::Donburā Lake::
In the northern reaches of Netopia, the Donburā Lake is a massive stretch of freshwater that is dipped deep into the mountainous regions, carving large underwater caverns and creating strong rivers that flow throughout Netopia. This natural wonder has beautiful, lush wildlife living within its depths, and is surrounded by a beautiful grassy plain that benefits from its nutrient-rich waters. It possesses the second widest watery surface in all of Netopia, and the deeper waters than those found in the rivers and lakes of the surrounding countries combined.
Despite the beauty of the surrounding environs, and the expansiveness of its depths, the Donburā Lake has exceptionally low visibility, the water dark and unyielding with its secrets.
The lake, usually placid and calm, has over recent years been whipped up into a tumultuous season, with chopping waves and dangerous currents radiating from its center, and has only been increasing in size as the waters rise and consume nearby land - getting uncomfortably close to nearby villages without any explanation for the continuously rising waters.

Holding out his hand, he willed what little power he had in comparison to Le Mu's in order to force a large platform into existence beneath him, forcing the waves in the area to converge and solidify as he landed on it.
Feint, if she were smart enough to channel her own Net abilities as she fell out of the sky, would also be able to land on the platform, although she wouldn't be able to see it. If not, she would fall into the waters, below.
Burai fixed his stern, cold stare on the depths, seeing the active wave life beneath the churning waters, and considered a certain power that would make this whole endeavor over very quickly.
He unfortunately had too much respect, and desired more of a confrontation than that. He would handle the Murian Servant the correct way. However, he did know how to get its attention. He'd wait to see how Feint was faring given the situation to move forward.

#s://i~imgur~com/U4Xclbh~png Falling out of the portal, she could feel the difference in the atmosphere to know that they were already in the "wave space" that triggered her suit's cyber world protocols -- seeing Burai in his own Wave Form below her was further confirmation. Her decent came to an abrupt halt as she seemed to land on an invisible platform, but she didn't seem off balance at all by it and caught her footing immediately.
She looked around for a moment to survey the place, piecing together her previous encounters of culture and folklore to determine what she'd likely be meeting up with next.
" Loch Ness Monster this time, I'm assuming. "
Nothing else really came to mind when thinking about a lake, after all.
" One quick question, short and sweet: do the Navis from your timeline stack up against these things? "
She was assuming they couldn't just waltz into the real world, but the Crimson she had seen twice now, after having seen it once before during her brief encounter with Joker, seemed to imply otherwise.
He'd likely be upset at the hint of a distraction, but it wasn't a conversation opener so much as it was a necessary piece of information she was after.

#s://cdn~discordapp~com/attachments/340189121500938240/728347473344725113/113~png Burai nodded in response to Feint's question, watching as she took in her surroundings and came to the next conclusion. "As you noted from Whazzap, the heralds of Mu typically take on frequencies that humans can see - they are used to being worshipped by them. Once the Murians fell, they were sequestered to their temples, and whenever they emerged, humans would see their forms and create myths around them. 'Cryptozoology'," he explained, shaking his head in disgust at the thought. It seemed when it came to talking about the lore of his people, he was a lot more talkative than normal.
Her next question was an interesting one, and Burai had a short and sweet answer to provide for it. "From my timeline, the world has advanced so far that Navis have become obsolete. The people discovered how to do what the Murians were capable of twelve thousand years before - creating sentient, solid wave matter. Beings like Laplace accompany people everywhere they go instead of Navis, floating alongside them in the real world just as easily as you and I. None of them are quite as strong, or pure, as Laplace, due to the fact that they are all man-made.
"Most of them, anyways." He said this last bit with a bit of bitterness to his voice, still looking out over the waters, at the wave world beneath its surface, as he considered his options.
"Can you swim? Without a Wave Body to attune with, your physical flesh seems to just manifest the code of its Cyber body from data memory within the wave world around it; whereas I am mostly wave energy, you are still entirely flesh and bone beneath the code. If we attempt to fight the Murian Servant head-on, even I won't be able to stay above the waters forever."

