The weather was perfect. Sunny, bright, and with nothing but a gentle breeze. The warmth and the rays of light beat down on Xyzillentz' suit, heating it up to slightly uncomfortable levels. Inside, the nefarious navi's toxic body was tense. It was his first time in a big Net city - and it was quite a shock to see so much surrounding him after he'd been cooped up all alone on a deactivated server for so long.
He'd heard of these training grounds from Zed, and immediately realized it was a perfect opportunity for them both to get some practice. Xyz was nothing if not confident, but even he had to admit that he was inexperienced. And having a first-time PET owner as an operator wasn't terribly reassuring either. Still, though, Zed was a smart boy. Cunning, antisocial, a bit awkward at times... the perfect evil genius in the making. And Xyzillentz had every intention of making sure he realized that potential.
Of course, you don't get far as a criminal in the modern world unless you and your navi are adept net battlers... preferably with allies. So in a way, Xyzillentz' mission was twofold: to find someone to battle and hopefully defeat, but also, regardless of the outcome, to convert them into someone he could work with, as he had with the lonely young man he now called the flesh and blood that makes him whole. And if they were cute? Well, that's a nice bonus too.

*As Xyzillentz walks among the numerous arenas raised among the battlefield, countless fights rage on with the sound of male and female Navis locked in combat rising from every direction. Some released energy, some called on support, still others fought in more traditional sense. Weapons, fists, every single type of combat style became apparent as the Toxic Navi made his way from arena to arena looking for one open. Until, at last, he reaches one near the northern edge of the training field. Standing in the center of one of the arenas, a smaller Navi clad in silver and green armor stands with his arms crossed. With an overall annoyed and bored look on his face, he glances down to Xyzillentz as he passes and yells out*
Edge: Hey, you! If you're looking for some training, then get up here and alleviate my boredom!!
*The Navi then returns his eyes skyward and sighs*
Edge: Most of the Navis here are just normals anyway.... if you're looking for something better than a quick log-out, then you'd best take up my offer fast!

Calmly and slowly, Xyzillentz looked over to his challenger. He smiled, not that it could be seen beneath his helmet. Advancing onto the battlefield with grace, Xyz examined the gleaming warrior more closely. Here was an interesting opponent indeed.
"My my, someone's cocky, brazen, and aloof. That and your shiny surface almost had me convinced I was looking into a mirror." Without formally or outwardly accepting the challenge, the pungent provocateur walked closer and closer to his opponent, stopping at just past arm's length. "I like your armor. Though if you're going for threatening with those chains, you may be misinterpreted by some. After all, I happen to know that a few people would call it less terrifying and more... kinky."
Watching and listening on his PET, Zed rolled his eyes. He was about to say something to his newfound navi when he was reminded of his partner's words. Not long after forming an alliance, Xyzillentz had explained his strategy. Deceit, a false sense of security, emotional tension, perhaps even seduction... all to catch the enemy off guard. In short, psychological warfare. Zed let Xyz continue uninhibited.
His faith was well-placed. At that moment, Xyzillentz released a gaseous geyser from his chest vent, the toxic, putrid-smelling substance made all the more ripe by its confinement in the hot black suit. In anticipation of a counterattack, Xyzillentz cartwheeled to the side as soon as his Stench Spurt attack was completed.

