”Ashes to ashes; dust to dust!” _______________________________ There was its chance!
Murder had swarmed the floor in waves of darkness. Even though there were three, the speed in which it moved, the trailing feathers, and the beating wings made it seem like there were hundreds! The wisps of darkness had swept past the NetNavis upon the terrain, coveted the orb of darkness, and piece by piece there was a small blot of the liquid and blob-like texture that begun to pelt the floor was beak by beak pierced the orb. It took mere seconds for the dark chip to make a full on blast that was as intense as a sun shine outward in an eerie purple light. However, that light had quickly faded.
The flock of darkness had begun to lift leaving nothing but falling black feathers and a core that was racked with pulsing nerves making it look like an irritating eyeball. The blob-like creature that was towering in size had let out an ear shattering screech as the feathery creatures departed with one of them holstering the dark chip in tow between their beaks. One of the feathery creatures let its talons reach out to the darkness as from one of the nearby walls, a single limb came forth with a hand opening revealing long nails and chiming golden jewelry from what seemed like a void in the wall.
“Momma couldn’t be any prouder of you!”
The voice said happily with an ominous muse of laughter leaving the darkness of the void while the single wrist sunk into the fleshy texture with the single bird perched, and its fellows following.
It seemed just like that, whatever had come had simply gone leaving the weakened blob creature to regenerate within the castle as it attempted to recover from the sudden raid from the mysterious assailant.

As a new being seized their target's 'power',Riclice looked on until the moment it vanished.
His clear blue eyes swept across the room. There was the tall,stalwart-like figure whom had taken a deadly blow, the fiery woman whom he had placed against the wall nearby,and...the creature whom he still wasn't too sure about. There were several casualties, but it seemed they were fine for now...
Walking forward,Riclice stopped near the tallest of them, speaking to the warrior.
"I'm sorry about your arm there. I'd definitely heal it if I could..." he spoke calmly. The swordsman was glad at least a few of them were alive, but healing abilities were beyond him...
Riclice then looked toward their previous enemy, taking a few cautious steps toward it.
"Are you ok there...?"
Some would think of it as crazy to ask such a question toward one that tried to end them. But Riclice saw no issue in doing so. No,such action was a part of him.

Riclice's count was accurate, but not precise. Remnant's consciousness returned to him -- he had blacked out earlier, from taking such a devastating blow without bracing for it -- and what once appeared to be a lifeless body had now risen to its feet.
A high-pitched noise rang in his ears as he quickly rose to his feet, and his balance had slightly faltered due to the brief hinderance of his vision -- from his perspective, the entire room appeared to be twisting and tilting until his eyes fully readjusted themselves. In mere seconds, though, his awareness was back to normal, despite the new wounds flickering over his body.
Remnant's body -- his entire appearance -- was that of a shadowy, almost black entity. His new wounds, however, were a vibrant cyan color, and more blocky in texture. These blocky, cyan wounds would occasionally flicker and shift every so many seconds as his body constantly tried (and failed) to repair them. Despite the injuries, Remnant stood as if nothing hindered him.
" The Dark Chip was removed, but the monster still stands..."
Monologuing again -- still loud enough for allies to hear him if they were listening.
" But a new Core has emerged... So let us strike it down."
Remnant split into two separate selves once again -- both covered in the same wounds as before.
The Second Remnant shot into the air as if ejecting from a cockpit, or launched from a springboard. Before even reaching its peak, the Remnant's trajectory suddenly and without warning changed course, crashing down toward the exposed eye at breakneck speeds in order to collide foot-first with it.
This Mach-Speed Stomp intended to bury the target underneath Remnant's foot as he landed, but he'd take whatever he could get with it.
Upon touching down, he began harnessing a mysterious orb of energy again -- yet this time, it wasn't in his palm, but in his chest.
Digging his heels into the eye he'd landed on, Remnant did his best to keep it down as he finished charging up every once of strength he could -- and only to throw his arms wide and unleash the energy in a massive, earth-shaking self-destruction.
It appeared as if a thin beam of white light fell from the sky and collided with Remnant, then instantaneously spread into a massive pillar of blinding radiance, fully consuming Remnant and hopefully the being beneath his foot.
The entire room would shake and tremble at the blast, on even though the rest of the group was outside of its radius, they could still feel the warmth of the luminous sacrifice.
But this entity only held half of Remnant's power. The other half was still standing where he had previously been -- new wounds coursing his body as even more of his data had become damaged from the sacrifice of his second self. Remnant -- the remaining Remnant -- was now more brightly cyan colored (from his numerous wounds) than shadowy black.
He was too exhausted to really do much else at this point, other than drop to one knee and clutch his abdomen in pain. His eyes -- behind his solid black visors -- travelled to Riclice and Erat as he knelt there, out of energy and out of breathe.
" Finish it off!"
Still speaking in a silent, whisper tone... but within reason now.
He tried to regather as much strength as he could as he remained in his position... If 50% of himself wasn't enough of a sacrifice, then maybe 100% would be.

