As Rook surveyed his surroundings, he couldn't help but notice the one navi that seemed to avoid joining the group. He decided that it would be a good idea to introduce himself to this navi, and see if he could make a friend. Walking over to her, Rook held out his right hand in greeting. "Hi, name's Rook. Nice to meet you." It wasn't much of a greeting, but simplicity was his way of doing things. That, and he couldn't remember much more than his self appointed name.

"Log on: Mayura file extension .AXA, Data Version 1, initializing analytic programs... success. Initializing rasterization module... success. Mayura file extension .AXA online."
Mayura gracefully floated down the furthest from the gate entrance. Her pulsating white wings protruded from external attachments, reminiscent of blue shoulder pads. She wore a blue uniform with a white strip down the center. Her white hair flowed slowly onto her shoulders as she landed.

Remaining civil. She certainly hoped so. Though with the crowd of people beginning to grow, she didn't know if that would cause the ones that were here to get a little unruly whenever the gates themselves did open. She had no idea what this sort of thing was even for. She'd never heard about it before, and certainly, there wasn't any information on it that she could find that wasn't just rumors and that sort of thing. So with that being said, something like this was well beyond her level of understanding.
She glanced back to Asymptote at his concern over what they would be required to do once the gates themselves did open. "What if this is but a test for one's amusement? See how long the Navi that arrive here stand here waiting for something to happen when there might not be anything at all? How amusing that would be," the woman said with a small laugh, the woman's gaze glancing to and fro at the others here, before the descending of one from above caught her attention, and her gaze followed the winged one's descent down from above, Krystania's data scanner reading her as 'Mayura.'
"That was quite the entrance," the woman clapped, smiling widely though she did not stray too far from Asymptote. "What beautiful wings," the woman commented, the warmth of her tone and smile contrasting with the rimefrost that covered her armor.

Zaven had arrived outside of the gate as well, looking between the people but not interacting all too much yet. It was where he had managed to get to after that whole fiasco before and his wandering about, so this was where he'd check out next. And he still had no qualms against checking things out, that was for sure.

A stream of data poured into a single spot, materializing a rather tall and grim looking navi slightly above the ground. Once his body completed loading into the area, he landed with the audible dull clang of metal striking ground. Legacy scanned over the gathering in front of the gate, only knowing roughly what the gathering was for. There certainly were an interesting assortment of navis, some familiar even. He recognized Nightshade and had the pleasure of getting to know Baxter through battle not too long ago.
"Ka-Ka-ka! A most amusing group! How promising!" Legacy cackled, excited at what fun was in store.

