<...Sector 3, evacuation route clear. All personnel, proceed to the rally point.>
For every epic battle where heroes clash with the forces of evil, a red carpet must be laid out, a clear battlefield with minimal distractions or collateral risk. Somebody has to do the cleaning, and remove bystanders or other innocents from the line of fire before the fireworks start. This is the duty that has fallen to the NIA's latest collaborator - word of a system breach at the NIA Headquarters Server spread quickly through their comms network, followed by an evacuation order and an all-points SOS. Combat-ready Navis on-site were already busy engaging hostiles within, leaving the collateral damage control to field agents now returning to base.
Such has been the duty of the steel-clad behemoth who, for the last several minutes, has been leading, escorting, and in some cases outright dragging evacuees and stragglers from the NIA facilities. The breach has caused numerous lapses in local security, and while the source of all the hubbub hasn't left the quarantined sector where the whole mess started, the area is now host to wandering Virus mobs and cascading system errors that complicate what would otherwise be a simple "Move Subject A to Exit B" job. The Eidolon-8 is definitely pulling its weight here, as is its gelatinous, glass-skinned wearer. In-between barking orders, Thrash has found itself blasting away rubble, fending off marauding Viruses, and in some cases carrying wounded or otherwise immobilized Navis and Programs through a veritable gauntlet of hazards...
<Operations team, do we have a headcount on the evacuees so far?>
The NIA Isolator that now serves as insignia and communicator for the Daemon has seen its share of use as well today, allowing coordination with other agents on rescue and cleanup duty. And now, with another sector clear, it is once again time to wait for a situation update and additional orders...

The NIA had seen a fair share of troubles outside of the sudden base invasion, courtesy of a hasty member. The agents who had been evacuating others had also eventually needed to be called up for the devastating situation at Rammount, but not all of them as it had natural defenders too. Plus calling of their agents to one location with everything happening was far from ideal. Those agents still unfortunately met a terrible destination when they were simply assaulted out of nowhere by Genesis. Which then led up to this home invasion. Thrash probably knew nothing of these events, which was helpful as it helped boost their morale to see someone still so able and ready to proceed like the gelatinous wearer was. But it was around this evacuation that Thrash would see exactly what had happened outside of the NIA Headquarters. It was like some sort of wave tore clean through Netopia. A field of ash that expanded as far as the eye could see. In some areas it was worse than others. And in one area especially it felt nightmarish. In fact, they could see it from here given how relevant it was in Netopia.
"We have a count over three hundred now, but others have not been so fortunate. Not to mention our map's been a bit permanently changed as well."
All of the castles were gone. The castle network was wiped off the map, along with the mountains and where Rammount once stood. The entire network could be accessed, but the pandaemonium could be felt all the way from here. Something had gone horribly wrong across Netopia as a whole in the timespan of this attack and the starting process of the evacuation that was being done all over. Proof of the devastating power held by the people that others did consider having to be put down rather than being allowed to roam freely. Because they would decide to use that power, no matter who was in the way. And red carpet or not, it would lay waste to everything until they were satisfied or had to stop for the time being. Everyone that was at Rammount or even near it had been wiped off the map which then spread out across various directions of Netopia, leaving the network of the country itself rocky, but not as devastated as the ground zero. It had even almost reached out here, stopping short just a bit as some of the outside wasn't filled with lively grass or terrain, but merely ashen wastes. It had caused even the marauding viruses to be divided in self-preservation or continuing on as a virus should.

Having spent the majority of the evacuation mission within the NIA facilities themselves, this is the first time Thrash has had a chance to glance out into the rest of the network. The scorched ashen wastes, flattened and cratered desolation where once stood rolling hills and towering fortresses... Thrash is no stranger to this sort of devastation, having only been born a year after the infamous Yumland Genocide and the Second Alpha Outbreak. In fact, the Daemon has wreaked similar havoc in its heyday, albeit on a much smaller and more contained scale. A peculiar sense of nostalgia weaves its way through the initial shock and horror of the spectacle... but a weapon's duty is to the mission, not sentimentality.
<... This is going to be awkward without a place to relocate the evacuees to. Does the NIA still have a shelter point to move to, or did that get wiped out with the rest of the network?>
This could be very problematic - if there isn't a safe haven left to move to in Netopia's network, this evacuation has already failed - no international network would possibly be willing to risk a connection that the cause of this devastation could spread through. The only other solution would be to temporarily connect an isolated server to the network to extract the escapees... that would require human intervention, however - and communication with the outside world has been spotty at best so far. Thrash isn't even sure if the NIA HAS any human Operators amongst its staff...

