It was just as he remembered it, although he hadn't had any need to return here on his side in a long time. The interchanging pathways, the dark wave platforms, and the constant dense fog on all sides . . . it was truly a bleak place that felt just like the dungeon it was intended to be. The large orange warp point was behind him, which he remembered would lead to the SkyWave. Wherever it leads from this end, he actually had no idea, but could assume that it would just eject whatever Navi entered here back to however it entered in the first place. He imagined this didn't exactly have a standard access point, although if it were anything like his side, it would bleed into the surrounding Network spaces.
Burai had no need to worry about any of that, of course, and turned away to wait for Feint to join him. He had accustomed to the static density in the Bermuda Maze a long time ago, and so had no need to even bother trying to drown out the constant drone. The Maze was somewhat overwhelming to first-time visitors, though, due to the ambiance and the density of the Wave Data.
He saw the Guide Hertz waiting at the entrance, staring down at them, and found himself annoyed. These beings were always waiting here, as though they would actually help someone through the maze. All they did was travel along at their own pace, and sometimes stopped dead to let you figure out what was supposed to come next, and only followed along if you happened to be right. Losing sight of it for even a second spelled out being utterly lost, and he was somewhat glad that he had already traversed the maze once. It shouldn't be any different from what his side was like, considering the maze had been unchanged for thousands of years before that on their end.
He was apprehensive of what they might find at the end, but knew that he had to check both possibilities just to be certain. The maze only had two destinations - its Center, and its Stairway to Heaven. The Stairway to Heaven would be blocked off depending on which of his theories was correct, which he would be able to check as he took the path towards the Center. He would still need to go check the Center, as that was where the last artifact on this end would be located.

Feint entered from the portal, observant as she ever was. The place gave a very uncomfortable vibe, being as out of her norm as it was, but the absence of Net Technology wasn't entirely unwelcome. Though it did feel... imperfect -- certainly not the ideal. Rather than weighing the pros and cons of those things, she discarded the thought instead and focused just on what they were here for; always taking the easy way out of that.
" No doubt you know your way around here: lead on. "

Burai found himself staring off into the distance, towards that first wave emission that would rocket them more than a hundred miles across the ocean into the depths of the Bermuda Maze itself. There was a divergence in the Wave Road just next to it, that should lead to a stark purple gate indicating that the lock sealing the Continent of Mu beneath the waves was still in place.
That purple gate was missing, the pathway to the Stairway to Heaven wide open. As Burai guided Feint towards the yellow wave emission, he stared down that path that would lead towards the purple wave emission.
". . . Those arrogant, naive fools actually did it. The power to wage war on the entire world, and no one knows any better . . . " Burai points towards the path just across from the one they walked upon, the transparent, entirely two dimensional Wave Road still likely very new to Feint. "That being open means that an entire continent should be floating in the sky. If you want to hear more myths that we have explanations for, you likely remember Atlantis - instead, it is the lost Continent of Mu, and it didn't float in the sea, it floated in the atmosphere. It should be visible from any landmass in the world, especially Netopia. Whatever they used to completely recreate the Donbura Lake, they are using to hide the Continent of Mu in the air . . ."
He frowned, realizing what he just described was like taking the Phantom Black's Murian Mind Wave and improving upon it. They were always told that if more of Mu's language could be properly deciphered, the possibilities of the technology the Great Being had to offer were limitless, but the Murian people were satisfied with the advances they had made. Their power had made them content, and they lost the desire to continue deciphering more of it in favor of advancing what they had already learned. Before anyone else could make any difference, the Precursor to Ruin occurred. If these beings from across the stars, whatever they were, had been here this long, they wouldn't have had nearly as many years to decipher the language as they had, but they may have devoted more time to it despite that. If that were possible, then the heralds guarding Mu itself could be more powerful than the ones they faced at the holy grounds.
"We aren't headed in that direction, right now, though. I'm no fool - the lines connect well enough to know that I'm walking directly into a trap by ascending the stair cases beyond. Your job will likely be complete, as I highly doubt they intend on letting me leave their clutches very easily - you won't have any need to chaperone an either captured, crippled, or deleted Murian. What they have done makes my blood boil - for their crimes, I must at least try. All would be for naught if I didn't."
He turned towards the yellow wave emission, instead. "We go this way, instead. Stick close to me, even when the waves are so dense you cannot see anything. You'd better not slow me down."
Burai stepped onto the Wave Emission. To Feint, it looked like the Wave Road suddenly just got sliced off, and a powerful stream of waves darted off in one direction. As Burai stepped across it, he was shrouded in those high-density waves and blasted forward at the speed of light - he was gone in a flash.

Wasn't much to say about that, then. A floating continent though, that was just hard to picture. Still not the strangest thing she'd seen today. She rolled her eyes at his demand not to slow him down. She'd have pointed out that she hadn't done that yet, but he was already gone.
Nothing to do but follow, Feint stepped into the Emission as well to be led into the high-density waves ahead.

