Duration: 5 Posts, 1 Intro Post Setting: Melee Stadium, Urban Ruins Arena. Time: Late Afternoon It would often beg the question why they have an arena that looked like Element City in ruins, but given the network's history, its not too surprising. Having been through many a calamity, Element City surely had references to when it was much more run down and destroyed. Plus the addition seemed to be rather popular with Stadium participants, providing both open spaces, plenty of destructible areas, and cover for all sorts of navis and fighting styles. But really that wasn't why Desperado enjoyed it, the lighting here was great. Replicating the sun of the real world as it descends, creating a soft yellow light across the city. The warm rays would cast long shadows across the city floor, and Desperado's silhouette was no different. His coat flowed in a minor breeze, though not strong enough to lift his hat from the head. It was the perfect place for a smoke, let all his worries wash away. Plus he might even get some combat practice in. He did leave the room open for any to join in after all. Lucky the marksman found an open room at all, usually they're all full and you have to try to kick someone out, some even had lines waiting outside them. Crazy how much some navis crave combat like that. Letting out a long sigh, smoke rising listlessly around him, it had seemed as if the breeze stopped for a moment. He knew he shouldn't have another, not yet, better to savor this moment. A moment once unconsumed by concern for the sorry state of the world and what he would be able to do. Desperado contemplated, maybe he did need new allies, perhaps he could find some of the others from that time, and more, cause even here in this recreation, he felt the time ticking down. A memory here might not be a memory much longer. Intro Post 1/1

The faint scraping sound of metallic claws tip tapping on a rocky surface echoed throughout the simulation, a 6'2" tall figure stepping closer to Desperado.
The other navi stopped not far from him, looking around and shyly waiting for the other guy to notice him and seemingly shuffled around, not wanting to interrupt his pondering. Despite his mostly dull greys and black colors of his armor and undersuit, the navi was heavily customized. It looked like...a cat of some sort, with a long slim tail waving slowly behind him. The green markings he had mildly bathed the surroundings in a neon green hue, they appeared to be flourecent.
Once Nightshade was sure he had his opponent's attention, he fluidly transitioned from standing upritght to a rather exotic looking fighting stance. It was a mixture between what you would see in a martial art book and a more feral approach.
The cat like navi didn't speak. The reason of his presence was rather obvious. Besides, he had to abide to his ONB "overlords". They said he had to get some practice in, he executed. He simply gave a small greeting nod to the other navi, before focusing on the upcoming storm.

Desperado lifted his hat, eyeing his opponent who walked in. No small talk, no nothing. Really unfortunate, he hated when he couldn't have a nice conversation and a little trash talk back and forth. Looks like he'd have to provoke this one to get anything out of him. But since they're not bothering to take the first move, it at least gave him ample time to prepare. First, some analysis... Desperado had learned to be always prepared for his opponents, regardless of what they might bring. This one looked to be an aggressive type, and as he analyzed, over his eyes a small screen appeared, enhancing his observations. Catlike but otherwise humanoid, no mouthpiece, airborne attacks would be useless, and it might even use them. Better to cover up a little. Pulling from his pocket a handkerchief Desperado tied it around his mouth and nose, partially filtering air. Other than that, this one looked like it didn't have much in the way of ranged combat, so better to keep distance. Looks like it was time to finally fight then. The screen flickered off, and Desperado took to strolling around his opponent, his hands fiddling with something. Though his eyes never left his adversary. His actions with his hands rang through his mind, keeping track of all his ammunition. 'Buster... 3 of them, Flash.. Just two. Only one Freeze, need more of those... How do I get in, all those openings are too obvious, they have to be traps.'
'In that case...'The gunner's hands had only stopped moving for a moment, resting at his sides. His form flickered, as if glitching slightly, before his next step saw him rocketing toward the cat navi. In the same instant, he stopped, wind picking up behind him as he closed the gap and then shooting forward with his sudden halt. Dust kicking up all around then, Desperado stood with his weapon ready. His primary weapon of choice, a Revolver in his right hand, primed to fire at point blank. With a quick motion, his left hand flew across the hammer in times with rapid shots. Five coming out in quick succession as Desperado took the first move so graciously provided to him. Nightshade was expecting the guy to have some sort of gunplay/ranged option as its primary way to fight. The cat like navi dashed to the right, allowing his weight to pull him down into a slide. Two of the five shots skimmed less than half an inch from his head, the other three swiftly dodged with incredible speed. He disappeared behind cover, losing himself in the sea of ruins and rubble.
"Alright, Nighty, think...you need to get close, but how?"
His thought was interrupted by one of his ingenious ideas. Why get close if you can do better?
A vantablack sphere formed from thin air and dropped in the palm of his hand. After a.few seconds of priming he threw it, only for it to roll lazily onto the floor and getting into Desperado's view.