There was a pause, the agent likely investigating what Thrash had asked for. Their locations were all rather damaged in this wide-scale madness. But there were two that had managed to come out unscathed. Honestly the map was strange. A large mass of it appeared to be completely missing rather than simply damaged like everything else. Not so strange when your eyes showed you it was literally wiped off the map though.
"There are two points, one where Captain Grom is stationed and one of our more recent constructions. But that would take a while. Ideally, we should contact our operators and have them create a temporary haven for them, as best they can anyway. Communication might be troublesome for a time however."
It managed to confirm that they did in fact have human operators in the NIA. They were preoccupied with trying to figure things out on their end for what in the world happened in Netopia already. Plus information that Vanguard had provided them had sent some agents out, but not enough to be detrimental and in a covert fashion. Communication however was spotty, and had worsened with this recent outburst. But in a stroke of luck or a sort of miracle, through the NIA Isolator did the agents get a report from their human benefactors. Some of the message didn't get through, but what did was important enough.
<---We finished an isolated server in the chance that things turned for the worse. You can access it by leading them closer to Limmous. And--->
The connection had fallen off again. But it at least had an access point, though a somewhat distant one. No doubt they would be beset upon on their way there by the viruses that were still hostile and using this situation to their advantage. It meant they would have to put up their best resistance, as escorting the evacuated was their mission now. And Thrash would have noticed it too earlier in some of the viruses that she put down. There were a few mutated strains, a bit different than the normal viruses.
"...Well, we have an out and the others are about finished. Are you ready to move out now?"

<...A single access point to sanctuary. Pretty ideal conditions for an ambush.>
Having been employed in the smuggling trade long ago, Thrash is no stranger to escorting cargo or personnel across long distances. However, those runs tended to use back-roads and secondary routes to their destination, rather than taking the main road straight there. Here, there WAS no primary route, or even a map to speak of - just a destination, and whatever may lie between Point A and Point B. If someone wanted to take a swing at the NIA now, all they would have to do is wait at the goal posts - no matter what path the caravan took, they'd run into trouble eventually. Perhaps such thoughts were nothing more than paranoia, but better to be safe than sorry...
<...If we have any able-bodied Recon specialists available, get them to scout out the extraction site ahead of the main group. They can take the straight road there - everyone else, set a course around the perimeter of Limmous and make your approach from the opposite flank. In the likely event that somebody decides this would be a good time and place to take a bite out of the NIA, the scouts will see the ambush first and signal us - and if we're lucky, the enemy will be on the wrong side of the town to intercept us by the time we're there.>
The Daemon's huge fingers flex in anticipation, accompanied by a faint cracking noise and several splinters of glass-like shards falling to the ground. The smell of blood is in the air, and scavengers are no doubt already circling, waiting for their chance to strike... so long as Thrash remains vigilant, they will never get close enough to even try.
<Move out once all preparations are in order. We don't want to be out in the open for longer than we have to - ration recovery programs to the wounded as needed, they'll need to be able to scramble if things get dicey out there.>

It was a sound plan of approach and certainly showed Thrash's experience at this. So as Thrash finished, they passed the orders along and the Recon Specialists were ready. After that was the final preparations and rationing out the recovery programs. While they weren't the best right now, it was still reassuring to have it than not. And so they made to move forward, both directly and a bit more indirectly.
Moving forward, there was a fair share of rabid viruses. But they weren't nothing the Daemon couldn't handle with exceptional ease. At least for a while. As they progressed forward there were two viruses that were mutated strains, perhaps because of what was happening here. But what was ordinarily a Brute and a Tin Hawk were different now. The Brute had what appeared to be a mane of sorts, the same color as its flames while the Tin Hawk was a bit more red in color. At first they were at each other's throats, but had stopped when they felt others nearby and started heading in their direction. One approaching quickly by the ground, the other by the air. They had made considerable progress towards their destination, but had a bit of a sturdier roadblock now.

