*Embera could barely acknowledge Genesis' hand on her shoulder before she felt them back in the crater of the volcano, a few meters away from the Geothermal access point, disconnected from the internet due to the instability in Electopia. Falling to her butt, Embera let out the loudest sigh she ever managed without pouting. She thought bout Zane again as she felt the blazers against the ground when she fell. She tried to put the thoughts behind her as she looked up to Genesis, a sullen, defeated look on her face.*
Embera: Remember when we could do something about people trying to destroy us? hehe...
*A half-hearted smirk crept on her face as she shook her head.*
Embera: I don't even know what to do anymore. I don't even know what's going on, and I just feel like my whole life is falling apart...and I don't even know how to fix it.

*He couldn't help a laugh at her first comeback. In all honesty he was more than accustomed to being able to brush aside whatever he had to brush aside. Off and on he was oppressed, but usually if he didn't have an answer alone then he could just work with Embera, Zane, or in rare cases like this one the Armored Destroyer and just remove the problem still.*
"Yeah, those were good times too."
*Right now those were past tense. He could tell she was serious too, but he appreciated her approach still. As for what she mentioned about not knowing what was going on... he couldn't give her concrete answers either. He was in the dark there as well and only knew what could be called a bare minimum. THIS, however, was what he was used to. So he couldn't say that was strange anyway.*
"I don't even know how much is involved here, but I do know that these guys have the intention to change the world, and the means to do it. Between Rosso's strength and the sheer numbers presented at New Life alone speaks for itself: we're heavily outclassed on our own right now. And recruiting others is difficult to say the least with how the world is now."
*They completely capitalized on the world divided itself. Thanks to that the communication between all sides were shaky. And the NIA and ONB would have no real love for each other after their failed attempts to defend New Life. He could only hope that the Destroyer got some information on anything and that Resonance was alright at Element City, of which he'd be investigating shortly too. Wasn't as important now, as Embera mentioned her life falling apart and not knowing how to fix it.*
"I would ask how your life is falling apart, but the answer has something to do with you owning Purgatory now, doesn't it?"

*Embera looked at the blackened sky, blanketed by the smoke before breathing the warmth generated by the magma. She sat up and looked at her foot, still missing that shoe and smiled a tear-filled smile, before it digitized back into place. She sighed and shook her head again, trying to get the jumbled words and emotions back into place.*
Embera: I never met Rosso, but I'm surprised that Deav and the Reavers are active without Juno influencing things so much. None of them ever really bothered me directly, so I didn't pay them much mind...
*She was somber, almost detached from the topic, like she didn't really care about the actors involved, be they ONB or Reavers. She could only think about that domineering ferocity Zane displayed. She felt the blazers at her waist again and trembled slightly, brutally reminding her that what happened wasn't a dream this time.*
Embera: You're exactly right, Gen... When I went down to stop Element City from falling, there were so many reaverbots around, but by the time I had reached the ground, they were decimated, burned to ashes. When I turned around, I saw him! I saw Zane again! I threw my shoe at him because he never got in touch with us! Ahahaha....
*Embera smiled softly for but a brief, fleeting moment before her eyes drifted down again.*
Embera: He was fighting a Generational who was saying that he was trying to protect us from him, it was strange. He offered me the option to help fight him, but...
*She cringed. Watching the video playback was burned into her mind. She could not stop seeing the brutal strikes as Rosso took down Genesis. She sobbed silently, trying to catch her breath to finish talking.*
Embera: The Generational showed me a video of him fighting you and the Destroyer, and he struck you both down. When I asked him to explain, he said that if he were to attack you, you'd be dead, but I could feel it. I could feel in his words and in his fire that he fought you, and I was so torn. I didn't know what to do in that moment, but I knew I couldn't raise my hand to him. I begged him to give me Purgatory, to keep him with me when he's not around....and here I...am...now...
*Embera began sobbing audibly, tears streaming down her face as she knelt, lowering her head to the ground. She clenched her fists, but could not stop the sorrow that filled her right now. She looked up to Genesis through the tears and managed to speak in her now quivering voice.*
Embera: My family's falling apart Gen....you two are all I'm so scared that it's over. That I'm going to be all alone again....I don't know what to do anymore. Nothing feels right, and I don't know how to make things work again. I just want my family back like it used to be.

