∞ Intro, 5 Battle, ∞ Extro Story Version OFF, V1 Judge ON, Shared Letter Grade
"How many trees do you think there are here? I estimate around five hundr-- at least three thousand? Wow, that's a lot." At the middle of a server-wide voluntary tree-cleaning operation, Grade stood there, between so many huge trees getting carried towards the same direction, like a weird tree herd of sorts. An outer circle in his right-ear crest glowed white. Probably a call indicator. He stared at the direction where all the trees are going, tuning out all the sounds of footsteps and focusing on the call. "You're carrying a tree right now, aren't you? No, you grunted and, and now you're breathing heavily. Need help? Where are you right now? Huh? What do you mean 'move out of the way'? Actually, why am I hearing in you in my other ea--" Got positively bonked by a huge tree from behind. After recovering from reeling forward, he turned around, scratching the back of his head. "Agh... birch trees and pine... Watch where you're going will you?" Intro

#s://i~imgur~com/AESZGIl~png Behind him, Grade would find the all too familiar spysuit-clad trouble-maker herself: Shine. Except her back was turned to him after having dropped her tree on his head and she was accompanied by another woman that appeared to be giving her quite the scolding.
" I don't want to hear about any more trouble from you this time, missy. There were a lot of people upset at what happened during the Christmas Event between you and your friend -- if it happens again, you're in big trouble. "
The scene was not unlike a mother admonishing a young child, but in actuality those terms would almost perfectly describe Faith Nymphra and Shine in any other setting.
" Ugh, fine mom! "
Faith snapped her fingers and pointed at Shine's snide remark.
" Any more of that cheek and I'll take you over my knee! "
" Hmph! "
Shine begrudgingly picked up the tree she'd dropped and went on to help clean up the park -- it was becoming clear that she didn't voluntarily sign up for this event, but rather Faith had forced her to participate as a means to compensate for the damage she had done the last time she was here.
As for what authority Faith even had over Shine: once anyone had entered Faith's circle of friends, she more or less took over the disciplinary role whenever they'd acted out of line.
And sometimes even outside of that circle of friends, in fact, which Grade would soon discover as her furrowed orange gaze found its way over to him now that she was done with Shine.
" Ah, the other trouble-maker. I'm at least glad to see you've taken the initiative yourself to make up for what happened last time. Now don't you go mingling with my little miscreant over there this time, she's got a lot of work to do and it'd be most appreciated if you didn't go negatively influencing her again. "
Faith clearly didn't know the full story of "the last time", which made sense considering Shine would have been the one to retell the events to her and she may have... well... left some details out. Faith herself had her own share of trees to help relocate, but keeping others in line seemed to be her priority for now. One could accurately describe her as "the anti-fun police" this time around.

"Oh hey, Shi--" Grade slowly tapped his right ear-crest, listening as this skimpy-dressed Navi scolded Shine, quite confused as to their relation. Is it that of a parent and child? He couldn't tell if Shine was sarcastic when she called her 'mom'. He stared at Shine for a while after she'd left carrying the tree by herself, feeling a bit of pity. She turned back to Nymphra, only halfway after she'd addressed him. He decided to have a little fun eliciting a reaction, faking a sinister smirk while crossing his arms. "Oh, you would not hear the end of it if I could influence her at all." He then decided to get serious, thinking that she obviously only heard a portion of the story. "We already paid for reparations way too long ago, mind. It's not even that severe of a damage if you've seen it, which you," he coughed, "clearly didn't. Anyway, what I'm more interested in right now, what with you being uppity and strict at her and all is what are you to her to demean her like that?" He grabbed tightly at his left arm, with a stern look of anger and potentially disgust. Years of torture from a bad Operator, anyone would develop a sense of unjust when witnessing acts of belittling and harsh reprimands, and he couldn't deny that he's quite attached to her at this point, which makes him even more emotionally charged about this. #s://i~imgur~com/AESZGIl~png Faith squinted her eyes, a bit more keen on underlying tones than Shine would have been, but let him finish his spiel before responding.
" She's a little rascal that's caused me trouble more than a few times, but can be a good girl with a little bit of discipline. So you could think of it more as me 'getting even' with her, but in a way she'll benefit from in the end. "
All it would take was her stepping on the wrong person's toes someday and no amount of cutesy-ness would be enough to spare the girl from real repercussions. Actions have consequences: Faith was at least certain she could teach her that much.
" The environmental damage is repaired, but that doesn't mean your status is. Takes more than a bit of cash to right a wrong -- good deeds like these are a great place to start. "
And almost as if on queue, a loud crashing came from the direction Shine had been sent off toward. Faith shut her eyes and pinched the bridge of her nose, having no doubt in her mind who could be behind the commotion over there.
" I swear I'll need to just keep that kid on a leash at this point. "
She was jesting of course, but didn't consider how serious her demeanor implied her to be. In any case, trouble was brewing and duty called, so she began a slow march toward the sound of the crash, clearly already mentally prepping another chew out session with Shine who'd she'd already determined to be the cause of it.