< ...Hold.> The caravan guardian raises a hand into the air, indicating a complete stop. While an atmosphere of dread has permeated the entire trip up to this point, never before has it felt so intense. Thrash now visibly bristles and shudders as its glaring eyes focus upon the incoming threats... advanced Viruses, DarkGuardian-class. A staple in Nebula's invasion forces back in the old days, and an uncommon-at-best threat on the Net since feral populations took root in its darker corners. And yet, something is vastly different about these monsters that now make their rapid, steady approach - something that reignites the same wild spark within the Daemon as when it set eyes upon the carnage that started this whole mess. A feeling of overwhelming pressure it hasn't felt so strongly since her involvement with the Cult. Nostalgia briefly clouds Thrash's vision, memories of the UnderNet flooding back...< ...All guns, stay locked on the flyer. These two might end up ignoring us like that last pack, but if they don't, that's the one that will breach the defensive line the fastest. Concentrate fire the moment it shows any sign of hostility... the one on the ground won't get past me.> Jumping the gun and opening fire early would be a mistake; energy and stamina are at a premium, and too many pointless skirmishes would wear out the caravan's defenders in short order. And there is something very much off about these Viruses - even from this distance, Thrash's eyes catch glimpses of the odd mutations that have taken hold upon these two. Perhaps Nightshade was right after all - and in that case, these entities were holy creatures blessed by a primal power. And the only respectful way to meet such power is to challenge it head-on. The Daemon takes a lumbering step forward, gradually allowing its serpentine tail to take over locomotion - it now slithers forward, clawed feet raised in the air and tipped with saw-bladed glass talons that could rend a Floshell apart in a matter of seconds. Its larger, crushing hands are held aloft in a mantis-style stance, creating a four-point grid of attack and defense in preparation for the charging monsters ahead. When the DarkGuardians draw into range, they will find themselves faced with a fellow beast, a fierce combatant just as eager for the hunt as they...Simple Battle Interface v0.06a
Stats-To-RP Effect Infodump: Petrifying Glare (as derived from Ice Lv4 Passive Effect and Sand Special Property: Slow
Thrash begins any battle, at any range, with a full-force glare from the numerous red eyes covering its armor. As this happens, the surrounding atmosphere is quickly irradiated with a wave of DarkPower, channeling an aura of sheer dread and intimidation. For the first two turns of battle, all enemies are faced with a sensation of overwhelming fear and pressure, and may hesitate or miscalculate their first few attacks. Weaker enemies may be completely petrified during this time.
Once every five turns, Thrash may focus this effect upon a single target of choice - this variation is far less intense than the initial wave, but can be unleashed at any time.

They held their ground, training their weapons on the bird. And just as Thrash anticipated, it had planned to dart for the ones that it considered less formidable after sizing up its targets. Another beast like itself, or the ones with weapons. But as it approached it got touched by the overwhelming pressure that was being unleashed from Thrash's eyes. While the hawk had been effected and as such ceased its charge into a somewhat circular motion to reevaluate its approach, it was fairly clear that the brute had not been. It didn't slow down or act sluggish at all, the DarkGuardian opening its mouth and unleashing a wave of flames at its fellow beast.

