At this point, Gate simply smiles to himself. This day had already gone far better than he'd expected.
High-Max reaches out his arms, causing a set of energy shields to appear, one in front and one behind. The shields seem to be covered in what appears to almost be technological runes, and actually form a cube around High-Max with four sides covered invisibly. The shielding proves itself to be every bit as powerful as Magnolia's, as it negates every blow made against it. High-Max holds his position in this manner we he looks on with a stoic face, speaking above the low hum of his newly formed defenses.
High-Max: I have little actual wish to harm you, regardless of your comments.
High-Max then reaches a hand forward, an orb of black and white energy taking form in his palm.
High-Max: A simple surrender will end this. I can promise no pain, and no harm will come to you.
Gate rolls his eyes at this. High-Max had somehow gained a more passive nature than he would have liked. still, allowing the stone-faced bringer of destruction the opportunity to end this peacefully might bring interesting results....

That looked about right for how powerful his shielding was. As it should be. But this was exactly why she was the most ideal to deal with him despite the assignments they got. If anything she hadn't gotten him herself because of how often she was unmotivated against certain opponents. But her motivation was already there today. But she was taken by surprise instead, blinking at how passive he was. She was expecting him to just go straight to it like some sort of directed weapon would at the beck and call of their master. She was learning a lot today.
"Thanks, but no thanks. The last thing I can do is let myself get taken in by you guys. Not that you're bad folks, but if I were then that would be a problem for everyone else. Your boss has a habit of analyzing things. Even if he can't figure out exactly what I do from watching it, it's a different story if he dissects me."
He could analyze her fighting style and get a measure of her strength just from observing it up close. But he wouldn't have actual numbers to give to them as it were. That was the part that they were avoiding. Having to roughly estimate what they could do was the best that they would allow their opponents to do. Anything else would be detrimental to their cause.
"So the options are let me take out your boss, stand up for your boss, or somehow you all get away from me. Don't do the third one, please? This has been informative but that would suck. Oh, and I guess beating me is a fourth option too."
If they did the third it meant that she wouldn't get to eliminate anybody. That would be most unkind of them to do. At the very least her goal if they got away was to leave them with damage. If she did so it was damage that they could never recover from now. That was why she slid the gloves off just a little with Dynamo. So if she could accomplish at least similar harm to High-Max even if they both got away they wouldn't be nearly as efficient in the future at all.

This is when Gate chimes in, rolling his eyes as he does so.
Gate: Actually, I will say that you've over-estimated my interest in you. Truth be told, I'd already gathered all that I needed from your battle with Dynamo and your initial attacks against High-Max. While I don't know everything about you, I have the basis for what my research required. Truthfully, that's why High-Max is offering you mercy. At this point, I wouldn't particularly mind if we just walk away and agree to kill each other another day. Besides, if you know anything about me as you seem to then you know that I have at least ten other operatives with power similar to High-Max waiting in the wings. While that shield of yours is unique and interesting, it's only a matter of time until we figure out where it's coming from. Meanwhile, all that you gather is a bit of combat data. At this point all that you're doing is giving me more information.
High-Max, still floating continues to look on stone-faced as the barrier flickers in and out of existence. Despite the power still held in his hand, High-Max continues to hold his genuinely passive stance... much to Gate's annoyance. Yes, the scientist was fine with this, but he'd prefer if High-Max simply crushed Magnolia at this point.

She pouted a bit again when he chimed in this time. What did he mean he got all he needed from her just from that initial fight?! But... but she hadn't even gotten warmed up yet! Then again it made sense if he was doing it for his research. It meant he required certain knowledge just as they did in this arms race. They were pretty much done with their end of things and only needed some information that she believed someone else was in the matter of obtaining right this instant. But it was here that she raised a finger first.
"One moment please."
The combat data that she was gathering was pretty much all they needed for why she had no issue pursuing further combat. So she was at a crossroad. His offer was sound yet at the same time her idea was that she was relatively fine if they kept going. So there was a series of other underlying things that she could consider, but right now those things weren't as important as asking him first. But then she just started talking to the air, no one in particular in sight.
"Is it fine if I keep going or is this a good stopping point? ...Either or is fine? Don't be so indecisive! It matters to me! Boss come on... Yeah, that's fine with me."
Her voice had started at a sincere question to being exasperated with whatever he said between to finally settling back on her cheery one. So it was here that she drifted back a bit, halting her own offensive at long last with the extent of the offer revealed.
"Yeah, we can finish killing each other another time. While I'd love to fight all those operatives myself, I don't want to be a total buzz kill to the others too. They like fighting things too, you know? World 3 as a whole is ranked third place in folks that need to go, after all. And the plan for number two and number one is already completed so you guys are the priority."
It let them know that they were keeping an eye out for them just as they were keeping an eye out for them. But it also let them know that there were at least two others that they planned to deal with after them. Whoever or whatever those two were she didn't say, but it also said what they thought of everything else too. But their endgame was already secured, save for why she went after Gate now. Besides, he wasn't inaccurate either. Out of all those operatives at least one should have a way to get through to her. That would make the fight an even one instead of one where she just carried on without a care in the world. And it was better to leave that information unknown for as long as possible. While there was no way to keep it hidden until the decisive battle with World 3, long enough meant they wouldn't act up as much until someone else did the work for them. It gave them more influence that way.
"So next time I fully expect you and yours to figure out or be able to hit more frequently. Preferably also hard enough to matter too. In exchange, I'll cut you for sure next time. I confirmed that in my initial attacks with you guys too. If you manage to beat all of us, I can't imagine anyone being able to stop you from doing whatever you please. So don't lurk in the shade too much, lest you be too late to stop us. While the rest of my allies are fine with one-sided victories, I want to indulge even a little bit on the way to victory. Life without fun sucks, right? Even if our ideas of enjoyment are a bit skewed."

Gate smiles at Magnolia's veiled warnings. Oh, if she only knew the full story... well, regardless, this situation was done. And that was fine, as the World 3 tyrant had just gotten confirmation that his next operative was already in place. Still, a bit annoying that for once that he couldn't show off his superior plans.
Gate: Well, it's been a pleasure, Magnolia. Give my regards to your "boss".
Gate gives a knowing smile as a set of gates open up beneath the World3 Navis, slowly lowering them away.
High-Max, meanwhile, takes to the ground at last, allowing the orb that he had formed to dissipate. He remains stone-faced, but nods to Magnolia as he disappears into the portal below.

"The feelings are mutual and the regards delivered."
She was smiling as well. If there was any person who would be good with gates, it should be Gate. His particular location made something like the lock here not a problem for him. She nodded back to High-Max as well. She acknowledged the strength of her enemies for sure, especially their ingenuity. But that was what made fighting them worth that extra mile that they would undertake. Now then... what to do from here? She still couldn't leave yet, but given Rammount it was about time for her to. So she blurred, a white blur that darted across Netopia. It was time to get into position then. The climax for this whole war in Netopia was about to begin with almost everything desired being accomplished.
