Joker likely wanted to have his analytics determine whether or not resistance was the better option for him here. He had no reason to sugarcoat the response and was fine with being curt about it just the same.
"You would be taken in and I would get what I want and then summarily dispose of you. You're a threat should you be allowed to continue at your own pace. That threat however is a boon to me at this time, so you'll be free to go when I'm finished. So long as the problems you present lay low the other thorn in my side in Xion, then it's better that you be allowed to continue existing after I'm through with you. The information that's been gathered on him is all wrong and adjustments must be made."
The most recent report proved that. It was always asserted that the Navi was a problem, but not to the extent that he had shown to be. And even that was likely veiled by those around him. He always managed to not only be the most relevant presence in the groups he aligned with, but also the one that displayed the least of their true nature. Using all of this to his advantage would mean that where that Master Darkloid stood could finally be ascertained and summarily dealt with by that very same token. On the surface they weren't enemies, but from how he understood it there would come a day when they would be. His job was preparing for that inevitability.

His brow furrowed in thought, as Joker considered the specificity of the words he chose. To be permitted to continue to act, so long as the problems he currently presented continued to be a burden to Xion, was that it?
Surely Xion didn't strike him as the type to permit behavior he found egregious. The navi had gone out of his way to remediate any concern that Joker had presented up to this point, even going so far as assigning another individual to Joker whenever he moved from this point forward. A troublesome realization, to be sure, but a realization of fact that Joker could respect nonetheless - he was a wild cannon, truth be told, his analytics systems still young, and his response protocols immature. If he were to look back at his actions up to this point, even he could agree that Xion's actions, while restrictive, were not uncalled for.
So what else could Grom foresee that would continue to be problematic for Xion?
It was interesting, however, how specific he could be on his intentions for after he was done with him, while being incredibly vague of what would happen while he was locked up.
". . . I'm afraid I do not quite understand what you intend to do with me, still, once I am acquired, then, if you say it is simply to eventually release me.
"If it is your intention to utilize me in some way to gather more information on Xion before releasing me, or even making use of me after the fact to make gathering information on him easier, then I'm afraid I have no choice but to refuse the offer to come quietly.
"I will not assist in the destruction of another ally. Not again. Not intentionally, nor unknowingly."

What a lovely conversation of goals and eliminations planned. Death is on the table, and the cloak covers a little less of the dagger, yet Grom might find it a bit harder to focus on Joker, as his leg is suddenly beginning to go... numb.
From below, a double-helix of red and blue molecule like components now reaches out from the ground as a golden, spear head-like protrusion now cuts into Grom's leg. At the moment of contact, a highly focused corruption begins to spread through him like venom as a large, red eye rises and looks on to its work. Soon, another of these creatures rises from below, and another, and another. In mere seconds, a total of eight creatures are moving in on Grom's position as the one making contact snakes its second arm over, ready to finish the job quickly.
As this happens, another of these creatures rises in front of Joker, soon hovering at eye level and staring at him motionlessly

"There'd be no use in trying to set you up as a spy using our own means. Xion's far too thorough and no doubt your base of operations is a location that operates under his whims. It wouldn't take long for him to probe your systems to discover anything he deems that shouldn't belong unless it had a sufficiently powerful defense up to avoid detection. That is why I will simply let you go after I'm finished with you. No, you'll be his undoing by allowing others to discover how to best deal with him. Isn't that why our new friends have done nothing to you since they gave you your last assignment? Or am I mistaken that you only assaulted Creamland under the direction of another?"
He had deemed Joker as someone who made decisions with a purpose in mind. When he arrived in Netopia before it was to obtain Polaris from Hollow. He didn't fight then but did serve as an obstruction but left when the goal was achieved. Why then had he gone to Creamland and then ended up allied with a group as a result of attacking Creamland? Because the goal that was sought after was dictated by another. They forgave that transaction and allowed him asylum with them. The better choice would have been to eliminate him once he had shown how far he was willing to go for his own goals. Ever since then Joker hadn't received any further orders. Was it because he lost what he was after or because he was already fulfilling his next role? If it were up to him, it would be because he was already serving his agenda just fine. That was why... his leg going numb was the sign that things were proceeding as scheduled here at least from his previous observation, for why he was able to approach Joker the moment he arrived in Netopia again no less.
"Just in time. One of the other things on my list."
There was no hesitation as his arm shifted into a sword that was brought to the numbed leg, severing it immediately. The corruption had already spread through it as it were and allowing it to spread further would be folly, instead having a lance form from the stub to create a peg-leg. A rain cloud would form overhead then, unleashing a hail of meteors and lightning from it at the eight creatures that had been moving in on his position.
"So again, as when we last spoke, I have no need to eliminate you. You'll still be your own undoing. You just need to make yourself useful before you make your exit."

