#s://i~imgur~com/8w4a7DV~png She blocked the Remnant's attacks just like the rest, as unceremoniously as it sounded, but was certainly feeling the brunt more than she expected, and the weight of the ceiling was quite real alright, to boot. This suit was built to handle network-busters though, and even her bare abdomen had eaten one of those in the past as a matter of fact.
She raised her forearms in reaction the Phantom Black's personal attack, but was sent tumbling back by the blow unexpectedly. It wasn't anything detrimental at least, so she climbed back to her feet and reclaimed her position after she found her bearing. There was an unfamiliar tickling feeling on her forearm afterward, though. She looked at it to see what it could be, but saw nothing there.
" ... "
She must have been bleeding under the suit.
Fortunately there was no outward sign of that, but she'd need to be much more wary of what she simply allowed to strike her. Kissing up to Hestian Host was sounding more and more appealing now, but Cherish wasn't that type and it was pretty likely the Host wouldn't have wanted the type either. She had to appreciate the second chance she was given though: she'd be in the dirt if not for the deity, there was no doubt about that.
Suddenly though, she found herself in a setting that was much reminiscent of that kidnapping scene in Aqua Net. The short of it was that a, for lack of better term, "dark themed" guy kidnapped a girl and Cherish was among those to respond. In the end, Warrior blew half the network up to take out the culprit, but ended up catching both herself and another unrelated girl in the blastzone.
" Oh, please. "
Being deleted was pretty traumatic, there was no doubt about that: she almost physically died as a result of it. With enough medical attention and plenty of time to recover (6 months to be exact), she was up and moving again. But a rather important factor was that in the original scene, she wasn't wearing her suit, and she was most certain that none of that would have transpired the way it did otherwise. It wasn't her own misdeed to regret though; if anything she was more angry by how it all went down than anything else, as it was the catalyst to Jacob Rayner actually growing stronger than her during the downtime.
" I can take anything they could have thrown at me back then. I've been pretty bitter about this for a pretty long time, too, so I don't even mind settling the score. "
Her weapon was sufficiently charged by The Remnant's strikes, enough that she could fire lethal shots at the specters of both Merrill and Warrior -- something she had no issue doing right away while leaving the other two alone for now.
" Let's see how true you are to your own source material. "

The Phantom Black's laughter was the only thing that maintained through the illusion, as well as the blisteringly cold wind that he created with each movement of his cape. More wounds opened up on her, unbidden and unseen, as he seemingly flitted about her without worry. It was impossible to pinpoint his location through the madness of her own mind, which had its own things she had to contend with.
Warrior and Merrill were bickering over how to move forward; over what to do and how to do it. She and the young girl were back, exactly where she remembered they were, but there was one detail that was incorrect -
- the young girl was replaced by Solo. Not Burai: Solo. His human form was even more bloodied than the last she would remember seeing his Wave Form, gashes open on his face and clumps of his hair had been torn out, resting in between the knuckles of his balled-up fists.
And Feint was found outside of her suit, just as she remembered it.
The dark figured taunted them about his captives, and Warrior took the initiative that no one else could. He pushed Merrill aside, wound up his network-busting strike, and launched it directly at the duo of Feint and Solo, as well as the dark figure holding them captive.
It was poetic, in a way. It became evident to her what her options were, as the figure seemed to lose his grip on the pair. She could run and save her own life, or step in between the network busting blast and Solo.
The mind would tell her that the blast would be fatal, as it remembered it as such. The body, however, may be able to maintain even after being hit by such an attack . . . how would the two compromise?
"Hahahahahahehahehahahah! What a wonderful twist!"

#s://i~imgur~com/8w4a7DV~png The scene changed once again as the illusion continued taking over her mind.
She was in her regular clothes now, just as before, exposing the wound on her arm that the suit veiled just moments ago.
" Ngh! "
More wounds appeared as the memory demanded continuity to how it originally happened: poison infiltrated her bloodstream from the thorny whip digging into her flesh, wrapped around her waist and binding her arms and shoulders to her side. Her veins looked like black tree branches beneath her skin, the paralyzing sting dragging her right back down memory lane about as aggressively as it could.
This was the original scene, indeed. It was surprising how quickly and accurately it could paint itself despite her being entirely aware that it was an illusion -- there was no downplaying that. The details retroactively worked themselves into place: her clothing stained in red from her wounds, but the black acid circulating her veins contributing to the dye too as it completed its course all the way to the exit point of those same wounds.
The only difference now was that her co-captive was Solo rather than Xylia.
Looking down beneath her feet, Solo was certainly not there. She even swept her feet to ensure her eyes weren't simply lying to her, but no, by some manner or another, Solo was taking Xylia's place in the illusion., and as far as she was aware, he was not on the ground underneath her anymore.
" Would be a great time to wake up now, kid. "
She inaudibly winced at her pain, like a muted yelp as the thorns dug deeper, as if she were punished for speaking. Her shaking hands closed and opened, as though her fingers were checking to see if she could still feel her gun between them from outside of the illusion. But no -- the weapon and her suit were both as absent as they were back on that day.
" You're a real piece of ****, you know that?! "
She called out to the air as if Phantom Black could hear her -- a final taunt in attempt to get him to reveal himself, vain as it was.
" Spare the fireworks, boys. We all know you don't have it in you, so no need to waste any time. "
She heard her own voice populating the memory, despite saying nothing this time around. Illusory Merrill dropped his charge after her taunt, just as she remembered, but Illusory Warrior continued holding his. The dimmed lighting of the area -- as if the sword he held was absorbing that as well -- felt a bit more threatening in retrospect than she had given it credit for back then, when she was certain he would withdraw.
" Jacob, No! "
Faith's echo was the last thing she heard as the wave of destruction came crashing their way. And in the last possible moment, she felt the kidnapper's grip loosen as his presence vanished entirely, leaving her only a split second to decide how to react.
But there was no decision at all: only instinct could act that quickly.
A curtain of light veiled the destruction that followed, but it also veiled from the rest of the world Feint's final moments -- instinct took over indeed that day when she stepped in front of Xylia before the blast crashed into them. While it didn't spare either of their deletions, it did prevent Xylia's permanent deletion with certainty.
She was fine with the world not knowing about any of that, as it was difficult to explain her action when one considered her prejudice against navis, not to mention her outward persona. Uncreditted deeds were her preference and there were many more in her past, but history's repetition was able to reveal finer details like these that were originally unaccounted for; only Jacob Rayner's perspective was ever recorded.
The pain that followed was indescribable. Flesh being ripped from bone, bone being blown to dust -- despite being in a virtual body at the time, the damage was imitated quite accurately by the sensors to her brain. If she were a navi, her misery would have ended there, but as a human, it got much worse when her consciousness was ripped out of the Cyber World prematurely and she'd live through the trauma all over again. She did, in fact, die that day. But it was only for a few seconds. If one were to look closely enough, they would see a ring of scarred flesh around her head from where the metallic headband of her Pulse Transmission ensemble actually melted into her skin; her hair covered the majority of it, and the slightest amount of makeup hid the portion that extended to her temples and forehead.
And as the past played back, she had much more time to consider her options. Reflex didn't need to decide this time as she knew what was coming well before it got here. Now was a matter of whether she would consciously choose to suffer that agony again; if it was worth it to her to go through it once more for just an uncertain chance of sparing somebody else.
" ! "
She had to admit, stepping in front of the attack for Solo was much easier to validate than it was when she had done the same for Xylia. Perhaps she was still prejudice to a small degree, but protecting a human felt more purposeful -- it complimented who she defined herself as.
What she'd be remembered for would be left to those with the memories, though: if the attack was as fatal as it original was, and if her devices were as limited as they originally were, then the result would also remain as conclusive as it originally had been.
Her own survival was forfeit to fate; its decision to be unveiled when the curtain of light would be pulled away at last.

