Those seeking to find this location will find themselves lost hopelessly to the labyrinth of the net. However, those searching simply for promise and prospect may very well find themselves exiting from the darkness of the undernet via a long, narrow bridge over nothingness that appears only on the rare whim of random chance. When crossing it, those observing the scene will find themselves entering into an entirely different world from that of the abyss that they have ventured through. A golden horizon appears in the distance, shining brightly along side what appears to be stars, each shimmering enough to twinkle with excitement through the ever-increasing light. Day and night merge into one, with the full light of the sun, moon, and stars alike taking equal parts in a now blue and bright sky. This spectacle of beauty and splendor frames the destination of this rare sight; a single platform set above a sparkling, orange sea that spans the infinity where the lost abyss once was. Like an island in the middle of a dream, the other-worldly island shines like the day with all of the mystery of the night. And on this island is the goal of this trip; a set of tall, golden gates set dead in the center, leading to seemingly nowhere. However, they bring with them an undeniable anticipation and excitement. Something lies beyond these gates... something amazing!Welcome to the Gates of Fortune; the center of hopes and dreams! Within this very special topic, you will be given the opportunity to gain prizes both rare and spectacular. Just be mindful of the rules: - Any Navi is welcome here, even those not yet approved or fully created, but a maximum of one Navi per person may be used. The Gates of Fortune happen outside of normal story, so even a Navi otherwise active may freely join!
- Posts for the gates of fortune will be made every other day once the event begins. Individuals who fail to post in time will forfeit the ability to make that turn. Don't worry too much, though. Prizes will still be retained, and even those with a single post will still be rewarded!
- Rewards gained here may not be added to your Navi stats until the event ends.
If you're not careful, it's possible to lose some of your prizes! - You may be asked questions or given choices. Failure to answer within the parameters given will result in failure of whatever task was posed, and may enact penalties.
- RP here matters, and is mandatory! You are encouraged to think outside the box and try to see that which may not be stated.
- Story version is uniform for all Navis that enter the gates. A V20 and a V1 stand on equal footing.
- Additional rules and outlines will be posted when the gates of fortune open, so be ready!
To register, just RP your Navi entering the area and waiting for the gates to open. Free RP before the gates open is welcomed, and may very well be rewarded! Registration closes on Sunday, May 7th. The gates will open up to one week after that date, as I need to know the number of Navis that will be playing before I finalize the game. The event will end when I feel that the players have fulfilled all goals that they are able to. Note that all rewards and events will be scripted before the gates open, so the prizes for each scripted action will be pre-determined. The variable is that it's entirely up to you which actions you take. Rewards may also be given beyond scripted rewards for exceptional RP actions as I see fit. Once the event is over, I will post the entire outline of the Gates of Fortune as proof of all rewards given being pre-planned. Now, prepare for the opening of the gates, and be watch as great things happen!