He sighed, exasperated that someone wouldn't know they've gone far and beyond to repairing what they've hurt. "No one said anything about cash; I've carried like twenty-five trees since this morn--" He abruptly turned around. His view was blocked by too many other people carrying trees, yet he did fear that it was Shine, and then was off-put by how Nymphra expressed her expectance of it. He glanced back at Nymphra, feeling oddly offended himself by her comment. As an excessively violent response, his leg glowed a bright white as he took a heavy marching step with it, and the ground shook and tore itself inward, revealing streams and pockets of lava, stopping only short of the distending rows of people slowly diverting away from the two as the magma floor spread. Grade himself, at the center of this burning field, didn't seem to be affected; in fact, he seemed to be actively adapting from it, with the edges of his white jacket and bodysuit glowing a lava-like orange. In addition, blue streaks of energy circulated around him, cycling faster and faster, as the same white glow as a while ago now engulfed his hands. "No... You're not putting anyone on a leash." He said with such spite, as the ground shook again to put her off balance. Battle 1/5

#s://i~imgur~com/AESZGIl~png Faith halted and turned around as Grade made his outburst.
" ... "
She raised an eyebrow at his eruption -- her soles glowing a bit from the scorching terrain beneath them, but she'd seemed more or less able to handle the burnt ground and shaky foundation. The notion of him misunderstanding her quip didn't entirely cross her mind as she was much more focused on the fact of him disrupting the community event again.
" Causing another scene then, is it? I think that temper of yours needs to be put in check -- no good ever came out of a ticking time bomb. "
She raised her hands as if poising for a fight, not quite making fists with them but letting her fingers curl naturally as she took her stance. Anyone that knew her would immediately notice she was missing her dagger, but to be fair, she didn't take it with her when she'd come here since she didn't think she'd be needing it when she left the house.
She didn't strike just yet, though her body appeared to be brimming with some sort of energy, indicated by a faint red glow emanating just off of her skin, almost as if she were glowing. She was an analytical type of fighter -- taking her time to carefully plan her approach while preparing her offensive options in the meantime. It meant Grade had a longer opening to strike, but such was a leisure she was fine being afforded to him.

The liberally-dressed cosplayer's words made Grade reconsider his attack plan, which was initially to riddle her with an exploding ranged assault, forgetting the people that could get hit should any of his attacks miss their mark. Several already halted and dropped their trees to watch the two fight; the burning, tremoring part of the ground only inches from their feet. They were surrounded by onlookers. He clenched his fists and dissipated the energy charging around his body, as well as the blue strips that circulated, while ignoring Nymphra's provocation. Anything ranged or explosive at this point-- out of the question, and it didn't feel right fighting someone unarmed with a weapon, either. After a deep exhale, Grade slid his left foot sideways forward and raised arms, taking a still boxing stance. In reaction, the powder white on his garments was gradually replaced by hexagonal panels of chrome steel akin to the gauntlets he wore. His back foot took a rhythm of light steps in place, as if indicative of an impatience. Calm down, he repeatedly thought to himself. It was clear for himself that this oddly human-looking Navi in this flaming ring with him is an experienced close combatant, patiently intending to go for the counters. It wouldn't be smart to play to her strengths. She's the one who has to go through him, not the other way around. He exhaled deeply once more and opened his hands, straightening and relaxing them, facing them outwards. He's not planning to attack first, either. Battle 2/5

