Shane chuckled. He walked over to the new Nightshade and examined him. The daemon looked up at his net op, tilting his head, puzzled.
"...You look so badass..." Shane said.
Nighty would have jump huggled shane if he wouldn't go straight through him like a ghost.
Nighty's operator then chuckled at Thrash words. "Actually...I could help with that."
He pulled up something from his bag and began scribbling. He walked over to the two ladies and slapped a check with a five and seven zeroes in Nina's hands. "You owe me a new computer, by the way."
The detective would then turn over to Minerva. "You like NetBattling. You are really good at it and Thrash there looks really well with that ONB badge on her armor. How about...a job offer here at NeONB? For you and Thrash, we were always looking for a Criminal Operation Specialist. Given your story and your Navi's experience I would say there is no one better than you two. You help people by doing something you like anyway. I am sure that your sister will be able to buy a new Master Unit prog with my little gift, Courtesy of Nebula Systems Dynamics, as well as cover the loss in production while Thrash is here with us. After all, it isn't but another good willed investement in your superb wine production. We do hold 37% of your stocks between us and our subsidiaries and you never disappointed you know."

Well now, an old story with a new twist! While nightshade has been nothing short of incessant about Thrash involving itself with the Official NetBattlers Association, a group that the beast has been at odds with since before Shane's father was even born, nobody has ever asked its Operator about such things. Minerva finds herself suddenly put on the spot...
"W-What!? I- I'd like to think that I'm an okay NetBattler, but... an Official?" "It's standard hiring policy, Min - they hire young, so that the training will sink in properly."
Nina casually examines the cheque, stopping at one point to dislodge the mangled laptop from her wrist. Funny how a guy who can afford to throw away this much money couldn't get himself a Wearable Computer, or has to carpool for that matter...
"Well, if he's a big enough man to foot our repair bills, I've got no problem with it. Thrash is right - about a lot of things, but namely that you need to get out more. If you're not going to pick up the family business, you've got no reason to just be lounging around the town." "But this isn't the same as just doing arcade battles! There'd be real criminals involved, and I couldn't just drop in another 25z to try again if I messed up..."
In reality, as much as she complains, the idea of real stakes and danger in a fight only intrigues Minerva even more. Prize trinkets and high scores were one thing, but to really make a name for herself... and maybe even TRAVEL as part of it...
"Thrash, what do you think?"
Back over to the Daemon itself, who is now lounging against the wall as an aloof, nonchalant badass older sister should. All it's missing is the scarf fluttering upon an unseen breeze and the plume of smoke from a cigarette. Instead, all we get from Thrash is a stretch and a yawn... is that even a real yawn, or just going through the motions of emoting boredom?
<Hmm. An... aaaawwwrr... intriguing proposal. And while I'd enjoy a change of pace, I'm not sure just how well I could get along with the people who I've made a living fighting with for so long. Frankly, the ONB disgust me. But here's the thing...>
With what could almost be interpreted as a grin, the Daemon taps a crystalline claw against the shining insignia lodged into its shoulder-plate...
<...It's simply going to take forever to clean this unsightly stain off of my new armor. So perhaps I'll give you until then to make a good impression, hm? Prove to me that things have changed for the better in the last hundred years or so.>

The 7' tall daemon would get fiercely tackle hugged by her little brother. Nightshade would bury his mask in her chest and refuse to let her go. It would take all of Shane's might to convince the little navi to leave his poor sis time to rest after the battle that had happened.
Shane himself would later on go over the papers to officialise Minerva's registration as an Official Net Battler. Expleining what happened was difficult, but they eventually got away with a "serious case of Beast Virures"
As such, the story of of an old weapon comes to an end...yet a new one will soon begin anew.
End.
Thrash gets 155/1550 for RP Nighty gets 165/1650 for RP