Solo did not wake up in response to her message. The ripping slash from Warrior's blade came crashing towards her, tearing apart the Network as it flew.
All that was left was his laughter as the curtain of shadow fell.
Feint was not dead. Her body lay, collapsed on the ground, eyes wide open, but unfocused and erratic. Her physical body had not a single scratch on it - not even the scratches she would have remembered sustaining from the Phantom's attacks had she been conscious. Phantom Black looked back at her collapsed body, smirking, as he finally floated back down, flitting next to her and turning his gaze at the still struggling Burai next to her.
Unharmed. Unmoved. Right where she had left him.
He couldn't help but unleash his shrill, high-pitched laugh at the sight before him. The powerful Murian vigilante, the great Burai, come all the way from another dimension to reclaim what was rightfully his, just to bring him down. It was almost laughably easy. For someone who valued his own power so much, to take on so many deities . . . it weakened him.
Phantom Black knocked him over simply by pushing him with his cane, and left the two to their own devices on the floor. He had no need to delete Burai; the issue was solved. His work was done. "Hmph! Proud Murians, through and through, indeed. Once I'm done here, I suppose I could turn you over to those visitors of mine. While they are still working out all of the secrets Mother has to provide - more understanding of her language than any of you ever were - I am sure studying a different application of her technologies in you would provide them a great perspective. With all of their tests on the other Heralds and myself, all should be going according to script . . . "
Cherish's vision went white after a while. The world around her was shrouded in intense light, which could have two implications: Her senses were too overwhelmed to properly give structure to her surroundings . . . or she was dead.
He saw just a few feet ahead of her, his legs hanging over some unseen railing. He was just as she remembered him, and something about this made it seem . . . different from the illusions she just faced. " Cherish . . . You shouldn't be here. "
David turned to look at her, his eyes soft, his voice warm, and the rest of the white world almost too much to bear. " Something terrible is happening. You're right in the middle of it. You let your stubborn head stop you from thinking . . . always bright minded and thoughtful, but too quick and brash. " He shook his head, uncertain, and looked up at her with his fullest sincerity. " I don't claim to know what is happening, that we could meet this way, right now, but you need to get back up. You need to face what it is you are in, and, if nothing else, you need to make it out! "
Whether or not it was his sudden yell that woke her up, or the intense pressure that fell into the room a moment later, she would never know. It was like a rush of adrenaline spiked within her, a sort of primal sense within her very heart that told her that something was amiss; that a dangerous predator had just appeared, and her instincts knew it was unsafe to be asleep.
While whatever haze she had to get over in her process of waking up from an experience so traumatic cleared away, she noticed that the Phantom Black was nowhere to be seen. In his place, an intense pressure had fallen into the room, the air thick with an incredible static.
Burai had found the strength to stand, and then some, apparently. He kneeled just a little ways ahead, the Laplace blade drawn and planted against the floor. He stood up, slowly, from the stance - and it was then that Feint would notice the massive gouge in the temple floor that had just been carved. Like a massive, parting lily, a four-way X had been gouged into the ground, originating at the point where Burai's sword had been lifted from. It spread the length of the floor, following its arc, the rending energy didn't stop from the ceiling, as it seemed to arc up the walls as well.
It wasn't clear what Burai had done, exactly, but her mind was able to sort of reconstruct what had happened: Burai found himself the ability to stand, wielded his blade, and leaped, bringing the sword arcing down overhead into the slash. What happened next was whatever unleashed that wave of energy coming from him . . . and the Phantom Black was no more.
Burai had some incredible energy curling off of his skin. A mixture of an intense, void-like black, that seemed to carry with it the usual force of his Isolation Zone amplified by magnitudes, alongside that familiar red energy licking off of his body that Feint would recognize from their encounters a few times over, now. His power surged up, and even as she stood there, the energy in the air was choking, suffocating, with how dense and powerful it was. She felt weighted down, as though her very being was antithetical to what she was standing within; a lot like she would've felt if ever around Bugged Data in the Net, but much worse.
What happened?

Cherish's eyes dragged her head in the direction of her brother, rolling it from the ground to look at him as he spoke. This one certainly had a different air about him, but after that encounter with the fake illusion of him, she didn't know if she could ever see even the real him the same way. There'd always be that hint of doubt that it was was just another illusion constructed to hurt her deeper than anything else could.
" You need to face what it is you are in, and, if nothing else, you need to make it out! "
" ... "
Her head rolled back to its original spot as she laid there a moment longer to take a deep breathe -- the adrenaline surging as she felt the life still inside of her responding to his call.
When she came to, she made it back to her feet and observed the resolution of the scene around her. It was a bit much to take in, all told, but focusing on her brother's command helped to clear her mind and blot out the details that weren't related.
She looked to Burai; Phantom Black was nowhere in sight and the area looked like it had taken its own share of damage. Two and two weren't hard to put together, but confirmation never hurt.
" ... You alright? "
She made a physical assessment of herself as she spoke -- feeling up any part of herself she couldn't see with her eyes to ensure there were no hidden injuries, which was basically her entire body by virtue of the suit covering it all. She ended with a hand on her temple, the mental tax on her being nothing short of traumatic after all that.

