(In the Forest Network) Navis, viruses, and programs alike flow into the outlying forest from the direction of the vastness that is (or rather, was) Element City. Many had teleported away, but most of the refugees were those without operators, or weren't able to be logged out, or couldn't teleport - Others were simply curious. Another day, another disaster in Electopia. Here and there, figures stop to look north at the city and the din of conversation rises and falls as spillover noise from the adjacent network reaches their ears. A few jaded folk cross their arms and lean against the smaller deciduous trees or climb to the treetops to get a better look at the city they were evacuating. Occasionally, some of the evacuees break into bickering about arbitrary things - "Why don't the ONB-," "-heard that traitors-," "No way! Forte's been-" "-Scuttles!?" "Did you just assume-" A gathering atop a small hill, in particular, gets loud about what sort of heroes they think will appear this time, some with sarcasm, some with a level of fanboyism that speaks to their inability to cope with the gravity of the situation.
Note puts down a Bunny virus he had carried up the hill and blinks, confused. Out of the corner of his eye, the city had seemed to flicker. He flicks his headphones off of one ear and stares at the horizon, trying to hear past the arguing fools. No more screams or explosions.
In another blink, the city is gone.
Gasps of shock and screams of horror rise up from the forest even as smoke rises from the burning heap where the city was, and they spread (like the fire didn't have to) as more citizens turn and realize what had happened. The Bunny next to Note bolts off deeper into the woods, and Note himself allows his jaw to drop. He had left himself out of the loop on recent events intentionally, despite numerous freelancing opportunities - he may have thought them idiots, but there was good reason for the confidence these people had in the powerhouses of the modern net.
Before he knows what he's saying, Note is cast back in time. He cups his hands, breaths deep, and taps into his element as he shouts to amplify his voice over the horror. "Healers, Officials, Aqua-elementals, volunteers, on me! Everybody else, keep moving and get clear!

"Aqua Elementals ya say? Hahahaha! I suppos' that'd be me!"
A metal maiden, Shadow Labrys, rose from a crimson pool not too far from Note's position, her eyes light up with a shining, piercing yellow. On the back of her black and purple school girl uniform was a dual bladed axe with a short handle.
"Though, I dunno if ya will want me 'roun!"
Even after fully emerging, the crimson pool behind Shadow Labrys lingered.

Note cocks his head to the side and raises an inquisitive eyebrow above his sunglasses. "That's fer you to decide." Taking quick stock of the few volunteers and noting that no officials had shown up (Occupied already, hopefully, he thinks with a sour bite), he divides the group into two, giving some navis of evidently less ability direction to help anybody lagging behind. To Labrys and another handful of navis, he says "If you are helpin', we should go back to make sure that fire isn't, doesn't, and can't spread and nobody's caught by... well, by any of that stuff." With that last, he waves generally in Element City's direction. Even if the likes of him couldn't fight, if the bulk of the authorities were occupied, he could at least do this much.

"Hmmmmmmm well I dunno. Bein' nice and all isn' exactly my forte, ya know?"
Shadow Labrys walked towards the direction Note motioned towards.
"Buuut he DID tell me not to go on a mindless massacre today so sure! I'll help ya and 'ese fleein' civvies. Lead the way!"
ShaLabrys took a small hop, skip, and jump, with the pool of crimson following beneath her.

It was at this moment when a sound of kin to a space shuttle launching rises from the direction of Element City, and the sight of New Life ascending towards the heavens breaks the sky, making this tragic situation all the more dire and frightening.
...as the sound of New Life's rise dies down, the group would hear a loud "fwoosh" sound becoming easier and easier to hear in the relative silence. It's loud and somehow.. familiar.
Off in the distance, those with keen eyes would see the visage of a green, mirror-armored Navi standing at the Edge of town. He stands whistling to himself with an almost wistful look on his face... as he sweeps the burning napalm of a flamethrower over a nearby house as if he were using a garden hose.

