The navi turns to face the city, as if in thought... were its face one of expression, disappointment would be contorting it into neatly contemplative rage.
????: Shhh... Murderer... Shhh... What was your first answer to the riddle...? Shhh... Oh, yes... Shhh...
With that, a shadowy dagger plunges into Yun's back, through her body, and out her chest. Through the data can be seen the same glow as from the axes in the entrance hall Yun had passed through before, but only for a moment before another such axe takes off the darkloid's head.
[YUN.EXE DELETED] (Another +25 EXP to Yun)
????: Shhh.... 610,555... Shhh...
The dark navi enters the tower, and, for the first time in years, descends...

"Up it is then. I imagine you jumping wouldn't hurt you too badly."
*Sarcasm aside, he was pretty certain a jump wouldn't hurt her too much. Or at least not to the point where she wouldn't shrug it off. And so they started going upward, seeking out whatever it was here instead of running from it. He supposed if there was a time of peace, he would be confused on what he was supposed to do outside of relax during it. He could live with this for a while longer.*

[glow=white,2,500]*Embera made her way up the stairs, walking a little bit faster than Genesis. Nonchalantly smacking him upside the back of his head, she breezed on, as if in a rush now.*
Embera: C'mon you sleuthy jerk. I made the decision to tag along, but there's no reason to be so slow. [/glow]

*Upon the smack, Genesis rubbed the back of his head with a smirk. This was about as happy and peaceful as they could get. And it was while they were going after some unknown that lied ahead of them. Guess he would have to pick up the pace then, doing so as he moved faster after her.*
"Fine, fine."

((Okay, I'm not going to totally leave you guys hanging because I was told it was my post, but "they started going upward" and "made her way up the stairs" as the sole movement to reach a place (ANY place) is entirely... not right. Beyond that, neither of you had given indication of where you were prior to this (and it's still ridiculously vague), but if you were literally directly below the navi's chambers, you wouldn't have been able to even see the sky.
All that besides, is it really going to be that easy to find where Yun just got her head chopped when she had to get lost for hours to get there? I don't mean to begrudge you any RP style points, but... no, yeah, I am. ;p RP isn't just the interpersonal aspect, but ALL facets of writing. Remember that. Use it. Characterize, but don't make all of your paragraphs about your inner thoughts and what you're doing with the person directly in front of you. There's much more to a world than that.))
The tower that the pair climb ends abruptly in a long-abandoned hanging garden which overlooks much of the lower citadel and its plains, but still falls below the immense upper portions of the fortress. Where the bustling streets had fallen silent before Genesis and Embera had made their ascent, they were once again returned to business, albeit a much quieter, hurried kind.
Heights above and far removed from where the Revolution leaders stand, the towers over which the anomaly had occurred continue to loom... and now, all along the watchtowers of the inner wall, blue flames begin to shed their eerie light...

[glow=white,2,500]*Embera made her way out onto the garden-balcony first, getting a glimpse of what little light there was. Looking out, she felt a strange sense of discomfort. People weren't active, they were all looking like little ants, scuttling around aimlessly. Paradoxically, being able to see them seemed to restore some sort of peace in her. Looking back into the dark stairwell inside made her weary of venturing further. Without any warning, she stepped up atop the railing surrounding outside edge of the garden. Looking downward, and then back over to Genesis, she smiled softly.*
Embera: Y'know, all it takes is a vertical drop, a shedding of armor at the last second, and I'd be all across the Undernet Main...*sigh* and to think, I'm climbing a tower into unknown darkness with you...
*Embera stood there for a while, spread eagle, eyes shut, breathing ever so softly, as if expecting some light breeze to overtake her. Sadly there was none, and she nodded her head gently before sitting on the edge.*
Embera: Y'know, I never told anyone, but I'm actually quite afraid of the dark, ironic, given I have two light producing abilities. I still fear it overtaking me.
*Embera sat calmly, gently kicking her feet in the air as she sat on the rail as if it were a bench.*[/glow]

*Genesis looked down from the garden, looking at the streets below. They were quiet, but were in a more hurried fashion than before. Looking back up above to the higher portions of the area, it would take them quite some time to arrive at their destination. Although staying on the move did not happen just yet, looking to Embera. It was a pretty easy way to go out, among the ways he could think of off the top of his head.*
"Falling from this high might be a bit less painful than having a bomb shoved inside of you at the very least. You get spread all over the place pretty quickly that way, but perhaps not as quickly as a defenseless drop from this high up."
*Speaking from personal experience, that did not mean finding out which hurt more mattered as much as either way one would be pretty screwed. Looking back up to the dark sky, the darkness had plenty of reasons to be either enjoyed, feared, or both. For some it was natural to simply love or hate the dark. while for others things had happened to give them that fear. Scroll back a few years ago for himself and he wouldn't be as calm walking around this place either, but darkness moved him for different reasons. The kinds that lurked inside of it were scarier than the darkness itself. He had both bad and good moments in darkness... if you wanted to call them good any way. He had plenty of meetings in the dark, none of them going especially well. Guess he wasn't someone that learned very easily from constant experience either. That or he perhaps was hoping that it would turn out differently one time or the other. Whichever it was, he was still aiming to move further into the darkness.*
"Simply being able to produce light doesn't preserve the right to not be afraid of the dark. Many just use that as a means to justify themselves standing up to it or fearing nothing from it. A means to an end to grant courage against that which is not entirely understood by many. There is nothing wrong with fearing it, especially with the idea of it coming down upon you in mind."