#s://cdn~discordapp~com/attachments/340189121500938240/748019205302910986/unknown~png At first, he didn't quite respond to the sound of her voice. He seemed to be paused in motion, his body unmoving, but the roiling energy continuing to flow off of him like an intense aura of visible power.
His head slowly turned, though, until just the edge of one eye was pointed in her direction. The calculating, knowledgeable and cold stare she was used to was gone - his pupil was stretched wide, the sclera of his eye crimson, and the lines stretched across his irises made him look almost feral.
Somehow, she could tell that he didn't recognize her at that point in time. Whatever was staring at her, while it may have had Burai's face, it did not have his will. The intensity behind his stare gave her the realization that the air in the room, the adrenaline she felt, wasn't because of the Phantom Black anymore - it was some portion of her mind reminding her of basic survival instincts.
This was an apex predator that understood only one thing. Unfortunate for her, she was prey.
" . . . The noise inside of me. It wants to fight you. So, then . . . FIGHT!"
The force of his yell seemed to increase his energy further, the intensity roiling off of him creating a maelstrom of power that was palpable; a literal whirlwind of force simply from being this close to the intensity of the waves coming from him. It was crushing, deadly; it was primal, unchecked.
He swung around, his movements broader and more animalistic, almost as if his body was moving under the commands of something without his trained expertise. Speed meant nothing compared to his fluidity and control, when he usually fought. Now, it was as though all of that was nothing in comparison to the raw power he exuded. Releasing Laplace from his grasp, the large sword began spinning around in the air wildly around him, seemingly just as lost in whatever rage he was, as Burai dashed across the distance to seek after whatever it was he was searching for.
He came at her like a frenzied animal, the dark energy whirling around him peeling off to create a massive storm of fists that seemed to never cease. While Laplace spun dangerously around him, the Crimson in the air only became thicker. She remembered the control, the fluidity, and the time taken into each of his strokes before - that was nonexistent here, any sense of control and focus thrown out for the raw strength he seemed to possess, whirling around and making mad slashes with the broad sword he summoned out of thin air just in time to reach her.
The mad slashes used both hands despite not needing to, and were in erratic directions, unfocused, untrained, as if nothing mattered to him except to see what he was capable of; except to see just what she could take. As she was used to, he suddenly paused just long enough to wind up a powerful strike, the intense purple flames writhing over the edge of the blade as it came crashing down towards her, empowered by his momentum and his fury; usually, a calculated and careful finishing strike. There was nothing calculated about it; if anything, the force required to use it was nonsensical to what he could have done had he taken more care behind it, but, that didn't seem to matter to him. He was like a beast unleashed.
As the blade crashed into the ground, the broadsword released its stored energy in a shower of darkness that washed over the temple, each strike rocking its ancient foundations.
The true threat would be if his force would just rip the space colony apart.
[Crimson Access] By far Burai's most powerful state, Burai accesses the incredible well of power he achieved by absorbing the remaining data left over from his rival's destruction of the Crimson Satellite. The power is supreme and grants an incredible control over bugged data, but is used at the expense of his soul. -- Burai's Main Element becomes Crimson Lv5. Crimson has double the normal effects of Bug Lv5, but the user is always immune to any negative effects produced by the element. Grants access to the Skills: Noise Generator, Emminence, The Ultimate Material, Crimson Core, and The Ultimate Server. Modifies the effects of other skills. Grants access to the Attacks: Crimson Missile, Noise Burst, Meteor Grave Laser, and Jamming Blast. -- Stabilized Access: When activated willfully, Burai must accomplish ? each turn, or else become unstable. -- Unstabilized Access: When ? occurs in battle, or Burai fails to accomplish his goals while access is stabilized, Burai becomes Unstable. While Unstable, Burai is Berserk, and forcefully activates Indie Isolation and Laplace. Burai becomes Stable again in 3 turns, or if defeated while Berserk. During any turn that Burai successfully inflicts damage equal to 50% or more of the target's max health before mitigations, Burai does not tick down this timer. During any turn that Burai lands an attack that would deal 200% or more of the target's max health in a single hit before mitigations, Burai's timer resets. -- This power can never coincide with a Divine Element.
Win Condition: Survive until Burai is no longer Unstable, or force him to 1-HP.
[Isolation Zone] A broken history paved his road to conquest, and all that stand against him must fight in the depths of his isolation. - Burai has no allies. Burai does not benefit from any effect reliant on allies. Burai cannot be intercepted for. - Individuals do not benefit from any ability that is generated by, targets, affects, or is reliant on allies, and treat all effects as though they were fighting alone. No individual may intercept for any other (self-summoned objects are not included), and abilities activated can only affect their user or their enemy. Allies cannot be excluded from effects that would target or affect all enemies. - Offensive interactions based on others are negated.
[Combat Arts] A skillful and capable combatant, Burai performs fluid movements that allow him to strategically chain attacks together in a way that leaves his enemies confounded. - Crimson Access: Burai gains 5 Preemptive Charges. - Burai only ever requires a 1-Turn Charge for any Avoid Separately Attack, and he decides how many hits the attack has on use. Each hit of Avoid Separately strikes at full damage, but must be made as a part of a separate attack slot. - Being struck by any hit of an attack with avoid separately makes any hit that the opponent could not reduce to 0 Damage impossible to avoid. - If all hits of an attack chain in a turn successfully deal damage, Burai applies 1 immediate charge to that attack chain.
[Mu Rejection Barrier] Even without his Isolation Darkness in full effect, Burai has an invisible EM Wave Barrier that blocks attacks that would otherwise injure him. Seemingly with a mind of its own, this transparent, circular disc appears before him as his ultimate defense mechanism. While his defense mechanism is up, aiming attacks directly at him seems to jam and disrupt a navi’s targeting systems, making attacks fly off without hitting their mark. - Crimson Access: The Mu Rejection Barrier automatically prevents all unavoidable damage, not just attacks. - Crimson Access - Unstable: The Mu Rejection Barrier must protect Burai against his Hits All attacks that have the Crimson Element. Can only prevent negative trigger effects against Burai if Burai decides to use an additional negate against the attack. - The Mu Rejection Barrier negates one full attack made against him each turn. This number counts each hit of Avoided Separately as a separate attack, but always fully negates the attack. This does not negate any triggered effects that do not negatively affect Burai. - This number increases per attack slot sacrificed or passed last turn. - If Burai has any negates left with this barrier during a turn, he automatically ignores any C-Range Attack, as well as any attack modified by any active skill, without losing negates from the barrier.
[Indie Isolation] A power given to he who has forsakened all bonds, Burai channels the incredible power of the Indie Isolation through his body, empowering his already potent defenses, speed, and equipping him with a mighty broad sword. - Crimson Access: Burai's C-Range attacks gain an additional 100% of his base damage. - Crimson Access - Unstable: Burai's C-Range attacks can only possess one basic aimer. If they would not gain omni-aimers, they instead do not have aimers. - Burai can only use half of his attack slots to attack while active. Burai’s Mu Rejection Barrier negates three full attacks made against him in a turn. Grants the skills Weapon Focus, Vital Strike, Devastating Finish, Wave Slicer, Keen Edge, and Blade Works.
[Laplace] Burai summons forth his most powerful weapon, and his only accepted ally: Laplace, a sentient blade, and an ancient artifact of the Murian people. The Laplace Blade has the ability to absorb the energy of the EM Beings created by Mu, as well as many other murian artifacts, making Laplace his most powerful tool. - Crimson Access: Attacks with Laplace's use cannot be Interrupted. Burai fires a Crimson Missile each time Laplace uses Spin Blade. Does not grant Divine Edge or the Divine Blade Element. - Crimson Access - Unstable: Burai's Attacks with Laplace must be charged as long as Burai can before release. - Burai gains access to his attacks that specify Laplace’s use. Grants the skills Blade Fury, and Wave Arc. - While active, Burai can redistribute charges among any attacks with fewer than 3 required charges, as well as any free uses granted by attacks, but can still only apply 1 charge to an attack per turn. Any attacks charged take up 2 actions to charge on their first turn.
[Preemptive charges applied to Murian Blade Combat, Murian Knuckle, Murian Blade Burst, True Finisher, Murian Burst]
[Bond Isolator] Burai stands as the antithesis to bonds, loyalty, friendship, teamwork, and every other feasible idea of companionship. When fought against, Burai uses his strange power, the ability to pull energy directly from the empty voids within the human heart, to isolate even armies risen against him. - When fighting against only one enemy, if they do not lock all Mega Chip uses, Burai can treat that enemy as though they fought alongside a number of allies equal to the number of mega chip uses they refuse to lock.
[Wave Ride Boosters] Burai’s boots are equipped with a set of verniers that can shoot bursts of EM Energy, allowing him to move freely in all directions. These boosters take advantage of his already advanced senses and capabilities, enabling a wide variety of high-impact attacks and agile maneuvers, making his movements and attacks near impossible to respond to. - Burai evades attacks in any order. Burai is unaffected by effects that require him to avoid multiple times. Burai does not trigger any opposing effects that would trigger from him avoiding his opponent’s attack. - Burai does not trigger any opposing effects that would trigger from an opponent avoiding his attacks. An opponent may not augment their avoids to respond to his attacks. - Burai may spend an additional attack slot alongside any attack to increase its final damage by 100% per AS sacrificed. - Burai may spend an additional attack slot alongside any attack to increase its total number of required avoidances by 1. Has no effect on Avoid Separately.
[Wave Predictor] His visor detects ambient energy flowing from his enemies and displays information about EM Energy present in his surroundings. By tracking the flow of energy, this allows him to predict an opponent’s movement. In this world, he must first flood some of his own energy into an opponent to force them to emit EM energy as they move. - Each full avoidable attack that hits a target grants that attack +1 Hit until the attack misses. This can apply to avoided separately. - When avoiding the same attack in a turn, each sacrificed Attack Slot allows him to evade one additional instance of that attack.
[Auto Charges: Murian Blade Burst 2/5, Laplace Slash 1/5, True Finisher 2/5, Noise Burst 1/2, Murian Combat 1/4, Crimson Missile 1/1]
1. [Murian Knuckle] An attack used at a distance, Burai releases a barrage of flaming fists that arc across the battlefield. Chained dangerously together with his martial fluency, Burai can have this storm of fists flying as he assaults foes head-on. -- 2,240 Crimson/Dark S-Attack Damage. -- Breaks Shields, Undodgeable -- Hits All. Is used after every attack this turn. -- 1 Turn Required Charge. If any hits, can be used for free next turn.
2. [Murian Blade Combat] x12 A series of well-placed sword strikes performed by a master of the arts. -- 5,680 x4 Blade C-Attack Damage. Avoided Separately. 1-Turn Charge. -- Breaks Shields -- Attack Slots cannot be sacrificed to augment this attack. It instead gains an additional +15% of Burai’s base damage per time it is used in succession, and gains additional effects based on the numbers of times used. Cannot be Naturally Avoided, Cannot be Countered, Hits up to 1 Additional Targets, Reduces Armor by 60 for 4 turns, Destroys: Auras, Destroys: Barriers, Requires 1 Additional Avoids, Cannot be Mitigated below Base Damage, Reduce Damage by half to add all damage to one Finisher used after this chain, Hits one target 4 additional times (these additional hits are not avoided separately).
== Murian Knuckle x12 ==
14. [Martial Finisher] A burst of flames surrounds his foot as he performs a bicycle kick, a resolute and astounding finisher to any series of martial attacks. -- 11,660 Blade C-Attack Damage. -- Cuts Auras -- Ignores Armor less than 1,000. Cannot be Countered. Cannot be Naturally Avoided. -- Gains effects per attack slot sacrificed with its use. -- Is treated as the final attack in any one avoid separately attack chain. If this attack is used outside of an attack chain, gains all of the damage and effects of Murian Fist.
== Murian Knuckle ==
15. [Murian Burst] A powerful, smashing strike into the ground that releases a radiating burst of energy from all sides, picking up enemies and sending them away. -- 2,990 Crimson/Dark S-Attack Damage. -- Hits All, Unavoidable, Opponents can use Panel Immunity effects to negate the Unavoidable effect. -- Breaks Shields, Cuts Auras, interrupts avoidances, cannot be countered, cannot be naturally avoided, Isolate, Ruin, requires 1 additional avoidance per attack negated via Mu Rejection Barrier this turn. -- 1 Turn Required Charge. If hits, can be used for free next turn.
[Isolate] - For 2 turns, afflicted target cannot benefit from or summon additional HP Entities. [Ruin] - Is always avoided separately from all other effects of the attack, per avoidance required by the attack. If responded to with an HP Entity, instantly destroys one per avoidance this effect requires. For 1 turn, afflicted target takes 10% of their Max Health each time the use a multi-target attack without targeting an ally. If the afflicted has no allies, inflicts 20% of their maximum health as additional unavoidable damage. Does not possess post infliction immunity.