....Vytrex just sort of shows up at the last possible second as the bridge disappears.
After the long and arduous wait, at last a loud, chiming "clang" arises from the Gates of Fortune, and a bright, encompassing light begins to shine. The time has come at last for the great spectacle to begin!
The gates open wide to reveal the same beautiful hall that a few of those in the area had seen in the past, yet something was very obviously different. Between the two now frozen crystal rivers leading to the main platform stands a Christmas Tree.... a Christmas Tree that stands at the very least 5 stories high! Adorned with ornaments of gold, silver, and bronze, the tree towers into the open, snowing sky above, revealing beautiful majesty. A huge string of garland wraps around the tree perfectly, falling to the ground at the bottom and forming a perfect walk-way, making it obvious that the intent is to climb the Christmas tree. However, every so often the garland bundles and becomes nearly impossible to climb past. On top of this, massive strings of tinsel attach from the tree to the walls around, constantly blowing in the breeze and making it impossible to see very far up from the ground. While the tree is visible, it's impossible to make out any detail beyond the very bottom. And on this very bottom stands the familiar Navi himself. Bronze armor with silver and golden adornments, a red cape of velvet, a halo around his forehead that slowly shifts from gold to silver to bronze and back again, and on top of this... a santa hat covering his red hair and topping his welcome, open smile.
Saint: Welcome, one and all, to the Gates of Fortune!
Saint steps forward with a smile, holding his arms out as he does so.
Saint: My name is Saint, and I will be your host for this event! We're doing things a little differently this time, so let me explain how our event is going to play out!
Saint motions back to the tree with his hand.
Saint: This majestic tree shall be our playground. Your job shall be to collect the ornaments that adorn it, as well as the secrets that lay within.
Saint holds up two fingers and turns back to the group.
Saint There are going to be two ways to do this. The first is obviously to climb it. However, you can only climb so far right now. The second way is to attack the tree from the ground and cause ornaments to fall to you. However, you can only attack so high right now. You are free to do either, and you are also free to switch mid-game between them at will. However, note that you will have to re-start at Tier 1 if you do so. You are allowed 1 action per turn with a few exceptions. Here's a list of what you can do:
CLIMBER ACTIONS Take a specifically named ornament from the tier where you currently stand.
Shake the tree for an attacker, allowing said attacker to get higher rewards
Attempt to catch the ornaments from an attacker, possibly stealing rewards as a result.
Attack the tree along with a specific attacker, possibly causing a hidden ornament to fall for that attacker.
Attack a tinsel barrier, possibly allowing attackers access to the next tier of the tree.
Saccrifice a number of ornaments to climb to the next level. One level may be climbed per turn, the number of ornaments that must be saccrificed reflects the tier-number on the tree (tier 1=1 ornament, tier 2=2 ornaments, ect). May be done once per turn without taking up an action, you may only climb as high as has been unlocked for Climbers
ATTACKER ACTIONS Attack the tier of the tree that you're currently aiming for, getting 0-3 random ornaments. You cannot choose the ornaments that you are aiming for.
Attack along with a climber's ornament picking, potentially allowing him/her to gain an extra ornament on his/her turn.
Attempt to attack a climber, possibly causing him/her to fall and possibly stealing a random ornament.
Attempt to attack near a climber, possibly revealing a hidden ornament for that climber.
Remove a garland barrier, possibly allowing climbers access to the next tier of the tree.
Saccrifice a number of ornaments to aim at the next level. One level may be raised per turn, the number of ornaments that must be saccrificed reflects the tier-number on the tree (tier 1=1 ornament, tier 2=2 ornaments, ect). May be done once per turn without taking up an action, you may only aim as high as has been unlocked for attackers
Saint: Those are the basics, but you MAY still be able to do more, so please feel free to experiment!
Oh, and if you want to attack but lack the capability for long-ranged attacks...
Saint leans over and picks up a handful of snow, forming a snowball and tossing it behind the group as a demonstration.
Saint: Please keep record of all ornaments that you have successfully collected and note them with each passing post. Rewards for them will not be given out until the end of the event. However, there is one main catch.
Saint reaches behind his cape and pulls out a small, gift wrapped box.
Saint: These are the real treasures of the Gates of Fortune: Gift Boxes. Some of these ornaments contain these boxes. Should you find one, it will instantly reveal itself to you. And here's where the real fun begins. We're going to be playing something of a "secret santa" game here. Once you obtain a gift-box, you have two choices; the first is to keep it for yourself. This is perfectly acceptable. however, you are only allowed to keep one that you've found for yourself. All others must be given to another Navi within the Gates of Fortune. But here's the real fun; if you already hold a gift, your new gift will be teleported to me directly, and you will be required to secretly share the name of another Navi in the event, and he or she will receive it at the very end of the event. No telling who you gave your gift to either.
(OOC: Special note: If you revieve a gift box that you cannot hold or want to give away directly, send a PM to me on Discord stating which Navi should receive it. Failure to do so by the end of the event will result in a penalty)
Saint: ...and as the more astute among you may have picked up, holding onto a gift-box means that you cannot receive another, so make sure that you're holding onto the box that you want to keep for yourself in the end!
And now, without further ado... let the Gates of Fortune begin!
Saint then tosses the gift-box that he'd been holding onto to StrifeMan with a smile.
StrifeMan receives:
Candycane Box A white and red-striped giftbox. Smells oddly sweet, with a bow that has a peppermint attached!

The boy's eyes grew wide as he took in the festive tree. Mouth agape, he ran all around the tree in wonder. All the while, his rapier pattered about behind him, making a rhythmic ding with each jogging step. Seeing a golden ball catch his eye, he tugged on Saint, pointing to the golden ball, as if asking to be boosted up to where it was. To get ready, he held out his sword hand to Saint, offering his rapier for safekeeping before excitedly pointing to the ball again. Its golden shimmer enticing him.

Saint just smiles at the young boy, taking his sword and clipping it to his belt before raising him up onto his shoulders and placing him on the garland path to the ornament that he so desires.

Nib excitedly laughs as he gets lifted up, up, higher. Now in prime position, he clutches onto the golden ball and keeps it held tight as he moves up toward the Garland Barrier and begins exclaiming loudly out to the people below.
Nib: ....!!!!

Rook didn't really feel like claiming any particular ornaments just yet and instead decided that he would clear a path for the others. As an example of this, he made a simple statement followed by a question.
"You said that one of the possible things we could do is to remove the garland barriers. Could you show me how to do so, that I might clear a path for the others?"
Given that this event was holiday themed, Rook felt like getting into the holiday spirit of giving rather than receiving.

"Oho? So that's how it works then..." Legacy rubbed his implied chin on his helmet as he stared at the tree and took in Saint's explanation. Legacy admitted that climbing the tree sounded fun, but it was also not exactly his style. The lanky armored navi was ill suited for physical movement and preferred a more hands off approach. With that in mind, three orbs detached themselves from his "spine" before sprouting batwings...And miniature Santa hats.
"Let the festivities begin then! Strike them!" Legacy commanded as the familiars scattered and struck at random.