#s://i~imgur~com/ozgalt3~png Faith smirked slightly at Grade's composure. The changing of his attire indicated he could adapt on the fly, and the sudden change of attitude showed her that he could fight smartly as well rather than just barrelling toward her on the offensive. Most of all, it showed that her words at least sunk in to some degree, so he was more receptive to advice than she initially gave him credit for.
She'd admit she was certainly impressed, but nonetheless, she'd test that composure to see if it'd break when put to the flame.
" Well well, not as hot headed after all. But... "
Faith crouched down, as if taking a runner's pose before a sprint.
" ... may as well finish what we started now. You are still in my way. "
She sounded less aggressive, but still determined to get to the source of the loud crash from some distance beyond where Grade was standing.
While Grade seemed to be able to change his body's properties on the fly, Faith was able to do something somewhat similar, though not nearly as visually apparent. The red glow on her skin remained present, but seemed slightly more vibrant on her legs.
She didn't leave much time for it to be noticed before, in the blink of an eye, she closed the gap between herself and Grade. A red streak chased behind her in the air, but by the time he'd noticed her arrival, her foot would have already been extended in the stance of a devastating side-kick before instantly being retracted to keep from being grabbed. The wind behind the attack was a like a sonicboom -- suffocating the ring of flames and jerking her scarf nearly from her neck as she resumed her combat stance, now just outside of arm's length from Grade.
If he'd been struck, he'd have noticed that there was still a good deal of restraint in the kick, more intended to knock him back rather than split him open, but it would also clue him in on another quality of Faith's style: she delivered precisely enough force as was necessary to accomplish her goals and nothing more. Some navis could bulldoze through a brick wall with raw brute -- Faith could kick the right brick with the right amount of force to make it crumble instead. No energy was wasted and anything in excess was instead preserved for later strikes.
The red streak in the air behind her gently faded away as the red glow on her body slowly returned, some of it clearly having been "spent" during her mach-speed kick.

"Too bad, I don't have an appointment." he replied. He thought it was a decent quip, as far as his lack of hesitation to say it goes. More importantly, at the moment, she's crouching down, unintendedly accentuating her front as she tilted forward. Is this a seduction tactic? Is it why she's cosmetically designed that way, plenty of skin bare and all? It would've entirely made sense, if it weren't for that strange energy build-up around her. In that position, she seemed to be preparing for a pounce or going fully airborne... This is not good. He's not good at predicting, and he has no idea what her tricks are. The lava-red trims on his clothing dissipated, and in its stead, his emerald-irised eyes opened wide, black pupils forming into crosshairs. As his fear was realized and Nymphra leapt towards her at practically lightspeed, Grade was unflinching, staring down at her and then her leg, within a minuscule delay. However, as fast as Grade's eyes can get, the same can't be said for the rest of his body. His right hand moved relatively slowly to block the precise kick. With his hand only inches away from her leg, this was easy, and with the rapid surge of energy through his hand and the metallic plates on his body, he could match the attack's power with sheer durability alone. The impact was loud, like a lesser thunder at ground level. His hand tried to clasp onto her leg, but indeed, her agility is off the charts. He was nowhere close to grabbing it. He needed more speed. The hexagonal platings on her garments then shrunk into nothing, and electricity engulfed his whole body. His right hand sliced the air to catch up to her leg, but it was still not enough, her leg being a foot away by this point. His eyes frantically switched directions, aiming at the next closest thing, and his right hand then hurled straight towards Nymphra's forehead to palm it, twisting his torso to the limit. Regardless of her response, it should divert her attention up, and so Grade's right leg then slid straight to Nymphra's other leg, to try to outbalance her. With his right arm already raised, he then pushed his weight forward to shove her with an elbow to the chest. He wasn't done there. None of those attacks were made to hurt; they were enacted to set up something else. Slung back by his movements thus far, his left hand clenched into a fist brimming with lightning and emerald energy, and various harmless lasers connected his hand to reticles appearing on Nymphra's body, determining all possible targets. As the hand was then swung for a blinding haymaker, the reticles rapidly decreased in number, until the last one that remained was on Nymphra's stomach. Battle 3/5