" ?! "
She felt her body instinctively tightening at the threat before she even fully realized it was there. But when Burai turned to look at her like that, there was no doubt about it: she was marked.
" . . . The noise inside of me. It wants to fight you. So, then . . . FIGHT!"
" Is that so? "
There was a calmness in her demeanor now -- back in a comfort zone of fighting someone directly rather than in her mind. Even if Burai was much stronger than her, this was still her ballpark at the end of the day.
She raised her arms to cover her face as he lashed out at her -- but surprisingly, most of the blows were to her torso. Were he in his sane mind, he'd noticed that, despite her suit still absorbing the attacks, it didn't transfer that energy to her weapon unless the blow was taken at the forearm. It made more sense why she always blocked that way then, and also why she left her head exposed: if she knew what her enemy was going to target, she knew in advance where she needed to block.
The purple static sparked and hissed as each blow landed, but ultimately fizzled out and even drained some of the energy she had stored from previous encounters. With enough misplaced blows, the suit wouldn't be more than a sexy outfit after being bled dry. But as the final strike came, a familiar barrier materialized around Feint to neutralized it entirely -- the energy behind the blow still somehow being absorbed by her suit despite not being blocked at the wrists.
It was his own Mu Rejection Barrier protecting her.
She did tell him that certain entities were capable of replicating what they saw, though she wasn't among them herself. The suit had simply adapted to the Wave World during its time interacting with it and, as a result, produced a defense appropriate to deal with what it faced. It was an uncanny adaptation, for sure, but it was her trump card for a reason.
Her options now were to either outlast this berserk state or subdue it, but anybody that knew her would know well in advance which of the two she'd opt for.
" I guess I'll just have to beat it out of you, then. "
She didn't strike back, of course. Rather, she lowered her arms and stood open, as if inviting him to attack again.
" You know how I fight. Swing harder. "