Riclice made what to most would be considered a grievous error in approaching the creature. They would be correct. For as soon as the yellow eyed being locked eyes with Riclice it sprang to its feet then into the air. It landed on Riclice's head and, using it as a springboard, sprang high into the air towards the now crippled Remnant and the gelatinous fiend.
The pale beast landed right behind Remnant and without losing any moment fell into a grab using its normal hands; reaching for the wounded navis shirt-collar and right thigh. Using the speed of its previous jump as a steroid it would swing Remnant around a few times before hurling him straight into the goop beasts regenerating core.

Serix, barely standing by now, started moving towards both creatures. There was a dullness within her eyes that spelled out that she wasn't all there. As she found her place between the monsters, she began centering her energy, and absorbing all the heat from the surrounding area.
"This ends here."
This was her final tactic, something she had hoped to save for a time when it would be absolutely necessary. As the energy gathered within her, it concentrated in one point.
"Buy me some time."
She didn't speak to anyone in particular, just anyone that was willing to heed her request.
"All I need is five minutes."

“We can infect the world.”
_______________________________
Stalling...stalling...and more lolli-gagging...
Even as the warriors had their chance to take a hit at the stunned foe, it had soon vanished. The room begun to pulsate with the running veins, but then the flooring and walls contracted and eroded away so suddenly. The fleshy interior of the room begun to vanish as the beast begun to realize something: survival was top priority! With its edge lost, Remnant’s body smashing into it, it could not sustain much more damage without its core regenerative energy that was giving it a huge advantage. With a giant explosion, the core splattered itself into many little pieces with a blast that would send the creatures in the area flying.
The massive blob that formed begun to sink into the terrain as if it was melting. The bricks begun to soak up its presence, and soon the complete body of the creature had turned into nothing more than a puddle; a mass of data that was sacrificed to ensure its retreat as it lightened its load. The slimy texture had seemed to be nothing more than a bubbling mixture of the pastels of color that first formed the beast.
Perhaps they were leftovers from data that the beast feasted on before hand?
Either way, the bubbling mass had changed into a collection of Battle Chips that featured the face of a mysterious pink-haired female that has a form similar to the blob. There seemed to be enough for everyone to go around, but slot them in and...they do nothing! It could be a clue to the origin of the creature...or even a hint to why it ran.
Take them with you?

From everyone's final attempts to finish the blob beast,to the blob's escape - everything seemed to happen in a matter of minutes.
His head being used as a springboard made him stagger forward a bit,but not enough to send him to the ground. However,he was surprised by the explosion - which knocked him through the air, similar to Serix's airborne path earlier. Except he landed with a thud a few feet away from the blast's initial location.
His body ached not only from being in close proximity of the explosion, but even from the rough landing too.Perhaps he'd wait a bit before jumping back to his feet...
Shifting as little as possible,Riclice propped himself up with one elbow, looking up to see what had become of the creature and its core.
With a slightly puzzled expression,Riclice eyed the leftover data skeptically. After all,he had no idea what the Battle chips would do if used...but maybe he could go get them analyzed somewhere...after his body recovered.

With Serix's energy absorbtion progressing, the blast did very little to move her. However, it did push her to critical mass.
"RUN"
With only half a minute to spare, Serix made a mad dash towards the other creature.
"It's too late for you."
She seemed to be whispering this to her assailant from earlier.
As soon as she yelled out to run, her virus grabbed onto Finale's motionpess body and started hauling him towards the nearest exit.