*Deav? He must have been one of the Reavers, but he had to agree. He thought they were only operating from Juno. And while he didn't see the conclusion of Megaman Juno either, he thought that he had been eliminated given the state of Elysium's fall. He hadn't ever engaged them directly either, so there was truth behind him not fighting them thanks to that. Zane decimating the Reaverbots sounded in like him, what with them attacking the city like that and confirmed that he was right for Resonance to check out the city as well. Except then she said he fought the Generational, which could have only been Resonance himself.*
"What?"
*That didn't make sense. If both of their goals would be to help the city, why would Resonance fight him? Unless... fighting him and the Destroyer. How could he be so short-sighted? He was so focused on what he was doing that it never crossed his mind to put those together. They acted as entirely different people, and yet there were but a few subtle differences between Zane and Rosso otherwise. Their personalities couldn't be further apart and how they fought was somewhat different, but if he gave her the Purgatory that sealed the deal. The navi they once knew was changed in ways he never thought possible. He didn't picture Zane doing this of his own volition. Fighting each other was one thing, but how they fought each other and what had happened so far were completely different. The NIA wasn't a cause that Zane would support in the way that he did, nor was it something that he would fight over as he did. Not to mention the collateral damage he inflicted in their battle. Everything that happened didn't lead him to connect the dots to it being Zane at all save for the appearance. It made sense that Embera would zero in on that compared to him, especially once he was focused on something.*
"It's safe to assume Resonance is no longer with us then..."
*If he engaged Zane, Rosso, directly... then it was pretty likely. But if so it was a death that Resonance would have no regrets about. Plagueman probably went with him and if he didn't, that was fine too. Except him surviving each time was steadily becoming suspicious if he made it out of the event again. They had planned for his survival before, which meant their plans for him were likely far from over. And more important than that, this explained why Zane didn't answer his call back in Netopia. He moved over and placed his hand on her shoulder, understanding how she felt.*
"I don't know what he's going through that caused this, but I'm still here. And if I can, I'll see what we can do about our wayward family member. If Zane's like this, maybe Zerix and Zaven know what's going on here to lend us a hand."
*He hadn't heard from Zane at all and he had met Zaven recently. There was no way he would have mistaken Rosso given how close they were. Was that why he said he'd only serve as a watchman for them in Netopia and let them know when? Their plan had worked because their eyes could see him even if nothing else did. So maybe they would have some answers on what in the world happened with Rosso. And his own uncertainty on whether or not he could bring him back to them... if he didn't fall against him in battle at this rate.*

PlagueMan.ERR
Genesis would've felt the feeling so often now, that there would be no mistaking it. Without warning or invitation, the feeling within his core that told him he had a visitor would expand, as PlagueMan plugged his core processors into the Onyx Overlords - as per the usual, without the intent to destroy or harm, but, with the intent to survive.
Rather than speak, the somber little ball of red code let his conscious mind merge with that of the Navi he resided within. Immediate sorrow, regret and helplessness wrapped around them as their minds became one, and images of that which PlagueMan experienced, powerless against the Trigger to assist, as Rosso bathed the city in his fires, launched his rather passive battle with the generational, and, ultimately, Resonance's demise.
PlagueMan couldn't discuss these things, because despite his greatest efforts, despite his resolve to stop Serix from exploding, despite his attempt at assisting Resonance against Rosso, and even in his final attempts at sacrificing his own adaptational power to keep Resonance alive . . . the generational perished beneath the all-consuming blaze that the Trigger had unleashed. And, just as he had before, when he had once again raised his hand to attempt to keep Rosso at bay alongside the Destroyer and Genesis - even if he had been much more passive then - he made his way out alive. For all of their deaths . . . for Resonance's . . . he would live on, knowing that, rather than die instead of them, he was the one that made it out.
"They do not allow anything to happen that isn't planned," he spoke, his voice file warping in and out to different tones, intensities and sometimes just giving way entirely to static; but Embera would hear it, too. The sorrow of the moment, even through the glitched files of his audio drive, was evident. "Rosso swung his blade that decimated cities, and Navis walked away from it marginally unscathed. He can target individuals and whole groups, but exclude some from his pyre . . . which means that my survival, as well as the others', was no mistake.
"It also means that Resonance was a target from the very beginning . . . and I couldn't help him."

*This little guy could really work on his timing skills. If Embera hadn't gotten more tame he could've been hit instead as a result of her aiming at PlagueMan. But if the flames were able to target to that degree then without a doubt, it was Zane. He went far and beyond to make certain he didn't hit anything he didn't want to. That was his creed and way of operating. Anyone who assumed otherwise didn't know him at all. That gave him extremely mixed feelings going forward. Embera had asked that sort of question before, if one could just cut down any opponent for what needed to be done. He wasn't very pick in that regard, but had a few that he would struggle against. With Zane, it was a struggle both because of his morals and because of his strength, especially now. Besting Zane was shaky as it was, now it was to a point he could fight him and the Destroyer together.*
"What's done is done, Plague. We at least gained something from this in the end. Resonance's sacrifice won't be in vain. I can't see the reason why they would let you live to pass this along, nor why Zane would go along with something like this. But I know two people who know more about him than I do."
*Looking back on it, how much did they know about Zane's life? They knew he was a rather obvious assassin in that when he set things on fire you'd probably spot him for it. He had spent his upbringing adapting his abilities so he could utilize them for the benefit of others. He was more of a heroic figure than he would ever be, that was for certain. But other than those there wasn't any real details about him. And that went even more for Zerix and Zaven, who simply accompanied him and said they would look after him. When it came down to it they didn't know much about the family they had made together, but it didn't bother him before. But it was something that was coming back to haunt them now, as if no one else did this and Zane was doing it of his own volition, then they clearly missed something from the years they spent together. So he got to work contacting them now, and given they had replied before...*
"We'll see how long it takes them to get back to me. In the meantime... huh. I guess I actually can't get in contact with him. Guess he'll have to get back to me."
*He didn't have any contact information with the Destroyer. So until the guy found them himself, they were without him for a bit. He didn't imagine him dying too, but it wasn't outside of the realm of possibilities. Just incredibly unlikely. So he wasn't concerned about that avenue at least and would just have to wait it out. Odds were he was lurking and would show up when he deemed it necessary to cut into the conversation. Unlike PlagueMan.*

