*His own attacks hadn't been effective here against either target. Armiger wasn't wrong to at least give it a shot at being able to deal some kind of damage to it. Running out of friends and family, huh? That was getting closer to a confirmation of something he already had in mind. And it was something he wouldn't let them get away with even if they did share a connection with the Inferno Knight. He followed Faith's lead in stepping back, weaving past the bladed strikes that Nero sent his way as his armor shifted and his renowned sword came to his hand, light engulfing Fate as as he went at Nero and brought the blade down upon him.*

Nero certainly was more talkative than Rosso right now. So this time she called down a different move, lightning rising up from the ground as hail fell from above, creating a blizzard of both around Nero and Rosso alike. But with how things had played out with their previous attacks against them...

It was expected of them to do this well so far, which meant it was about time to--he was coming at him again, wasn't he? What had started as nonchalance very quickly erupted into scorn, flames coming to his left hand even as his opponents were making their move and launching straight at Vanguard, placing his hand to his chest as it erupted all at once, the blast tearing through the city and into the wilderness.
"Move."
For the decimation that had taken Vanguard at least was an upside. They had each managed to land blows on Nero's field effectively again. The same couldn't be said for Rosso's, however. Even with their new changes, his had remained rather fine at least until he made a move when Genesis attacked last, flames burning up and around him to meet the attack and ward it off. To Faith's surprise, Nero did scoff at something then, looking toward her and then to Genesis after.
"Implying I need anything for you all or that you're actually threats here..."
And it was here that Rosso's eyes gained a reticle within, holding his hand upward as he fired out a flame, the flame exploding once it reached high enough and falling down, scorching the field in a horde of explosions and wiping away the blizzard that was called forth. It was through these very flames did waves of darkness fly, aiming at the ones he had started on before.

Armiger.EXE
He couldn't help but watch the devastation unfold as a burning hand approached Vanguard and incredible speeds, the force of his flames burning out his commander's. In a moment's notice, Vanguard was sent spiraling, shattering up dirt and gravel and sending him sprawling into the forest. The very next moment, a massive wave of heat irradiated outward, and even Faith's best hopes at passing it by left Centurion a flaming mess on the floor retracted into his Navi crest and barely holding on.
Where was their fearless leader, who had stood up against two reaverkings and even faced the Original Navi mostly unscathed? How did a single mistake from his previous battles, which just set him back for a few moments, cost him the battle in this one? Armiger did his best to keep himself together, but, this individual seemed to capitalize on the fact that Vanguard knew how to deal with something. And if Vanguard knew how to deal with something, he tried to focus in on it.
Focusing in on that lead almost got him killed. This wasn't a slaughter-fest, it was a show of force. A pointed "Give up," written in flaming letters. Armiger felt the pressure, and wondered how his fearless commander had gotten this far. He was only going further because Genesis kept doing what he did best.
Genesis took one of the blows from Nero's assault, filling Armiger with bursting energy. Storing the power, Armiger wells up and begins to release the pent up force, sending his power right back at him.

It was so fast, Vanguard did not see it coming. A shimering of blue, a sudden pressure to his chest, and then the crushing sensation of force into his ribcage - why was it always his ribcage? - as he was sent flying. He smashed through dirt, gravel, buildings and trees as the flames carried him into the forest, leaving a gouge in the earth of wreckage from his attemmpted stand.
He felt like a fish brought in to feed, hook line and sinker. They had lured him in with the one thing he would always act on, intel, and knew how he would respond. More importantly, and perhaps even more dangerously, the two present made it very clear that he was not a priority - nor was he a threat to them. They wanted him crushed, defeated, and destroyed.
This was a statement. He layed there, barely moving, but not quite deleted. He had been spared.
Why? Unfortunately, he would be forced to find out. "Just . . . fight. And if you can . . . run.
"Faith, Genesis . . . M-is. . ."
He collapsed, face first into the dirt, the pyres of his and Nero's conviction still burning against one another on all sides. Three different flames surrounding the darklight warrior, and only one of them was his own. He would fight to stay alive. Then, he could fight to win another day.
Centurion.EXE
Centurion was likewise caught up in the fuss, as Rosso unleashed a powerful blaze. His merciless flames clung to him like napalm, burning through his energy reserves and leaving him scarred. Centurion could not help it; he simply wasn't strong enough for this kind of fight. Looking up after seeing his commander get blown away, he was honestly amazed to see even Armiger standing this long.
"Do it, Armiger. Fight.
He stay, discarded, as a command whisked him up and sent him flying back to Vanguard's coils. They were both spent, and, yet, somehow, Armiger made it out okay. In both his and Vanguard's book, that was okay.

