Xeel Quick thinking was the only thing that kept her from eating boulder before, and it would help again. Without changing stance Xeel shot electricity into the snowy turf below, evaporating it instantly causing her to drop into the ground up to her neck. Ack an unfortunate happenstance was met with raw strength. Xeel slammed her head face first into the snow burying it just enough to avoid the boulder as it tumbled by, and the knives that followed.
A small tendril of purple smoke trickled by her ear and caused the trickster to reel back in laughter and jump straight out of the hole. As if by reflex Xeel threw another ball of energy at the ground as the poison panels formed causing a moderately large explosion and cracking the panels while she regained her composure.
Still airborne the assassin teleported over in front of the trio of Nid, Quo, and Fasilli. No weapons brandished but instead both hands were flooded in a torrent of yellow power. Without giving any time to react Xeel sucker punched Quo square in the jaw; leaving a yellow imprint that would not fade with time but pulsated every few seconds. She followed up with several more blows throughout his torso before grabbing him by the limp arm with one hand and slamming him overhead into Fasilli. Attempting to bury the latter with the former into the fresh poison stage.
With her free hand Xeel grabbed at Nidhiki's scythe and snatched it out of his hand while tugging the navi in front of other two with the force. With all three lined up the brutal navi finished the fluid motion by gripping the weapon with her now other hand, infusing it with the same overwhelming aura that radiated from the assaulter herself. Attempting to end all three of their digital lives in one fell, explosive, swoop. A gleeful grin on her face. For whether or not the swing were successful in doing so the energy would explode outward, shattering the area more than a dozen feet in all directions. Ripping the snow, the rocks above, and the poison stage, apart in a raw display of elegant power.

Resonance said not a word at this point. With Xion's reasonable nature shining through, the Generational dashes off like a gust of wind, making his way to the central area of the cave and the center of this conflict. This is when he sees just what's happening: utter chaos. Navis attacking in full-frontal assaults, doing their best to cut each other to pieces or blast each other to kingdom come. No matter how you look at it, this is not the most ideal situation for a Navi who relies more on stealth and espionage tactics.
....or is it...?
Only one way to find out. While still cloaked, Resonance holds out his hand and generates a black orb in the center of the battlefield. The orb hovers just above the ground and seems to silently watch the battlefield around it. He then transforms his arm into his elaborate buster, raises it to the battlefield, and charges. After a second, he releases an ear-splitting sonic pulse of such unbearable force that it seems to distort time and space itself. Between the frequency and volume of this constant wave of sonic pollution, the cave itself silently rumbles as crystallized data in the walls cracks and shatters under the sonic strain. And to make matters worse, Resonance didn't stop. With each passing moment, the sonic pulse grows louder and louder and more and more painful to those listening. All the while, Resonance remains cloaked, struggling to keep the ear-splitting sound going.

Quo flew up, his chest burning with agony from the series of blows, his chin pulsating with pain. He felt himself collide with the clown as Xeel attempted to take Nidhiki's weapon. 'I still have one trick, and you won't see it coming.!' In the darkness of the chaotic cave, it was already hard to notice, but the aura around Quo darkened even more as a dark claw shot out towards Xeel, slashing at her eyes.
He then felt something break in him. the sign that he was out of time. Had the damage from the attack been greater than he thought, or was it only a precursor for something worse? 'I can't... darn it...'
Nidhiki wasn't a fool. The first thing he had learned as a navi for hire was never let your opponent take your weapon. And he intended to keep that lesson going. As she grabbed at it, the scythe fell apart, reverting into a cluster of nanomachines that returned to Nidhiki's body. "Rule #1, never let your opponent grab your weapon."
"Rule #2, know when to retreat."
With that, he grabbed Quo by the back of his jacket, picking him up off of Fasillo, as he began to phase out, the golden navi seemingly leaving with him. The familiar message displayed as both him and Quo vanished.
<Nidhiki.exe Logging out>
And so Xeel's two foes had left, leaving her prizelss, the battle for nothing...
And then Quo reappeared, propped up against the wall.
A look of panic overtook his face as he saw Xeel before him. 'He didn't have enough energy to get us both out! I'm a sitting duck now!' However, panic slowly turned into the face of defeat. "Who would've thought it would've come to this?" he said weakly, coughing as he ended his sentence. "Just make it quick. At least give me that."