The fleeing Navi's screams was much like music to Penumbra's ears. She hadn't eaten in a few days...and she was hungry. She knew, however, that simply grabbing one of these fleeing people and feasting on them right now would put her in a very poor light with the others. She lingered just on the edge of vision, and caught more than a few glances in her direction, but the shadows were wreathing her, and her in the forest, they were plentiful. She appeared as no more than a swath of darkness moving through the tree line, watching the stampede of food moving as she waited for one of them to...linger behind. To not be missed as she readed webs of shadow.
But then, a sound behind caused her to pause as she glanced behind, noting the state of Element City before her gaze drifted upward, and she saw what appeared to be New Life skyrocketing upward. "Good riddance," the woman spoke, the voice just exuding from the shadows entirely. The woman moved, her legs gripping a tree as she moved much like the spider she was, scuttling up the tree before she glanced down, glancing at Note as she heard his words, before her gaze flickered to the woman with him, the only one that seemed to have stood up for the others.
A long, sinuous tongue glided along blood-red lips for a moment before she sent a strand of shadow down from where she was perched, planting into the tree not too far from where Note stood. "There aren't any stragglers, dear. Don't worry, I was watching~" she spoke, doing her best not to bely her frustration at the fact that there were not, in fact, anyone for her to pick off and eat. The woman was too focused on the wealth of food around her at the moment to notice the flamethrowing Navi...but those that would might notice that her words weren't exactly truth, if he had escaped her notice.

Note, having been about to descend into the forest, pauses to watch New Life's ascent more confused than he was even when the city disappeared in an instant with no flash or glory - that explains the lack of officials, maybe, he thinks to himself. All the same, he lets out a dejected sigh and raises a hand in a gesture of disbelief. "Well, there's that."
As the sound of flames rises over the forest, Note just changes the song playing around his head to Shatner's cover of "Rocket Man" so that when he turns to Penumbra's appearance, he makes note of no nuance in what she was saying. "Thanks. That's... that's somethin', at least. If it's just the threat of fire, then..." He begins walking toward the flame-throwing navi with the utmost reluctance in his gait, mumbling about the absurdity of the day and a lost apartment.
"'Ey! You there!" Note calls to the navi, boosting his voice again to hopefully pause the incineration. "NapalmMan was jailed years ago! I covered that story, I should know - y'don't need to go around copyin' him!"

The green-clad Navi perks up as note calls. His head turns to Note...
Edge: What 'ya say?
....followed by his body and the flamethrower in his hand, sweeping a jet of burning napalm over to Note's position.
Edge holds the flamethrower in place for a moment before finally stopping the burning torrent and walking to where Note had been with an almost exaggerated smile.
Edge: Well I'm mighty sorry 'bout that, cousin! Didn't mean t' make 'ya a crispy critter! I'm just tendin' t'ma burnin' trash heap thar and thought that I'd roast a possum' over it after!
Edge's smile then turns into a deadpan expression, looking at note with almost dead eyes.
Edge: Seriously; there is no nature vs. nurture in Navis, especially when it comes to speech. Is the accent just because you can't afford a working speech card?

"Oooh! Oooh!"
ShaLab skipped past Edge before rerouting her skipping to skip past Edge and Note, and then once again rerouted to jump in circles around Edge and Note.
"Can I get a turn wit' ya flamethrowa'? This trash heap of a city looks betta' a'blaze ahaha!"
The crimson pool below ShaLab danced with her in perfect harmony.

Edge turns an eye to ShaLab, not fully understanding what she was saying at this point.
Edge: Hmm? Oh, I'm actually not burning the city. I'm burning looters.
From around the corner, a heel Navi crawls into view, his body obviously charred.
Heel Navi: Please, that Navi is a psy-
In one swift motion, Edge turns his flamethrower to the heel Navi and fully engulfs him in a blazing torrent of flames. He then puts the weapon down at his side and leans on it like a cane.
Edge: yeesh, they just keep on looting. Why can't we all just be nice to each other.
Edge looks on for a moment before a thought pops into his head, causing him to turn back to Note.
Edge: Oh, and by the way; pay no attention to what he was saying. I am, in fact, not a psychologist.
About this time, another Navi rounds the corner; this one of the common green variety. And not on fire.
Normal Navi: Um, hi there. I just wanted to see if I could come and help...
Edge gains a stone-cold dead-pan look on his face as he stares at the normal Navi. After a moment, he reaches to the diamond-shaped white mark on his chest and presses it, causing his entire armor set to shift from mirrored green to mirrored blue
The normal Navi stares at Edge for a moment, raising a finger and pointing to him after a moment.
Normal Navi: W-why did you just...?
Edge: ...just trust me, this'll make things a lot easier to understand.

