a hint of a glimmer in his eyes as he washed them in her direction. Was that sarcasm? Somehow, it didn't fit him. Burai turned his attention back to the Murian Servant, raising up his hands to control more of the wind as it was summoned to him. A powerful gale force surged past Feint, beckoned by his moving arms, as the flames, toxic waste, and leftover drops of water were picked up off of her - the blistering winds not harmful to her in the slightest; in fact, they were almost soothing after the chilling winds - and carried with them to reside in Burai's hands. Thrusting the wind forward, he blasted the concentrated essence at the Murian Servant, picking up bits and pieces of the corroded waters to spiral alongside the volcanic ash as it flew. Raising his hand in preparation for what was to come, a circling malevolence appeared overhead, as Burai channeled the power of the storm breaker, the swirling tide of lake water and the leaves that Plesio Surf had mixed in with them rising up to empower it, the form of a hurricane preparing in his wake.
Meanwhile, the isolation zone that surges around Burai intensifies, into a different light than what Feint had ever felt before. The distance between them seemed to expand, as though Burai had entirely removed himself from any other influence. He seemed and felt truly alone, holding the power of the skies in his hands, and something foreboding told her that he was preparing for something truly terrible.

[Divine Wind] A power possessed by only one being at a time, this preeminent and absolute power over wind grants the user absolute control over the atmosphere, be it the air they glide through or the ground they walk upon. A tempestuous gale force at their disposal, the very skies part at their whims, and worlds break beneath their storms.

[Split Horizon] - You may set a different set of panels down for different entities, treating all effects reliant on panel type as though they were your panel types or the target's, upon use. Only entities with Panel Master can have immunity to panels that you augment or put into place. [Atmospheric Shift] - Set three panel types of your choice, combining them with existing panels or setting them individually as desired. Instead of setting any given panel type, you can lock one into place. 2-CD between uses.

An attack charged this way cannot obtain charges from other sources. #s://media~discordapp~net/attachments/340189121500938240/738826644906835968/PlesioDX~png The sudden surge of wind caught Plesio Surf by surprise - surely a power like none other, Typhoeousun Gale's incredible wind boundary swept up the Murian Servant's rising tide and sequestered it into a wall of wind and storm. The surging winds gave no relent as the Murian Servant pressed its own power to warp the environment around it, its tide rising higher, but not for a moment crashing over the wind wall that it had been imprisoned behind.
To add insult to injury, the waters that it called its home were ripped out from its pool, leaving it floating in a lake of toxic sludge and boiling lava. After Burai went as far as to freeze the waters underneath it, not even Plesio Surf could claim protection from the elements, the pure power poured out from the change in the weather causing searing burns from both acid and fire, only intensified by the blistering winds carrying the burdens of others.
It kind of looked sad, uselessly flailing its flippers atop its now frozen home. Roaring in frustration, in a tide of power, the Murian Servant surged forth the depth of its oceanic presence, and seemingly produced a wave of water out of thin air to crash forward. The sound of ice cracking and giving way as the torrent of water surged from it was all that could be heard, like a massive explosion, as the tide rushed forward, an intense sheen of gold telling Feint that something else had occurred as it rushed on.
Plesio Surf transformed into a golden trim, a form she would recognize from her time with the Condor Geograph.
Feint, having been given seeming divine ordinance from Burai, was safe from the brunt coming tide, but, from his space in the air, it would look as though the surging wave of water would drown him. The torrential wave that carried Plesio Surf forward was only made worse by the crashing wave of elements that poured out of Plesio Surf's maw, raging wave after raging wave of liquid elemental power.