*Edge, somehow entirely oblivious to the underlying meaning to Xyzillentz's words, shoots a bright, though highly aggressive smile to his darkloid foe, taking battle-ready stance as his body tenses in excitement for the coming combat*
Edge: Yeah, yeah.... quit the talk or-
*Before Edge could even finish speaking, the Light-Navi's eyes burst open as the blast of putrid gasses, coming out as something closer to a beam than a cloud, blast from the core of this strange Navi's being. Nearly falling over in panic, Edge jumps to the side and lands on one foot with less than graceful balance. As he looks down, he notices that his mirror-like armor is now blackened with smoke in a small area, and a foul stench is rising from his left side where the attack had just barely graced his body*
Edge: Oh COME ON! I don't mind if you don't fight clean, but THIS?! WHAT DID YOU EAT LAST NIGHT YOU DISGUSTING FREAK!!!!!!
*Trying franticly to wipe off the stench for a few moments, Edge's battle-excited composure turns to one of anger as he clenches his fists, looking to the Navi with a surge of rage*
Edge: That's it.....
*Stretching his arms out forward, Edge summons a pair of solid white energy disks, each one hovering just inches from his arms and staying with the pitch and angle of his hands. With a quick show of speed and flare by wielding the two disks like swords before him, the light Navi locks his view onto Xyzillentz with the same anger from just moments before*
Edge: You're MINE!
*Two blades suddenly expand from Edge's back as a bright green light erupts behind him. With a flash, the blade-wielder blasts forward and closes the gap between the two, bringing his arm around and down across the toxic Navi's body as the energy disk stays in perfect unison. Finishing his slash, he follows up again and again, performing three attacks in quick succession while giving Xyzillentz no breathing room before thrusting one hand forward and raising his palm to the darkloid. Under his wrist, a small laser-like device shines with a bright green light as a literal chain forged of energy with a bladed pendulum at the end takes form and fires forward like a snake striking its victim, launching forward to the Toxic Navi's position and dropping to the ground where it instantly buries itself into the ground. With the chain still planted, he then leaps forward, using it as a grounding point as he releases his momentum and swings around, performing a massive round-house kick across Xyzillentz's form and planting himself with his chained hand to the ground as he raises his head and eyes his opponent for his next move*

Xyzillentz was impressed by this navi's maneuverability. It was his first time facing an opponent who could move like this. But seeing that kind of technique only put him on guard. As his opponent swung his blades towards him, Xyzillentz dropped down to the ground backwards, holding himself up with his bent arms and legs as though he were in a yoga position. This was enough to dodge the first strike - but the follow up caught him off-guard. And so did the next one.
Two strikes was two too many. He held in a grunt as he rolled to the side - and almost directly into the path of his opponent's glowing chain. Remaining on the ground, he took the opportunity to allow Edge's leg to sail overhead. As soon as the danger was past, Xyzillentz rose from his position on the ground, speaking as he did.
"I admit your technique is quite interesting - though I can't quite decide whether your attacks or your words hurt less." In mid-movement, the dangerous darkloid lifted his right leg high over his shoulder in a swinging kick aimed at his opponent's neck. From his still-hung head, he launched a green blast of energy under the bridge created by his limb, directly at the shining torso of his playmate.

*Already ready for the returned assault, the Lightning Blader takes his still-free left hand and turns the back of it to his opponent, the energy disk that had been moving in perfect unison with it up to this point shifting position and becoming something of a shield as he quickly raises it against the kick and energy blast, each one reflecting off the light-based blade as Edge looks on with a renewed smile*
Edge: You haven't seen anything yet!
*With Edge's hand still planted to the ground from his chain before, the light Navi shoots a quick smile. Behind Xyzillentz, two chains with the same bladed pendulum end burst from the ground and home in on his general location like a pair of cobras set to strike. Once the two glowing green chains reach their end, they freeze in mid-air as a pair of solid white energy disks identical to the two Edge had been wielding before burst from the ground, traveling up along the chains at break-neck speed directly at Xyzillentz and reach the ends where they rotate in place for several seconds before the entire elaborate setup disappears. By this point, Edge is already several yards away, holding his arms to the side as he quickly slashes forward, releasing his disks one at a time by tossing them and letting them fly. He throws off a total of four energy blades, generating new ones directly after each release, before landing a fair distance from his toxic opponent, still on-guard and somewhat disturbed by the opening attack.....*

Xyzillentz nearly grunted in frustration at his attacks being blocked, barely catching himself. Composure was key. He almost lost that composure once more at the sight and sound of the numerous chains and blades on a collision course with his body. It was really quite the spectacle, glowing and moving through the air like a mythic dragon...
No time for distraction. Time to disappear. In an instant, the dark grey color of Xyzillentz' suit bled into the air like a phantasmal fog, obscuring his location as he moved to the side, dodging the unexpected attack from the front out of pure luck. The cloud of evil energy moved swiftly towards the shining soldier, concealing the navi running behind it. Xyzillentz stifled his usual banter in an attempt to keep himself from disclosing his location unintentionally. At the last moment of the charge towards Edge, as the cloud spread to engulf him, Xyzillentz leapt out of the cloud's edge, fist launching at Edge's body glowing with a green, venemous veneer of power.

