In this board, you make a topic as in a stats battle, with the title being who's fighting (normally), and then you mark it for review. At this point, a staff member will come in and post to say they'll judge, then you RP out the entire fight over a predetermined number of posts, as decided by the combatants.
Note: In general, unless specified otherwise, this will be the number of posts that EACH participant will make.
At the end, the judge(s) will give you a letter-rank based on your RP in that battle and will announce a winner. The battle can then end right there, or it may continue to demonstrate the outcome if the players so choose. If the battle is finished, a slight bonus will be given to both players. After all is said and done, the rewards will be given out.
Don't forget these essentials!
-To label how many posts you'll be making per person
-To mark for a judge
-To mark when the fight starts! This is important for the judge!
-To mark whether the Story Version setting is on or off!
-To mark which version combatants are matched at if Story Versions are off!
-To mark whether the Version Bonus Points setting is on or off!
FIGHT RANKING
Unlike in a stat battle, EXP/Zenny will be based on the letter grade you're given, and the letter grade will be based on specific points allotted to the Navi based on specific performance areas. As of now, these areas are:
1: Style: how well the general RP is played (30 points)
2: Articulation: how well specific things are described (20 points)
3: Balance: Keeping the battle within realistic balance against the opponent (Not acting too over-powered or too weak. Keeping somewhat within RP rules for the most part) Also making sure they keep within their limits: if they have nothing but attacks that involve swords and they suddenly pull out a gun; IT MAKES NO SENSE! This can also work in another way: if you're fighting someone with a fair story-advantage and you tend to keep on the defensive as if you're struggling, you can easily win balance points due to the fact that you're keeping it real. The same can go for the reverse as well. (20 points)
4: Length: Making sure the RP isn't too long-winded or short (The individual rater's judgment to some degree) (10 points)
5: Emotion: The amount of emotion and feeling that went into the post. Too much/too little loses points (Emotion is within the limits of the individual, so someone with a machine-like personality doesn't lose points for staying in-character). (10 points)
6: Judge Points: Individual points that the judge can use for whatever they like (10 points)
The ranks are as follows, from least to greatest:
E Rank: 0~20 points
D Rank: 21~45 points
C Rank: 46~60 points
B Rank: 61~80 points
A Rank: 81~99 points
S Rank: 100 points
STORY VERSION SETTING
As part of the standardized form for starting an RP battle thread, members must specify, in the thread's first post, whether version differences will be taken into account during the battle itself. They will post either "Story Versions: Off" or "Story Versions: On". If a battle does not take version differences into account ("Story Versions: Off"), the combatants must specify which version the Navis will be matched and played at before the battle begins. This can either be the story version of the lower-version Navi, the story version of the higher-version Navi, or a version in between the two numbers. If story versions are set to "on", they will simply play their Navis at their current story versions, as they would in the site's main story area.
VERSION BONUS POINTS
The first post of the thread must also specify whether the version bonus points will be applied at the end of the battle ("Version Bonus Points: On" or "Version Bonus Points: Off"). If version bonus points are on, the Navi with the higher story version has 5 points added onto their final battle score per version they are above their opponent (5 points for one version above 10 for 2, etc.), up to a max of 30 bonus points. These points will be counted when choosing the winner, but not when assigning letter grades. If version bonus points are off, no bonus points will be awarded for a Navi being of a higher version.
FIGHT STYLES
Now, you may be thinking: "I'm going to be graded by someone else? That seems unfair" well, we've worked out a few different ways to help balance this.
At the start of your post, you need to state what kind of judgment style you want of the following:
Single-Judge. One approved judge will rate both (or more) players and give an final rank.
Multi-Judge. Each Navi will be graded by an individual staff member.
Panel. A panel of several judges will give rates. The problem with this: in most cases the panel will just give a Y/N rate, so you wont get a letter grade.
Free-Style/Team. This is the one that stems back to the original MMM the most. The players will go in and just go wild: RP the fight and choose whoever (if anyone) wins among themselves . However, there will be no winner announced: the fighters will be given EXP/Zenny based on their combined skill!
If you're still not happy with the outcome, you can request an appeal, where an admin will come and check the rating-scales of any judges and decide if the outcome should be upheld or not. If you're STILL not happy, Raven will come in and make a final judgment. Even if he was already a judge, he will make a full review and double check.