#s://i~imgur~com/8w4a7DV~png She looked upset at his answer. Really, she was a bit upset with herself.
" ... "
The Crimson was miles from her mind now; it really wasn't why she had even asked her question in the first place.
No, it was the obsoletion of Navis that bothered her, because it meant that even without them, there was...
" ... still conflict, huh. "
She'd always blamed Net Navis for the world's troubles. But in Burai's world, there were none to blame but the Humans and the EM Beings -- only one of those being a common denominator of both their timelines.
The more extreme followers of NIA preached that Navis should be reduced to as little as "Basic AI" to rid humanity of their plague; a camp that Cherish herself wasn't far displaced from. But in another universe where that was already the case, humanity was no less plagued by its own creations.
The war she fought was meaningless; her efforts completely in vain.
" ... "
She stood there silently for a moment, even after Burai had finished talking. Like a sledgehammer to stained glass, the picture she painted of a perfect world was shattered by harsh reality: she was the tool of her own destruction. She was the problem.
She spoke up finally, just before the silent spell was too noticeable.
" I can float. "
Her tone was plain and dry; filled with an apathy that she defaulted to under trial. If one could suggest that her sarcastic quips from before were even a hint of personality, even that was void from her voice. Deeper thoughts threatened to overwhelm her focus now, and she was having a hard time keeping them at bay, but at the very least, she learned well by now how to bury her concerns with a task at hand.
It was her coping method, after all.

#s://cdn~discordapp~com/attachments/340189121500938240/728347473344725113/113~png He heard her answer to his question about floating, but couldn't help but to pull his eyes away from the waters to turn his piercing crimson gaze on her, those eyes that always seemed so see farther than flesh and code, as he heard her barely audible whisper of a response to his answer to her question.
Those eyes studied her again, as if looking at her for the first time, and he saw in her something that he saw in someone else, yet, it was somewhat different. It wasn't exactly as headstrong as his, less fool hearty and naive. Hers had more realism to it.
How, then, did his ideals seem to always win anyway?
"When I first arrived in your world," he began, an answer to a question she never poised, as he directed his attention back at the waters, studying them, "the one that I was brought forward by, the cat-like being, Nightshade, informed me as though it were some sort of daunting, unwelcome truth that deletion would mean certain death.
"Where I come from, that is a reality we face every day we take on our wave form and clash with others. We are flesh and bone wrapped in a protective shell of wave data, protected by the energy that solidifies our form and the change in matter state it bestows. Degrading that energy means that, eventually, one of your strokes in combat is going to take the life out of the person you are attacking." He turned his attention back to Feint, here, still sizing up her responses to his words.
"The human condition is to have ideals and beliefs, to take a stand and make gambles and take sides because of it. Of all the differences I speak between the Murians and your breed of human, that is one blot neither of us is immune to. They had it all, and still they would stand up for their ideals and fight for more, and when those ideals started being tested more and more, the individual tribes realized that they all wanted different things . . ." he trailed off here, sighing to turn back to the surface of the water. If he divulged too much, she, too, would know enough of the history to take the path that no one else could be allowed to take. "I'll tell you the same things I told him: Right and Wrong in the world are subjective. One does not fight for any other purpose than to win something over the other. A wolf cares not for the method, only the reason: it understands that it needs the territory and its resources to survive. If what Nightshade said is true, then to fight now just means one thing: You must believe, with all of your heart, that what you fight for is worth it. If you do not have the strength to uphold that conviction, then you have forfeited your ideals, and your right to stand up for them, to the other side's.
"If you fight without ideals, or your ideals are shallow and one-sided, then you ultimately fight for the wanton destruction of lives - you fight because it is an option you possess. That perspective gives your blade - I suppose, in this case, your gun - a little more weight." He stood up, just then, turning his gaze away from her. Somehow, the weight of his loneliness felt even more overbearing.
He had noticed it while he was talking, but, knew his words too important to interrupt. The pull from across the void - something was beckoning towards the energy inside of him, the power of the Lookout and the Soldier that he absorbed, trying to call it elsewhere. He frowned, unable to shake the sensation that this was going even further than he first expected, never considering for a moment that this side would have committed such atrocities.
Never for a moment that they could have.
He turned to look around, as he had also noticed something else. The water, he could understand, as it was the Murian Servant's home; it was supposed to be suffused with wave energy. The surrounding mountains, the grasslands, and even the wildlife floating through the water and grazing the plains, however, should not have had that energy radiating around them. It was different from his side; it wasn't as though they were purely wave form, like the real waves that the humans of his time had accomplished, it was as though they were a facsimile. The energy coiling off of every tree, every blade of grass, even the animals, was like it was some energy trying to convince the world that they were real, despite being mere tricks.
What kind of power was this? What could the aggressors have done to need to flood so much wave data into the environment to remake the environs surrounding the lake? The Murian people were not connected to the land in such a way that this slight offended him like the rest, but, the implications of creating life from wave matter offended him for another reason, however impure it may have been. Tiny idiosyncrasies in how Wave Matter truly functioned made it clear to him.
"I'm going to aggravate the Murian Servant, now. Plesio Surf is going to try to swallow us in its lake. You'd be wise to do your best to stay above the waters."