*With his elaborate strike avoided and a cloud of toxins rising across the field, Edge curses under his breath in anger. Standing with his energy blades set and ready, he attempts to look through the oncoming cloud of fog. Seeing Xyzillentz's movement, he quickly brings down both of his arms in an X-strike, but just a moment too late. The darkloid leaps from the cloud just slightly too soon and the toxic fist slams into the blader's gut, raising him off the ground and knocking him back, winded by the blow and now trying to breathe through the toxic haze. In short; this did not bode well for the light-elemental.
Forcing himself to stand against the pain, Edge holds both blades at the ready. Giving himself a mere second to recover, the blader closes the newly created gap between himself and Xyzillentz before the fog could fold over the dark Navi again and hide him. Holding both palms down and out, with his blades quickly following suit, the blades on the Navi's back shift as he dives at the last second, sliding to Xyzillentz's feet before turning on his jets in a blinding flash, shooting skyward as the angle of his bladed wings force him to spin, turning into a slicer as he rises skyward, flipping back wards at the pinnacle of his assault as he thrusts one arm forward, quickly launching another chain directly at his opponent's position. However, unlike the previous chain, this one stays airborne once it reaches its end as, in a flash, a huge energy blade forms at the tip and rushes back along to Edge's hand, slicing Xyzillentz the entire way. With this blade now in hand, Edge once again leaps back, throwing it forward with a yell as it flys forward with a loud buzz, slicing through the air as it homes in on its target with break-neck speed*

The dark cloud faded away, and through the dissipating darkness Xyzillentz saw his opponent shoot skyward, performing aerobatic aerial maneuvers. Once again, the darkloid was impressed. "You know, if this whole warrior thing doesn't work out, I could always use you as a private dancer. You'd make for wonderful entertainment." But admiring the flexibility of his opponent - both literal and figurative - was a frivolity he couldn't afford at the moment. Another one of his chains launched into the ground, causing Xyzillentz' mind to race to a clumsily calculated conclusion. Last time, there had been a faint from the rear and an attack from the front. Repeating tactics wasn't something too advisable. So this time, he reasoned, the attack would really come from behind.
He turned around, stepping over and to the side of the chain as he did so. Expecting a mass of moving chains, he was pleasantly surprised to see only one blade following the path of the chain right past him. Still pivoting on his foot as he made this observation, he continued through the turn and used his free foot to launch himself airborne as soon as he had made a full 360.
As he soared through the air, his right leg was grazed by the same blade he had narrowly avoided earlier. Although he winced a bit behind his visor, Xyzillentz continued through the air, firing another green shot from his visor at the flying foe before him. He landed into a crouch below Edge, and performed a lightning-fast, elegant somersault to get out from under the light elemental, raising one foot high into the air as he rolled and releasing a small spurt of gas from the vents on his sole in a kinetic kick.
Finally, as soon as he completed his roll, Xyz emerged from his crouched position and ran as fast as he could. Not away... he was no coward. Instead, he turned to the left, and kept going. All the time, he released gas from every vent on his suit. The physical activity and intense heat had made in more powerfully pungent than ever. Beneath the dark suit, Xyzillentz' light skin tingled relentlessly, his pores releasing gasses that had been stored far too long. He did his best to create an inescapable cloud of choking, stinging, debilitating, musky mist. Now it's all or nothing... it's got to be.

*Raising his arm in response to Xyzillentz' visor blast, Edge once again brings his energy blade into position and deflects the strike, but finds himself caught off guard by the following kick. Coming in under his energy-blade, the attack strikes his unguarded arm and causes him to spin in mid-air and ground himself, landing with weak footing as he quickly rights himself. It's then that he notices that his opponent is now rushing in to finish the battle. Never one to disappoint, Edge brings both of his blades forward and stands ready to respond in-kind.
Running toward his opponent, not making use of his thrusters this time, Edge quickly folds his hands in front of himself and raises his right hand. The result; both blades layer onto one-another, creating one larger, far more menacing disk. The spinning energy blade buzzes wildly as it slices through the air, rushing at the same pace as Edge himself as the two Navis close their gap with each passing step. With just moments to spare, the final attempt at victory begins. With a yell, Edge tosses this blade forward, allowing it to cut through the fog like a knife through paper as it speed to Xyzillentz' position. As the destructive weapon passes, it's quickly followed by yet another glowing green chain aimed directly at the darkloid's head; screaming out and standing rigid in mid-air as Xyzillentz and Edge now find themselves face-to-face in the smoke..... a smile on Edge's face*
Edge: ....let's end this.
*Leaping back before Xyzillentz could make an attack, Edge brings his arm around, the glowing green chain following suit as it spins around and behind the light-elemental like a whip. Landing on the ground with both arms raised, the glowing chain stands straight up like a sword above Edge's head.... his smile just slightly visible as the fog finally covers him entirely.... but something beyond Edge and the Chain was looming overhead.... a bright, piercing light. As edge brings his arms down with a yell, the whole of the chain becomes visible.... with the massive energy blade he had tossed earlier attached to the end. The chain wasn't there to attack in-and-of itself, rather Edge had used it to grapple the previous blade and bring it along for one final strike, one final attempt to finish it.
The blade screams through the sky, cutting the clouds of smog in its wake as Edge slams it directly into Xyzillentz' position, cutting into the ground with a massive spray of sparks as the light-energy explodes, releasing a huge, vertical blade-wave forward like a shock wave, slashing through the smoke and cutting into the wall at the end of the training facility*