Faith furrowed her brow at Nero's retort
" Tch. "
Cocky enough indeed.
Before she had time to make her own reprisal though, another display of raw strength had blown Vanguard back, and then Rosso unleashed a barrage of explosions from above, blinding Faith to anything going on as she could only brace for the impact.
Centurion suddenly slipped from her hand and all seemed lost in the chaos, but when it was finally over, she was still able to stand despite the black burns around her body and the seared clothes -- a tongue of fire traveling up her scarf until it licked it up completely, one sleeve of her shirt was completely missing, and her skirt had completely evaporated to reveal the black hotpants she wore underneath.
" ... "
For a moment, she thought she was the sole survivor lost in the billows of smoke, but she felt Mistair's power coming over her once more, as well as Genesis' black aura giving her enough strength to raise her weapon yet again. Their silhouettes broke through the haze as the smoke cleared out, revealing Armiger to be among the survivors as well.
It was no secret that she couldn't endure another blow like that and Rosso was plenty capable of just letting it rip again if he wanted to. But more importantly perhaps, was that Nero's power seemed to be reaching a peak and it was already too much to contend with as is.
But she wouldn't go down without getting what she came her for:

He did say it was futile to resist at the start, but of course she wasn't just going to keel over to a brave threat. Faith wouldn't be able to prevent him from claiming what he himself had come he for, but at this point it was just about giving Genesis and Mistair as much of an edge as she could with the last of her strength.
She had just enough to make one last daring attempt at Rosso's paling, lunging her full weight forward and practically stumbling into the attack: a thrusting attack with her dagger, but it seemed to transfigure mid-thrust into a shape that wasn't quite comprehendible at first. Without giving herself much time to consider if that even worked or not, she stumbled her way over to Nero and lunged at him too, whom her question was directed at -- her last ditch effort to land a meaningful blow as it left her exhausted afterward, grunting through each movement that she forced her body to make through the pain.
There was no point in backing away from them now, so Faith stood at the ready for what came next, bravely in arm's length as it was clear by now that even being further back didn't provide her any additional safety from them.
They could call her a fool for it, but they couldn't call her a coward.

*It was markedly quick how sudden Vanguard became a non-factor to them. For all his previous accomplishments, this was a show that what he had accomplished so far meant nothing in comparison to them. It would be a brutal blow to one's ego to be brushed aside so casually after always managing to find a way to prevail. Honestly it was no different for himself in a way, as the explosions came down first, weaving between the fiery fall before the waves came tearing through. These he met head on, be they with his gauntlet or his sword, tearing through each before the crimson aura surged, launching himself into the battle against the two. They still had no way out, so now came doing everything they had in them to press on against the odds.*
*The aura took on a yellow sheen soon after as he sent an electric surge at Nero and Rosso both, holding the magnum in his other hand as he fired, several blasts searing the air toward their targets. From there several chains launched forth from him toward them as the terrain once more became a death trap in an attempt to eviscerate them with their surroundings. He closed the distance between himself and Nero this time, sending his gun away and allowing Fate to float aloft as two obsidian blades formed that he brought down followed by them shattering after, catching Fate in hand as the light shone and he vanished along with the black feathers left behind, appearing beside him and striking in a series of blows.*