#s://i~imgur~com/AESZGIl~png Faith gracefully caught the hand directed at her face as she processed his retort from a moment prior.
" No? Don't think little Shiney-whiney may have gotten herself hurt then? I'm strict on her so tha-- uagh! "
His foot managed to slip her off-balance during her own little monologue, but she leaned her upper body forward to retain her center of gravity -- putting her nose directly in line of his incoming elbow which collided with no subtle ~*crunch!*~ that caused her to stumble backwards with her eyes closed, both hands clenching her face where the elbow made contact. Even if he hadn't put much power behind it, her leaning into it significantly amplified the force of the collision all the same.
" ... "
~*crunch!*~ ~*pop!*~
Those were sounds that a nose was definitely not supposed to make as Faith's hands shifted around slightly, clearly "unbreaking" her snout as she slowly opened her eyes. It was not only impressive that no tears spilled from them, but also quite intimidating that she was trained enough to resist what was essentially the body's mechanical response to facial trauma. Quite the opposite was emanating from her eyes, in fact: like fires lit in her pupils, her anger was not only visibly apparent but even tangible in the air as she lowered her hands, revealing no small amount of blood covering her now-unbroken nose.
" ... "
Faith's fury was quite the opposite of Grade's outburst from before: there was a stillness and silence in her persona; an indication of still being able to restrain a control that others would have lost, but also an aura of seriousness that indicated her retaliation was still intended to hurt back. There were few things more frightening than calculated reprisal driven by spite.
She remained in a neutral stance as the reticles littered her body and then quickly diminished to signify Grade's identifying of her vulnerable points -- of which he would find plenty, mind you, but being familiar with her own weak points led to Faith having expertise in protecting them. Well, most of the time. If she were perfect at it, her nose wouldn't have been matching her scarf right now.
As Grade's swing came flying, Faith boldly leaned forward, flexing her abdomen to simply take the punch full-on while also taking advantage of the moment of commitment he'd made for his own attack to strike back herself -- slamming her forehead toward his own nose, irrespective of any headgear he happened to be donning. The spikey bun on her head appeared to whiplash throughout the whole movement of her head reeling forward and back during the headbutt. There was noticeably less restraint in her blow this time, but still nothing to cause critical damage outside of... a very specific kind of mutual discomfort between them.
She stood dauntlessly before him ready for more retaliation, having shown by now she was completely comfortable barrelling through any of his attacks to get her own strikes in if that's what it'd take. The red haze on her body seemed to coat her like a second skin now, indicating she was committed to this style of trading blows going forward.

No effect? No, the attack's made its mark, its damage dealt. She wanted to take it. Grade's eyes twitched upward, witnessing as Nymphra's forehead was crashing down towards his face. A counter-attack! Electricity rapidly cycled around his neck. At this close a distance, he had no time to swerve away his head, the energy to harden his face after that punch, nor the positioning to move elsewhere due to half-kneeling after aiming low. It was only enough time to tilt his head, meeting her forehead with his. His head was cracked by the impact, but he didn't budge otherwise. His emerald eyes could stare only at Nymphra's fiery crimson ones, and her bleeding nose if he tried... Wait, her bleeding nose? His eyes twitched around, looking for precise details. Her choice of clothing. Her lack of an identifying crest. The ears. The texture of her skin. The red veins and the reflective water on her eyes. The corona within her irises. The blood. The various cells that comprise the blood. For someone who'd eaten several cybernetic creatures, she didn't look or smell like anything he'd had... yet. He however had a good idea of what species she was. "Human." he uttered. He didn't care to know how she exists in this space, but for a while, greater than his desire to keep Shine away from this overcontrolling sass-machine with zero respect for her, was this base desire to know what a human tastes like. Curiosity mixed with a resurfacing addiction formed from a former necessity. No way to bite her though; range is too limited, Nymphra's too agile. Instead, he thought of something more devious... an attack of a highly psychological nature. One such that could fluster, confuse and rattle the sharpest of minds, or calm the angriest of moods, and still let him taste without having to hurt. Grade tilted his head, sliding his lightly cracked forehead against Nymphra's, then gently pushed her weight forward to connect his marble-white lips to hers. Battle 4/5

#s://i~imgur~com/AESZGIl~png Thinking his approach was a retaliatory headbutt, Faith already had her counter in mind as he came leaning inward. She dipped down and spun on one heel, the other heel arcing from behind her into a 360-degree crescent kick that trailed her movement as she spun her body around in place before landing back where it started as the back foot in her stance. She was aiming to clip Grade's chin with the maneuver, but if he leaned into the attack then that was on him (just as it was on her for having a broken nose very recently).
Having seen his cracked forehead and feeling that her nose had been avenged properly, he'd find the same restraint in her strike as earlier, its purpose being to bruise rather than to break.
" Human indeed. Now if we're done, I need to go see if she or anyone else was hurt. I wasn't serious about the leash. "
Having finally cleared that up, she walked around Grade but kept her eyes on him in the event that he still sought to obstruct her.

