--Appearance: Zv-405 does not possess a solid form of his own. It appears as an amorphous dark blue blob with 6 purplish colored, oval shaped cores within a fluid amalgamation of Dark Matter with about the same consistency of ooblek or molten rubber and viscosity identical to honey. While merged together with a willing or unwilling navi, he appears as a muscular and tall dragon like being. His color changes from blue to a dark purple due to him leeching off the host's "blood".
--Personality: "I am Darkness. I am everyone's Darkness. I consume. I maim and mutilate. I kill. Yet I am Power. I am Freedom. I am the thing everyone yearns. They want me. They embrace me. I will claim their body, but they will come back. They always come back. They always want more. I will claim their mind, but they will come back. They always come back. They always need more. --Background: Born as a failed experiment to revive a navi during the Netopian Crisis, Maelstrom is nothing but a pure DarkSoul without a navi. He is a parasitic being that requires a host to latch onto and feed of to live. Once bonded, he will become the host's own DarkSoul, even if said host navi does not posses one inherently. Many navis have lost themselves and all inhibitions, showing their most depravated behavior and pursuing their darkest desires. Even separated, they kept yearning to merge with Maelstrom again, addicted to Dark Power in a way even worse than Dark Chip addiction. Maelstrom has agreed every time, feeding off various navis, finding great pleasure in consuming his hosts until nothing of them remained, gaining more and more strength for each one.

- If an allied Navi is on the field: Maelstrom becomes untargetable and and both become invincible against all attacks and effects, except for Aimed Attacks or Attacks with the Cuts DarkSouls modifier. This lasts for two turns (may be increased by any effect that affects DarkSoul Duration). This state is hereby referred to as "DarkLinked", while the allied Navi targeted for this effect is referred to as the Host. Maelstrom and the host are considered a single entity.
- Dark Link cannot be triggered on allied navis currently occupying a Hyper Mode.