Figured it would be fast enough to dodge that one, and into the rubble Nighty went. The navi was far less aggressive than he had anticipated. Seeing a sphere roll out from behind some broken buildings, for a moment Despeardo hesitated, such a ploy would be far too easy. Yet still, even if it was a ploy he would have to flush him out somehow. Once again his body flickered as if glitching, reloading his weapon before holstering it. Seemed he was out in the open, but it wouldn't be too big of an issue. Reaching into his coat, a blue light shined outward as a large weapon was pulled out. Some sort of large cannon that strained Desperado's arms it seemed, yet it was held so steadily. Having fully retrieved his massive subweapon, the marksman aimed it upward over the area this Nighty thought to hide in. With a lowered stance and a small grimace on his face, he pulled the trigger on his massive weapon, causing Desperado to skid back an inch as a large, missile-like shell arced over the rubble. As it reached the peak of its height, it once again detonated, spraying all around with smaller charges. "Can't just go and hide even in a place like this. I'll make you show yourself one way or another."As the secondary charges fell unevenly, setting explosions all about turning rubble into shrapnel into dust, Desperado let his hands off his massive weapon. In the instant it began to drop, like his body before the visuals of the weapon tore and disappeared. Pulling once more into his coat with his right arm, reaching in deeper this time, The blue light pulled out another massive weapon. A great rifle that was seeming to gather energy from all around it, a small sphere of light gathering at the muzzle. Though it was held in one arm, angled downward and away from the explosions taking place in front, shockwaves of wind blowing his coattails wildly back. Battle Post 2/5

Nightshade grinned, looking at the huge carpet bombing miss him by a hair. He was getting way better at this. He only had a few scruffs here and there due to the debris falling around him. He moved quick from shadow to shadow, hidden from sight...for now.
He was beginning to understand his opponent. He probably succeeded in renged combat. As such, if he wanted his cqc skills to work he had to close the distance. His eyes flicked around the area to scan for any traps that he may involuntarily set off.
Then, the black cat silently sneaked up to the guy while he was distracted charging his huge rifle. "Why hide when I'm invisible even while in plain sight?" He replied with a smug grin, before attempting to have his opponent meet his trademark roundhouse clawed kick to the face. It would come up quick and hard. He hoped that if he hit, the knockback would be enough to get in range of his previously charged Dark Hole. A swift, dual range one-two. Just to be on the safe side, he had a few contingencies ready.