Joker narrowed his gaze, listening to Grom's words as a familiar fury rose up inside of him - how his analytical systems found that one last shred of data, and suddenly connected so many other pieces together.
Nothing is as it seems. It hasn't been so since the very day he stepped atop the ONB's New Life headquarters in Electopia. The very nature of this whole facade had been in the control of their enemies from the beginning, and where Joker had fallen for it once, he had assumed that by now refusing to follow through with their actions, by being released from his meteor, he had foregone all other things they could use at this point to control him.
How wrong he was, though. Grom's words pierced through him like a spear; he had been allowed to act as he pleased if only because they still had use for him. The worst of it all, was that the simplest way to accomplish that was to utilize the very thing that he prized the most . . . his satellite.
He was designed to automatically synchronize with it, and share all information he collected to it, alongside having all information within it accessible to him. Even if perceptually he could not detect his satellite, or even connect to it, the most basic function of his systems would still feed any information he had into it, should it still exist. It was a subroutine he didn't even know how to turn off, he just assumed was no longer working.
It was then that the strange creatures suddenly rose up. The energy around Joker flared to life naturally, exuding a multi-layer defense in a mere second. He jumped back from the abomination, which seemed like it was just studying him, as Grom went on the offensive against them. Joker narrowed his gaze, looking between Grom and the things, unsure of which stance to take, and once again feeling like he was being used - was everything he was seeing, everything he was doing, still being relayed to a satellite, and now he was just a walking camera? The satellite would naturally cross-reference everything he saw, and he was consistently compiling data every time he saw Xion at work, and now, with this?
He was furious at the very thought. Fury coiled through his very being as he held forward his hand and simply exuded raw power, crimson igniting from his palm as he tapped into that reserve of power from within, the crimson generator unleashing massive quantities at once. Huffing in his fury, he focused his ire on Grom, bending the crimson beam around the monster and directly towards Grom.
He would keep his distance from the little mongrels, but, so long as they were also assaulting Grom, he had no desire to remove them. If it were within his power, and he was already intending to fight back against this anyway, then he would simply do his best to remove this threat posthaste.

Grom's assault proves surprisingly effective, as the creatures are quickly enveloped by his attack. It takes very little damage, and soon their forms are completely ripped asunder, leaving only small, glowing orbs that hover where the monsters once were. Among them, the orb that was once the creature that was attempting to infect Grom rises up and dissipates into the sky itself like a fog. A few seconds after this, orbs of fire begin to take form above and rain down like hail, pelting Grom with burning fury with no end in sight as the hail passes through the orbs as if they don't even exist.
Meanwhile, the singular being that had been staring at Joker backs down as the titan fires his beam of pure energy, but while he's distracted another one rises behind him and reaches out its bladed arm, piercing Joker's barrier as if it wasn't even there and making the stretch towards the Crimson Titan himself with a corrupting touch...
...and then both it and the one in front of Joker suddenly shake violently.
Before Joker could retaliate, both of these strange creatures quake in place and suddenly reel back as if they'd been pushed. They hover in place for a moment and stare at Joker, and then turn away from him and begin to drift towards Grom, entirely unaffected by the fiery hail.