Even at this distance, Grade still misses? Is there no end to Nymphra's agility? He mentally asked himself as she spun away from him and her leg threatened to crash onto him again, at his face this time. With his widened, marked eyes, he had no problem seeing it, but there was still this issue of positioning himself too badly after that haymaker that he can't do much else to defend. Fortunately, there's no end to the bag of tricks that this newly-acquired body affords him. As the electricity in his body descended into the ground, it was as if his body began to melt as water emerged from his being. The incoming crescent kick pierced through his head as if he was made of water too. He then stood up, and the water that came from him receded, and he was there, fully intact. His eyes have turned back to normal, unmarked and not excessively widened. The cracks on his forehead have healed entirely as well. He looked up and touched his forehead just to make sure. He then heard Nymphra's words, and it sat with him none, as the 'leash' part wasn't really his only issue. "But then you'd still berate her, right? Belittle her, insult her, absolutely diminish everything that she is, then expect her to heed your every whim in the end? You really are not unlike a human. His anger was very apparent, looking at his face. He combed his hair back with his hand, so it didn't block his narrowing sight. You all desire to have full control over our lives, to pit us at each other like pawns for your amusement." He chuckled, shaking his head. His laugh faded as he stared at the ground between them. He then jolted downwards, slamming the ground with his fist, and he sank through it and the ground made a very water-y splash as it rapidly turned deep-blue. Two worming trails quickly swam through the water, zigzagging into each other, and attempting to circle Nymphra from both sides. Neither of those were Grade. Merely distractions. He emerged right in front of Nymphra, with a face that couldn't signify distaste any further than it already did. He leaned forward, seemingly going for a kiss again, but instead he phased like water through Nymphra, with his arms floating behind him. The arms then twisted in a way most other arms would be hard-pressed to do, and then quickly wrapped around Nymphra's neck, choking her by the back of his elbows, his hands grasping at the back of her neck. With his feet finally passing through hers, his body temperature rapidly declined, and his essentially dislocated arms froze shut, still around Nymphra's neck. The watery ground froze, affixing his feet to it, and Grade tilted forward, making sure Nymphra's feet cannot touch the ground as he practically stretched her onto his back. Ice then crept onto Grade's shoulders and the space between both their backs, affixing them even further. The hexagonal metal plates emerged back onto his body, which then connected onto each other with whirring wire meshes, tightening his hold around Nymphra's neck even further while ice continued to creep where she tried to shatter them. #s://i~imgur~com/AESZGIl~png Faith halted her movement as he spoke back, raising an eyebrow at his claims.
" What a closed-minded assumption to make. Have you never heard of teasing? "
One thing led to another, and before she knew it she found herself being strangled and hoisted over this stranger's back; his arms wrapped around her neck in some inconceivable fashion that she herself really didn't even comprehend. Her own arms were left completely unaccounted for; whether or not it was an oversight on his part didn't really matter to her as she went straight to exploiting the fact by digging into the pouches dangling from her waist to grab a handful of battle chips.
There wasn't anything too graceful about it, she just kind of chucked them all onto the ground underneath Grade's crouched-forward body. As if paying homage to her earlier comment, they all suddenly transformed into Time Bombs, giving Grade a very first-person view of their displayed countdown.
Since he was in the process of imitating a rather uncomfortably posed statue, he'd either be hard-pressed or flat out unable to deal with those as her other hand grabbed a second handful of chips from her pouches, this time just smashing them all together between her palms and letting their combined effects take action: the Elemental Rage among the bunch taking highest priority and causing her body to erupt into an inferno that was just enough to melt the ice or metal clamping down on her for her to slip out of the hold.
" ... "
As the Time Bombs reached "0", they suddenly vanished from sight without exploding -- Faith recalling those to her arsenal as she stood a safe distance away from Grade now. She somehow made it through that whole exchange without a drop of blood leaving her body (much less her face), so she finally took the chance to wipe off the blood that had been lingering from her broken nose earlier.
" Why would I even be here if I was some pompous overlord? There are good humans and bad humans just as there are good navis and bad navis. You can't just bottle them all together as the sa-- "
" There you are! Right where I left you. "
Faith was cut off by the familiar voice of Shine, who seemed to have finally returned from her errand. There was still a sternness in Faith's eyes though since Shine had indeed come from the direction of the sound of the commotion from earlier.
" I hope you weren't causing more trouble out there. "
" What? Little 'ol me? "
" ... "
Shine rolled her eyes at the non-verbal accusation as she went on to give her testimony.
" Pfft. No, what happened was that some bonobo thought we were still cutting down the trees and went to try and beat all the records. It took everyone at the scene just to drag the dang thing out of the way. "
Shine then directed her next quip at everyone present: Faith, Grade, and the onlookers they had accumulated.
" So thanks for all of YOUR help. I didn't come looking for others because I assumed the crash was loud enough to get people's attention and come check it out, but apparently more important stuff was going on. "
Faith wasn't remotely offended by her salty remark (which wasn't totally unwarranted, all things considered) and even showed a change of expression from stern, to somewhat shocked and even impressed.
" Oh, you didn't... do bad? Good! That's... you did good Shine! That's good! "
" ... Yeah, I know. I got a few extra Red Mystery Data out of the ordeal, just wanted to show you what you missed out on. "
Shine pridefully held out her prize in Faith's face as if to gloat for what she'd earned, smiling haughtily, but Faith more or less disregarded it as she gleefully patted her on the head instead.
" I'm so proud of you! "
Shine frowned and rolled her eyes again in disdain, clearly not getting the reaction out of Faith that she was going for.
" Ugh, you're no fun. I'll be off earning more of these babies, then. Try not to bore anyone else to death, Ms. Chirpy Derpy. "
And with that, she was on her way, leaving just as soon as she'd came. Faith smiled pridefully, reading the scene as if she'd been the reason Shine did something positive rather than destructive for once, not really concerned with any of the smug since that's more or less just Shine's personality and all.
She turned back to Grade finally, her face returning to a more neutral expression after all was said and done.
" For what it's worth, you're not entirely wrong that I can be a little harsh toward her. It's a two-way road though -- kind of our 'thing'. If we genuinely didn't like each other, we'd be throwing fists rather than words. It's just how some friendships go. "