Feint took to her new footing quite happily; she certainly wasn't a naval combatant. She wasn't sure at first how to take Burai's remark, but did use her granted reprieve to wring out her thrashed hair.
" It's not a contest or anything. "
More salt in her mumbling voice than in the ocean's water. Then again, this was a lake, so perhaps that wasn't really saying much. All said: she was still keeping score and not pleased at the 0 for 3 points they stood at -- furrowing her eyes when she realized she had already accepted that this 3rd point was his before the fight was fully finished.
But then the creature turned gold just as the Condor from before had, and her eyes widened in a mixture of emotions. Her heart rate accelerated as her body remembered the last time it had experienced this: the excessive overcharge in her suit that she was unable to bear before.
It wasn't easy to pinpoint the feeling: excitement, fear, anxiety, confidence -- among it all, there was the feeling of readiness. She was a quick learner, and after facing a failure, she sought to repeat it just so that she could learn to handle it better. That had its own drawbacks, but the thrill of pushing oneself beyond limitation was rivaled by nothing else.
" ... "
She knew what to expect this time when the surge came: her reaction would be quicker. The tidal wave towered overhead and blotted the sun from her surroundings, further reminding her of the encounter against the Condor when its smaller birds did the same. Her gun was already pointed forward with finger on the trigger, ready for discharge the instant she was struck.
The thrill hit its peak as the attack approached, when suddenly...
" ! "
... she realized now what that aura coming from Burai had done now: that "aura of isolation", or "Isolation Zone", literally taking tangible effect over her and in fact isolating her from the battle temporarily.
She didn't get much time to voice her opinion on that as the tsunami disregarded her entirely and met with Burai instead.
The ball was in his court, then. Sizing up the attack itself, she at least theorized how she would have handled it in the event she was ever faced with it again. Even secondhand knowledge was useful, sometimes.

The Murian Servant's frustration was understandable; he remembered dealing with this when he first fought the monstrosity who wielded it. There were only three other Murian dieties quite as daunting for him, personally, and he had fought almost all of them in search for the Murian Code.
Of course, none of them had it. What did he have to show for it? A lot of nerve, and the willingness to do what he must to accomplish his goal. Taking a deep breath, Burai watched as the whirlwind of elements and the crashing tsunami that came with them surged towards him.
He had survived a worse calamity.
Holding up the Laplace edge, he funneled his isolation into a physical force, his signature defense raising up before him. Blast after elemental blast crashed against the defense, with each blow causing it to shatter into pieces, like glass, and he then reconstructed it. Seeming by pure force of will, the defense was rebuilt in an instant as the next round came smashing against it, until all that was left was the tidal wave.
To Feint's amazement, his defense didn't reconstruct itself to protect against the Tidal Wave. Burai was forced to use another method, as he turned himself intangible, and stood his ground as the wave crashed right through him, and passed him by.
Burai breathed out a hefty breath, sweating, but glared through the pain to find Plesio Surf just behind him, also winded, but very much astonished to find him still standing. Turning on his heel, Burai raised his hand again, as the eye of the storm above him surged, and a crashing, volcanic maelstrom of power suddenly let loose. A massive hurricane ripped open the air, a convalescence of ash, wind, water, ice, and roiling electricity, darkening the sky for almost a mile with the force of its winds.
With complete mastery over the force, Burai funneled it directly at Plesio Surf, sending the massive storm to surge right through the beast.
Burai expends 6 skill uses from [Precursor to Ruin] to maintain panel immunity. 1 uses remaining.
[Ruination] The power of his isolation empowers him against the calamity that rushes against him. The sole survivor, The Last Murian stands testament that any force can be overcome through reliance on one's inner strength. - On the turn after the use of Precursor to Ruin, if Burai and a single other entity are the only remaining combatants, Burai's Mu Rejection Barrier also freely negates any attack that could have targeted multiple entities. All Avoidances avoid an additional attack per entity that it could have targeted aside from Burai. - Burai's attack slots are reduced by the number of times his Mu Rejection Barrier does not freely activate this turn. Burai applies 1 Charge to 1 attack, regardless of all effects, per attack that his Mu Rejection Barrier could not negate. Attacks that finish charging this turn can be used immediately, except for Burai Break.
[Thunder Breath] - Negated via Mu Rejection Barrier. [Leaf Breath] - Negated via Mu Rejection Barrier. [Fire Breath] - Negated via Ruination. [Toxic Breath] - Negated via Ruination. [Thunder Breath] - 4 Negated via Mu Rejection Barrier. [Leaf Breath] - 4 Negated via Mu Rejection Barrier. [Fire Breath] - Negated via Ruination. [Toxic Breath] - Negated via Ruination. [Thunder Breath] - 8 Negated via Mu Rejection Barrier. [Leaf Breath] - 8 Negated via Mu Rejection Barrier. [Fire Breath] - Negated via Ruination. [Toxic Breath] - Negated via Ruination. [Torrent Wave] - Burai sacrifices 3 Attack Slots to Fully Avoid.
1 Charge applied to Typhoesun's Eruption via Ruination.
[Turbulent Dominion] Yours is the power of the weather, the very heavens breaking at your call. Your storms crash with more intensity than any other, and no one can hope to withstand them. -- You are immune to the grounded condition. Your elemental weaknesses are negated, and your elemental strengths are twice as strong. -- Divine Wind Element Attacks gain the element of the current panels in addition to all other elements, stacking elements if applicable. Divine Wind Element Attacks gain 5% of your Base Damage per Element beyond the first they possess, per hit. Elemental Weaknesses to your attacks stack per element an enemy is weak to. Your attacks ignore elemental strengths. Unavoidable Attacks that originally deal 0 Damage can be augmented by these effects.
1. [Typhoesun's Eruption] The penultimate attack of Typhoesun Gale, Burai bends the winds to his whims as he creates a massive hurricane of ash and smoke to combine with the elements he commands. -- 610 Damage, 6 Hits, Avoided Separately -- Divine Wind, Wood, Aqua, Aqua, Wood, Fire, Toxic -- Unavoidable, Hits All -- Triggered Conditions of this attack occur per hit. -- Gains a B-Tier Status Effect appropriate for its elements. -- If Hits: Soak, Soak, Burn, Poison -- If Hits: -4 Attack Slots, 500 Unavoidable Aqua Damage
As the whirlwind of fury befell the Murian Servant, the force of it seemed to much for it to bear. The hurricane bellowed and surged, picking up the large Servant and nearly ripping it to pieces within its maelstrom. As before, Burai dove into the ensuing chaos to absorb its energy before it could fully dissipate, once again finding it a pure, undefiled creation.
He sighed at the revelation, now holding the power of three of the four Murian Heralds. Releasing Laplace from his grip, he sent the UMA down to retrieve the third of five artifacts he chased after, into the depths of the ruins that Feint could now see very clearly due to Burai's shifting of the environment. Using what remained of his connection to Typhoesun's power, he shifted the wind walls back to carefully move the lake back into place; without Plesio Surf to maintain it, the wave energy it emitted to create the change in the environment slowly reverted the lake back to its normal size and configuration.
The real question was, of course, what secrets did this encounter hide? Burai gazed around as the environment calmed down from their fight, uncertain of what he would find.