She listened to what he had to say -- didn't have a choice, really -- but it helped to at least slightly reaffirm her motives. Her original motives were somewhat buried by the ones she had adopted later: to build security for her future. NIA's ordeals seemed to line up perfectly when Navis were painted as the enemy. If they were a threat to her, then it made sense that removing them was removing a threat, but her younger mind didn't delve any further than that.
Psychologically, she was still a bit immature for her age, but the notion did at least come to her that, just as there was a universe where the absence of Navis still endangered her kind, there may also have been one where the presence of them did not. Discovering that her core ideal was not to eliminate them after all felt like she had lost her purpose for a moment there, but really it was just an unwrapping of her deeper desires; the shedding of an unnecessary layer that she clung to for far too long.
" Guess a twelve-thousand year-old fourteen year-old knows a thing or two. "
There was a lot of truth to what he said. There'd be difficult times ahead of her as a result of this revelation, but the struggle was worth it in the end for one's ideals. Fully realizing that would mature over time, as for now, another trial approached.
Visually, she didn't change much after the fact, but the confidence in her voice was back, showing her weapon did indeed have its weight again.
" No time to waste. Do your thing, I'll do mine. "
Nautical combat wasn't necessarily her forte, but her comfort zone was easy to step out of after having done it enough times. Sink or swim was a familiar tone, and like his debriefs of the other guardians, if this was the important part then she'd be fine as long as she kept it in mind.

