" Hmm... "
Faith though to herself for a moment as Grade made his exit. Perhaps she should have seen that misunderstanding coming -- it was more of a human thing than a Navi thing, really. So in the end, she really couldn't blame him for just assuming the worst with what little context he was given.
" Owww... my head... "
" ... Strike? When did you get here? "
Really nobody but Faith would know who this new arrival even was: Strike.EXE was her own personal Net Navi, but he was a bit of a lazy one so didn't go out much. He wore blue jeans, a green jacket, and had spikey brown hair which he seemed to be grasping in pain as he stumbled his way toward his operator from seemingly no where -- incidentally, he also had a very human-esque appearance about him, as was more common than one would think these days.
" Did I win? "
" ... Win what, Strike? "
" The contest. I cut down the biggest tree that I could find, but it fell on my head and a bunch of people had to get it off of me. "
Faith chuckled and shook her head at him, smiling endearingly at his unawareness.
" Strike, that was you?! That event was months ago, silly goose. Everyone around is carrying the trees away, what made you think we were still cutting them down? "
" Shine told me those were the ones they'd just cut down themselves. "
Faith's expression immediately went from a smile to a stern but perplexed frown.
" ... What? "
" Yeah, so to get the biggest prize, I hacked away at the big tree right in the center of the park and eventually managed to bring it down, but that sucker held a vendetta and took me down with it. "
" S-Strike! That one is practically a monument! You didn't! "
" Oh... that explains why the Event Coordinator was asking for so much money to pay for the damages. "
" ! "
" I told him you were my operator, but that didn't really change his mind. You have a bunch of money, right? "
With wide eyes, Faith looked back in the direction Shine had departed to just moments ago -- far off in the distance, she would see the mischievous girl wearing a sinister smile while looking back at her, waving goodbye, and getting the last laugh as she turned and went sprinting out of the area.
" SHIIIIIINE!!! "
Whether it was because the prank had gone too far or because she had been played like a fiddle, Faith was back in her angry-mode as she gave chase to the wily trickster to settle yet another score. She was zero for two now, and that just wouldn't do!