#s://i.imgur.com/8w4a7DV.png Cherish held fast as the storm picked up -- Burai seemed to be putting on a much greater show of force this time than before, going to show that this enemy was a bit more deadly than the last two (something she had already noticed herself, at least). She raised an eyebrow at seeing his barrier fall short, though. This was certainly the strongest guardian yet. And yet like the rest, it was brought down all the same.
She exhaled as she holstered her weapon and observed the scene from her divine platform.
" Think those predecessors of ours gave that one an extra helping. "
Laplace was sent down to acquire the next relic, and the chaotic atmosphere of the lake and the water began to die down finally. She could tell Burai was already searching for evidence, so there wasn't much more for her to do here than wait for them to finish.
" I imagine they had a hell of a time with it themselves. "
Burai implied earlier that they had fought these beasts just out of sport, by the signs he was able to gather from the aftermath of the Yeti fight. Even for a navi, the strength that this one demanded was pretty intense. And there were still two more to go.
She was still able to keep up with their blows, which she was a bit more proud to admit for this one than the others, but her own shots were proving to be less and less effective with each encounter. While Burai always had the secret sauce on deck, that wasn't a sufficient solution for her going forward. She'd need to contribute to the fights too; if a mysterious enemy was powerful enough to defeat these beings for sport, then her security demanded that she'd need to be able to defeat them as well, lest that enemy ever find her alone some day.

With Plesio Surf now defeated and the group free to move on, Burai would begin to feel something. A presence that resonates with his own in perfect harmony had been off on the horizon, but now he'd know that this presence has taken note of him as well. It does not seem to move or respond, but it is now watching from across the vast distance.

