Merrill sighed, standing on one of the walkways parallel to the river in the middle of Element city. It wasn’t very often he left the Forest, mainly for quick supply runs, and to get any news. He tried to avoid people and whatnot for the most part. He had done his best to stay out of the edgy politics of late. Even his temp OP, Xy, kept busy, floating from hospital to hospital, working on various medical technologies, both just keeping busy. But today, Merrill had received an odd request: to show up in Element City. What mysterious person had reached out to him today?

As Merrill stands quietly waiting for whoever celled him, a Navi walks up behind him very, very silently. Creeping along in an almost cartoonish manner, he closes the gap, rears his hand back in a looming fashion... and taps Merrill on the shoulder.
Edge: Excuse me sir, you've been selected to take part in a special Official Experiment Labs experiment. We're testing the long-term effects of decapitation on a randomly selected sample.
Edge then puts up his hand and forms a white, whirling energy buzzsaw on his wrist, looking past it with an almost sardonic smile.
Edge: And I suppose that I shouldn't tell you this before-hand, but there is no placebo group

As Edge taps his shoulder, Merrill turns, staring right at Edge. As the bladed weapon made it's werring noise, Merrill's neutral expression soured.
"We are in a public place, surrounded by people. If you called to pick a fight, you should have done so elsewhere..."
Merrill frowned, his voice deepening, almost to a growl, and being just loud enough for Edge to hear.
"And not with someone like me."
Merrill looked around, taking note of where several people, including a family of 5, were walking on the other side of the path walk. Two people noticed Edge, and started backing away quietly. Merrill wanted to avoid a confrontation in the city. He stared down Edge, waiting to see if he was serious. He instantly felt the two other souls stir, each making a comment.
"You should just leave, or get him away from here."
"Or, you just kill him quickly, and shove him in the water."

Edge brazenly reaches over and puts an arm around Merrill's shoulders. This also happens to be the arm with a buzzsaw affixed to it, which now spins and buzzes right next to the winged Navi's face.
Edge: See, that's the thing, buddy. I really don't care! Shows of force and games of bravado are downright boring. And besides; I'm just a friendly Navi helping a stranger loosen his... neck.
Edge then suddenly closes his eyes and gains an almost aloof face, shoving Merrill forward with the palm of his hand as he does so.
Edge: Relax, snowflake. I'm not actually here for a fight. I was actually here to rob you.
This is when Edge pulls a familiar key-shaped sword, one of the MZKeyZoths, from behind his back and tosses it lightly to Merrill with a smile.
Edge: Too kingdom-hearts for my taste, Sora. But tell Donald that I say hi. Dude rocks.

Merrill didn't even flinch as the buzzsaw hissed right against his neck. Edge's touch bothered Merrill immensely, although Merrill wouldn't show it. Since that incident, he had hated when anyone touched him. But what really surprised Merrill, was that suddenly Edge was holding HIS weapon. A weapon he hadn't even summoned! Had he?
No, he didn't. He would have known or felt or realized it, even if he had done so instinctively or reactively. The weapon never made it to Merrill, as he made the weapon vanish in mid air. What Edge stated next, Merrill looked at him in confusion. Instead, he asked a question of his own. He tried to make sense of the situation
"So what did you call me for? You did send me that email, yes?"
He did his best to keep his emotions in check. One soul, watched his vessel carefully. The other watched quietly, keeping her thoughts to herself quietly.

Edge then puts his arm around Merrill again, very much realizing how much it bothered him, and begins to walk forward... using the other MZKeyZoth in a manner similar to a cane in his free hand.
Edge: Well, m'boy. I called you because I wanted to discuss the positives and negatives of your personal view on antidisestablishmentarianism in our current political climate.
Edge once again stops, positions himself in front of Merrill, pushes him to arms length, and tosses the other sword to him.
Edge: Seriously though: I don't even know who you are, how could I have contacted you?