Yes. Even though it wasn't his victory, Nidhicki got out.... but wait; the Navi from the Shell network? Why in the...?
....wonderful.
Dropping the sonic interference, Resonance breaks from his invisible state and dashes to the center of the area with impressive speed. He stands before Quo with a set of three clones, all four versions of himself raising a set of black cannon-arms to those in the area.
Resonance: Not today!
At the same time, the four versions of Resonance drop their aim and fire at the ground. Plumes of black smoke rise and swirl around, with Resonance and Quo in the center. Without a word, Resonance grabs Quo by the scruff of the neck and dashes for the mouth of the cave, hoping that the distraction would be enough...

Xeel The weapon melted at her touch. A smart play, but the tool was merely a cosmetic to the devastation she could wrought. With a yellow orb manifesting in her open palm she prepared another assault. Just as she was about lash out at the trio Resonance's attack cracked the air; breaking her focus and causing her to whip the attack in a random direction in front of her. Missing them entirely.
Without a proper means of countermeasure aside "covering her ears" the assassin was left to bear the full assault of the sonic blast. She dropped to one knee while looking around for the source.. but was impossible to pinpoint. Rather than continue the fruitless search Xeel opted to punch ground repeatedly. Each blow caused a bolt of lightning to strike randomly on the mountainside. Replacing Resonances assault with something more familiar and comforting: Thunder.
Righting herself once more she managed to glimpse Nidhiki attempting to escape but it was too late. She reached out at the trickles of data but only managed to collect mere bytes. It was enough. She could track the weakling where ever he may crop up next.
Visibly infuriated, Xeel turned a cold glare to the two remainder navis only to be greeted by several newcomers. Or rather one newcomer using doppelgangers. The black Shroud did its job, obscuring Resonance and company from site. It however did not prove as valuable as hoped. The glowing yellow marks on Quo serving to betray the would-be savior.
Still livid at the loss of her prey Xeels yellow aura dissipates only to be absorbed by her. The raw leftover energy from her previous attacks empowering her while she showed no visible signs of being strengthened. With no warning Xeel appears in front of Resonance already coming down on him with a large ball of pure blue energy with a white epicenter.
After slamming the ball, but before it even had time to fully detonate, Xeel vanished again, appearing next to Quo and ripping him from Resonances cuff grab with unruly force. With a light grunt Xeel then proceeded to whip Quo into the back of his savior. Forcing the two into the blast and topping it off with a second orb from behind that mimiced the first. Sandwiching them.

Prior to being slammed: The Fasilli Nid locked scythes with was not what it seemed. It was infact, a dark clone which had no solid substance. The scythe however was very much real, but all in all the clone was soundly trounced when Quo flattened it. But where was Fasilli? Probably hiding among the BLACK MIASMA roaring softly through the air around the battlefield. This female was... interesting to say the least. Aside from the fact she had been trying to take his kill, she had a nice laugh atleast!
AND THEN THERE WAS MORE NOISE! Why was there more noise? The noise was great enough to force Fasilli out of hiding for reals this time, howling in pain and irritation for a moment before it stopped. And Nid got away. NO! NONONONONONONONONONONONONNONONONONONONONONO! There were now TWO pissed off assassins with a hunger for death. But Xeel tried to take his kill, so the chances of him cooperating with her fully was laughable.
But he wasn't about to let her steal two more kills! Fasilli teleported and appeared right on her tail, in the middle of an upward swing using a sword. He then followed up by quickly backing up and throwing a pair of poisoned shivs at her, but they would also hit either Quo (or one of the Resonances) if she avoided.