#s://cdn~discordapp~com/attachments/340189121500938240/728347473344725113/113~png Burai surveyed the environment a second longer, before he finally saw the remnants of what was.
It might have served as a startling opening, as the scene that played out happened in the span of an instant. What was once a vibrant land was a wasteland of grass and ash in that very same instant along with the lake. All life extinguished by an oppressive force. They did what needed doing as always, but they decided to discuss before they left.
"Curious. Why destroy all of it?"
"Orders. Besides, I'm already well acquainted with them thanks to the previous runs. I can just do this now."
In the same time that it took to reduce everything away, it was all returned no less than it was before. Unlike the times before, this time there were no flaws. Be it in the trees and grass, the waters... or the servant itself that was used to guard the place. This time sound was able to be distinguished, a male and a female voice being the ones to have the discussion that took place. From here it became more of a blur, but it was clear that they would return as they had the other times before. They must have run similar tests, but it seemed as though what they had done before had become even more potent than before. Even more curiously, it looked like some of the place was destroyed again and recreated, but with a different method than whatever had recreated it the first time. Still, the servant was still the tried and true one after returning after years had passed. Why did they let it return of its own nature after what was unveiled?
Feint's words hung like a harsh reminder in the air for a moment, before Burai shook his head. "They didn't even give it the honor of a proper fight. They just eradicated it, and all of the surroundings," he said, his voice eerily calm, looking out at the environment that the Murian Servant had done a good job of nearly destroying again. ". . . but they accomplished what I thought was impossible. They perfected their craft and recreated Murian technology perfectly, even recreating live," he explained, motioning to reference the trees and the animals. "But then they destroyed the servant again, and left it be to recreate itself. Why? What do they gain from their experiments? Why work so hard to recreate the Murian technology, just to let it run its natural course again?" he shook his head, unable to fathom his own words, even as he had seen the devastation with his own eyes.
"To be able to perfectly recreate Plesio Surf like that, they would've needed to awaken The Great Being to learn the depths of the Murian's secrets directly from the source." He turned to look at Feint, floating over to her on the platform as the last of Typhoesun's Power faded away, and Laplace returned carrying some sort of strange star. The energy was absorbed as it was before, the star disappearing within the strange being, and Laplace retreated thereafter.
"Where we're going next, you will need to follow my every word. We will move directly into the temple, rather than waiting to find it like the last two attempts. Mark my words, if you attempt to leave the temple, it will kill you."
His words were stern and sure, his gaze intense, even as the Kamikakushi appeared to create yet another portal for them to use.
"I have a particular distaste for the Murian Tactician, and will ensure that this fight does not last long at all. I will need but a few moments to prepare for his destruction, but, until then, you are not to let him tempt you out of the temple for any reason."
It was here that the strange presence was felt - as though some great, unknown power had suddenly set its eyes on Burai. He looked up and around, trying to pinpoint where it was at, but its power was something Burai could feel even from here. Why did it feel as though its loneliness reached a depth like his own? What force could resonate with his power such as this?
He looked around a moment longer, before he shook his head clear. He had no way of knowing where that power was, or what it meant, but, he didn't care. He needed to focus on the task at hand. He was more than capable of handling himself; if the power now had its sights on him, then, he would let it come to him, and see what fruits it would bear.

#s://i~imgur~com/U4Xclbh~png Feint was oblivious to the presence on the horizon, but didn't feel any better knowing the lengths that their mysterious adversary had reached. Creating life was a power of a god, and she was still just a human stepping up to that. She'd be at its mercy no matter how strong she became, she felt.
" Murian tech really is no joke. "
She was beginning to see why Burai placed himself above humans, then. They were far more advanced even millennia ago, so far that humanity still hadn't caught up, barring the ones that had been experimenting with the guardians. Who knows how much farther along they'd be if they were still around.
Burai went on to brief her on their next encounter as the portal opened once again.
" There isn't much that can tempt me. "
She considered herself above having common human desires: material or physical ones primarily, but even psychological ones like promises of great power would need to fit a certain shape to invoke her. Everyone had their deep dark desires though, but so long as she stuck to Solo's warning and stayed within the temple, she'd be fine. It seemed easy enough to abide by.
She stepped into the portal and very slowly sank, still not gone quite yet though. She had also noticed Burai had not stepped in yet himself, but figured he wouldn't be far behind given how eager he was to keep moving.

#s://cdn~discordapp~com/attachments/340189121500938240/728347473344725113/113~png Burai listened to Feint's comments on the power of Murian technology, and noticed that she was still uncertain of the depths of how far all of this went. He would have never guessed that he would have been caught up in such endeavors upon crossing over.
For now, though, he had one last Herald to absorb, and then two more artifacts thereafter. The trip to the fourth herald's temple would also allow him to set up his encounter with the specific being that he wished to destroy. The number of beings he desired to destroy, however, was much higher, now that he saw the depth of this scenario.
He wondered . . . no. It was not worth the indignity. He waited for Feint to disappear within the portal before following after her, personally not looking forward to what was to come.
With any luck, Feint would be right, and he wouldn't be carting her off to her doom.