And so the fierce melee begins. All at once, the Daemon's networked Cores begin processing and analyzing data viewed from its many eyes, calculating the most efficient angle of approach. While her general demeanor and favored approach to battle is both primal and bestial, one who has observed or spoken with Thrash for any length of time immediately recognizes the cunning mind behind the facade, a combination of brute force and lethal precision. The TinHawk has hesitated in its approach, but the BigBrute is as unflappable and determined as any of its kin - it will not allow itself to be stopped by anything short of its own uncontested defeat.
So be it.Simple Battle Interface v0.06a
Stats-To-RP Effect Infodump: Null and Void (as derived from the Triune Avoid Skill of the same name.
Similar in function to the infamous "Shadow" technique, this classical Darkloid technique serves as both defense and intimidation. Thrash charges the surface of her armor with DarkPower and turns her own body into an unstable conduit into the DarkGalaxy itself for a brief moment. During this time, any attack that would strike her simply passes into the empty void, vanishing into its depths without coming out through the other side. Avoids an attack without fail - Attack energy may be spent to lengthen the duration of the effect. As the hulking hellhound lets loose its searing crimson flames, Thrash's Eidolon armor suddenly takes on a blackish hue, its chrome-polished surface now taking on a texture and sheen resembling a black, star-sprinkled void. It is into this void that the inferno finds itself passing into, never reaching past their initial target. The infernal glare subsides as the BigBrute's blazing breath dies out, and the Daemon still sits upon its coiled tail amidst the scorched earth, completely unscathed...GYOOOWR!!!Such is the war cry that pierces and shakes the air itself, a deafening, bellowing shriek unfiltered by the speech synthesizer that normally comprises the Daemon's spoken voice. The tip of its tail flicks, and suddenly the entire coiled mass decompresses and launches Thrash's heavily-armored mass straight for the BigBrute, arms and feet raised with jagged crystal edges forming upon the tips of each curved talon!Simple Battle Interface v0.06a
Stats-To-RP Effect Infodump: Crystal Cleavers (as derived from the C-Range Ice Element Attack of the same name.
Thrash's gelatinous arms and feet do not have traditional 'claws' - instead, an entire finger/toe will harden its surface into a jagged mass of dark crystal, which is then used to slash and tear at the enemy. These crude, serrated spikes are heavy, rigid, and sharp... but also extremely brittle, shattering almost immediately upon digging into the victim. Fortunately, thanks to the mechanism behind the attack, the claws simply regrow just as quickly as they are broken, resulting in no loss of time or offensive pressure during a full-out assault. Thrash's unique combat stance allows her legs to be used as a second set of arms while attacking, allowing for a rapid onslaught of heavy strikes at twice the rate of a standard melee specialist Navi. (as derived from 7 Attack Slots on odd turns / 6 on even turns) And with that, Thrash bears down upon the DarkGuardian and begins viciously pummeling it with all four limbs, ripping and tearing and smashing with vicious glee, shards of shattered purple-black glass flying about after each strike whether it hits or not! A fair start, and one that might make the BigBrute think twice before pressing its advance...

As Thrash made her approach at the BigBrute, it clenched its teeth again and waited for the lunge to be at its apex. And then it opened its mouth again as Thrash would bear down upon it, unleashing an even greater series of waves than the last one. It had chosen a simple tactic for the approach of force against force: an endurance test. It would bear down with its flame that was growing even stronger at an abnormal rate compared to a normal variant of itself while being cut by the claws in rapid succession.
The mutated TinHawk was going to make its approach then, planning to get its own strikes in on Thrash while she was preoccupied now that the glare wasn't against it. But that was when the agents began to open fire in unison, a timed assault when it had decided its prey and taken its eyes off of them. It managed to evade some of the fire, but started to be hit and clipped by the large and concentrated spread of shots. It started to manuever to get in a better position to engage, but one of the agents had used the covering fire to get closer, tossing a bomb up from under it that exploded into it, a sort of adhesive coating its wings as a result as it was forced to the ground for a time. And as it landed several time bombs spawned next to it, the timer clocking out as they all detonated on the TinHawk in tandem with the opening that Thrash had created simply from the opening move for them.

Steel, fire, and darkness-stained crystal clash in a cataclysmic cacophany, punctuated by the furious howls of the feral combatants as they pour their full efforts and attention into obliterating one another, atom by atom. Raw beastly might versus whirling, shredding fury, locked in a bloody battle to the death... at least, that is how it starts. For the DarkPower is a selfish force whose highest priority is self-preservation, and while the first blast of flame visibly scorches and warps the surface of the Eidolon-8's thick plating, the black burn quickly deepens into the inky darkness of the starry void once again. Thrash is quick to take advantage of this brief invulnerable period to change tactics, and put a stop to the source of the inferno - breaking off from her assault, the Daemon springs forth to land atop the BigBrute's back, her metal-shod tail whipping about and slipping behind the spines of the beast's mane to wrap around its neck!Simple Battle Interface v0.06a
Stats-To-RP Effect Infodump: Ripsaw Lash (as derived from the Sand-Element S-Range Attack of the same name.
A ranged grapple attack, making use of Thrash's fluid form to entangle the foe - usually using the Daemon's tail. Once secured, the entrapping limb sprouts row upon row of tiny crystal spikes - from there onward, every slight movement of the tendril will cause these wicked saw-teeth to dig into the victim's body, creating horrific wounds in the process. Once a grapple has been established, Thrash may attack repeatedly by sawing the spines back and forth rapidly to create larger, deeper wounds. From here on out, Thrash now attempts to strangle the BigBrute with her tail, jagged glass spikes sprouting from the gaps in-between the metal segments that protect it and digging into the Virus' neck - once a hold is established, this vorpal whip-saw oscilates back and forth while gradually tightening, and threatens to decapitate the beast if it doesn't choke out both its flames and breath first!