{- ° She cannot be intercepted for - ° She does not benefit from allies - ° She has no allies - ° She only benefits from self-sourced, self-triggered effects - ° Feint can negate 5 Attacks per turn} Murian Rejection Barrier -- Core A mysterious, impregnable defense that seems to spawn of its own volition before Feint, springing forward to protect her from any source. The depths of her isolation reaches a new height, fully isolating her from any force. The Crest of Mu appears on her chest upon accepting this power. ° The Murian Rejection Barrier negates one attack that would otherwise hit the Feint each turn. This is a non-avoidance effect, and cannot be interacted with by any source. ° Triggered effects that do not negatively affect Feint are still triggered from negated attacks. While this Barrier always negates full attacks, attacks with Avoid Separately or Additional Required Avoidances will reduce its total effective attacks as appropriate. ° The number of attacks negated is increased by 1 for each of the following Locks accepted. These must be stated at the start of combat, and cannot be changed once selected: -- Feint cannot be intercepted for -- Feint does not benefit from any abilities and effects created by allies -- Feint has no allies in combat, preventing her from intercepting for others or targeting other entities with effects that would benefit allies. Any effect that scales based off of allies in effective. -- Feint does not benefit from interactions based on another's actions; she can only benefit from self-sourced, self-triggered abilities. ° Costs 3 Isolation Fragments

