Rust-brown pine needles flutter down en masse, piling onto the frozen ground where they lie silently under the light of the icy moon. A storm is blowing in on a frigid wind, dark and turbulent clouds scraping against the snow-capped peaks. The first of the flakes are dancing down through the air now, dropped gently by the leading edge of the wintry tempest. It's a deceptively calm prelude to the coming squall, which is well on its way to blacking out the stars sparkling like gemstones in a simulated sky.
On a thick, low branch in a rapidly-dying evergreen that was failing to live up to its name, a solitary navi sat cross-legged. He'd been misinformed again, it seemed; his contact had insisted his targets would be meeting here tonight, but for hours now he had been alone with his thoughts and softly singing voice. For a brief while the natural beauty of the untamed wild had been enough to hold his attention, but that time had long since passed. As foul fumes waft out from the vents on his form-fitting suit, he comes to a decision. He will remain until the last of the needles fall from the tree he had killed and no longer. He had wasted enough potentially precious moments in the piercing cold.

As if by pure serendipity, or perhaps misfortune, what sounds like glass shattering into pieces radiates out from an area behind the sickening surveyor. In the place of its origin, a white hole filled with simple, black binary code sits unceremoniously open amid the frozen tundra. From inside, a low mumble quietly rises in volume. While muted by the frigid winds, it still resonates with an unmistakably male voice.
?:...an appointment at 3, followed by a date around 7, can't forget to be at work tomorrow....
Stepping out from the portal, the form of a Navi emerges not-so silently. His muffled mumbles slowly grow louder as he walks forward, making effortless strides in the snow as he drapes a large, nearly black hammer over his shoulder with one arm and looks down at a screen projected from his other. The Navi obliviously passes the slowly dying tree without so much as a care, his voice and monologue becoming clearer as he does so.
? ...still need to visit some net-shops too, have to get myself upgraded and hopefully get some directions to Rock Street before 3. And I've still got to...
At this point the Navi finally looks up and sees the wilderness around him. His blank expression holds fast as his eyes survey the land before him and the ominous clouds above.
?: ....huh, Element City really isn't at all like I expected.

Well now, wasn't this an intriguing development... this was clearly not who Xyzillentz had been expecting, nor was it anyone he recognized. But his unorthodox method of transportation was certainly eye-catching. His total obliviousness was a tantalizing addition to the puzzle. Perhaps the noxious navi had found a reason to stay for a bit longer after all.
Looping his legs around the branch upon which he sat, the dark-suited delinquent shifts his weight to the side. He spins upside-down, his helmeted head falling into the new arrival's line of sight accompanied by the squeaking, scraping sound of his outfit's material rubbing against the bark of the tree. Hanging there like some bizarre bat, Xyzillentz addresses his visitor.
"Well hello, dear. I do believe you took a wrong turn back... wherever it is you came from."
He gazes over at the gaping wound in the net itself, mildly concerned about its continued presence. For all he knew some sort of glitched-out army could spew forth from it without a moment's notice.

As the voice creeps its way from behind and above, the strange Navi feels a shiver bolt up his spine; the sweet, venom-dripping tone immediately puts him on guard inside as his clenched fist tightens around the grip of his sledge hammer. Hesitating for a moment, he turns to Xyzillentz, the crystalline structures growing across his armored form reflecting a bright green light as he does so. With a smooth motion he turns and freezes, looking the serpentine manipulator over for a few seconds... before giving a relaxed smile.
?: Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't see you there.
The Navi takes a few cautious steps forward while looking up to the tree, not entirely sure how to actually respond to the statement for several moments. However, he then shrugs to himself and re-considers the situation; he had just been planning to ask for directions, so....
?: Do you know the way to Rock street? I have an appointment in 45 minutes and really can't be late.

Xyzillentz swings his torso forward, grabbing the branch with his hands and letting go with his legs, flipping back right-side-up before dropping himself down to the ground and re-orienting himself to face the lost navi.
"Oh, poor darling..." He makes a grand sweeping motion with one arm like a game show hostess displaying a prize. "Do you see anything one could reasonably term a street in the general vicinity? Maybe that word means something different wherever you're from."
He pauses briefly before continuing with a chuckle, taking a few steps towards the jewel-encrusted wanderer.
"I'm afraid you've somehow found yourself on the wrong continent entirely. I must admit I'm actually somewhat impressed."
He glances over at the hole torn out of existence again before returning his gaze to the hammer-wielder.
"Perhaps you ought to find a mode of transport that's a bit more accurate and, if I may make the suggestion, slightly less world-shattering?"

The strange Navi glances around and realized that this strange Navi's words rang true. But still....
?: Well, I just figured that the streets were under the snow...
The crystal clad being takes his hammer and dips its head into the snow, brushing away a small patch as if with a broom. It takes him a moment to clear out a spot with this make-shift tool, but soon he finds himself staring at...
?: ...frozen rocks. Huh.
Feeling a bit silly, the Navi scratches his brow with his free hand before remembering that Xyzillentz has mentioned the portal that he had opened just moments before.
?: Oh, that?
The Navi motions to the data hole with his hammer for a moment before spinning it around and holding it vertically, tapping the jeweled pommel of the weapon onto the ground, causing the hole to close.
?: Nothing world-shattering there, just my way of teleportating.
With a sigh the Navi returns the hammer to his shoulder, re-gathering his thoughts before he continues.
?: So, if I'm not in Element City, would you mind telling me where I am? Still have to figure things out before my appointment...