As she moved to wrap around it, it had ceased spewing the flame forward thanks to the strangle hold she now had on it. It would likely be a matter of time in order for her to finish it off now. But it started to spew the flames out of its mane and engulfing itself now with Thrash on top of it. These flames burned hotter and stronger than before again at an immense rate, still following the approach of an endurance test. With the Hawk pinned down and ultimately outnumbered by the other agents, it left the Brute to fend for itself with Thrash and the War Daemon to tend to the Brute herself. Some of the other agents were checking out the situation there as well, seeing if Thrash would need assistance or if the hold it was in would be seen through to its fruition.

And so, it is an endurance match that the BigBrute gets, a pure damage race between fire and force. Both sides seem to have at least one sort of upper hand to bring to the table - while the modified Virus has definitely taken more punishment than any of its lesser kin would ever have been able to before yielding, the War Daemon has the defensive upper hand in both her controlled DarkPower phase-shifts and the raw armor strength of the Eidolon-8. However, these defensive measures were designed to deal with concentrated light attacks and single heavy strikes - not an endless stream of raw power.
And yet, this remains an ideal set of circumstances for the skirmish. The NIA were able to fend for themselves with the heavy hitter of the Virus duo incapacitated; and even now, the BigBrute is focusing on a single fighter rather than using its flame breath's devastating crowd control power to simply annihilate as many Navis as it can in one blast. As long as Thrash can maintain this power struggle, everyone else remains safe and unscathed as long as they don't do anything to interrupt or draw attention to themselves. The only question is how much more of this the Daemon will need to endure before the brute falls... indeed, the Eidolon-8's heavy plating is starting to twist and warp from the intense heat, its wrought iron plates glowing a bright orange as its DarkPower-bolstered integrity struggles to keep up with the onslaught of the inferno. Even the thorn-saw tail that maintains its grip around the BigBrute's neck is starting to wilt against the extreme temperatures, and the Daemon's offensive pressure dips ever so slightly...WARNING: Unknown energy spike detected in main beam emitter array. Primary weapon systems at 133% overcharge - vent at earliest possible opportunity to prevent meltdown!Something is very wrong... anything capable of sensing DarkPower, a DarkGuardian-class Virus included, can feel something stirring in the evil-soaked atmosphere. What was once an occasional pulse of DarkPower has suddenly intensified, concentrated into something beyond a mere temporary Shadow. Even as the grip of the Daemon's tail begins to loosen under the pressure of the armor's mechanical failure, what energy has been lost from the power struggle appears to be focusing, compressing...
And most frighteningly of all, not even Thrash herself understands what is transpiring... Charge Level: 33% (1.5x Darklight Force Multiplier)

Both viruses had felt the sudden change then. One was still under the constant fire of the agents that had it locked down in some sort of paralysis from another of the weapons they discharged against it, keeping it suppressed as it wouldn't last much longer. While the BigBrute was steadily beginning to weaken the damage to itself from the tail that was melting, it had instead become a different problem. There was some sort of change that was happening with the War Daemon that it was fighting, one that it didn't know about.
It didn't have a way to know about it and responded in the best way that it could: trying to eliminate the threat faster than before. The fire's intensity increased yet again, trying to end this before whatever Thrash was preparing could reach its completion, completely focused on her instead of the others who maintained their distance.

