The Lab (Unless you know where it is, no entry.) (The door is encrypted. Only a select few know the code)
Tucked within the upper echelons of the Saul Kada network behind a reenforced door lies this isolated facility. Just past the door lay a flight of stairs that dip down into the main area. It's glows from the ground up in a green hue. Giving the entire facility a very ominous feel.
While not massive like the OEL's this complex is large enough to house any and all experiments a lone researcher could desire. The walls are carved out of the mountain its built into with various wires and cables protruding out in an organized manner and either running along the floor into a machine or stringing along the wall before receding back.
The floor is tiled, large squares of ash grey with the lining between each tile being illuminated in leaf green that breathes neon. The machines themselves are of a varied assortment ranging from big glass tubes, small square boxes that hum and flicker in complex manners.
Tucked between machines and in various spots of the lab are large tables. Some cluttered with stationary and others neat and organized. There are no chairs.

Slypner *click, tsss* the door shuts and seals behind the two, but Slypner ventures down the wide stairs first. Raising his eyebrow as he glances to one of the large screens on one of the machines. The screen displays a string of complex coding and numbers that rather quickly trickled up the screen as more coding appeared. If any one part of src really looked, and could understand, it could be discerned that it was the compiling of a navi.
Hrm. the mumble was even more muffled under the light hum of the energy surging around the room.
He keeps walking past the aforementioned computer and to another contraption that stood rival to his meager 5ft and change frame. Slypner presses a button opening a glass dome at the top which he places the program he acquired from Bug City into. Then turns and walks to a large glass tube with several cords strung around and on it at the back of the lab, straight from the stairs. A few tubes punctured the glass while the others collapsed at the base. Obviously a power source for the device.
A favor, small collective. he beckons over the light hum. Become part of something greater. Either entirely or as a small sum. As stated before, I need only a sample to replicate. He gestures to the large tube behind him. Inviting src to enter. However, the more of you that "chip in", the more accurate I can make the copies. I've dealt with your kind before and often there are... discrepancies in some. he stood awaiting src's response to his request.
(sorry for slop quality, busy atm)

Follows along inquisitively, was this a safe space? The collective assumed so. Instead of climbing down the stairs, Src liquefied and poured down the stairs effortlessly. Past many lighted walls with different figures changing on it, but Src was blind to their meaning. All it knew was that right now it wasn't in danger for the moment. Src watched as Sylphner gestured and spoke, but again didn't understand. Taking its canine form once again, sitting with its head tilted questioningly.

Slypner ... Slypner took the gesture as intended. It would seem it's an all or nothing deal then. Oh well. Nothing lost nothing gained. Though if these were anything like the last, more intelligent, batch. Things could get noisy. It's nothing his equipment can't handle though.
Sighing under his breath he turned around for a brief moment, then faced src once more holding a pen and paper. Pointing at his exquisite drawing of src and dragging the pen to a drawing of the large tube.

Src watched as Sylphner drew, believing it understood Src shivered. Falling into a puddle and then swirling back to become the shape of the large tube. Surely he meant that he preferred this form.

Slypner ... Once again taken by surprise at just how naive this batch was.
Alright. You seem eager to appease. This is good. Slypner takes to the pad again, scribbling down two blocks, one larger than the other. He taps the two, then points to src with the pen.

This time Src pooled up, and then split. Forming two identical blocks, although it looked a little like jell-o.

Slypner Slypner gently picks up both of the cubes. Careful to not upset it he had briefly seen what occurs when it gets spooked and he had no intention of turning his lab into a war zone.
Turning he places one within the large tube he had previously pointed to, then seals it shut. The scientist backs up to what would appear to be the control panel for the device and flips it on while still calmly holding the remaining cube. The cords around the vial hum to life in a vivid green while the base begins to roar to life only just above the natural ambiance.
Before long the src cube within feels itself begin to break apart, first from its cube shape then from the tiny src's themselves. Bit by bit the src within the chamber was being fractured and taken apart at a coding level. A painless process but still horrifying to think of.
Don't worry. The rest of you have another purpose. I only needed that for informational purposes. You'll have replacements soon. Knowing they couldn't understand he spoke for no reason other than to attempt to ease the likely growing unease of the src in his hand.

Src was gently lifted up by Sylphner. Their other half being placed into the tube. The half that went in the tube felt themselves slowly separating from one another. There was no malice so they simply allowed themselves to drift apart. As each one was a single bit of data as they were analyzed all that would show up would be garbage data. Random strings of chaotic binary. As they were already junk data to begin with this wasn't really a surprise.
The half that remained in Sylphners hand shivered a little as it felt its others being spread thinner and thinner and being dispersed through out the computer system. Each one losing their voice. Src did the only thing it knew to do whenever they felt the loss of their other selves. They began to replicate. The cube in Sylphner's hand began to become heavier and larger. Imperceptible at first, but soon it would be noticeable.

Slypner The machined whined down signalling completion. The console displayed the results of the dissection revealing what little there was to be had. Mostly junk data and to most random strings of gibberish.
Hrm. Was hoping to obtain more. glancing back down to src while it grows to replace its lost self. As expected. Fascinating. src's increasing weight did not go unnoticed, and before it would become a burden Slypner places the remaining cube into the clear cage.
Let's see. Once again sealing the chamber and positioning himself to see both the console screen and src itself. Then flipping the switch and beginning the breaking process again.

Src was again placed in the small cage and the same feeling of separation recurred. One by one Src began to shrank. Until all that was left were the ones that refused to separate. These were the original bits that had found each other across the net. These were the few that decided to become one.
All that would remain in the tube would be a small silver bead or liquid, struggling to keep their bond of existence.

Slypner The machine spat out the same report as before, gathering very little worthwhile data. Maybe something was wrong? Or was this chaotic batch of data really what made this creature up?
Curious, Slypner walks up to the pod but before opening it notices the small bead that remained. That shouldn't be. The machine breaks down all manner of data. Rather than risk contaminating the subject Slypner simple presses the button once more. Hoping this small remainder possessed the information he sought from this creature.

There was only a brief respite from the pulling sensation, until Sylphner pressed the button once again, even more was shave off. Until finally there was only two left, who clung onto each other with every bit of energy they could muster. Now they would be only as small as a grain of salt.

Slypner (Apologies)
Keeping a keen eye on the feed throughout the process it seemed as if he would need to find another means to extract the data he sought... until finally strings of legible data and procedures began to stream through at rapid pace.
Finally. sighing the words. As if he'd been at this for hours.
When opening the tank Slypner barely notices the the fraction of src. Tenacious. Maybe this trait was copied down as well. It would be a useful addition in the project. Still, he had gotten what he wanted and while the excess no longer served to this end perhaps it could another.
He needed to test how this new modification would affect the project. What better way than to apply it to this guinee pig? Reaching down Slypner scoops src up with one finger and gently begins to bring it over to a different machine. Almost done.
