Nightshade would stop his assault and skid to a stop a few meters from her. "If you are trying to seek a hero in me, you won't find a thing."
He dropped his stance and stood up. "I can give you my 120% and it still won't matter. I have tasted enough dirt and mud to know when to give up."
He looked up in the sky, observing the lazy snow falling from up above. "Sure, I tried. But at the end of the day I am nothing but a joke to everyone. Hmpf, maybe I'd actually be some degree of decent if I had Greiga's powers."
The cat navi let out a long sigh, shaking his head. "I can't stand up on my own, let alone have the strength to face a cybeast and show him my worth. An impossible wish, mine is, to actually matter. To actually make a difference."
He threw a bomb at Kajira's trinket, destroying it.
"In the real world, in a real fight, there is no equalizer...the outcome of a fight is known since the start. I had enough false hopes in my life. Whatever I do, it's useless. Whatever I do is irrelevant. And I gave up on trying a while ago. Still, we got a fight to finish, yes? Here is my last attack. With this you should have enough for your report."
He formed a throwing star made of electricity and flung it at Kajira. It did little to nothing.

"Don't give me that," the woman responded immediately as Nightshade began to return to getting irritated with himself, it seemed. Lack of power was frustrating, surely, but that didn't meant that there wasn't a reason to continue. "I'm not entirely certain that seeking Greiga's power is exactly a noble, lofty goal," she spoke, crossing her arms over her chest as she watched him. It seemed that Nightshade had all-but given up, at this point. "Just remember that power alone isn't always the answer. If you think that power is the answer to everything, you're no better than the terrorists that we're tasked with bringing in," the woman continued.
As he continued to lament, she made a small 'tsk' noise with her tongue. "You're a defeatist, it seems. You're stronger than you believe you are...but at the end of the day, you can't just give up. With this sort of attitude, I doubt that you will have the respect that you wish. Despite how much I despise some other Navi out there, I respect them for their ability to simply forge ahead. Jax, Astrapos, Xion, Ruin, Genesis, K-414, Xyzillentz, Serix, and even more beyond that. If you want to be someone who other people look up to, then you need to go forward, no matter how difficult it is. I have been crushed a number of times too. Jax split me in half at least twice," the woman muttered, an irritated tone in her voice.
"But you don't just...stop. If I saw Jax again, today, I would aim to take him into custody, knowing full-well that the same thing would happen again. Because that's what you do. Just because you eat mud doesn't mean you stop forcing yourself back to your feet to go again. While you might be a fly to some people, and throwing yourself at them feels fruitless...you do it anyway. Because you can learn what they do. You can use that knowledge the next time you fight them."
Kajira didn't even stop him as he blew up the field that kept their powers evened out, letting her own power rush back into her then. The electricity binding her to her spires intensified for a moment, before she relaxed her shoulders, and the spires seemed to freeze, before slowly sinking back into the ground. "Everything is transient, here. I've been deleted I don't know how many times. Blake, my NetOP, always has a backup ready to go. I'm sure yours does too. Learn what you can against those that push you into the mud, and rise up to come at them again the next time. Eventually you'll stop being a fly and be a serious threat that they can't just brush aside."
At the electric star he threw, the woman didn't even move, letting the residual energy of The Storm catch it in mid-flight, the electricity dissipating. "Learn. Grow. You have the potential to be something incredible one day. But not if you quit now."
The woman exhaled slowly, the details of the fight coming to a close, now. She did have enough for her report indeed. He had some negative traits, but a number of positive ones, too. His head was in the right place, even if his heart seemed dangerously close to embracing the darkness. Seeing Nightshade as a Darkloid was not what she had in mind. Then again, she had her own refusal to die that had manifested once before, and even now it still scared the daylights out of her. "I'm sure I'll see you around New Life HQ," she spoke, giving the cat-like navi the NeONB salute.
She didn't like to play chaperone, but she knew all too well the struggles of finding one's place in the world. It took time. No one took you seriously until you earned that respect, and it was tempting to simply keep your head down and not stand against the tide, but to simply go with it. To stay out of sight and out of mind. But that wasn't the way that Kajira could do things, and she had a feeling that despite his words, Nightshade was similar. He would just need to show those above his station that he was worth worrying about. He had already shown some interesting growth in this short little spar between the two of them- she was quite curious just how far he'd go.