While in the midst of attempting to choke Nymphra to death, Grade took notice of the Time Bombs that suddenly appeared, yet considered them a futile attempt as with his current state, being comprised of ice and metal, as well as his natural durability. However, his right arm practically split in two as an explosion emerged from the person she's strangling, having no say in her escape. With the ice hindering his joints and feet practically melted, he quickly turned around, unminding of the Time Bombs near his feet, and BugFrags began to surround his remaining arm, turning into a sinister-looking Buster aimed straight at Nymphra. As the energy within it rapidly rose, threatening to obliterate a wide radius at most, the white in Grade's garments were replaced by a deep black, and the metallic plates on them shifted into strips layering each other akin to Grade's former appearance, unaffectionately dubbed 'Legion'. He gritted his teeth, entirely about ready to fire and break his parity self-promise, but his last vestige of sanity took notice of the Navi that then approached them. His arm cannon then stopped whirring, brought down slowly to his waist, as he listened. Untwisting his left arm, he kicked his dismembered right arm up and connected it to his elbow-length stub, then untwisting it as well. At about this point, he was back to normal, wearing all-white and everything, save a little dishevel and singes at the back. "Is that so..." Grade monotonely replied, looking then past Nymphra and towards Shine. Friendship, it's only barely an existing concept to him. He hardly has any friends. Suppose it's the impulse of having to fight every time just because they can. "I don't really understand it, but if Shine's happy..." Tired and lacking knowledge of social norms, he turned around and began to walk, unminding of his unfinished sentence, nor apologizing to or even glancing at Nymphra in the end, after everything.