"Vanguard!"
The infernal mayhem would soon engulf them all, but the starting point was Vanguard being launched aside by Nero. And while she shouldered the oncoming attacks, Rosso didn't bother moving again, his flames meeting the one strike from Genesis as the rest met the unknown paling harmlessly. Nero's was a tad bit different, as it did bend under the weight of Genesis' blows, but would rise to meet the challenge again. He managed to cause this three separate times while the rest was meaningless from him, the others causing it to shake just a bit as well. Now then... he turned the sword in hand and placed it back on his back. He wouldn't need it for this, Rosso speaking up finally after his period of silence.
"All of you are just a bonus. We've finished here already."
"As despair's roots spread, so too does your future rend. Superbolide."
He held out his hand, a small candlelight forming up that he cast aloft. It floated up, steadily spreading out and multiplying... before calamity was the next sight that would bathe their eyes. It unleashed a searing ray of flames like a laser tearing off, ripping through Sharo and cutting through far into the horizon. Through the forests, mountains, and all as apolcalypse happened this instant, the sky even being torn asunder as the assault finally reached a conclusion, the world itself bathed in the slaughter that was far worse than the death incarnate they faced hours prior to this dangerous encounter.
"But we may as well remove the last vestiges of hope you all held, right?"

They were toying with them, but, Armiger felt the direness of the situation. No matter how tough things got, they had to keep pushing; they had to keep learning something, so that future fights would not be pointless.
He felt his Darksoul light, the dark aura coiling off of his own armor links, subsequently coiling off of Genesis. The two of them were somehow still standing after the literal apocalypse, and his power was brimming and bursting at the touch. The force built up in his body as an arctic blizzard burst forth from his body, with the same force that Nero's blast resonated with, as the brute strength of his assault was deflected out of his armor, wave after wave of arctic blast radiating out from him.

The earth was torn apart everywhere around her by the unspeakable horror of Nero's attack. Faith stumbled backward away from the two titanic navis just as one of the rays tore a chasm between herself and the rest of those there.
The tectonic plates separated at the point of impact, Faith's remnant of the earth seeping slowly down into the abyss as she looked up at the surface that was rising further and further away from her while the portion of ground that belonged to her now continued to descend further below.
But once more, Mistair lent her some of her strength.
At every turn, Mistair had given aide and kept Faith and the others in the fight beyond what they were normally capable of, and they hardly knew each other. Nero had said that Faith and her crew still had something that belonged to him. Mistair had confessed that she used to be the secretary of the opposing forces. The pieces just added up in Faith's mind: they were going to take her and she couldn't stop them -- Nero had even warned them that their resistance was going to be futile.
" Futile though it may be... "
Faith's wounded voice barely cracking through the sound of the chaos around them; its pitch failing to hide the pain she was in as she shouted up to her oppressors from the rift that was continuing to swallow her with the ground that she stood on.

