I worte this short story for a class and I wanted to see what you guys thought about it. The 1st person who can guess what the story is ACTUALLY talking about will get 500 zenny in the RPG from me. ^__^
Ready?
The warm, tropical breeze that floated by was a new feeling for her. It gave her a sense of renewal, an amazing, new thirst for nature. Of course, this was only a school trip for the Portugese club, but she had not realized until then, how much nature could calm her. The tree she was underneath rocked with the breeze, and she smiled slightly.
"You okay?"
The girl gave a start at the voice, whispered against the wind. For a moment, she had almost believed that nature was speaking to her. However, she soon discovered that the speaker was merely a student on the trip with her, an underclassman. He was male, with dark, unruly hair and he had surprised her, although it was only for a moment.
"I'm wonderful."
"Really?" The young man came around the tree, a slight smile playing across his lips. He had been here before, to this land and he loved it all: the language and the culture. Brazil was a wonderful place to him.
"I was thinking..."
"Hm? About what?"
"Chocolate."
"Chocolate?"
"Yes, chocolate." The girl sitting near his ankles shifted her weight and leaned back further against the tree behind her.
"So you like chocolate?"
"No. I love it."
"Really? Why?"
"It's an escape."
"An escape? Where are you going?"
"In my mind."
At that moment, a bird chose to fly into the tall tree behind the two, knocking a cacao seed right into her lap.
"That's a- ."
"Cacao seed, I know." The girl picked the seed up out of her lap and stared at it, running her fingers along the brown seed.
"You should keep it."
"Why?"
"Don't you love chocolate?"
"Yes."
"Then keep it."
"This isn't chocolate."
"It's used to make it though."
"That isn't the same thing."
"Why not?"
"It isn't chocolate."
"But it tastes just as sweet."
The girl continued to stare at the seed in her hand, realizing that the young man was right. Dusting off her shorts, she stood up, brefor turning to face the boy with a small smile on her face.
"I think I'll keep it."
"I'm glad." Her underclassman met her smile with a grin of his own, and slid his hand into her's. Then, waiting until she had placed the seed in her pocket, they took one last look at the Cacao tree and began to walk away.
Note: Cacao trees are what cocoa (aka chocolate) comes from.
Okay, now here's my question: What exactly is going on here? Is it really about chocolate? The 1st person to answer this correctly gets 500 Zenny! ^__^