It is by this point that Thrash is beginning to seriously consider taking a step back and re-evaluating her approach to this confrontation. Going in, it all seemed so clean-cut; divide and conquer, have the crew take on the one who would be impossible to barricade while she handled the big land-bound walking artillery who could otherwise obliterate the lot of them in a single blast. And until now, that plan was working... however, the Daemon seems to have vastly underestimated the war of attrition that would need to be fought to hammer this strategy home. Already, this mutated Virus has taken a level of punishment that would've deleted two standard BigBrutes outright (with a little left over to start chewing through a third), and is showing no signs that it is even wounded or tired. The TinHawk is also still circling, and while the NIA forces seem to be holding it at bay for the time being, the phalanx is eventually going to crumble if the bird can take anywhere near as much of a beating as the brute. Thrash has options to speed up the fight if need be, and has been careful to not overexert herself - the Eidolon-8 is there to take the damage on her behalf, like any good suit of armor should - but it is presently impossible to tell just how much in the way of time and resources would need to be sunk into the venture just to fell ONE of these two, let alone deal with the second one when it inevitably circles back to finish the job. The comparisons to an endurance match now take on a brutal and ironic new meaning...ARMOR INTEGRITY CRITICAL!< Tch...!> Welp, no sense in beating around the bush with this - the heat's getting pretty intense, and half-arsed damage negation coupled with sheer armor protection isn't going to cut it. Thrash has no choice but to kick in the Shadow module to full output mode, an act that would temporarily burn it out and prevent additional usage for a while (Read: Use up all Uses of the Avoid Skill). The molten surface of the Eidolon-8 once again takes on that black, starry sheen, this time maintaining it as the flames billowing forth from the BigBrute's mane intensify. Even with this total protection, the damage has already been done - droplets of melted metal are sloughing off of the surface, the shape of the frame has warped and twisted from the heat... and visible cracks can now be seen in the surface leaking a blinding purple light through the glossy void...Eidolon-8 Structural Integrity compromised - vent weapon systems immediately to avert system failure.Oh right, and then there's THAT. The horrific burning pressure building up within the Daemon's power cores, a sensation that has been gradually increasing ever since... when, exactly? Earlier than the start of this fight, though it has certainly accelerated since then. Somewhere around the time that Thrash set foot upon Netopian soil? Well, whatever it is, it has now reached a point where it can no longer be ignored - and in fact, is literally threatening to burst forth with equal parts dramatic violence and intensity... perhaps this mystery factor is what Thrash needs to turn the tables here? What better way to scrub out a particularly stubborn stain than to turn the fire hose upon it?< Rrr... I guess it's now or never!> With that, the Daemon's tail releases its grip on the BigBrute's neck, the spines breaking off inside the wounds they've dug into the beast's hide. The segmented metal shell has practically fused together from the heat, cracking and groaning with every stiff, shuddering attempt to move it. But now there's nothing anchoring the combatants together, a factor that may have posed a problem if the kickback on this reaction turns out to be stronger than anticipated. Still at point-blank range, the central eye on Thrash's torso opens its outer hatch, the purple glow now flooding out from it...*BWOOOOOOM!!!*Simple Battle Interface v0.06a
Stats-To-RP Effect Infodump: Omega Twin Blazers "Supremacy V" (as derived from the Fire-Element S-Range Hyper Attack of the same name.
An unsuccessful attempt to scan the image data of her NIA captors using her acolyte as a medium has resulted in a seed of corrupt data being planted in Thrash's weapon systems. Under pressure of battle, subjected to the Cybeast-bolstered flames of a Zoanoroid DarkGuardian, this tiny mote of "purified" DarkPower has ignited into a white-hot ember that now feeds upon the wicked energies that it has been planted within. Given time, it will accumulate every possible scrap of unused energy during a battle, building up with every missed or passed-up opportunity to attack, every ounce of held-back strength, and then consumes all of that built-up power as a pair of mighty Darklight flames that painfully obliterate their target down to the tiniest atom! The force of the ensuing discharge shatters both the lens over the eye, AND the framework of the hatch surrounding it. A tiny, yet intense bright purple flame, hotter than even the BigBrute's own weaponized plumes, now burns within the socket, rapidly growing and expanding into an inferno. The wave of scarlet-lavender fire stretches upwards and outwards, splitting into two individual trails tipped with what appear to be clawed hands that rise into the sky... before balling into a pair of blazing fists, and descending upon the BigBrute to deal judgement and total destruction!