" I still resist! "
Her crimson haze took over her body again, her entire form blindingly bright now as if the haze completely overtook her. She didn't have the same safety nets that Navi's had: a soul of darkness to fight beyond death, a second wind to fight beyond capacity -- no, she only had herself, her will, and the strength given to her by Mistair, and she'd be damned if that wasn't enough for one last climb.
As the calamity around her continued to destroy her footing and cause her to sink deeper toward the inviting death below -- as her burnt and wounded body discarded its pain to push itself for survival -- Faith leapt from the comically small remaining fragment of footing beneath her as it finally gave way to the destruction around it, leaving nothing but the void beneath her and the crumbling walls of tectonic plates that made up the chasm she was inside of while she jumped upward towards a sky that was falling down on her.
Her feats were not as widely talked about as others, but they held their relevance nonetheless. She'd went toe-to-toe with a time-manipulating Warrior, fought the self-entitled deity at his own throne that was Juno, defied death incarnate after having already succumbed to it once before, and single-handedly destroyed a Colossus designed to eliminate all digital life.
Her triumphs fed her strength as she found each joke of a foothold to launch herself further upward with amidst the Armageddon all around her. The fire continued to rain from above and threatened to end her story with even the slightest graze of a single ray, and even as these rays curved their trajectory and fluctuated in girth as if specifically trying to catch her, she'd find the way forward no matter the opposition.
The death from below raced upward now: a wave of fire rebounding off of the bottom of the abyss and challenging to beat her to the top if she refused to submit to her end.
But refuse she did, and after what felt like hours to her, she emerged at last from the chasm as the rising flames burst upward behind her, like a volcano erupting from the rift she had just climbed out of.
*pant* *pant*
To them, it was probably nothing spectacular. A flee climbing its way out of an oblivion that, to them, was the equivalent of jumping out of a pot and into a frying pan.
To Faith: she had just dodged an Apocalypse, and that wasn't something just anyone could put on their resume.
The scarlet haze that consumed her body had faded away now, the last of her strength truly laid out to bare after all of that -- worse shape for wear than when she had begun the descent.
" Superbolide... "
She still raised the dagger to strike, but it slipped from her hand as she had nothing left to give here. She'd have to catch her breathe between each syllable, it took just about all she had to stay standing in place, though really it was more of a stationary limp if anything else. It went without saying that she couldn't deal with that a second time, hell she really shouldn't have been able to deal with it the first if anything.
But if she was going down here, she'd be damned if it wasn't on her feet.

*Now this, unfortunately, brought back some rather unwanted nostalgia in his eyes. This was what he meant when he said he had seen a lot of things worse than what happened at the Forest Network. Typically he would get out of the way of things like this, but sometimes you didn't manage to accomplish the feats you would like to do. So instead he was caught up in chaos given presence and showered in the overwhelming force that steadily climbed and eviscerated Creamland. That was a lot more power than he was expecting out of one of them, that was for sure...*
*But as he was able to crawl out of the carnage and force himself to stand again, he found it rather strange that it was lacking a bit of decisive force. That one never happened in all the other shows of force before... unless the show wasn't over yet, as Faith implied. He was nothing if not a fighter, however, and managed to send off a few more crimson crescents at them in turn, though they hadn't been very effective before now either.*

She did her best to help and at least managed to help Faith herself clear the cataclysm that Nero unleashed. And they were all on their last legs here, their last few moves meeting the fields harmlessly yet again. Nero scoffed at it, but he supposed this was rather like them, wasn't it? But they were good at taking orders. He asked them to bark and they asked him for how long.
"I can respect the bravado a little. A shame that was but a light breeze. So what will you do about the second wave?"
It was more than clear what he meant as they could see it now that they were out of the destructive armageddon... that even larger spheres were hovering in the air above. In the world that was torn asunder all around them, they were staring down what was exponentially worse than what had just come before it while they were on their last legs already. He already knew what they would do about the second wave, but being courteous about it was a step up, right?
"Before that, I went through my introduction earlier, so I might as well ask to receive a proper answer. Who are you?"
He was looking to Mistair then, as if he expecting a response sooner rather than later. The incineration that was about to take place in a few moments was being held off just for exactly that, a few moments longer. To see what response she gave to his query.
"I... am Mistair."
"The harsh sting of rejection. Understandable."
And then the world ignited, let loose in even greater magnitude to bring down the ones who stood up to them, who were already one foot down, further down. It was an incredibly telling show of force considering the previous engagements, yet alone what could and couldn't be done. For all the confidence they held and all that they had done before, this was the reality that they were faced with:

*It was one thing to expect the repeated assault from him given his face, the next part wasn't even that uncommon from him, but typically it didn't reach further multiplication on top of what came before. The question he asked Mistair had to have some relevance before, as whatever it meant was something either between them not knowing her, which wouldn't make sense thanks to Rosso and her working together... or something else instead. Deciphering that message was going to have to wait, however, as armageddon was heralded once again to engulf them all in its storm. This time however, he was caught up in it and not able to get back up after, hitting the ground hard on his back. And while he still tried to get back up... it was in vain, falling back down. It was a complete defeat for him against the two, and it was more like it was one while the other one just was there for good measure. A crushing defeat he hadn't experienced for many years now.*

