-Navi Name: D.S.S.D. Project 01 Astralgazer (Astra)
--Appearance:
Astra is designed after a young child no more than 12 years old, standing at the equivalent of 4'10 for a human. He has white, green eyes and pale skin. Fittingly for a child and for his purpose, he has an air of youthful curiousity to him. His build is also fittingly slim, suggesting that hard combat isn't something he was designed for.
His body is armored, not entirely unlike a normal navi. His grey body suit covers the majority of his body aside from his head, which has an orange visor and leaves the top of his head and hair exposed. Rather than the simpler round aesthetics that navis normally have, his armor is blockier geometric in shape and a more striking white, reminiscent of space suits and to be more easily noticeable when in space. Throughout his armor are black seams that glow with light energy when active. These are a subsystem of his photon energy system and help manage energy throughout his body. They all connect to his backpack.
His backpack, aside from the predominately bright white color scheme, is probably the most distinct looking thing on Astra. They feature two large half circle wings that function as exhausts his Photon Curtain. Separated, they emit what look like wings made of light and they allow him to fly and perform high speed maneuvers. By combining them into a full circle, Astra can create a significantly larger Photon Curtain to act as a Solar Sail, allowing him to fly at full speed under the right conditions, although he gives up almost all maneuverability in exchange.
--Personality:
Curious, optimistic and level-headed, Astra is a natural explorer. He can be a little egotistical, as his interest in exploration seems to stem more from proving himself instead of advancement of humanity. His pride in himself and his organization, however, doesn't distract him from completing his tasks. He also remains polite and cheerful, enjoying himself despite the apparent suspension of his mission from exploring space.
--Background:
Astra was developed by a private scientific organization the Deep Space Survey & Development Organization, one of the few that maintained complete neutrality in the cold-war like atmosphere of the world. While their achievements were fairly modest, their most ambitious experiment was in creating a navi run intergalactic exploration vessel. Humans, of course, couldn't last long in deep space with limited resources, nor could their bodies withstand some of the rigours of high speed travel. For navis however, this was a non-issue. It seemed like the perfect project and the appearance of an alien navi proved that there was indeed intergalactic civilizations.
Unfortunately, several factors struck the project down. First, was the political situation of the world combined with the advance technology involved in the Astralgazer project. Astral's AI was created to be highly advanced and he could basically manage a small space station himself. This was the product of tens of thousands of hours of human data, and the level of autonomous vessel piloting was unseen. As other organizations and government wanted these resources, the DSSD became a target. Rumors spread of the scientific organization being a front for a private military contractor because they maintained a small defense force in event of virus attacks, and eventually they were raided by the NIA. The other circumstance however, is the reason why they were prepared for the raid.
Duo's reappearance and the seemingly imminent threat of world destruction had largely put a halt on the D.S.S.D.'s more public progress. On one hand, there was definitely life in space, and it seemed like a better time than ever to drum up interest in space exploration. On the other, it also invited danger, and in a move of caution, the project was suspended and ready to be transferred out in the event of any danger. Before the NIA arrived, Astra had already left with all the data contained in him, and all physical progress of Project Astralgazer was destroyed, and the scientists had already gone into hiding.
Time had passed and since nobody knew publicly what Astra was or what he looked like, so he decided to reemerge into the public light, one day hopeful that the world could one day set aside its differences and that he could rebuild the DSSD.

Astra's only handheld weapon as he was never specifically designed for combat. The photon fires charged photon particles at the opponent much like the standard Buster, however aside from being a handheld variation, it seems to emphasize a higher rate of fire instead general power and range. Despite this, with good aim, it remains more than capable of heavily damaging opponents.

Astra captures photons within the atmosphere or generates them using a internal laser, creating and deploying a set of rings of light that revolve around him. Astra is capable of controlling them in a near proximity to him, mentally commanding them like large beam chakrams to slice at the opponent(s).

Originally designed as a method of propulsion. Astra's backpack unit is capable of generating a large pair of wings made from light particles. With them, he is able to capture and convert energy from solar winds into propulsion. In theory, this would allow him unlimited and continuously increasing acceleration overtime for deep space travel, all without generating pollution that could damage sensitive electronics.
To optimize them for combat however, a high energy internal laser is added in order to generate its own pseudo solar winds and achieve a faster acceleration time. A side effect of this is that the high energy exhaust charges the light particles of the wings, effectively turning them into large contained beam saber. As a result, they are optimized for hit and run tactics.

Astra’s Photon Wings exhaust what look like plumes of photon energy as he flies around in combat. While they appear to be a decoration however, these also begin to attack Astra’s opponents by striking and detonating.

As a precaution, Astra has safety limiters placed on him to keep himself operating within 100% safe boundaries almost indefinitely in theory. In times of crisis however, he can disable the limiters to reach his full generator output and theoretical combat performance. A set of radiator fins extend out from his shoulder and leg armor while extra Photon Wing exhausts open from his backpack, giving him an extra set of wings and ways to compensate for the excess heat built from operating under overdrive conditions.
Effects: For every defensive skill out of uses, Astra can choose from one of these effects to remain during his Hyper Mode duration.