The earlier observation proved fruitful after all. Seeing the orb float up and dissipate into the sky before orbs of fire began to fall meant that the orb-like state they were in weren't entirely docile either. An aura would form around him as the hail fell, meeting both Joker's assault and the meteors as they passed through the orbs, looking to Joker next, whose fury wasn't uncalled for nor unexpected. But watching that gave him an answer that he desired all too well as the one in front of Joker and the one that left him both recoiled.
These were a hive. They weren't the mind of the hive, but they moved according to the mind of it and shared a mutual reaction if assailed at once in a particular fashion. And just as he surmised when he first came here, he would get the key to solve that issue yet.
"I knew the moment you didn't choose to escape that you are left without a means to leave this space. And even if you were, I could change that myself. Like I said, you're the answer to a few of my issues. I won't be without that answer for long."
The goal he set for himself here was simple but taxing at the same time. What that was proved to be simple as his arm again shifted and fired seven times at the orbs that were still left behind. What came out of them appeared not to be bullets, but what turned into different containment pods. They each had different specifications, his goal obviously to capture one of them in that state. If that didn't work, he knew of one method of transportation that was more certain to work. But he didn't end his motions there as his other arm turned into a spreader and aimed in Joker's direction and by extension the strange creatures that were approaching from that direction as well before he fired, a series of eight shots being released as a laser, a solid round, a ball of ice, a sphere of fire, a ball of lightning, a sphere of water, and one of darkness and light. The final round of the nine was what was directed more directly at Joker, the weight of this one vastly different than the others as it appeared to be a meteor directly fired from the weapon, but the power of it seemed akin to something that had an abundance of preparation set to it before it began.

He narrowed his gaze as he felt something behind him, turning just in time to try and side-step a slash at his person. Despite the dense barriers and auras that surrounded Joker seemingly on a whim, the attack cut through them without worry, and then immediately halted. His eyes wide, obviously surprised by the intrusion, Joker watched, uncertain, as the things bounded away from him rather than continued their assault.
Shook and obviously perturbed, whatever these things were, they weren't all too pleased with the notion of attacking Joker directly. He wasn't sure what that meant for his efforts, but he did know that, at least for the time being, they weren't a threat to him. Whatever they were, they also shared sensory systems, as the entire collective was affected by whatever repulsed them from him.
He couldn't focus on that, however, as he turned his attention towards Grom. Grom was on the offensive, now, both trying to capture the hordelings and assault him. Joker was not one to waver, holding up a hand as reality swirled at his behest. Crystallizing into a multi-layered unyielding barrier, the meteor, no matter how strong it may have been, crashed against the Perfected Reality and entirely dissipated from view.
The other shots were absorbed by the multitudes of auras and barriers that surrounded him otherwise, Joker storehousing his power in preparation for an onslaught. It was true, by this point, that he could've secured a way out; but if Grom was already on his heels, then the most he could do was fight against the NIA's leader, no matter how dangerous an endeavor it may be. He remembered watching him at work against Sirius, and knew that the NIA leader was nothing to scoff at.
Still, he would not be a push over, himself. Rising up to his full height, Joker unleashed a torrent of crimson energy from his body, preparing for the battle to come. As his power surged, he accessed the residual data that he had stored up from the satellite server, condensing crimson into a dense pocket and reshaping it into a set of bombs, the generator from within multiplying the efforts of his input as usual.
Charing energy, he kneeled back on his heels and unleashed a massive stream of energy forward, causing crimson to streak across the battlefield towards Grom. As that laser surged forward, he dashed through it, wrapping space around his palm and attempting to shove the incredible energy directly into Grom's chest, space collapsing at his command with Grom at its epicenter.