StrifeMan.EXE
StrifeMan growls as the individual sweeps out his blood, and, with the glowing of his profane gaze, the blood floats back to his body. He wasn't much paying attention to that, though, as the gates finally opened up.
He recognized it well, but, it was without all the other areas that it once had. The rivers were frozen, and the lofts of vines and extra treasures were closed off - the large tree at its center showed promise, though, and StrifeMan could already see how this little game would unfold.
Fidgeting side to side, every now and again absentmindedly slicing a new wound open with his claws, StrifeMan listened to the rules and outlines. Stealing ornaments, hmm? A game of teamwork and climbing, where discourse and calamity's woe's were at their finest? This was something he'd quite enjoy.
He turned to the little man that had smeared his blood on his finger. "It's a game of teamwork, yes! Listen here - in return for me not mauling you, however enjoyable such a thing would be," he paused, licking his lips for a moment. Did his jaw just elongate, just a little bit? "You're going to stay down here and hit the tree where appropriate, so that I can climb up it. Once we're at a level for a little while, we can help each other grab the pretty shinies, and maybe got a nice box with a bow on it! Never did much understand the point of a bow you can't fire, I didn't . . . although, I suppose you could light it on fire. Does that count?" He seemed more caught up in his own enigmatic thoughts than on his plan with the little runt.
"Any ways! Point is, we work together, get the shinies out of the tree. We both win! If you hit the tree and something falls out that doesn't look shiny, I'll leave it alone - I won't touch it at all if it's silver. No, no, no; StrifeMan doesn't like silver, not a bit!"
He shook, almost trembling at the thought. He adored any kind of pain, but, even he couldn't endure the agony that supernatural element inflicted upon him. "Are we in understanding? Don't get mauled, and you help me help you? Good!"
He didn't even wait for the little runt to answer, and went running towards the tree. One of his hands suddenly shifted, and his demonic skin rippled as bones shifted and fur grew from his back, as his upper body suddenly took on the lupine features of his lycanthropic form. Large claws gripped the edge of the tree, as he decided to take this route up, and climbed up to the lowest, shiny ornament he could find.
[CLIMBING ACTION - Gold Ball #1]
[INVENTORY - Candycane Box]
Vytrex, a simple man, would smack the bottom of the tree with his hammer, hoping for a good ornament to fall, and praying the tree didn't get spontaneously deleted.

Asymptote looked up at the massive tree and then back to Krystania as he gave her a pat on the back. Heh. Looks like you were wrong. But I'm gonna start climbing the tree myself. That seems to be the most tactically sound decision for me. If I find anything I'll make sure you're the first to know. Asymptote would chuckle, giving her a beaming smile despite the mask that covered his head and a nod to her. The massive navi running up towards the tree and quickly jumping at the five story tall piece of cyber lumber, grabbing hold of the pine needles in both hands and starting to climb in a spider-like fashion, his attention immediately towards one of the Tinsel that was wrapped around the tree, his hand reaching towards the strip of fabric as he held on tightly with both hands and feet, he would release it for the attackers to fire at the second tier of the tree.

Baxter Sounds good! Belarus you stay down here at the bottom and let me do all the climbing! Try to catch my goods! An excited Baxter pats his Candevil companion on the head and pounces onto the lowest branch of the tree, quickly scampering up its piney bristles and latching onto a silvery orb
Down below, Belarus simply rolls around in the snow, becoming a snowdevil. His gaping maw decorated with a large snowy beard.

As soon as the Gates began to open, Krystania watched with an even expression, not wanting to give away anything that might lead others to think less (or more) of her. She was still learning things, in a day-by-day basis and as such, something like this was beyond her understanding in both how it appeared, and why it was here. Not that anyone else seemed to be questioning it...so she supposed that she also should not.
As she caught sight of what lay beyond those gates, however, any chances of her keeping a straight face were all but lost. The grandiose hall, the frozen rivers and the gigantic tree all caused her to become giddy with excitement as she clapped her hands excitedly, holding them together at the last clap, a wide smile on her face. She moved forward along with the rest, her eyes wide as she turned, looking about in wonderment as she saw the number of things that were in here. The tree was just the start of it, and there was so many more interesting things to see in here. It was as if an entire wonderland of her own imagination had suddenly sprang into existence, and she had somehow gotten to the heart of it.
Her gaze flickered to Saint as the man spoke, and she turned her attention to their host, not wanting to be rude. This appeared to be a...game of a sort? She wasn't quite sure but just from what he man was speaking of, it seemed that there was a collaboration between people who would take to the tree and those that would stay below to assist the climbers. It was an interesting little game, but all-in-all, Krystania was mostly just sad that they had to attack the tree, as pretty as it was. It was like something out of a dream and she didn't want to cause it any real damage if she could help it. The darkness that exuded from her blade would certainly quell some of the festive cheer, and she couldn't have that!
"I don't think I've ever enjoyed being wrong more," she responded to Asymptote, nodding to the man as he turned, beginning to lumber toward the tree. The large fellow took a few running steps before launching himself like a cannonball at the decorated tower. She glanced to Saint then, noting the man helping a small boy to retrieve an ornament, something that brought a genuine smile to Krystania's face as she watched the others for a second before she stepped around the Snowdevil to form a ball of snow, taking a small half-step for aim before she hurled the powdery sphere near Asymptote, knocking away some of the branches and perhaps letting him see something further within.
As she finished, not quite watching what the results were, she moved over toward Saint then, giving the man a small curtsy. "This is a most wonderful surprise, Mr. Saint. I can't imagine the time that went into preparing something like this, but everyone seems to be enjoying themselves...even that one," she spoke, gesturing toward the bleeding werewolf that was ferociously climbing the tree. "I just want to say thank you, for doing all of this."