The notice of his own technology seemed to not much phase him. If anything, the fact that she was still standing after his all-out assault - even going so far as to taunt him - emboldened him. Roaring in fury, he unleashed the tempest of power he seemed to be building up, as some incredible force limited the power that Feint was able to express. While she may not understand it, she would have to bow to it.
What came next was a blur, as the energy wrapping around his body once again formed into little fists of the dark purple energy that was the essence of his destructive force. The incredible energy roiling off of him as he approached her seemed intensified by the increased destructive energy that he radiated, almost like his very being was antithetical to hers, the air trying to force him away and him forcing himself into being. His fists began flying, as he lifted up his knees and whirled around his elbows to use his body as a blunt weapon; as he spun, at some point he retrieved his sword again, and started slashing wildly at her, his face stretched into a silent screech. As his fists flew and sword slashes swung, his body exploded with dark energy in all directions, crashing blows of energy curling off of his weapons and his body in response to the force he wielded.
Laplace spun wildly around him at all times, responding to the growing energy and the distractions it caused to charge in and slash at Feint. As the Laplace Blade flew, the dense energy around its arc was clumped together and strangely took shape, as Feint watched the waves condense and take form into physical matter - an array of missiles to join alongside the swinging blade and flying fists.
When his constant swinging, and the energy blasting off of it from the force in them, was finally over, Burai suddenly leaped backwards, aiming his foot in his signature bicycle kick right at the top of her head, the impact of his foot into the ground sending up a massive array, almost trident like - very similar to the formation in the ground, but, missing one additional directional burst to be quite right. He was still capable of more.
Win Condition: Survive until Burai is no longer Unstable, or force him to 1-HP. 1/3 Turns.
[Burai HP=94,360/94,360]
[Burai has 2,100 Armor]
[Murian Knuckle] - Taken for 140 Damage x15. [Murian Burst] - Negated via Mu Rejection Barrier.
[Burai HP=92,260/94,360]
[Regen] - Burai restores +2,020 Health.
[Eminence] The conduit prides itself with power above baser creatures and will stand strong to prove itself against all adversaries. No force can stand against it without testing its fury. - ? - ? - ? - By expending one use from this skill per attack affected, Burai may use the selected attack the turn it finishes charging, amplifying its damage by 1.5x per turn of charge applied. This is an aiming effect. - By expending three uses from this skill, Burai ends a target opponent's Advanced Form. The Advanced Form enters a Cooldown equal to the total number of turns it was active and may be reactivated after this cooldown has expired (with its total remaining turns still in effect). - ? -- 25 Uses/Battle. Used three times to forcefully end Feint's Hyper Mode, sending it into a single turn of cooldown. Used four times: Once on Noise Burst, once on Murian Blade Burst, once on True Finisher, used once on Murian Combat.
[Burai HP=94,360/94,360]
[Murian Knuckle gains +15 Hits. Free use of Murian Knuckle acquired. Charge on Laplace Slash moved to Murian Combat.]
[Blade Fury] Burai uses his incredible speed and skill to unleash a flurry of attacks on his opponent, all the while the Laplace blade launching itself about. -- Each C-Range attack with three or more turns of charge, or used after sacrificing half or more of his attack slots triggers Spin Blade twice, so long as Laplace is not used to modify the attack further.
[Auto Charges: Murian Blade Burst 3/5, Laplace Slash 1/5, True Finisher 3/5, Noise Burst 2/2, Murian Combat 3/4, Crimson Missile 1/1]
1. [Murian Knuckle] An attack used at a distance, Burai releases a barrage of flaming fists that arc across the battlefield. Chained dangerously together with his martial fluency, Burai can have this storm of fists flying as he assaults foes head-on. -- 2,240 * 15 Hits Crimson/Dark S-Attack Damage. -- Breaks Shields, Undodgeable -- Hits All. Is used after every attack this turn. -- 1 Turn Required Charge. If any hits, can be used for free next turn.
2. [Noise Burst] An incredible well of intense crimson that cripples everyone around its user. -- 0 Crimson S-Attack Damage -- Hits All -- Truly Unavoidable. This attack cannot be negated or stopped by any source. -- Inflicts 840 Unavoidable Damage per turn for 7 turns. Pierces immunities. Cannot be cleansed on the first three turns of infliction. This damage cannot be healed while this status is in effect. Executes enemies reduced to 0 HP by this effect. -- Glitch: Burn, Poison, Berserk, Freeze. Cannot be cleansed on first two turns of infliction. -- 2-Turn Required Charge, 5-CD.
== Murian Knuckle ==
3. [Murian Fist] A single, resounding uppercut, empowered by the dark energy resonating around his fist, which intensifies the loneliness within one's heart. -- 3,580 Dark C-Attack Damage. -- Breaks Shields -- An additional instance of any HP-Avoidance must be active to evade this attack, or an additional avoidance use from any single attack avoid must be paid. -- If this attack is affected by an HP-Entity summoned by its intended victim, it inflicts Disconnect on the HP-Entity and its summoner. -- Gains effects based on Attack Slots sacrificed.
Disconnect: For 2 turns, the affected entities treat any effect that the HP- or Allied-Entity would provide in its reverse. Reduced damage is increased, avoided attacks strike an additional time per avoidance, increased armor is decreased, etc.
== Murian Knuckle ==
[Martial Fluidity] A skillful combatant knows not only the flow of the arts he has mastered, but how to flow multiple arts together. -- Affected Combo Attacks are treated as though they were used as part of the same attack chain, and were used consecutively alongside one another. --- 5/8 Uses/Battle remaining. Used on Murian Combat, Murian Blade Combat, and Murian Blade Burst.
[Darklight Harvester] An incredible dark power that resonates from Burai's hand, channeled into high-density bursts of dark wave energy. -- Any attack can be charged additional turns over its required charge to gain effects. --- 1 Charge: Releases an S-Attack with its damage and "Hits All" on use. Gains full damage for the total turns of charge applied. --- 2 Charges: S-Attack gains Cannot be Naturally Avoided and upgrades all Aimers to Omni-Aimers. --- 3 Charges: Disrupts Multi-Instanced avoidances. Can target its primary target up to two additional times at half damage, avoided separately. --- ?

Avoided Separately. 1-Turn Charge. -- Cuts Auras -- Attack Slots cannot be sacrificed to augment this attack. It instead gains an additional +10% of Burai’s base damage per time it is used in succession, and gains additional effects based on the numbers of times used. Cannot be Naturally Avoided, Cannot be Countered, Ignores Armor, Hits up to 1 Additional Targets, Reduces Armor by 10 for 2 turns, Destroys: Auras, Destroys: Barriers, Requires 1 Additional Avoidance, Cannot be Mitigated below base damage.

[Crimson Missile] x2 The conduit condenses a field of crimson to form a missile that it launches at enemies. Different colored bands across the missile inform those of the powers they wield, and different sizes are also used for greater force. - 2,390 1st: Fire, Burn | 2nd: Toxic, Poison S-Attack Damage -- Fully Undodgeable. Cannot be Intercepted. -- For each enemy targeted by this Attack, the Crimson Dragon selects an element. That enemy responds to this attack as though it possessed the appropriate element. If any Status Effects are tied to the element, the attack gains those effects. -- Can be optionally charged for 1 turn. Multiple instances of this attack can be charged at once. -- This attack targets one additional target per 2 enemies beyond the first.

" Ugh! "
The new force caused her to break her posture instantly, raising her hands again to defend as if by instinct. And she was fortunate for that, too: Burai's and Laplace's responding assault was much more brutal than before. Roughly along the lines of 100 Required Avoids, 26 +1 Instances of Barrier/Aura Breaking, 6 Disrupts, 1 "Truly" Unavoidable (Hack) with specs specifically tailored to her own defensive paradigm & all counterplay turned off, and a partridge in a pear tree. That was her first time salting through RP in quite a while, so if nothing else it was worth a brownie point or two.
~*THUD!*~
Old memes aside, in the end, his foot made impact with her skull with a resounding... well... thud.
" ... "
She didn't flinch, though. If he were in his sane mind, he'd have remembered the first time when he fought her, something similar happened: a bicycle kick to her chin, only to be met with the firmness of a statue upon impact. Her piercing blue eyes shifted upward as her eyelids opened calmly, having only closed to keep the wind of the attack out of the sapphire gems.
" That's more like it. "
The wounds on the suit glowed like residual fingerprints on a light-sensitive surface: there was no presence of the Rejection Barrier on her this time as she simply let the attacks stick where ever they landed, a significant portion of them leaving behind vestigial traces of the kinetic energy that her suit could absorb and redistribute as it pleased.
The resulting charge covering her body was much like what had occured during their fight with the condor: energy compressed so tightly that it became more of a burden than a blessing to contain. But as she had hinted in their encounter with the lochness lake-monster, she had conspired a way to utilize this before the impairment wore her down too much.
And the final reminder would come from the last remaining of the recent encounters, with the Yeti, poetically accounting for every battle that they had fought together up to this point as all the separate displays of her abilitiy would accumulate into her finest hour.
She knelt down, as if getting ready for a sprint. This was the only real telegraph she gave of what came next, paired with her demeanor as serious as ever.
" Snap out of it. "
*Vroosh!*
She made the motion as if taking a large leap, but rather than travelling anywhere, she vanished from sight in that moment.
*Bang-Bang-Bang!*
Reappearing again, she unloaded her weapon at Burai. She was confident he could handle her unrestrained force, so that's what she gave. She vanished again just a moment later: the pattern not the same as when they fought the Yeti, but the resemblance undoubtedly pointing to her Phantom Waltz. This time with a gun.
*Bang!* *Bang!* *Bang!* *Bang!* *Bang!* *Bang!* *Bang!* *Bang!* *Bang!* *Bang!* *Bang!* *Bang!*
The muzzle flashes were like strobe-lights in the darkened temple: Feint disappearing in the faint shadows not only by virtue of her dark colored suit, but by its temporarily-enabled feature to warp her chaotically around the space in its overcharged state. The gunfire came from all directions until the energy that had fueled it was completely spent.
The option to wait out his rage was long gone now -- she ultimately didn't have the durability to outlast that. If it was a test of endurance then, her best bet was wearing him down by fighting back, which she could do so long as he continued to swing.
There weren't many more assaults like that last one that she would be able to handle before going down herself, though.
" Don't go human on me now. "
Murians should have been superior, right? She wasn't the pep-talking type, but anything that'd get him to speak again was worth trying at this point.