They both had received the message, and since Zaven had already helped out once had a good idea that if it was a call in that he should show up in person. Zerix had been in Electopia last time so heeding the call was hard when both borders had been shut down. But the summary of those events and the message that they got this time left the impression that it was still urgent. And in this case, even more than the other times they had taken the call to arms. This was about much more than that now.
So Zaven had beamed in first, Zerix simply having walked there instead. They were mostly splintered off lately as they hadn't needed to fight all the battles they used to, and even then it was more like the trio rushing in rather than needing everyone on their team. So they kept in touch and just lived life without interrupting others. Except from the sound of it, things had gotten a bit worse for that. And not everything could be told over the message, but that was the nature of it. Between it saying that there was an update with Zane and that Genesis wanted to ask them some questions, that was about the sum of it in the speed of the message. Plus Embera was here and so were Zane's Blazers, which meant that things had gone in a direction that they imagined neither would appreciate. Zerix would be the one to speak up first, Zaven still looking as though he was in thought after spotting Zane's signatures right there.
"So what, and how bad, is it?"

As if on cue, Genesis receives a very unexpected e-mail from an address that he hadn't seen in quite a long time...
To: Genesis From: Dr.Psyche Subject: Nightshade
It has been far too long, Genesis. I will begin this message with a simple explanation as to my sudden disappearance; my life was in danger. I was getting too close to a few facts, and I knew as a fact that I was being hunted for it, so I escaped while I still could while leaving as little a trail as possible.
As you may have already guessed, I have a very important reason to reach out from my solitude. An acquaintance of yours, Scarface, has been in silent contact with me for some time, and recently requested that I aid a young Navi named Nightshade in his time of need. I analyzed him and found several anomalies that have dire implications. Attached to this e-mail is a full detail of my findings for your review.
When you find time, please make a trip to my new lab. It's located within the bugged-zone of Kotobuki in order to cloak my own bug-based data. Also enclosed is the exact location.
May you be safe in this time of need.
Dr. Psyche

*That was a message from someone he hadn't heard from in some time. Going over it, that made sense as well. It was better to get a move on with as few people knowing about it as possible. He could ask him about what happened in more detail in person, as well as catch up on the present times with each other. And gain his help in analyzing these situations in much better detail than anyone else he knew could that he was willing to ask at this given time. One of those options was more a last resort than anything else. Scarface... another one he hadn't seen in some time that he should get in contact with, though he marched to the beat of his own drum just as Genesis himself did. But these details... they were concerning. Some of these didn't show good signs at all.*
"His data's been changed? That's likely the same case for all of us and gives a clue as well to our more recent mortality issue, not that I mind it. Still changing too... so Nightshade's the reason it spread to Electopia and likely Creamland. Not everyone is steadfast in the face of adversity. And this residue won't amount to anything as ruthless as the previous owners of things like Gospel or Griega did."
*That virus ending up in Nightshade from Griega's bite of all things said several things too. Sure it was a multi-bug organism, but that wasn't how it operated. No, it had been tampered with. And the beast had spread it to the other navi in its final aggressive bid before it was wiped off the board. While that residue lingered he imagined it was just as simple to pluck it out of the navi than anything else. But it at least meant the navi could control it better than the others could, save for two that he knew of. But theirs were more unique cases as opposed to the other beasts. But back to the control... it certainly meant that... he could go over it in more detail as well. By now the doctor would likely have discovered a bit more, coming back to reality.*
"We can discuss it on the move once we meet up with our other leader. Best to get it all out of the way at the same time. For now, I want to investigate ground zero. Whatever dealt the final blow to New Life ran right through it. It had to land in Element City as a result. We're heading there next. Embera, you can take some time to yourself. I'll see what I can do about this."
*If he could do anything about Zane at this stage. Or Rosso, rather. He moved out, heading back to the now burning wastes of the city. Electopia had seen better days, but this wasn't the worst shape it had ever been in either. At least it was more than just a total wasteland through and through like that time during the Eternal Endgame.*