#s://cdn~discordapp~com/attachments/340189121500938240/738826462311874650/Plesio~png Burai formed a sphere of dark energy in his hand, which he released down into the lake. As it descended, it suddenly erupted, releasing a massive pulse of dark energy beneath the waters.
The results were near-instantaneous. A massive whirlpool formed at the center of the lake, as racing shadows beneath the depths rose, and a monstrous visage came up as the waters rose even more rapidly than they already had been, swallowing more of the surrounding wildlife as the protector of the Donburā Lake Ruins rose to the crest of the whirlpool, glaring at Feint and Burai atop their wave platform.
"The Murian Servant - Plesio Surf."
It stared up from its place in the water at them, gazing closely and carefully between the two of them. Plesio Surf bellowed loudly, a horrible roar from its jaws, as it stared up at them. Without much warning, or even any further confrontation, it pointed its roaring maw at them and, with its bellow, released a stream of lightning at their platform, all the while the waters from below rose faster.
[PlesioSurf HP=8,450/8,450]
Rising Giant Time is the bane of all things. ° Each Supportive Phase, the users Final Damage, Armor, Passive Attack Slots and per-turn passive Regeneration rises by 20% of its base rounded up ° The user also gains +1 use to a Skill of choice each turn, ignoring use limitations.
Elemental Mastery A torrent of possibilities. ° User has +5 Element Levels and gains access to 1 Hidden Element of choice ° Double the effects of 1 Non-Hidden Element the user belongs to ° User’s Elemental Weaknesses are negated
[Elemental Specialty] The Murian Servant's power was never meant to be anything grand, but its unique control of its environment is without question. - Plesio Surf instead doubles the effects of all Non-Hidden Elements it possesses, and does not gain any Hidden Elements from Elemental Mastery.
[Crashing Waves] The Murians mastered their command of the environment, and the Murian Servant specialized in aquatic combat. The rising lake that it calls forth is more tumultuous and far more dangerous than what others may be used to. - The Panels are Set as Ocean Panels. Plesio Surf resets Ocean Panels each time it activates Rising Giant. - All enemy Navis suffer from the negative effects of Ocean Panels, regardless of element. Navis weak to the Aqua Element suffer them twice as much. Aqua Element Navis ignore all modifications to the Ocean Panels created by Plesio Surf, but still suffer from the base effects. - Panel Immunity is required to ignore any effect produced by Ocean Panels; immunity to the individual effects do not suffice. - Ocean Panels unavoidably inflict Soak, alongside all other effects, so long as the Panels are active.
[Rising Tide] The Murian Servant's Command Wave enables it a certain mastery over its environment, each moment the cresting tide becoming more dangerous. - Instead of increasing any of its base stats via Rising Giant, Plesio Surf can increase the same number of numerical values of Ocean Panels by their base value. - Instead of adding uses to skill, Plesio Surf can force all enemies to expend an additional panel immunity effect to remain immune to Ocean Panels for the turn. Opponents with passive Panel Immunity must expend a skill use or be grounded for the turn.
[Environmental Dominance] Attuned to its lake, Plesio Surf strikes quickly and with devastating focus. - Invert all negative effects of Ocean Panels as positive benefits for Plesio Surf. Double all naturally positive effects of Ocean Panels. - Active only on any turn that Plesio Surf did not reset the panels.
[Rising Giant] - Increases Damage and Armor by +20%. - Increases Unavoidable Damage by +100 and Attack Slot Reduction by 1. - Opponents must expend 2 total Panel Immunity Effects, or expend any 1 skill use to maintain passive immunity.
{ Ocean Panels (+)}Ocean Panels Aqua Element ° Enemy Navis have -2 attack slots ° Enemy Navis' first dodge each turn costs 2 uses (instead of 1) ° Enemy Navis take 200 Aqua Element damage/turn ° Double all effects for enemies weak to Aqua Element ° Unavoidably Inflicts and Refreshes Soak each turn. ° Treat as base effects for Aqua Element Navis. ° Duration: Permanently Set. {Soak (+)}For 5 turns, the afflicted Navi's attacks deal 1/4 Damage (final total) and they gain a weakness to the Elec Element. Once ended, a Navi cannot be Soaked for 2 turns.
[Thunder Breath] x5 @ Feint, x5 @ Burai The start of the cycle, the Murian Servant unleashes a powerful stream of electrical energy from its maw. 1,815 Elec S-Damage. - Breaks Shields, Cuts Auras - Can be reused any number of times in the same turn. - If Hits: Paralyze. - If this successfully hits any target suffering from the effects of Ocean Panels, it hits all targets suffering from the effects of Ocean Panels. - Can be optionally charged for 1 turn. If so, ?. Multiple instances can be charged at once. - Traded out for ? Breath after its last use in the turn.
{Paralyze (+)}Afflicted Navi cannot avoid the next 2 attacks aimed at them. If no further attacks hit them before their turn, they have -2 attack slots for 3 turns, instead. Does not stack. Via Elec Lv5, ignores post infliction immunity.