StrifeMan.EXE
All he wanted was a simple trip through the UnderNet. Shin rather clearly said that they were just going on a simple training mission through the UnderNet. What was his NetOp's definition of simple?
They'd blasted through hordes of viruses alongside Navis that StrifeMan didn't even like. He'd beaten up this very large clown that he only barely managed to defeat, and, while he enjoyed doing it quite a bit (he hates clowns), it was something of an chore. They even found this absolutely massive, monstrous thing that StrifeMan thoroughly enjoyed ripping through.
In other words, not at all simple. Fun, but, in no way simple. Shin had lied to him. Why would anyone lie to him? Especially Shin! He was hurt.
Having a good time, but, hurt. The physical and mental pains don't bother him much anymore, but, his feelings were hurt. How could Shin not tell him that they were going for a fun run? Maybe it was all for a surprise! That explained it, surely. Shin knew that he would enjoy every moment of it, and decided to surprise him!
It wasn't all a lie, though. He knew he was going to be training, and, with each hard-won victory, StrifeMan felt himself getting stronger. He endured through the pain and agony of each fight, and came out a different Navi each time, his power over calamity and his control over his own inner pain growing. He was hardly recognizable to himself after the whole ordeal - that last fight even changed his Navi Mark, as the very essence of his being changed. It was . . . a strange experience. But, worthwhile. He felt different, stronger, faster, and more alert. The colors of the night were so much brighter, and held so many more details than before, and the Navis all around him all smelled so inviting . . .
"StrifeMan, what's that up ahead?"
"Hmmm . . . hu-What?"
He got pulled from his reverie by Shin's voice - something he hadn't heard in a little minute, it felt like. He was walking rather aimlessly around, waiting for the boy to throw him at his next task. Looking up, he turns to glance at the screen with the teen's face floating nearby, grinning.
Shin didn't look amused, and pointed with his free hand. "Look back over there. There's a strange pathway; don't you see it?"
StrifeMan's a little hurt by his tone. Surely he understands the wonderfully agonizing pain he is going through? Ah, well. He turns back around, following Shin's finger, and looks at the utterly brilliant path forming out of the darkness. The thing was absolutely blinding.
He felt something deep within his being lurch at the idea, but, that's where Shin wanted to point him at, next. Growling to himself, he took a few tentative steps across the bright pathway, and, when he doesn't end up vaporized by the stunning rays of light, continues his way down.
The long and narrow bridge of pure light leads him over what appears to be an expanse of nothingness. As he continues forward, though, the horizon suddenly lit ablaze with lights of orange, brilliant rays and crisscrossing hues that blazed against his incredibly heightened senses. The array of colors were almost blinding, until his eyes adjusts to them, and, as he looks over the golden horizon, he notices an island floating in a river of gold . . . and, over the island, the sun rose and blazed over a set of golden gates.
StrifeMan hisses, raising an arm to try and abate the sun as long as he can, raising a wall of blood around him. Knowing it was inevitable, he waits for the blazing rays to burn through the blood, and, then, sear away at his skin . . .
. . . but, that never happens. Hearing Shin screaming right behind him, StrifeMan slowly opens his eyes, and notices that the blood ward was still, surprisingly, intact. Lowering the barrier, he felt the warmth of the sun blaze against his skin, but, it does not harm him - whatever this facsimile was, it was not the sun that he so feared. A bright light in the sky, but, no harm to be felt!
"Ooh, how very beautiful! . . . I hate it," StrifeMan huffs, halting right in front of the staircase.
"You hate it because it's bright. Just go up to the gate; this is promising."
"The day doesn't have all the pretty colors of the night!" StrifeMan quips back, taking the stairway to the platform, wondering to himself if the gates will ever open at all. "The night is full of beautiful colors and sounds, and it doesn't burn! Burn, burn, burn, like the sun! . . . And, yet, this sun doesn't burn," StrifeMan rants and muses, cackling to himself.
"And you still hate it, don't you?"
"That is what I said, yes! It is for too bright for me to like, even if it doesn't burn. It is hard to see the bright red of blood in the light of the blazing sun; it is much better in the night, night, night! Kya-hahahah!"

Drawn to the area like a moth to a flame, a single figure enters the area. Taking a few steps forward and onto the long, narrow bridge.
"A long, narrow bridge leading to an amazing gate...this place is entrancing!" the helmeted navi spoke, proceeding toward the magnificent gates.
Being a lover of all things speedy, Revved briskly walked across the bridge, coming to an abrupt halt at the sight that lay before him.
"Wooow..."
It was even more breathtaking up-close. Like not even a tinge of darkness could reach this area.
"Well, others will be here soon, for sure. Maybe I should take a picture...?" he pondered aloud to no-one but himself.

*Well, this was a surprise. He had been on a completely different walk and ended up in a series of events that led him here. Except he was familiar with this place already. He had managed to wind up here before when he was aimlessly wandering around. He sort of was again, so he ended up here again. He imagined things were not at all the same kind of game as last time. But the sights were still neat here, looking right and left. But he didn't exactly engage in conversation with the others there too. Maybe he wouldn't have to... oh. Well, he supposed some of the tricks that some others used last time might work. Though they were less tricks and more honest approaches. Most of which didn't suit him as much as his approach did last time. Thinking back on it, the events had been pretty amusing in their own right last time.*
"Well, it was pretty interesting last time too."

A walk is a bit of a flexible term in this case, as Desperado awoke to find himself in the same chair he fell asleep in, but the location had changed entirely. Previously a themed cafe in Element city, he let his mind wander a bit and dozed off. Looking about he noticed the other navis here and the great golden gates before him. Brushing his coat off instinctually, he made sure everything he had was here. Gun, check. Shoes, check. Artillery, check. Speed... what. His speed was gone? The impressive power of a Giga program he had before just taken from him? Impossible... or improbable at least. He must have been out longer than he imagined, or this was some sort of strange heaven. Either way, he had most of what he needed to not be jumped. Besides, if he was in fact dead, what more could they do to him?
He only recognized the navi Revved, and gave him a nod and a wave as a small greeting. Mostly the gunner navi kept to himself, watching the Gates before him. No idea how he got here, but that was the only way out. Others seemed to be waiting for something, but it wasn't clear exactly what.