Merrill's frustration mounted, as the pair of navi's walked along the path. Merrill held his guard high, noting where people stood and were walking. As Edge spoke, Merrill sighed. He had stepped back into the shadows, staying away from the public, away from the fighting. His last 2 battles had taken a severe toll on him, on his spirit.
Edge then threw Death, the black blade at him. Merrill made the blade disappear quickly as well, somewhere feeling both annoyed and curious as to how Edge managed to magically pull his weapons. He was about to make a remark when suddenly, some one bumped into him, handing him a letter. Before Merrill could grab the navi, he was gone, disappearing quite literally before his eyes. He activated his True sight, which allowed him to feel out and see the Life Force of others, failed. He sighed, and stared down at the letter. it had his name on it. He opened it, a small piece of paper. He stared at it, a single tear rolled down his cheek.
It read:
"She's alive."

Edge stands there as Merrill receives his letter, keeping his arms crossed and tapping away on one arm with his fingers. His expression is blank and bored as he notes the tear running down Merrill's face, and finally he just drops to an absolutely dead-pan response to the situation.
Edge: Well that just sort of happened, didn't have anything to do with me. How am I supposed to even respond to that? Think, snowflake! When you're having a moment with someone, it's rude to suddenly make friends with a piece of paper!

Merrill snapped back to the present, Edge's rhythmic tapping suddenly sounding in his ears.
"That's a good question. Clearly I got my answer. It wasn't you. But then that leaves another question. Just who are you? And then Why did you pick me out of everyone in the crowd?"

Edge shoots Merrill a wry smile at these questions, very silently laughing to himself as he does so.
Edge: Well obviously it wasn't me. If it were me, you'd have shown up to something way cooler than a bunch of nameless faceless Navis running around. Name's Edge, and the reason that I singled you out might be because you're the only other Navi being actively roleplayed here but that's neither here nor there.
Edge once again throws an arm around Merrill, walking with him along the way.
Edge: So best buddy, what's the plan? Find the triforce? Save peach from Bowser? Grab some nachos? Please say it's nachos.

Merrill turned to face Edge, stopping. He felt like he could tolerate Edge's antics, but he was anxious, even with Edge... well... Being Edge.
"What's first, you ask? A two step process. First, an email."
He raised his hand, swiping his fingers, a transparent keyboard appearing. He quickly sent an email off to his OP.
"Second... Do you like games? Because I think I have a game in mind that you might be perfect for."
He waited for Edge to respond, for the first time, his negative expressions and emotions seemed to fade. A tiny hint of a smile appearing.
"Yes... child. Have hope..."
"Hmph... You know what will happen to him right? And you? If it's false?"
"I am."
"... Good."

Edge rolls his eyes and looks to the sky, catching that Merrill was starting to warm up to him. Not exactly what he wanted from the winged Navi, as causing annoyance was always his prime objective, but at least he wasn't getting all clingy like the last guy.
Edge: Let's see... last time someone asked me that I woke up a week later tied up on a glacier in Netfrica with my kidney missing. And the really weird thing is that I didn't even have kidneys before that
At this edge shrugs.
Edge: ...and don't ask me how a glacier got into Netfrica either. Still haven't figured that out. But oh well; so long as we're not playing Navi Doc or something like that, I'm game.
Edge intertwines his fingers and puts his hands behind his head, starting to look a bit bored at the situation.

With a slight smile, Merrill leans forward, right up to Edge's face, as he finishes speaking.
"TAG! YOU ARE IT!"
With a shove. Merrill pushes Edge into the stream of water on the right, making sure the navi trips over his foot. Merrill then takes a dive into the other stream, diving down deep. However, he failed to see the large metal pipe above him while he was swimming, so he clocked his head, instantly being knocked unconscious. He floated down the stream, out of the city, to lands unknown...

Taken off guard, Merrill successfully trips Edge, sending him tumbling into the ankle-deep waterway where he sits, watching as Merrill dives into the opposite river... where he KOs himself and floats off to parts unknown.
Edge: ...dangit, in the end he out-randomed me.