As the attacks come flying at Burai, and the force of his own assault causes his unique defense to flare up to protect him from his own dangerous energy, Burai's boots ignite in fury as he finds his way about the battlefield, managing to blast the verniers about in multiple different directions in fractions of a second to propel him around her rapidly firing gun shots. Despite all of this, one single hit made impact. It seemed to wind him, and hit with enough force to even push him back - but he recovered, and just kept moving at her all the same.
It was impressive on any scale, no less for someone in a complete state of rage and incomprehensiveness. What came next, however, was perhaps more dangerous, if not still somewhat strange - the energy coalescing around Burai seemed to forcefully leach into her body, causing her to feel a crippling pressure stretch against her limbs and force her body into a state of severe pain, the weight of the air too much to carry. Exerting this pressure on her seemed to drain him, as he seemed to stop moving for the first time; whether or not this was forceful or intentional in the beast's attempts, it was nonetheless dangerous.
Win Condition: Survive until Burai is no longer Unstable, or force him to 1-HP. Resets due to landing True Finisher. 1/3 Turns.

" Tch. "
To be fair, she didn't expect it to be too fruitful, but she managed to force movement out of it, and she saw how she could have struck more effectively. That opportunity was behind her now though, and yet another surge of energy lashed out to eat away at her, but a force emitting from her suit neutralized the threat entirely. The suit itself looked quite deteriorated by the procedure, but the residual energy stored inside of it seemed to stitch it back together where there was wear. It had never come that close to being torn before, and fortunately for her, Burai seemed to slow down with the punching finally.
" ... Are you back? "
Well he didn't look any less angry, but if he wasn't uncontrollably attacking her (nor Laplace either), perhaps he was starting to get some degree of control over himself. Which meant he probably didn't need any more taunting if her voice was somehow getting through -- unlikely as it was, she'd have to take the chance that it was working, as the reward outweighed the risk if he was able to get subdue this aggression influencing him.
" Solo? You in there? "
She didn't swing back either -- not that she really could, having spent it all during her last bout. But she remained poised nonetheless: he wasn't one that she wanted to give an opening to if the bloodlust flared up again. It was time to take another stab at the whole "talking him out of the enraged state" approach, by the looks of it, then.
" Um... Keep fighting it? "
No, she really wasn't any good at this sort of thing at all.

The powerful waves of energy came from Feint once again. The first time this had washed over Burai, she had watched all of the energy drain from his body.
During that time, however, they had been in the Network, and his natural Wave Abilities were not working. Another energy rose up within him to combat the attempt at disrupting his own, as instead of losing energy he stored he disrupted energy he was producing.
Her attempts at talking to him were futile, his constant huffing as though out of breath only raising as his anger seemed to peak again. He came charging back at her, now lacking much of the energy of his previous assault, but more than capable still of terrifying feats, as his fist flew, the force of the crimson surrounding his body took up a mind of its own to throw missile after missile at her, despite time and again of having no effect.
The energy coiling around the Laplace blade was what would, of course, be the most concerning. The Laplace blade seemed to be moving wildly about in the air, storing a massive well of dark energy around its edge, as Burai reached up and grabbed it seamlessly from its arc, turned about, and slashed it in her direction.
Despite only one swing, the motion of the arc, blurred and quick, seemed to repeat itself in the air as some sort of trick of the eye; but it was no trick to her body, as she would still feel multiple slashes despite only one swing if she stayed still to take the destruction. The dangers of the blade would leave her wide open for what was to come next.
As the Laplace blade left his grip again, Burai seemed to coalesce all of the energy he had left into a single point, as his body erupted into a light show of bright pink, sending rays of destruction Jamming Crimson in all directions. The pure destructive power was unchoreographed but dangerous beyond compare, even being around the nuclear power causing Feint's very skin to burn.
Win Condition: Survive until Burai is no longer Unstable, or force him to 1-HP. 2/3 Turns.
[Burai HP=25,515/94,360]
[Burai has 2,100 Armor]
[Ability Wave - Power Storage XM] - Whenever an effect would cause one or more charges to be dropped or interrupted, Burai may instead sacrifice autocharges or attack slots instead.
Burai sacrifices 4 of six auto charges to maintain the charges of Laplace Slash and Burai Break. All other charges interrupted.