Distracted might not be the correct term for his charging weapon, preparation would be much more accurate. Desperado was half expecting his opponent to move out of the way of the carpet bombing, not hold out within it and attack after. So he was a little surprised by the attack at the flank. The kick struck true to the back of Desperado's head but did not quite send him flying in the same way the black cat had expected it to, bad luck perhaps? Doubling over in response, Desperado planted his foot down to prevent a total collapse. At least he was out in the open, not so much hiding in plain sight anymore after an attack. Pulling his body up and around, the gunner swung his great weapon, now having expanded in size to be twice the length of his arm and expanded outward with energy pouring in. Like a sword or club, it came around the opposite way Nighty's roundhouse did with the full force or even greater than the cat navi's kick, yet it was aimed to the torso not the head. 'Still faster than expected, Going to have to unload this and switch soon, otherwise he might actually overwhelm me.'Using the weight of the massive weapon, Desperado performed a full spin around, grasping the weapon with his other hand and lowering into a firing stance where his opponent would have been hit, toward a nearby standing building. The charge had been completed, and with a pull of the trigger, a massive laser erupted from the rifle, boring toward where he thought his opponent would have flown and even past that, into the building beyond. As the weapon fired, it once again pushed Desperado back, feet this time from the force of the recoil. The weapon soon died down however, muzzle glowing red from overheating. Like the one before, he dropped it from his hands, its image tearing for a moment before disappearing. A massive weight lifted from him, he assumed a less battle focused stance, rubbing the point where Nighty had struck. "Yaknow that actually kinda hurt, and... blood? Those claws sure are nasty. I certainly hope you've got more than some quick moves though, otherwise this'll be pretty disappointing."Battle Post 3/5

Nightshade's abilities and reflexes kicked in when he saw the death gun pointed at him. The thing looked clumsy and unwieldy though, that would be used to his advantage. He dropped the spheres he was holding, they were useless now.
He charged straight towards the guy and the laser, as fast as he could. He managed to slide under the huge cannon and kick it upwards before it was too late. He cringed when the laser grazed his shoulder, feeling bits of his own data fizzle and get instantly incinerated into nothing. With a huge weight like that gun, he was sure a sudden change in direction would throw his opponent off balance. He hopped up onto his claws again, belly to belly and face to face with Desperado, keep on his assault. He would not leave him an opening to recover.
He had dismissed his gun, and was preparing to face him. The black and green navi's mind gave him a stupid idea, but an unpredictable one. Worth a shot.
He pounced on top of him and used his weight to throw both of them on the floor. He made sure to repay the favour of his hurt shoulder by skining his claws into the guy, or at least try to, with his healty arm.
"Well they say my I am hella good in gutting fishes..." he replied with a cocky demeanour, chucking at himself. He stood on top of the guy like a cat toying with its prey before the kill, with his face inches from the Desperado's hat. His tail waved up and down as he pressed himself further onto the opponent to immobilise him, digging all his claws into him in the process. "Your fancy toys are not bad though. That thing hurts like hell. On the flip side, I am having alot of fun, and try as you might, I will be the one winning this fight."

This was less than ideal of a situation. To think he was closed in on so easily and pinned... and with that other thing about to happen, he would certainly have to find a way out of it. No major damage though aside from the gash in his chest, which was minor all things considered. Sure it hurt but whats a little blood between fighters really? As Desperado fell to the ground from the pounce and claws dug into his chest, he used the extra weight to roll back, springing off even as the cuts dug deeper with his movement. Using his spring off the ground as some additional leeway, Desperado quickly grabbed Nighty by the neck and wrenched him off, tearing away his own flesh in doing so and ripping apart his bandoleer. Nowhere to run while in his hand, Desperado threw his adversary ever so slightly away as he brought his legs up and kicked out, throwing his broken bandoleer alongside the cat navi. Though the grenades on it had all their pins pulled. The explosion occurred right behind Nightshade, which would quickly catch him and send him flying back to the building from whence he came from. Desperado on the other hand landed on his knees, bleeding greatly from his chest from forcibly ripping claws out from him. His body glitched again, and slowly the wounds began to close. His eyes were rather tired as he looked toward where he shot his opponent, and up further. "I certainly hope I can switch in time..."Battle Post 4/5