Resonance had hoped that his previous attacks would make a difference. Apparently, they didn't even stall for time. Before Resonance can react, the orb of energy crashes into Resonance and sends him reeling back. A second later he's hit squarely in the back by Quo, which forces him forward again, and then he's crushed between the orbs of energy. Xeel's power stands as easily a match for the Generational as he falls forward and to his knees, loosing sight of Quo as he does so. In fact, if not for Fasilli's sudden intervention, this game would be over.
....as the assassin jester makes his move, Resonance remains on his knees; his head spins, his body hurts, and the returned feeling of failure plagues his spirit yet again. At every turn that he'd made today, resonance was cut off, overpowered, or beaten senseless. He'd done his best to protect everyone possible, but in the end he'd managed to be nothing more than a distraction at best.
And, at last, he's done.
Pushing against the ground, Resonance rises to his feet; shaky and unstable, he manages to hold himself up against the cave wall as he looks back to Xeel and Facilli. Resonance places one hand over his right shoulder, the other over his chest, and then he turns to the assassin duo, holding on tightly as he stumbles over as quickly as he can and kneels down next to Quo. Releasing his chest, he then places his hand onto the damaged Navi.
Resonance: You've done enough.
Taking away his hand, Resonance reveals his own teleportation unit, now in Quo's hand. Already set to go off, it flashes once and then moves the damaged Navi to Element City; someplace that Resonance knew would be safe. He then gets up and turns to the two assassins, who he now knew would want his blood instead.
Resonance: ...that's it then; I'm the last one on this side of the equation, and the only one without a way to escape.
Resonance smiles as he speaks, his hand still gripping his right shoulder tightly.
Resonance: I just saved the guy who saved the guy that you were trying to kill. You don't even get the silver medal today, how does that make you feel?
Resonance's smile contorts to a smirk. He laughs under his breath at Xeel and Fasilli, taunting them as his left arm lays dead at his side and his right hand continues to hold firm to his right shoulder.

Quo was in enough agony that he could do nothing but give a slight nod to Resonance. And with that he was gone, transferring networks. His one regret was that he had come so close to his goal, yet failed only because he decided to get involved.

Xeel *shlick* The sword skimmed along her back, turning her vest into two shoulder accessories. The would quickly be adopted by her circuitry, pumping through her at a rate much faster due to her frenzied state and programming. The cheap shot was enough of a heads up to allow her to deflect with the sword toss with a kunai. Ending the rogues second attempt on her life. Xeel's eye twitched again as she turned back around only to witness Quo shifting into bits of data, as did Nidhiki not seconds ago. She brushed the segments of vest off her arms, letting them hit the snow with a soft crunch. Though the poison was inside, in her current state she was able to shrug it off. Flustered, but in my line of work you find ways to keep track of your possessions. she taps the side of her head, smirking. Without warning Xeel whipped around, starting a grabbing motion as she went and then vanished... ...Only to appear behind Fasilli and the previous motion still in progress. She snatched the clown by the neck continued while dragging him along like the rag-doll he was. Xeels other hand gripped at the end of the action and with one clean motion pull back ripped Fasilli's head clean off. <Fasilli.exe DELETED>Before Fasilli's separated corpse could begin to fragment she energized the head and whipped it at Resonance with such force that you'd miss it if you blinked. Her standard explosion made more cataclysmic when done inside a cave that it began to crumble all around. Before the glare even subsided Xeel's own flicker of yellow tinted light pierced the would-be tomb. Signalling her departure. [Xeel -> Element City(Pg:26)]