Behind his glasses, Note's eyes twitch. "I know it'd be hard t'hear over all this FIRE, but there's no twang t'my words. ...And this's a very popular card. A lotta humans skip annunciatin'," he pouts with a dejected stare at the ground, during which he misses the panicked look on the Heel navi's face.
"Psy? If not psychologist, then... psy... cy.. cyber security specialist? I'll take yer word fer it, it explains the proactive fiiiiiirrrrrrrrrrre..." Note trails off as the horizon fades to white, and his jaw drops in (continued) disbelief. A few less savory types try to take advantage of the distraction to escape Edge's attentions, but they, too, stop and stare.

"Awww! All ya'll are laaame! Excep' spidah lady o'er 'ere. I like 'er vibes."
ShaLab started dance skipping around Note, attempting to prode his annoyance even more and not paying attention to what he was looking at.
"So o' great leadah, what's our next move? Can we burn down the city COMPLETELY? That'd be pretty fun. Ooh! Ooh! Oooor can we go on a slaughta' anyway? I might've been tol' nottah, but sometimes you can't resist, ahaha ya know?"
The crimson pool below ShaLab danced with her in perfect harmony.

Penumbra's gaze flickered over to the darkloid that had come out of the building that the green-clad navi was burning, and she couldn't help but to run her tongue over her lips for a moment as she watched him. The scent of the darksoul was tangible, even to the muted senses following just about everything being set aflame. The woman's lips parted, showing her fangs in a muted hunger for a moment, before the HeelNavi collapsed to the ground, still burning. The woman skittered over to the others then, her crimson eyes glancing back and forth between the two as far as their conversaton before looking to ShaLab. "Fire is so...simple," she spoke, giving a small snub of her nose at Edge as she moved past the now-blue Navi, before glancing down at the still-burning Heel Navi.
"I believe that we should bring this one in for...questioning." Without waiting for a response from any of the other three, the woman began to release a burst of shadow from her fingertips, which worked much like webbing as the black-dyed threads wrapped around the HeelNavi, putting out the flames and tightly binding her future meal, wreathing him in the very shadows she used for protection. "I'll keep an eye on him..." the spider woman practically purred as she crafted a leash of the shadow as well, seeming content to simply drag the Navi along behind her.
"Should we get the remaining people free from the forest or should we...go and see what is left of the City?" she asked, the explosions having seemed to have subsided...for now.

((LEGACY.EXE LOGGING IN))
Heat, screams, the suffocating smell of smoke and a combination of roaring inferno and smoldering remains greeted Legacy as he logged into the area, holding two things in his hands that he had picked up along the way. Something called NetCream and a bag of cyber marshmallows. Just a short while ago, he had been indulging in his new hobby of posting in the BBS when an interesting turn of event was brought to his attention. His presence, strangely, seemed to disturb the staff at the store he had purchased the sweet delicacies from and when Legacy had told them where he was going, they had a look on their face that told him they were doubting his sanity.
"My my. It seems quite a number was done to this place. How unfortunate." Legacy sighed slightly... And that was the extent of his feelings towards the situation. It was a shame he never got to tour the place while it wasn't on fire, although spectating a burning city was an amusing distraction in itself.
Legacy lifted the NetCream to his face curiously, examining the frozen treat. It had been covered in a chocolate shell which began melting from the heat of the distant burning Element City. Alarmed by this development, Legacy's seemingly featureless face split open, revealing that all along he had a mouth apparently. Within moments, he chomped down the Dipped Deluxe NetCream Cone. Truly, an ingenious invention. The taste of lightly sweetened dairy, slight bitterness from the chocolate cone, the crushed nuts, they all worked in harmony and counteracted the fatiguing heat. "Ka-ka-ka! I see! So this is NetCream! Truly a delicacy!"
Legacy was a simple navi to please at times.

Edge just looks around with a smile at the others in the area, listening to what they have to say and nodding before turning to Note and pointing his thumb at the group*
Edge: ...looks like 'ya got some straight-up freaks here.
...Edge then points his flamethrower to the side and unleashes another torrent of fire onto the remains of the Navi that he'd previously torched.