[Auto Charges: Laplace Slash 4/5. Burai Break Charge moved to Laplace Slash. 5/5 Charged. Use Eminence to use this turn, x7.5 Damage]
- ? -- 17/25 Uses/Battle. Used three times to forcefully end Feint's Hyper Mode, sending it into a single turn of cooldown. Used four times: Once on Noise Burst, once on Murian Blade Burst, once on True Finisher, used once on Murian Combat.
1. [Murian Fist] A single, resounding uppercut, empowered by the dark energy resonating around his fist, which intensifies the loneliness within one's heart. -- 6,580 Base C-Attack Damage. -- Cuts Auras -- An additional instance of any HP-Avoidance must be active to evade this attack, or an additional avoidance use from any single attack avoid must be paid. -- If this attack is affected by an HP-Entity summoned by its intended victim, it inflicts Disconnect on the HP-Entity and its summoner. -- Gains effects based on Attack Slots sacrificed. Ignores Armor, Interrupts, Adds 50% of its final damage to one attack this turn, makes an opponent weak to Burai's attacks for 1 turn, Isolate, Hits up to # Additional Targets, Deals (5 per)% of target’s Max-HP as additional damage, can be counted as the starting hit of an attack chain used this turn.
2. [Crimson Missile] x12 The conduit condenses a field of crimson to form a missile that it launches at enemies. Different colored bands across the missile inform those of the powers they wield, and different sizes are also used for greater force. - 2,390 Crimson S-Attack Damage -- Fully Undodgeable.
[Devastating Finish] A powerful and finishing stroke to end any confrontation. - The selected C-Attack deals 100% Damage. All required avoidances must be made an additional time or suffer 10% of this attack’s damage as unavoidable damage per required avoidance. If this would be applied to an attack with Avoid Separately, doubles the number of this instead. If this attack would trigger a survival effect, it instead executes a victim. Three one-use survival effects can be expended to negate this effect, or 2 turns can be deducted from a User’s Darksoul. -- 7/8 Uses/Battle
14. [Laplace Slash] Requires 2 total avoidances to avoid effects. A slash with the edge of the Laplace blade that leaves a rending phantom wherever it cleaves. -- 134,550 Blade C-Attack Damage. -- Cuts Auras. -- Hits 10 times at full damage, avoided separately. If hits: The next attack cannot be avoided or mitigated. -- Benefits twice from any effect dependent on sacrifice of attack slots.
== Spin Blade == x2
== Crimson Missile == x2
== Darklight Harvester == -- 807,300 Dark S-Attack Damage. -- Cuts Uncuttable Auras. -- Hits All. Cannot be Naturally Avoided. Disrupts multi-instanced avoidances. Targets Feint two more times at half damage, avoided separately.
15. [Jamming Blast] An incredible storehouse of power floods from the conduit's rapidly increasing energy, as they focus this energy into a dense laser of bright pink; the final stage of Crimson's refining process, this form of bugged data has only one purpose: Destruction. -- 21,960 * 6 Hits, Avoided Separately Crimson S-Attack Damage -- Only useable on a turn when an attack with 5 turns of charge applied is released. Gains the benefit of that attack's charge. -- Hits All -- Gains the damage of all Crimson Attacks used alongside it in the same turn. -- Regardless of Success: Damage inflicted by this attack persists as a status effect, split between two turns. Triggers per hit/avoidance of this attack. Pierces immunities. -- Bypasses all mitigation effects, including Gigas. If Hits: Executes. Surpasses all survival effects, including Gigas.

Her grit teeth were showing now as her instinct took over once again to raise her hands and cover her head. He clearly seemed more provoked by her attempts to calm him down -- or at least that's how she interpreted it.
" So stupid, Cherish... "
Cursing herself under her breathe for even trying would change nothing, though.
There was some energy left in the suit to attempt to let it eat his full-on assault again, but even though his energy wasn't quite as channeled this time, it was making quick work of her reservoirs. She maneuvered as best she could around his strikes, but wasn't exactly the most gifted in that department, so she utilized the Mu Rejection Barrier once again to help her in the endeavor.
" !!! "
And yet both Burai and Laplace together tore through it effortlessly.
Fortunately, it held up just long enough that the suit beneath the barrier could still absorb a significant portion of the blows and protect her from the remaining attacks. The residual kinetic charge formed a bubble around her body as the nuclear blast came, pulsing violently like ripples through water as the raw power crashed against it relentlessly. But in the end, it held through once again.
The skimpy garb certainly carried its weight for her, there was no arguing that. The gun... not so much.
Such was her plight, of course. But what the gun provided would have to suffice: it was just a matter of being able to absorb more strikes to fuel it from here on out.

Burai breathed heavily as the light show from his very being died out; with it, it seemed, did his rage die. The energy completely drained from his body, Burai paused for just a moment to slump over . . .
. . . and then just collapse. Rather unceremoniously, he fell to the floor, his wave form melting off of him as he seemed to break down. Laplace landed beside him for but a second before fading away into its pixelated state, leaving Feint alone with Solo collapsed on the temple floor in front of her.
She had done it, then. By surviving the tide of his fury, she had forced all of the overwhelming energy he had built up to dissipate. When he could no longer generate more noise by landing hits on her, his resonance to it became further unstable, and caused it to burn out entirely. Solo looked about as bad as she felt, his body quivering and coated in sweat, but his face lax and unresponsive.
With the Phantom Black gone and Crimson Burai calmed down, Feint was left alone with her thoughts in the temple - but a clear path between her and the relic that Solo had come after. She could still see it, seated on its pedestal in the back of the temple, up an unreasonable amount of stairs.
What to do with her freedom from Burai's rage, and her first true lone fight since this whole endeavor started? Not to mention the recovery from what all happened before any of this . . .

Feint exhaled slowly as the madness died down, almost reminiscent of how one would blow out birthday candles, to deflate the stress that had built up inside of her. It was nothing short of a relief that this was over now, though Solo looked a bit worse for wear and Laplace had retreated from sight as well.
The relic was at the end of a rather long walk of stairs. Solo didn't look in the shape to climb them (but would probably try anyway if he was awake), and Laplace couldn't just absorb it like he had previous times. She figured the least she could do was bring it down so he wouldn't have to make the journey once he did wake up -- frankly, she wasn't sure if she could bear to watch someone as worn out as he was crawling up all of these, but that concern would go undisplayed as always with her.
" Rest up. Been a long day for us. "
She'd grown a lot just in these past few hours, really.
Before moving, she looked over to the spot where she had first seen the apparition of her brother when coming here. Her eyes were as wishful as an abandoned child's on the horizon, naively watching and waiting, hoping for a lost parent to return to them. Though in her case it was her lost brother she was hoping to see there.
" ... "
She closed her eyes after a moment of staring -- an outward, symbolic acceptance of her reality. When she re-opened them, her usual headstrong demeanor filled them again. The battle behind her was over now: she needed to focus on the battle ahead. There were more than a few chords struck within her today, but her character was sharpened by the trials in the end. After another deep exhale, she fixed her gaze back to the prize at the end of the staircase and began her march. The objective was simply to grab it and bring it back here, but having hit many unforeseen roadblocks already, she was confident not to be caught offguard by any more that could be waiting for her ahead.
