Recent Developments (6 months after Juno's fall)
Following the every major incident, politics play a huge role on the course that the world takes from that point onward. This wasn't as noticeable until the resolution of the Juno Incident which resulted in the falling of Juno's Satellite into Earth's atmosphere causing catastrophic damage. This disaster could not be ignored and had much larger impacts than world-scale incidents of the past, which led to Humans taking a stronger initiative against the potentially planet-altering effects that Navis could cause.
Thus the first of the current major factions rose: the Netopian Intelligence Agency (or NIA). They had existed in the shadows for quite some time, but now the time had come to step into the light. NIA valued the usefulness of Net Navis, but condemned the existence or production of the higher-end entities dubbed "Titans". Mankind's place as Earth's dominant species was threatened by them, and if they didn't react accordingly, they see themselves as becoming potential slaves to these powerful beings. Although Navi-freedom is still highly valued by NIA, they are unwilling to risk the loss of mankind's freedom and security in order to maintain it, and thus they actively pursue and seize Navis that are deemed "too powerful" in fear that they may later achieve the status of "Titan".
In response to these rational yet extremist measures, the second of the current major factions, Creamland's Knights (or CK), rose up in rebellion against NIA's initiative. Led mostly by independent navis that value their freedom, they proclaim that humans are largely to blame for catastrophic world events, reminding them of their past wars before Navis had existed and how close they came to destroying the planet on their own. CK claims that they creation of Net Navis was what brought about world peace in the Real World and that selfishly downgrading them to "Ancient AI" would only lead to more dark times. CK cannot ignore the damage caused by Titans, but they insist that humanity should allow Net Navis to deal with their own kind rather than trying to recklessly take things into their own hands.
As tension grew between these two factions, remnants of Electopia's Official Net Battlers sought after a better solution, and thus the third of the current major factions was formed: The New ONB (or NeONB). NeONB believes in equality between Humans and Net Navis, but say both are to blame for the major world crises. Many independent Navis with a grudge against humanity have respectable reasons for holding that grudge: they were either abandoned or mistreated by Humans (be it from abusive operators or from being raised by scientists as a labrat) and that leads them to using their incredible powers for destruction. Rather than abandoning their creation, NeONB insists that humans be held more accountable for the way they treat Net Navis so that the bonds between the two species will strengthen and that, together, they may overcome any challenges that the world may face, just as they had done countless times in the past. NeONB strongly accuses NIA for attempting to employ dictatorship over the Cyber World and they also rebuke CK's rebellious reluctancy to work together with humans to deal with the Titans. Despite its strong following, NIA and CK both insult NeONB's mission as being "childish" and "irrational" and regularly use terms like "the power of friendship" to devalue its meaning.
With the political state of the world in disarray, many major countries have closed their physical and digital borders to prevent the influence of these factions from sparking warfare on their own soil. Tension continues to rise as the malevolent powers in the shadows take advantage of this "Cold War" to make preparations of an even greater world threat.