"That darn goof ball. Where could he be at now?"
Shadow Labrys rode on the back of her flaming minotaur through the depths of the Undernet. Why walk when you can ride around?
"Goes on about this and that of showin me the cliche powar of the darkness yet he aint even 'ere! How am I supposed to erase that 'Rosary' he speaks so much of if he doesnt help me master this powar! Let alone I dont even know where Im goin, he thinks I know how to navigate the net?!"
Asterius roared as he stopped moving suddenly, causing Labrys to almost fall off.
"Ey ya doofus! What are ya--"
After regaining herself, Shadow Labrys noticed a strange, unnatural gleam coming from near by. She signaled Asterius to move towards it, discovering a new hidden path.
"What in the blazens is goin on 'ere?"
Shadow Labrys and Asterius traveled up the path to find an open area populated by few Navii and a large, golden gate.
"There's a place like this in such a dark area?"
She looked around at the other gathered Navii. She couldn't sense much hostility; non at all, actually. They all just stood waiting, no one was really conversing either. Shadow Labrys wondered what it could be that was going on. Maybe a party? But no one seems to know each other...
Shadow Labrys goes up to Revved, while he took his pictures.
"Oi, speedy! Any idea whats goin on around 'ere? Pretty decent sized gathering for a bunch of strangers, dont ya think?"

"Hm?"
Turning to face whomever was talking to him, Revved wasn't sure what to expect....but he was definitely surprised by the latest arrival. He hadn't seen a minotaur before, so this was something else new and unique to him.
"Well, these Gates definitely are drawing a few of us here..." Revved began, pausing in thought as he glanced at the others. "Pretty small crowd for a gathering though."
"But something as radiant as this can only lead to something exciting! Especially since several of us are showing up here." Revved spoke optimistically, nodding as if agreeing with his own thoughts.
Not one to ignore those he knew, Revved waved to Desperado in response to the gunner's earlier greeting. It was a good idea to meet others at such a gathering and even better bumping into familiar faces, especially without any threats to their lives.
"So, what do you think of this? If you don't mind me asking." Revved asked, deciding to see what the Minotaur-rider thought of this.

Just like the others, another Navi makes his way across the bridge above oblivion and into the light. The crystals adorning his armor sparkle in the cascading daylight as he heaves his hammer over his shoulder and looks on in silence. He finally arrives and stands on the outskirts of the group, looking up at the gates with a fairly normal expression, looking them over with great care. After a few moments he finally glances around and looks to all of the Navis in the area, raising his hand with a slow but firm strength as he does so.
Vytrex: Hi.
(OOC: Looking for a volunteer to choose Vytrex' actions over the course of the gates. I will RP him, but the individual chosen will choose his actual action each turn. In return, I am offering a 10% bonus to all Zenny earned for the one who helps)

(OOC: I can do Vytrex's decisions for you. My schedule is becoming increasingly more open again.)
"Whadda I think? Well Im not used to touring aroun, never gat to do it much where im from. I hope what eva comes outta this thin will be worth tha wait, wether it be riches or justta good time. I could use a good vacation."
Shadow Labrys turned her head as the new green Navi approached. In response to his subtle hello:
"Ey there. Welcome to tha party."
Then she looked between both Vytrex and Revved as she introduced herself.
"Tha name's Shadow Labrys, but ya can just call me Labrys or what pleases ya. You could say i have a split identity so to speak. And this adorable big lil guy is Asterius, my minotaurin defender. Isnt that right, Asterius? Whos the cutest flaming minotaur in tha world!"
Shadow Labrys proceeded to pet and pat and snuggle Asterius as she waited for a response from the others.

Powdre stood, soundlessly, in an aura of light. She looked onto the gathering, her arms cross and eyes steeled.
She didn't enjoy festivals, but this seemed to be a festival of the gods. It would be good for her to learn the pantheon here, and perhaps to find help along her journey.