Burai didn't give as many details about this one, so either it was just more straightforward than the others or it just wasn't as vital to prepare her for it. Either way, she'd need to evaluate it herself to find when and where would be the best opportunity to strike.
Sizing up her enemies wasn't her calling card -- she wasn't really the analytical type -- but she could make something work if she was required to. A shot from her gun would do the job for now. Her suit did indeed absorb some of the force that was scattered about the area by its roar, but not enough to fully utilize just yet.
The waters were rising, but she didn't let her concern her too much. Later on it'd certainly be an ordeal, but in the moment, where she stood was still manageable enough.

The arcing bolts of lightning smash against the same defensive measure that Feint has watched time and time again render the other Murian Heralds next to useless. He lit his wave ride-boosters as he dashed off of the wave platform he had created upon falling, dashing just across the surface of the waters to aim a careful few starting punches at Plesio Surf's outer body. He was unsure of the monster's defenses, having never personally fought it, and needed to confirm what it was capable of for himself before he committed to any one attack plan.
"You must remember the Adaptor Wave I told you about with the Condor Geograph - all of the Murian Heralds are equipped with advanced wave technology that the Murians developed. We slayed the Soldier fast enough that his didn't become important. The Murian Servant has the Murian Command Wave - rather than adapting to its environment, it can reshape and conform it to its own needs, granting it an unprecedented control of the area. These waters may look very different if we allow it to remain for too long."

As it pushed forward, the waters rose up around it, until it was just close enough - and it reached out from beneath the surface to try to catch Feint in between its massive jaws, clamping down around her, and threatening to drag her beneath the surface.
CRUNCH
As Burai dashed toward it, the force of his movement across the water left Plesio Surf unable to simply disappear beneath the surface, but the strength of its hide was far stronger than what Burai had bargained for - his fists crashed against its side, but accomplished next to nothing as he smashed against it, the very waters appearing to provide additional protection.
Moving out from underneath Feint, Plesio Surf raised itself above the waters and once again reared its head back, releasing a piercing roar as a new stream of energy flowed from its mouth - instead of lightning, a flurry of green leaves spewed forward, spiraling as a powerful tornado directly from its jaws out at the pair.

CRUNCH
Well alright, then.
In reality, she shouldn't have been caught offguard by that, having seen Burai phase in and out of tangibility several times before, but inside the belly of the beast wasn't the place to be reconsidering recent decisions.
She wasn't in the belly yet, at least. She caught the teeth as the jaw closed around her, but managed not to be dragged off of the platform quite yet. It released her before she had to worry too much, but she certainly learned her lesson again about the way these things treat solid objects.
" ... "
Being drenched in its saliva was less than appealing to her, needless to say. The relentless storm of leaves left her a bit cut up, but worse than that were all of the residual leaves sticking to the liquid that she was soaked in, giving her suit, face, and hair a very unintentional "camouflage" pattern, and a rather sloppy one at that.
" Disgusting. "
Really, she looked like a poorly-impersonated, bushy tree. She was a bit occupied to go brushing the shrubbery off, so it'd have to stick for now. Her suit was getting charged up at least, but all of the commotion didn't give her the chance to fire this time -- much less the leaves covering her eyes and inhibiting her aim.
She was known for her slow starts, but this was a bit dragging even for her.

Burai watched as Feint got dragged down beneath the waves, while the force of his own blows was dampened by the continuously rising rapids. The tornado of leaves caught him off guard, but, his defensive measure was never caught off guard, the signature defense raising up as leaves pelted at him from all sides. Whereas Feint was left covered in leaves, Burai was still dashing along without harm, although, his unique defense did nothing to prevent the leaves from clumping together on the surface of the waves.
Annoyed, Burai gave himself a clear distance between himself and the Murian Servant, before dashing across the surface of the waves at full speed to deliver a devastating punch with all of his force packed behind it. With his speed, it wouldn't be able to dunk beneath the waters, and, with any luck, it wouldn't have enough water mass to dampen this blow. If it was simply a wall requiring brunt force to break through, he could provide.
Burai expends 2 skill uses from [Precursor to Ruin] to maintain panel immunity. 15 uses remaining.
[Leaf Breath] Burai negates all 11 hits using Mu Rejection Barrier. "If Hits" effects that do not negatively affect Burai still trigger on attack negation.