Nightshade's body was flung across the dirt from the explosion he skidded and rolled onto the ground into the nearest crumbling wall, half his body badly burned with decaying data withering away. He wasn't done yet. The ground began to crack and rumble, before a huge shockwave exploded the rubble ontop of the cat like navi outwards. The figure raising from a hunched position was Nightshade, albeit with a slightly different look than before: he was using a Double Soul. More over, a Chaos Unison, judging by the amount of dark energy waving off him into the surrounding destruction. His left side had seen better days, and he was slightly limping on it.
"Sneaky bastard, you beat me to it." Nightshade spatted, chuckling. The guy wasn't half bad. But the battle had to come to a close. With a snap of his fingers, his own bombs (the ones he dropped beforehand) ignited. He needed to keep the pressure up. The first of the two exploded right to Desperado's side, the other one ignited shortly to his left in two large domes of black and green flames.
He charged again, this time twice as fast as before despite his wounds. He flew across the rubble left and right, avoiding being shot, zig zagging towards Desperado.
In the last few meters, he jumped up in the air. A flick of his tail to redirect his own momentum and a barrel roll was performed. Another clawed kick was delivered at the opponent, aimed at his face this time.

On both sides of him bombs lit up, he expected them to be contact based rather than triggered, or something else, so their emerald flames quickly engulfed Desperado. He didn't seem to move, though as the flames cleared it became apparent that they only managed to lick around some sort of barrier protecting him. His wounds were still healing, and they certainly weren't going to close up any time soon, but the extra time was what was important. He could see as the smoke cleared from around him that his opponent was rushing toward him. The shockwave from before only made more clear his plan... it was just a matter of being able to pull it off. From behind Nightshade, a soft rumbling began. 'I've been stuck in my last one for too long... I can only manage two swaps more. Only for a few seconds as well... May as well keep him in one place then.'Desperado eyed his opponent, waiting to respond until he absolutely had to. The navi, now cloaked in an energy that seemed like the darkchips he'd seen before, yet it covered the whole body. What's more, no side effects either apparently. He watched as Nightshade jumped into the air and gave himself some spin. His body tensed in anticipation for the strike. And the rumbling was getting louder. In the final spin as Nightshade neared striking range, Desperado saw his opening. In a flash his body glitched once again, his wounds stopped healing just as he rapidly raised his left arm to block the kick. Twisting his wrist, Desperado grasped onto the cat-navi's leg and spun him around the same direction the kick was moving, using the momentum of his opponent to slam them into the ground. As his opponent was being slammed into the ground in front of him, his body glitched once more, blood spurting out of the wound in his chest as Desperado scrunched his face in pain. Bringing up his right leg into the air and slamming it down on Nightshade's chest, the leg meant for Desperado's face still in the hands of the gunner, holding his opponent down twofold. With his right hand, he pulled out the revolver from earlier and aimed it point blank at Nightshade's face. Desperado smiled weakly at his opponent. "Good Match Friend..."And the rumbling was cacophonous. From behind Nightshade was Desperado's point of attention for much of the fight, A massive building that was still standing moments before, but now just above the two fighters. The great laser from some time ago, the rubble blown into the supports mere moments ago, all had contributed to the fall of this building. It fell with tremendous force, crumbling as it connected with the ground below and to crush the navis waiting beneath it. The sound was incredible, though it did not escape the room, all contained within the simulated field. Until all the destruction had settled, a pile of rubble of a fallen building and no navis to be seen. And the silence was deafening. Battle Post 5/5

Nightshade cursed under his breath. How could he be faster than him? Now he was trapped. A rush of energy flowed through him when he saw the gun pointed at his face. He quickly raised his claws and aimed for the most obvious weakspot. His fist punched at Desperado's crotch upwards. The flinch it generated was enough for him to free himself.
The shot aimed at his face however, couldn't be completely avoided, as well as the falling building. The surroundings roared as the building crushed them both in a sea of dust, debris and rubble.
As the smoke cleared, the two navi were able to be seen again after one crawled out holding the other one to his chest. Nightshade had moved top of his opponent, shielding him. He had forgot that it was a simulation, and his ONB instincts kicked in. Serve and protect. He struggled to pull both of them out. Once he managed, he rolled down from his position to the dirt, still dragging Desperado with him. The cat landed on his back a few meters from the opponent.
Helmet partially broken thanks to the rubble, his left side charred, his right shoulder incinerated. He was in no condition to continue. Nor did Desperado it seemed.
"You...you're fliping crazy. This...this is not...how you win..win a fight..." Was all he could say with a small chuckle before he passed out.