By now, Erat's arm had healed to the point where he could now move it, but he could not perform any strenuous tasks with it. But at this point, that didn't matter. He needed to get out of the blast radius and he needed to do it soon. 'Otherwise I'll end up vaporized just like the poor human bomb.' It was a shame she was going out like this, she had seemed like a warrior in her own right. But he couldn't stand there idly and think about that, he needed to go now.
However, Erat was a navi of honor. He would not retreat from the blast radius and allow comrades to fall victim to it, along with the potential leads. He would rather face permanent deletion than dishonor himself. He knew what he would have to do.
With his bad arm he scooped up the leftover battle chip data, and then with his good arm hauled Riclice to his feet. He glanced over at Remnant as he hauled the navi to his feet. Erat knew he was in no state to help both of them, and that he could only hope the navis copy ability could help him escape.
He began to run as fast as he could, adrenaline pumping through his body, practically dragging Riclice if the navi didn't start to run. At the rate Erat could run, he'd be able to reach the fringe of the blast radius if he was lucky, possibly even out of it if Riclice began to run on his own will.

Even though Riclice's body still seemed to be recovering, when he considered that he might be slowing down Erat's escape from the impending massive explosion,Riclice gathered his strength even more, getting a grip on his body's functions.
'No. Even if I'm battered up from that blast,I REFUSE to slow anyone down!'
Slipping from Erat's grip,Riclice began running on his own.AS his body's recovery progressed,he mustered up a force from within and sprinted forward at a faster pace.
His mind brought Serix and Remnant to mind. One of them Riclice was unsure about whether he'd be able to escape...and the second was going to self-destruct herself back there...without enough speed,he was incapable of running back to save Remnnant before Serix's explosion.
And something else occurred to him just then...he had been fighting to protect this area and now it was going to be destroyed! If not severely damaged in a few short moments...
It seemed his best course of action would be to get out of there as quickly as possible...

The threat wasn't quite as big as Remnant had first realized, so sacrificing part of himself was... sort of unnecessary. And it'd bite him in the butt moments later, as the mysterious Navi from before hurled him toward where the giant glob used to be standing.
Luckily for him, it wasn't standing there anymore, so there was nothing for Remnant to collide with but the ground. He had enough time to shift his body before landing, so the landing wasn't too ugly.
At this point, Remnant noticed the Battle Chips on the ground...
" ... No trace of this creature must be left alive. We must destroy every piece of it -- and every object related."
If these things were pieces of the giant blob -- or even if they weren't -- Remnant had seen too many a time when shiny items were mere guises for great plagues. He'd've destroyed them instantly had Erat not already swung by and snatched them up.
Then that was that, and the benefit or curse of these items would be Erat's to bare.
Upon hearing Serix's warning, Remnant knew it was time to act. He sank into his own shadow... but he did not retreat.
Ion and Trance had been forgotten, and both of them were just as worth saving as the rest. Remnant split into two again -- each image of him was severely wounded, hardly able to keep himself afoot, but pushing itself to the limit (and beyond) as one Remnant grabbed Trance, and the other, Ion.
There was no time to run -- especially when carrying these two. But rather, each Remnant would sink into his own shadow again, and travel through the black dimension to shadow-jump into Riclice and Erat's shadows respectively.
Remnant black-shifted quite commonly into the black dimension to travel from shadow to shadow -- but for Ion and Trance, whom each Remnant was dragging along with them, this would probably be a first.
They'd find themselves in a solid black dimension -- hence the name -- void of sight. Void of noise. Void of taste. Void of smell.
The air would almost feel cold, but this dimension was void of 'touch' as well.
Any of the five senses were completely ineffective -- only a sixth sense could navigate through this realm.
Before Trance or Ion would have any time to think about it, they'd find themselves re-emerged in the surface dimension next to Erat and Riclice, outside of the blast's radius (but it wouldn't hurt for them to keep running just incase) -- left almost in a breathless state, since there was no air from where they had just come from either.
Remnant, however, was no where to be found.
He'd vanished from the area, leaving no traces of himself, waiting to emerge once again when another conflict arose from the net.

By now, the young fire navi had run out of time, as had the blob creature. As a sick smile appeared on her face, she began emenating a bright white light. This light transformed into an exponentially expanding ball of energy, eventually destroying everything within a fifty foot radius from the navi, including herself. Since she had been deleted, the virus vanished from sight. Al that was left in Serix's place was a shining red blade, surrounded by crimson flames.