The fog on the other end of that first Wave Emission was already multiple times denser than what was at the entrance. Feint would notice strange, unrecognizable figures floating through the mist, and it took a moment before it became more evident what they were.
They were Viruses - or, at least, they fit the usual bill of what a Virus would be. A small, relatively weak but ultimately pestering EM Being, traveling around in clumps with others of their kind. They seemed to give Burai a wide berth, as if aware of his strength, but eyed Feint with more and more intensity as Burai lead her down more twisting paths, up random stair ways, across large pits, over warp paths no more than a few inches apart rather than entire miles, and through crisscrossing rooms and pathways of all styles.
Finally, a small group of viruses closed in on her, five in total, after Burai had left just a step ahead of her. They had apparently been tailing just behind the two and got brave enough to jump on Feint.
Burai paused on the other side of the warp panel, turning back to watch the Viruses close in on her. He frowned, not wanting to be slowed down by the little things, and about as uninterested in watching Feint basically kill them instantly as he could have been about anything else. All it would serve to do was slow them down.
"Hmph. I'll let this be your call. Deal with the viruses on your own, or I'll deal with them now."

#s://i~imgur~com/8w4a7DV~png Feint shoved the EM Viruses off of herself and unholstered her gun as she turned back to her admirers -- her intentions plain and clear here.
" I'll take care of myself. Leave directions if you don't want to wait up. "
Nothing was necessarily over too quickly with her, but some residual energy in the suit at least gave her some fire power to fight back with -- a warning shot to the sword-wielding virus should have gotten the point across that, if they wanted to get down and dirty, she wouldn't to turn them down.

The viruses got the memo clearly enough, and Burai seemed content enough to let her handle it on her own, although was respectful enough to stay behind. He knew simply leaving instructions was pointless - you had to be able to visualize the path to get to where it was taking you.
The Gooey virus plopped down, disappearing into its little storm drain, but was seemingly able to move about despite having disappeared into a hole in the ground. Despite being one-dimensional, the virus didn't appear underneath the Wave Road; it was as though it simply disappeared. Once it was farther away from her, it suddenly popped its head up and spewed thick globules of black water in all directions.
The two floating boxes rotated around, getting in the way of her gunshot, but not before her little warning fire gravely offended the sword-wielding virus in question. Quick as lightning, the stone surrounding it fell away and its true details were revealed, sword drawn, and it was before her, slashing. As quick as it had moved, it was gone again, returned to stone right in front of her. As the boxes moved, they slowly rotated about, that dangerous, ominous red mark constantly coming into view but never quite landing up straight. It was like watching a pair of deadly dice being thrown in slow motion.
The little shuriken virus happily blipped around the battlefield, apparently very fast, but settled for suddenly picking itself up and using its momentum to get itself into a good spin, launching itself at her in a wide arc.

Okay on second thought, this was probably going to take a little longer than she'd liked, and much longer than Burai would like. But she was in it now: she shot for one of the cubes this time, having to still adhere to her usual paradigm, then gave herself a moment to consider how she was even going to blast through this crowd in a more timely manner than her preferred approach.
The real irony was that this was actually a difficult challenge by her standards. She was reminded of her earlier encounters with the Wave Beings when her suit spent most of the time uncharged by their attacks -- but this time it was because they actually just didn't pack enough of a punch rather than them having an unfamiliar make up.

To say that the Desolation was overkill would have been an understatement - the little floating cube got utterly annihilated by the force behind the launch, crashing into a million tiny pieces on the Bermuda Maze floor before dispersing into wave energy.
The blast of intense energy generated by the viruses death filled the air with an intense static, which Feint would immediately recognize as hyper dense Noise from her interactions with Burai thus far. The air space here seemed to respond to it a lot more readily than the areas before this one, and the viruses seemed to be able to absorb the ambient energy, their attacks becoming slightly more deadly in response.
The remaining viruses were emboldened by this, however, and went forward to continue their own assault against her. True to the virus paradigm, they definitely didn't have much force behind their attacks, and could only be deemed even remotely dangerous in hordes.

The dense noise was hard not to notice, and it certainly slowed her down more than she was expecting going into it. The Virus Attacks met similar results, but for now she'd need to wait for her gun's basic cartridge to recharge before firing again, and there wasn't much to do in the meantime but to let them strike some more in vain attempt to gather more energy in her suit to discharge through the weapon.

Things were certainly about to get noisy now: with her magazine recharged and the aid of a rare chip in her arsenal, Feint shot the remaining Guardian and stepped forward to swing the chip at the sword-wielding virus as if she were trying to give it a paper-cut, only for a blade of pure energy to be formed by the trinket to cut the enemy down without remorse.
The noise would be immense afterward, but it was a necessary cost to trimming down their numbers.

Surely enough, the results were pretty much the same - the force behind her attacks burned off a lot of excess energy as they blasted viruses apart, leaving dense pockets of Noise behind due to the residual power. These pockets of Noise rose to levels so extreme that it caused her legitimate harm to simply be too close to it, not to mention the sensation of her body randomly generating new ailments due to the static, unpredictable nature of the Noise around her.
Perhaps far more pressing than any other concern of the Noise, though, was that the high density Noise in the air seemed to be absorbed by the little storm drain Virus. When it next popped its head out of the ground, it had absorbed so much energy that its color had shifted, and the power it exuded was much, much greater.

The greater the Noise is, the more the noise seems to destabilize and petter out. That doesn't stop it from still being highly dangerous, of course, it just means that it won't stay this way for too long, unless Feint continues her current strategy.
The green drainpipe popped back up again, having absorbed enough Noise to evolve once again, the droplets of rain it ejected out of its spout all the more lethal for its rise in energy. The more powerful viruses seemed more in tune with the Noise around them, but the ShuriKunai was still rinsing and repeating its usual tactics of moving around rapidly before finding a good place to throw itself back at her.