Alrighty ring-a-ding-ding! You both earned an E grade!
Now to actually assess this fight.
Style: 30/30 27/30
What really got me here was that Raven separated the speech of his navi from his actions. UFAlien, you did excellently, However, I had to search for when what was said and what was done were separated. Bold or Italics goes a long way.
Articulation: 20/20 20/20
Tres magnifique!
Balance: 20/20 20/20
Another awesome one for both of you, it looked pretty head-to-head.
Length: 9/10 9/10
It wasn't extreme, but both of you had a slight tilt away from the perfect equilibrium. Raven was a smidge too long on some, and UFAlien, you could've said a little more.
Emotion: Both 10/10
Yeah, this was easily ten for both of you, your characters really fit the bill and really got into the fight. It was excellent.
Extra notes: I have to say, I wish I could've seen more to this fight, but it's 4 posts, what can I expect? This did a really good job on revealing just what kind of navis Edge and Xyzillentz are. Personally though, I feel like this showed WHO Xyzillentz is, where as Edge only revealed his attitude, for that, 9 to Raven and 10 to UFAlien!
Final Score 97 Raven 96 UFAlien
Winner: Raven!

Due to Edge not yet being complete, I'm giving winning EXP/Z to Xyz. That's 55/550, as he intends to make a finishing post.

Unfortunately for Xyzillentz, Edge's aim was quite accurate. The noxious navi was knocked against the wall. He slid down into a slump, out of gas - literally. The green mist cleared, revealing the victor standing tall. His once bright armor was tarnished, stained by the grit and residue from the battle. But perhaps this could be a victory still - not in combat, but on another level. Perhaps the darkened surface of the opposing navi would prove symbolic. And if not now... well, he was one to watch.
Xyzillentz rose to his feet, weakly and slowly. It was a stark contrast to his usual fluid movements, full of hesitation and awkwardness. Of course, some of it was exaggerated... but he was tired, and defeated. No doubt about that at all. Still, now was the time to make Edge feel as good about himself as possible. It was clear the rush of battle was a high for him... and highs like that can make one's mind more malleable, more open to suggestion.
Walking over slowly towards his opponent, Xyzillentz performed an elegant and overzealous bow. Standing back up, he placed a hand on his hip and cocked his head to the side.
"You're quite good at this... and you have a lot of passion. You know how to use it. That's good. I can truly appreciate that. It can take you very far in my line of work, you know." He paused for emphasis. "That is an invitation, by the way."
Xyzillentz turned on the balls of his feet, pivoting like a dancer as he slowly walked away, a certain amount of excitement evident in his gait despite the beating he'd just taken.
"You win this bout, bladed brawler. But I do hope to see you in combat again. Perhaps, next time, on my side. After all..." He his head back for a moment, to address Edge directly. "It's been a gas."
He turned away again in silence, walking more quickly to an unknown destination. Everything he'd said had been true, and his desires and requests were sincere. This one had potential. And although he'd already been an opponent, only now was he truly a target.

*As Xyzillentz said his remarks and left the battlefield, Edge stood tall with arms crossed, smiling like a true champion at his victory.... untill the pungent Navi left, at which time the light-elemental bursts into histarics, attempting to wipe off the effects of the battle*
Edge: MUST. REMOVE. STENCH!!!!
*With a yell, Edge blasts off of the battlefield and runs down the isle, disappearing into the showers.... which causes every other Navi to suddenly join a mass-exodus due to the toxic stench*