The goop monster collapsed into the floor just in the nick of time to avoid the projectile Remnant. The pale-faced being watched as the hurled victim proceeded to slip similarly into the floor not once, but two-times twice, as he had replicated himself again. The creature turned to face the rest of the group and to select its next dish but was met with only one. The bold spitfire that assaulted it prior was standing there with a condensed energy ball in her hands.
The barely audible quip from the flame navi was like an invitation to its acute ears. In a flash it was on a mad dash for would-be attacker. It's right hand glitching into a rather imposingly large uluit. Just as the rabid beast was within slicing reach Serix reached her peak. A shockwave of energy disrupted the slash and sent the being flipping back. It landed on three legs while the right arm returned to normal, fist clenched.
Its yellow eyes took on an orange tint as it gawked like a fly at the bugzapper that was Serix's explosion. As it reached out to all around it the creature slammed its right fist into the buffered floor. This forced its finger tendrils up to create a meat-shield unlike any other in front of it.
The supernova met with the creatures rock-hard tentacle shield and in an anti-climactic showdown the nova ripped right through it. The now yellow-faced creature was forced to eat the entire "all you can eat" buffet that was Serix's kamikaze, just like the poor reconstruction site. . .. ... .. ... .. .
After the explosion had run its course. Those who escaped the radius could turn back and see naught up shredded data strands everywhere. Collateral damage of a deed deemed necessary by one bent on protection. Yet had caused more damage than both "threats" combined. Amongst the now loose data were solid chunks of still intact castle. Most of the floor remained as well as some pillars, but the ceiling had caved entirely. This rendered exploration of the smoldering site all but child's pipe dream.
Looks like construction would need to begin again.
This of course left the fate of the blasts primary recipient entirely... unknown.

Erat had never seen a navi detonate themselves, at least, not that he could remember. It was a jaw dropping sight, both horrifying and yet beautiful at the same time. As the dust settled and the explosion faded away, it became clear that Serix's final sacrifice had taken out the unknown creature.
But the victory was a hollow one.
For not only had Serix been lost, but so had Finale. The reconstruction site that they had been focused on defending now was almost completely destroyed, both from the explosion and from collapsing due to the lost support. In their attempt to stop the threat they had failed in their own goal. 'Such a waste...'
Seeing how a blade was all that remained of Serix, Erat knew what it's purpose would be. Throwing one of the chips he had grabbed at Riclice for his own inspection, he walked over to the blade and grabbed it by the hilt with his good hand. He inspected it, respecting the craftsmanship. To Erat in this moment, the blade meant more than just a weapon to him. It was a reminder of how weakness cost lives on the battlefield, how his weakness today, his lack of strength, had cost Serix and Finale their lives. It was a symbol of sacrifice that he would not forget.
The pain of his arm slowly being stitched back together brought him back to reality. He needed something to dull the pain, and there was only one thing he turned to in times like this. "I need a drink..." And with that, he was gone, dematerializing as his body began to transfer to somewhere else.

Having safely escaped the intense explosion,Riclice came to a halt outside of the building.
He was a bit surprised to see Ion and Trance pop up nearby, but thankful to see they were okay.
"What a mess..." Riclice said aloud,as he looked upon the devastation that had occurred. At this rate,it'd take quite a while for this network to be restored fully...unless they had plenty of help.
As the mighty navi threw one of the Battle chips his way,Riclice caught it,holding it up with two fingers as he inspected it.
"Rick-?" Riclice asked questioningly,as a window popped up next to him.
"Hm? What's up,Riclice?" the swordsman's Operator stated in a curious manner, looking upon the Battlechip. "...what're you gonna do with that?"
Riclice dematerialized it,storing it away for further use.
"Well, let's try and find out where we can get it analyzed first. Then we'll go from there."
"Sounds good....gives us a reason to try out those new boards." the young man quipped.Though Riclice wasn't too familiar with what his Operator was referring to...
"Boards...? You mean some kind of hovercraft or what...?" he asked, resulting in Rickli slapping his forehead with his right hand, shaking his head.
"No,no...I mean those BBS things. I'll drop a line there and see what kind of responses I get."
In the meantime,Riclice looked around the area, there was a ton of work to be done now...