Grom's attempt to encapsulate the glowing orbs seems successful, as his barriers manage to form around them. However, the orbs then slowly drift towards the ground, where they fade away. Left in the wake of this onslaught, only the being that had been staring at Joker remains, having faded into the ground as well. Silently, it rises from the ground again and stares at Grom before firing off a single red bullet from its gaze while slowly drifting in Grom's direction.Field Effect:N̽̂͐̂͑̏̇͛҉̢̕͠͝͏̸̨̜̜͈̤͙͓̼̳į̽̓̔͂̃ͦͣ̇͟҉̵̢̦͔̯̲̞̣͎͕̕͝͝ ̏ͤ͂ͮ̈́̿͒̌͏̷̸̵̶̴̧̢͉̞̰͔̘͚̥ͅh̶̸̡̢̹̰̣̭̘̰̺̦̀͂ͣͮ̉̅ͩ̈́͘͟͞͝t̷̷̛͈͚̱͚̺̩̦̻͛̃ͤͮͫ̈́ͤͫ͟͟͠͞͡ ͂͆ͤ̓̑̒ͫ̓͞͏̵̨̨̜̪̞̩̹̰̳̣́͜͡a̵̵̢̨̨̧̎̃̄̊ͤ̇̓̽̕҉̯͍̥̞̘̦̮̺r̨̐̉̃ͨͬ͋͛̇̀̕͜͡͞͏̤̦̥͎͇͇̬̖͡ ̢̡͙̟͍͙̠̥̥̫ͫ̅ͧͫ̌̑̓̆́͘̕̕͢͡F̷̵̧̨͙̳͇͉̳̱̗̺͐́̐̀ͦ̆̊͊̀͘͢͝i̶̷̢̛̻̻̼͔̰̙̥͌͒̅͛̀ͮͩͧ͘͢͠͡ͅ ̎͂͒̍͑ͩ̆̑͡͝҉̶̛̟͚̩͓̹̤̞̠̕͢͠ẻ̡̨̂̊̂͗ͭ̈́̚̕͝͏̨͘҉̱̝͕̰̼͍̙̼ - Every turn, 3 attacks with damage equal to the highest damage attack that the target used are launched against the opponent with the effects "Breaks Shields, Undodgable, Attacks All"

As he thought, capturing them and keeping them in captivity would be trickier than something so basic. Then he supposed the next best option would be the one that he considered from the beginning. He had the resources to see it done, whether they liked it or not. For now, it was a matter of trampling Joker first before the intervention arrived. He had been absent to make sure that once Joker returned, the second intervention wouldn't be so timely. Netopia simply wasn't the best place for them to engage him at. He had Joker right where he wanted him as soon as he defended his attacks with the Perfected Reality. He would drag the leg along and slide past the laser and under the encroaching Joker's arm to push it aside as the energy from the collapse would miss, a rock cube spawning in the way of the laser fired by the unknown creature.
He would tell Joker that he was something of a bad rerun, but that would be telling him something that no doubt another had told him already.
His other arm would shift then, enlarging into a fist as a sword came forth from it as well before he launched it into Joker's stomach. Not unlike what he had just experienced, he would pass clean through the defense that the other attacks would not to strike a direct blow to the mammoth of a Navi. His defensive paradigm was a legacy left behind by another. Even if that legacy hadn't been dismantled by the others, his likewise wasn't of the same level as that barrier. It meant that even the less exaggerated tools created as answers to that puppeteer's whims would suffice to deal with the fledgling who had yet to blossom into something of his own standing. The bombs that the Crimson Titan left behind would be used to interact with the continued threat as he would seek to do his next attempt when it approached further.

As Grom's response to his own assault began, Joker watched the much smaller Navi move with grace and finesse, as the fist enlarged and expanded, and a sword passed through his defensive measures and against his body.
What Grom failed to account for, however, as the sword struck against Joker's body, was the durable material he was made from. His body hardened and condensed at its most fragile point, as the sword struck against him and Joker was sent reeling back, battered but not beaten. He narrowed his gaze at Grom, realizing that Grom was not intending to immobilize him, but, rather, eliminate him entirely.
With this in mind, Joker left no opportunity for Grom, raising up one hand and collecting a massive amount of crimson energy. He slammed his fist into the ground, the crimson energy amassing from his palm and shooting upward, causing the Network to be stormed by an unending fall of Gigaton Buildings upon Grom from above and jutting up from below.
For another note, however, if Grom was relying on Joker to follow his usual paradigm, then he would at least serve well to break his pride, here. Survival of the fittest wasn't a necessary ideal to uphold, anymore, and he had to get that through his skull, eventually.
He attempted composing an email mentally to send to Xion and Warrior, again:
Topic: Re: Rendezvous Sender: Joker Recipient: Xion, Warrior Message: I have gotten to Netopia with complications. Some sort of infectious creature is present, and Grom is attempting to capture me. Help more than likely necessary, but caution advised - the creatures specialize in infecting targets, and bypassing defenses without worry.