...the head was easy enough to avoid. In fact, it passed through Resonance's body as if he wasn't even there. The real blow was what came next; silence. Fasilli is dead, and Xeel continued her hounding, no doubt to follow Quo. Without his teleportation device, this battle ended with that move.
With the picture dawning on him, Resonance's continence falls. Taking a step back, he puts his back to the rocky wall of the frigid cave and slides down, taking off his helmet and letting his stringy, black hair fall into his face as he does so. He'd failed yet again. However, somehow that's not what runs through his mind now...
....the frozen wall on his back. It's like it was yesterday. Electopia fell to a country-wide deep freeze, and no one knew why. He had just joined the ONB, and was one of the Navis sent to investigate; he and Sapphire. Before long, the fiery swordswoman began to succumb to the cold. It weakened her to the point of near deletion, so he took her to a nearby cave and tried his best to warm her up, even wrapping her in his scarf and exposing his wound to the elements.
It wasn't long after that that he had confessed to her how he felt... and she gave him the chance that he'd so longed to have.
A tear falls down Resonance's face as he remembers, wishing that he could open his eyes and see her again, just one more time. Wishing that he could rise to the occasion like she did so may times, wishing that he could go on without the constant memory of his failure.
Slumping down farther with a sigh, Resonance closes his eyes. His body damaged, all that he can do is remain silent and try his best to begin recovering. The walk before him would be long and hard, to say nothing of the path that his life would continue to lay out before him...

*Oh man, he hated this sort of thing. Because he had someone who was always acting like this from time to time too. The clown getting his head ripped off was a bit amusing and he wished he could have done it himself, but then he hadn't because he had been more focused on Resonance and answers. Quo was going to get it of course, because he probably was on his own. But the one had used that odd item. Xion was confident he'd be fine for one reason or another.*
"That certainly could have gone better, couldn't it? But don't feel bad. Pretty sure at least one of them are going to live."
*But this brought about his situation. He didn't know all about Resonance's life to say he could empathize with him. In fact, he wouldn't want to. That only got in the way of having fun with people unless you were into that sort of thing. He just could tell that it was rather similar to when that guy felt sorry for himself too. Was he good at dealing with him either? Nope. But he also didn't feel like killing Resonance, so the guy would mostly have to wallow in that for a bit there.*
"Besides, it's not like you had to save anyone here, right?"

And there's the voice again. Resonance recognizes it instantly, but this time he doesn't make any reaction. No one left to protect, and he struggles to care about what may happen now.
Resonance: ...I know that we can't save everyone, but I still try to.
Resonance opens his eyes and looks forward. He knew of Xion, and had even fought against him indirectly a few times, but he didn't know that the master darkloid was capable of being so... unagressive. He searches his mind for something to say, but finds nothing. So, for now, he allows silence to hang in the air.

*blip, blip, blip*
The cold mountain air blew through the entrance of the cave, the silhouette of a navi watching the two inside. The right side of this shadow was a massive, complex weapon, the left side, simply a normal navi with a shield. A spark of electricity arced from the weapon down onto the ground, briefly illuminating him.
Idiots... Longinus thought at the back of his mind, thinking of Nidhiki and Quo's decision to remain in the mountains, at the risk of their own lives. It was rare that he felt frustration rising up inside him, he was designed not to feel these things, but his operator was gone. He couldn't leave like this. He needed something useful to bring back to his operator, to avoid punishment. Useful is the exact opposite that he has been so far, however.
*blip blip blip*
Longinus cautiously stepped forward into the cave, closer to Xion and Resonance. He looked down at them with a face of stone. "Xeel won't get to Nidhiki." He muttered. He looked at both Xion and Resonance.
*blip blip blip*
He stepped forward now, looking down at Resonance, beside Xion.
"It will take more than just strong navis to solve this mess." He said to both. "What do you know?"

As Longinus appears, weapon drawn, Resonance looks up to him with the same worn-out expression that he'd dawned since the battle ended. He then raises an eyebrow and glances up to Xion before returning gaze to the weapons Navi.
Resonance: I know that you've probably got a better chance of surviving if you try to shoot me than if you try to shoot him. Not by much, though.