Merrill stood near the gate, watching and waiting with the others. He kept tabs on who had shown up, curious to see who would attempt the gates this year. Last year, he hadn't fared as well as he had hoped. But This year, he had hoped to do much better. He had only recognized a few navi's so far. Most were fairly new.

He had been sitting about, admiring a place of trees and grass. Then he had dozed off. And after such, he then discovered he was somewhere else instead. Well, this was definitely an experience. Zaven looked around, taking in his surroundings. He had just wanted to chill, but it looked like this place was actually pretty nice too so there was no problems with that. Actually, the place was really nice. He had to take in the sights for a bit, whistling as he did. Someone was pretty loaded to make something this grand, weren't they? And then pretty nice to let them all come on in here. He looked about to see everybody gathering, and decided that mingling was better than not, even if some of the characters might be shady.
"Hey."

"Can't argue with that. A vacation does sound pretty good every now and then. Just getting away from it all." Revved replied, listening to Labrys as they continued.
As she introduced both herself and her Minotaur comrade, Revved chuckled in amusement. They seemed like an interesting duo.
"A split personality,huh...? Sounds interesting." Revved pondered audibly, noticing a few more new arrivals to the scene. He probably wouldn't get the chance to interact with and meet everyone, but he'd sure try.
"I'm Revved. Or just Rev. I guess 'Speedy' works too."
He almost thought to ask how Labrys knew he was 'speedy' despite them never meeting each other...but Revved shrugged it off instead. It wasn't the time for that.
The one-word greetings of several in attendance made him realize something...most of them were probably bumping into each other for the first time here...
'Hm...I guess things would be potentially awkward then...' he thought to himself, silently. No-one could hear that thought process and that was probably a good thing...

"K-414, have you found the target yet?" Richard's voice came through, emanating within K-414's mind. The bestial navi gave a low growl, coming to a small stop at the darkness. He huffed once, not really wanting to respond to the man that was calling the shots behind the safety of a computer. "K-414. Report."
The beast exhaled slowly. "No. Still searching," he growled in response, beginning to continue his trek forward. He wasn't even sure what he was looking for, anymore. The target had been something that had escaped, supposedly, from the A.S. labs. How it had escaped, he had no idea. He didn't much care, either. He was here to hunt it down, delete it, and drag the containment data back to the A.S. so they could stop it from coming back onto the Net without their permission. "I don't think it's down here," the beast said, almost a bit glum at the moment. He wasn't goign to get to fight.
"Keep searching. Our records indicate there is someththhghgnngn-" the voice suddenly cut out, and K paused, glancing over his shoulder as if he could see Richard. However, the voice didn't continue, and the beast gave a small shrug before he took another step forward...and the darkness fell away.
"What the hell?" the beast growled at the sight of the rather ostentatious display before him. "What is this gaudy crap?" he growled, but even so, he couldn't help but to be drawn to it. He could sense Navi down there. Perhaps his target was among them? He didn't know what this was, or where it had come from...but he wasn't going to just ignore something like this. He'd put it in a report for Richard. That would make the man happy. Or not. Nothing really seemed to.
His footsteps carried him across the long bridge, before he caught sight of a familiar face- StrifeMan. A wicked grin split the navi's features, before another sight came to view as well- Xion. The grin didn't fade, but if anything, seemed to grow larger. "It seems that I'm surrounded by familiar faces," the beast growled, sauntering up to them, the beast still hunched over, not quite displaying his full height. "What the hell is all of this, anyway?" he asked, gesturing to the building before him, as if one of them might know the answer.

*That definitely sounded like a familiar voice, looking over to see who it was. Oh, yep. It was hard to forget this one. If Xion himself was considered savage and brutal in a fight, then K-414 would be the poster child for what bestial and brutality looked like in a fight. So they shared a bit of a trend, except one was more beastly than the other and had no flair about them at all. Nothing but violence when it came to blows with this one. And that was something that Xion could respect in somebody.*
"If anything, I'm surprised you even made it here. But why spoil the surprise for you?"
*Even if that someone was quick to anger and likely use said violence on him too. So as a result he went from surprise to a sarcastic tone without missing a beat. Besides, that wouldn't be a bad way to pass the time either. He was rather familiar with this gate after all. He knew how it worked... sort of. He mostly just knew a few things that were good and that were bad. So he wouldn't lie, seeing some of the people here do things their own way could be very amusing for him.*
