Time passed endlessly. For some, time made them stronger. Others, Time made them forget. Then there were those who could not escape the past. Some thought they had too much time, where as others never felt like they had enough. Time was always being measured, by one facet or another. And to the lone navi in the room, he felt several facets at once. He felt like he never had enough time. That events were moving so fast. Time always had felt like his enemy. Whenever there was a crisis, he was never strong enough to stand up to the challenge. Recently, he had been beaten down several times, back to back. Once in a humiliating defeat as well. The lone navi marched towards what he had heard was the remains of the old faction he helped establish. It was rainy, and his hood was up, a baby candevil virus hiding from the rain under the hood. Although the other two leaders had done way more than he had, he had always been eager to help them. His best friends... His brothers in a way.
Family. A word Merrill had not associated with in what felt like an eternity. Unfortunately, after the events at the beach, Merrill had lost faith in that word. He had lost it all, for the 3rd time. Healer and Defender slain. His new friend Xylia slain by Warrior. And the perpetrator of the whole thing vanished without a trace. There was no confirmation that they had defeated him. He wandered, lost, alone and confused. He fought battles in rage. Tempted Fate... Found an abandoned baby virus and was caring for the little thing. He hid himself away, to recover after his previous beatings. To Challenger, and to Rosso, whose flames burned him and caused him to lose control again. He healed, and began the long slog at training when the email came in from Mirror, whom had vanished so long ago. Requesting him to meet at the old hall again.
"Back to when things were easier... A time... despite the chaos of the world, there were many laughs. Smiles... Bonds being formed. Maybe this is what I need. What we need."
He spoke quietly, loud enough for Lumena to hear. the virus wiggled a bit. The wind began to pick up as they marched.
"One time, I was feeling particularly thrifty, and challenged Mirror..."
Several years ago...
Merrill stood, in one of the new training rooms in the facility. He tested the settings of the machine, in an attempt to create a balance. The room had a specialized custom ceiling, meant to mirror the effects of dawn or dusk. A place where light refracted off of almost every surface. the ceiling was beautiful, one side having the sun set, the other, the moon rising. The sky towards the center was dark enough to see stars, which made it feel as if it was a realistic outside setting at this particular time. He had custom built this room as a surprise for Mirror. He also wanted to be the first to battle Mirror in the room. He had accidently blinded himself momentarily when testing firing a bunch of blasts around the room, the light screwing with how the energy refracted, and he took a shot of his own blast to the face. He almost laughed at himself, looking back. He waited, arms crossed, to surprise his friend, and his co-leader.
