Nightshade leaned against the chairnof the netcafè, sipping down on his favourite drink. Finally done with his shift at ONB HQ some relax time was just what he needed. The skies were cal and the sun slowly setting over the artificial horizon. The cat navi turned his attention back to the mysterious object in front of him. The thing was wrapped in cellophane, gained through a strange fight against a guy named ST-N or something like that.
Nightshade's neverending curiosity and fervid imagination ran wild. What could the thing contain? A giga program? Chips? Unique accessories? Crests? Beacons to summon Cybeasts? So many possibilities and only one way to find out.
Reaching his claws forward he began unwrapping th plastic ball with extreme caution...

It would feel like an age until all of the cellophane was unraveled into a massive thin sheet. Although it completely hid the contents inside from outside eyes, it was completely transparent. The film was easily large enough to cover the tables at the café, and as such it was more than adequate to protect the contents inside. The sheet eventually revealed a large piece of candy. Coated in brilliantly colored sugar, the candy looked a lot like protected data that those fortunate enough to find it, would access.
The cube like candy smelled very acidic, lemons, oranges, lime, all coming through its pink geleé. Inside however was a liquid "surprise" that sloshed with every movement of the soft, small cabbage sized candy.
There was nothing visibly special about this pink and rainbow sugar'd candy. Aside from the fact it was fairly large.

Nightshade carefully picked up the candy and studied it in his claws. Why was it pink? Why did it smell like lemons? He turned it over, tested its hardness or lack thereof, as well as shaking it a little to see how the liquid would flow.

The liquid inside sloshed around like warm syrup, slowly. The texture of the candy was softening in his hands slowly. Perhaps due to the temperature outside or even its owners body heat.

Nightshade placed the thing down and then licked his fingers to get an idea of its taste. Then, out of curiosity, he carfully used his claw to carve a hole at the top to look at whatever it was inside.

Sour.
Tart.
Bitterness.
All flavors transitioned into each other quickly, but now the candy's sugar was sticking to the navi's hands. Such was granulated sugar.
As the candy was cut into, the citrus smells from it became stronger. The syrupy insides were clearly the source of the smell. And soon they became the source of a fizzing, popping, and crackling trio. The liquid began to bubble and froth, some of it starting to foam over the newly formed opening.

Nightshade quickly took the candy and dumped some of the liquid in his empty glass, to avoid making a mess of the place. He then took the cut part of the candy and ate it.

The frothing liquid quickly began to change pigment to a bright pink as it intensified in its chemical reaction to air. It was then soon after that the frothing liquid began to give off an intense glow as it seemed to grow, soon enveloping the glass it was placed in and even the remaining candy which by this point had begun to melt under its heated exposed contents.

"Aw Geez!" Nightshade panicked and grabbed the bowl where some fake flowers had been put to make his table prettier, emptied it and used it to contain the bubbly liquid before it spilled onto the floor. "Just what the hell is this thing?"

The foamy mixture abruptly stopped foaming about, but now slowly pulled itself into one massive pink bubble. It rose just slightly off the table with its bright glow illuminating everything close by for just a fraction of a second.
Then, it popped. The smell of burned sugar faintly floated in the air as the netsky over head became a hot pink overcast as its data seemed to just "peel" away and disappear.

Nightshade fell down the chair he was in when the thing exploded. What the hell was that thing? Maybe it had expired long ago and it was unusable data. He turned around, trying to get up, not liking the smell it created. He hoped it didn't attract too much attention. It was at that precise moment that he noticed the unusual sky. He scrambled back up to his feet and rushed outside. Looking up his eyes widened in shock as the sky was literally deteriorationg. Without wasting any more time he fumbled around until he found a small data cube. Activating it, it released a white light, changing his appereance to the gold, white and blues of his ONB uniform. He immediately called HQ.
"Central this is officer 07017 reporting in, we have a situation going on in Element City regarding the skybox. I request clearance to investigate...and I would like some backup if you could..."

The surroundings outside the café were vastly different. The general make up of objects, buildings, outside tables looked just slightly odd. If it wasn't the color of whatever would meet Nightshade's sight, it'd be the look of its material. Transparent things like windows reflected an odd quality of light, and in some cases, glass would seem to be made of thinner and or weaker looking material than usual.

Nighthshade was at a loss of words. He didn't know what to do or how.

The wind blew.Sporadic waves of static finally echoed from Nightshade's preferred method of communication. It'd seem the ONB was well out of range, or perhaps blocked even. Wherever he was, it wasn't Electopia's Element City, but it looked very similar to it. The presence of moisture became apparent with the darkening--'pinkening' of the sky, and with it came a dark pink haze that clung to the air above, as if it was portending rain. In the café's outdoor's area, there were a few drinks within sealed plastic cups, each plastic sealant top a different color. All of their contents were various shades of green, two of them having small black orbs at their bottom, another two having nothing but the drink within. This black square table had a set of napkins, condiments and breads in their center, complete with butter and a pair of napkin wrapped cutlery. Underneath was was a purple colored ' PAUSE' logo that hummed from time to time. At that table's chairs there was a jacket upon it's backrest. A pink letterman, with white-cream dyed sleeves and a few badges of recognition on them and on the left sides. Other than that, the immediate area was empty and quiet like the roads to the left, right from the intersectional corner the cafe sat upon.

Nightshade carefully walked around this weird place. Just what the hell was that candy thing?
"H-hello?" He called. "Where did everyone go? Bingo?"
He neared the table and circled around it, studying its features. He would reach his hand outwards and lightly poke the PAUSE logo.