The unknown creature ignores everything happening on the battlefield and continues to drift towards Grom, but is caught up in the blast when Joker's mine explodes. In its wake is left a small, glowing orb that flashes and disappears, melding with the data around itself. At this action, Grom's Rock Cubes suddenly shift to strange, glitched cubes that refuse to do his bidding. And just behind these strange, new cubes, another two eyes rise from the ground and begin to drift towards their target.

His desired result was accomplished. Joker was put in peril, but not enough that he would lose his edge or confidence. Just enough to tilt him toward his other options, but enough for Joker to assume that rather than immobilize he sought to eliminate him despite the conversation earlier, that Grom was in a desperate enough predicament to have to adjust his plans. This would fall in line with why he had chosen a Rock Cube specifically earlier as the cubes would mutate into something new entirely, the buildings beginning their descent upon him. Time and time again they would fall upon him... until something was amiss. Joker would notice it as the very things that were hounding Grom were suddenly right beside him. And what had constantly been struck down with no chance for an action was in fact the newly defined cubes from the nightmarish effects taking place. Their newfound structure made them perfect targets, a target that Joker had struck time and again. But then where was the man that he was looking for? Over where the ones who had slowly been drifting toward him were at instead as his arm would again begin to adjust, this time to a shape Joker should be familiar with but not knowing its true effects.
Grom's arm changed to an unceremonious buster of its own. For all its show it was more or less just a normal buster. Last time it was unveiled the target had been Feint, revealing nothing more than the usual as a result. Now that the first deed was accomplished, immobilizing the target was in the cards. He would aim the weapon and fire at Joker as the bomb shell would be sent hurtling toward him, knowing that the result would speak for itself soon enough. If Joker surmounted the odds, then he would simply have to raise the stakes, not that he expected much else to present itself as a problem for this goal.
Defense:
Anti-Pierce used. Time Bomb hits all, Grom's Unavoidable Damage recovered. Rock Cube become Nightmare Cubes.
Location Defined In the domain that he controls, one's location is always known and defined. Sometimes at the will of the NIA itself. Effects: Can be used when conditions are fulfilled. When fulfilled, can redirect attacks to summoned entities and HP defenses regardless of effects. Negative effects of NIA Shift are negated if so. Passive
Dominating Presence and Gigaton Buildings directed to Nightmare Cube. Analysis Failures directed to Dread Joker via Crimson Cloud.
Set:
NIA Shift. To adjust and decimate in the face of adversity. Effects: When used, can select one target. That target's attacks are imbued with one effect of another attack if that attack is able, ignoring requirements of the attack used to imbue it. User cannot attack or charge for a turn for each time this skill is used. Uses: 4
Used twice. Blitz Sword to Blaster Shell.
Offense:
Blaster Shell S-Range Seeking Element A combination of a bomb and a shotgun unleashed at a target to unleash a powerful attack. Base Damage: 7,000 Seeking Damage: 70,000 Effects: Cuts Auras, Seeking Damage bonus applies at 4x potency to this attack. Ignores HP Defenses. If Recollected Dismantling is unused for a turn, Cuts Undershirts.

Joker watched as Grom used his own mastery of the space to his advantage, and narrowed his gaze at the display of absolute control. To go against a network administrator was definitely difficult; there was nothing in this space that Grom didn't have control of, including the attacks unleashed in it.
To say that it concerned him was an understatement, but he could only do what he had left within him. As the buster shot was unleashed, Joker raised one hand and surged his power, causing space to distort as he distorted it and sent it far enough back that it would take longer for it to reach him. As it circled back, he continued his hold on space, and twisted it; each of the buildings that were redirected at the nightmares were pulled, multiplied, and focused, as gravity shifted to his own designs. They all came back, rocketing from every which direction, as he held onto the singularity in his hand forcing it all together.

The creatures seem to pay Grom's show of power no heed, continuing to mindlessly drift in his direction while firing bullets of energy until they're annihilated by the onslaught. With their deletion, the strange beings transform into orbs of energy and disappear into the ground. In their wake, the area around Grom and Joker glitches, and soon a strong wind begins to blow furiously against Grom, and with it an acidic rain falls, burning away at his body slowly but surely. And amid the chaos, two more of the beings now rise from the ground and float towards Grom, still fixated on him for reasons yet unknown.