And as Nero spoke back, he'd see a hint of that despair that Faith had been fighting back in her eyes as she looked to the broken sky. It was a single apocalypse that she and the others withstood, but staring down at them now was annihilation a hundredfold.
" So what will you do about the second wave? "
" ... "
She had no retort.
And as he finished his closing remarks with Mistair, Faith did at least close here eyes to look away at the impending cataclysm.
The sound was deafening to the point of complete silence as it came crashing down -- the devastation so blinding that it appeared simply as emptiness; a white void consuming all in its wake, swallowing everything in sight.
And when the white light faded, revealing the total eradication of the scene, dismay claimed its victory over Faith's broken body as she laid there in defeat.

Armiger.EXE
Armiger's armor seemed tattered and worn against Genesis' body, the ice cracking and splintering as the plates creaked against one another. He had already been brought to his breaking point once, his armor only standing strong this far because of the defensive measures of the navi he had bonded with.
He felt broken. His most powerful assault yet, and it was due to the massive outburst of collected energy within his core caused by the enemy. It still produced no results. His core was barely sputtering out cold air now, trying to maintain itself as the world beneath them fell out from under them, and the world above them came crashing down.
They had lost. A crushing, devastating defeat. He felt his escape parameters kicking in, a failsafe to protect him in his time of need from potential threats. There was supposed to be someone they were not allowed to interact with under any circumstances, and this failsafe protected them from being captured by them . . . it would return him to Vanguard.
It would also leave Genesis, however. With the last ounce of his energy, Armiger disabled that failsafe in his systems, forcing his melting armor to cleave with the last of its strength to Genesis' side. His defenses may not have been enough to protect him; heck, he may not even be strong enough to matter wherever Genesis was going, next. He was designed, however, to protect those who were unable to protect themselves against the rising tide of darkness.
These two weren't darkloids. But they were a part of that tide, as far as he was concerned. He would protect Genesis . . . as best he could, at least. His resolve gave him peace, but did not alleviate his pain.

Just as the world around them had been decimated, the view steadily began to change back into the standard Sharo even for those fighting. The reason behind Rosso's inaction having multiple layers to it, from knowing full well that he didn't need to offer any assistance beyond the bare essentials that he did and taking care of most onlookers. Thanks to that, he would say that Rosso did a nice assist, but such words were unnecessary. Thanks to all their previous arrangements Sharo functioned in some sense of the world, but the reality of the situation was far more grave than that. "Simple as expected."They obtained their primary target today and took care of this fight just as planned. That did leave them with at least one shift in plans that was otherwise already accounted for, but it was what it was. They had an appointment to keep now that they were wrapping things up here. Rosso moved up first, walking up to the battered party and planting his foot atop Genesis and Armiger, casting another flame into the Overlord's right arm for an explosive blast. It would further damage the defeated warrior, but the goal was accomplished as the sword he held was launched out of his hand instead, Nero catching it and casting it aside into a rift not unlike the one that claimed Pandemic prior to their confrontation. "His fangs are done for. Take care of the rest here while I go greet some old friends."He vanished in an azure inferno as Rosso gave a nod of confirmation. He would end this in one move rather than take his time with them, taking a few steps back as he held out his hand, the void opening as the blade he used once before came to hand. Vicious as he was, he preferred to make this short and sweet. Then from here... he would follow along with how it was ordained. After this step, come what may, it would be decisive one way or another. "One of you is fond of removing obstacles, the other fond of collateral damage. Seeing as to us you fit in both categories, the irony isn't lost here."And so he brought the blade down, shattering all six of them underneath its weight. And they were awash in the ashen flames that it brought forth, casting it aside after. Today they knew full well that hope was lost. They were finally woken up from their delusions that hope existed in this forsaken world. He vanished in his own flames soon after, a parting message left for just the wind to hear now. "This is the last time I play by his rules.