#s://cdn~discordapp~com/attachments/340189121500938240/738826462311874650/Plesio~png As more and more water rose, and Feint became more and more slowed by the sheer density of water trying to drag her down, she felt a sodden, terrible weight begin settling over her, only made more disgusting by the fact that the leaves from the Murian Servant's roar seemed to be melting into the water, turning it into a moss-ridden lake.
As Burai dashed towards the Murian Servant, apparently intent on ending this with one fell stroke, Plesio Surf's eyes glinted knowingly, as a large rock suddenly erupted from the depths in Burai's path. Burai's fist smashed directly into it, shattering it into pieces, sending bits of splintering stone everywhere, but leaving Plesio Surf entirely unharmed.
The waters rose, and so did Plesio Surf with them, as it reared its head back and did what was perhaps the next most terrifying thing it could do - it opened its maw and unleashed a torrent of red, hot, burning lava, not even bothering to aim at Burai and Feint, but instead just directing it straight into now grass-covered lake.
[PlesioSurf HP=8,450/8,450]
[Paleolithic Endurance] Plesio Surf's command over his environment grants him additional speed when he needs, and additional endurance when he requires it, his environment raising up to protect him. - Any source that would bypass Plesio Surf's Natural Avoidances cannot bypass his Mitigation effects. ?
[Plesio Surf has 1,425 base Armor. x1.4. 1,995]
[Old Stones] The Murian Servant commands the environment to erect a stone monument in its defense. - This skill has two variants. -- Sturdy Stone: Spawns a 1,380-HP Intercepting Object for Plesio Surf, which has all of its mitigation effects. -- ? --- 7/8 Uses.
[Murian Fist] - Breaks the Sturdy Old Stone.
[Leaf Breath: Wood Panels set and merged alongside Ocean Panels]
[Dead Weight] A crushing pressure that drags down from all sides, the waters continue to suppress and drag those that would attempt to rise above them beneath the waves. - Opponents can be reduced to 0 Attack Slots by Plesio Surf's AS reduction effects. - Opponents with 0 Attack Slots lose and cannot gain Panel Immunity.
[Environmental Merger] With the power of its unique Wave, Plesio Surf can forcibly merge terrains together, creating unique fields for combat to take place on, all the while swimming as effortlessly as a fish in the sea. - Any Panel merged with Ocean Panels can be modified as Ocean Panels. All Enemy navis suffer from the negative effects of any panels set, and only gain positive benefits of the stage if they have panel immunity. Any B-Tier Status Effect associated with the current Element of the stage is afflicted unavoidably, so long as the stage is active.
[Command Wave] Plesio Surf sets its will of the environment into motion, forcing the world into its own needs, or commanding it to stay in place despite all things. - Locks the panels into place for 2 turns. Alternatively, recreates a previously active set of panels. -- 7/8 uses.
[Rising Giant] - Increases Unavoidable Damage by +100, Attack Slot Reduction by 1, and required Dodges by 1. Increases Fire Element attack damage by x1.5. - Opponents must expend 2 total Panel Immunity Effects, or expend any 3 skill uses to maintain passive immunity this turn.

Feint braced for the wave of fire the swept across the lake's surface by the burning leaves, taking solace in the fact that it at leas licked up the ones covering her own body as well.
" Ngh... "
As usual, the was able to take blow for blow, but all of the water and electricity from earlier had jammed her gun when she went to fire. Shots still came out at least, but they were about as unimpressive as they've always been coming from her, maybe even less-so, really.
As long as she was able to keep going though, she'd get stronger once it hit her enough times, so now was just continuing her familiar slow ramp up as the monster made its rounds on her and Burai.