[glow=white,2,500]*Embera sat there for a second, letting it all register. It was time she let Genesis in on another secret.*
Embera: Y'know, Genesis...there are times...That I lose control. It's not like my normal its of anger either, no. There are times where I lose control, where I get these...visions...of sorts. Things aren't good, and I see myself at the forefront of it all. It horrifies me to the point where I can't sleep normally. This strange cross here...
*Embera revealed the Somnium Cross on her person, worn like a necklace with the barbs uniquely twined around her fingers.*
Embera: This thing...I've become much stronger with it. However, there are these times...and I just get so unsure about it, but when this thing sticks me, I pass out. I get these images in my head, and when I wake up, no matter where I am, I've caused destruction. I think...but I can't be sure..I think that part of this is why I'm a wanted criminal. I don't think as much of Element City would've crumbled if it weren't for this. But I can't bring myself to release it. It gets the job done, but on the same token, it horrifies me to not know who's gonna be dead when I wake up again.
*Embera leaned back, her legs hooked over the rail, with her back on the garden floor, staring up at the utter blackness. Tilting her head back further to see the dark tower, she got back to her feet.*
Embera: Well, we've got a looong ways to go. I suppose we need to keep ascending until we can't.
*Embera made her way to the doorway and waiting Genesis' response. It was strange. She's mustered defense on par with stonewall navis, yet she can't shake this feeling of vulnerability, like at any given moment, her life could just crumble all over again.*[/glow]

*Times that she lost control and when she saw visions? When things weren't good, or worse than they already were now, where she finds herself at during them. He had no doubt that whatever she was seeing would haunt her times of sleep, where dreams could easily become nightmares or moments of the past relived. He had never seen the cross before, certainly not like the normal jewel crosses that he had seen in his time.*
"I can't say to not worry about who does or doesn't end up destroyed during your fits of lost control. You might not ever be able to control it when you do either. Just never let your apprehension prevent you from trying whatever you want to. Be it a success or a failure, you never would know unless you tried to begin with. You can share the pain with others, Embera. You're not alone. But only if you're willing to let them in."
*Not all pains could be shared however, something that was more than likely obvious to the both of them. It was why they had secrets, why Embera had kept such fears to herself outside of maybe being afraid of letting others inside. She had more people that she could rely on than she likely thought she did. It looked like the cross could just as easily stab into the wielder with barbs like that, thorns to stab into the owner. A double-edged sword, granting power yet the horrific visions that she was forced to deal with. She had lost this control at Element City and things got worse for it. Outside of their normal reasons for being wanted, causing wanton destruction would easily add on to the list of reasons to hunt them down.*
"If it ever becomes too much to deal with, getting with it is the optimal decision, and possibly for the best at that. But I can understand hanging on to things that can prove to be harmful."
*To be exact, he was being forced to do that now. The Chaos of the Controller was still there, unable to find the haze of the dark one who grafted this curse into the thing he valued most. The only time he had been forced to make a decision that he could have easily regretted for the remainder of his days. The cross was in its own way, Embera's version of the same curse he was now burdened with. Starting on the way again, they would be walking for some time to reach the higher levels of the citadels after all.*

[glow=white,2,500]*Embera could see the pains on Genesis' face when he said he understood her feelings. She stopped midway up the tower and looked at Genesis, a small light between them emitted from Embera.*
Embera: That's been bugging me, Gen...We've got nowhere to go but up, and it's not changing any time soon, so it's time we talk. You haven't been the same for a long time now. Around since that sword of yours changed. What's so special about the weapon that makes you so..."you"? I'm not just talking about that night, I mean also when he...
*Embera emphasized that name so as to avoid any unnecessary tension. After this, she had a job to do which could put them at each other's throats if the time called. Not dwelling on that point of the sentence, she stayed fluid.*
Embera:...took your sword, you went into an almost blind fury. So now, I want to hear it, why do you care so much about a weapon like that?
*Embera stayed in Genesis' way until they had their talk. It's not right to spill her guts and not expect reciprocation. It was time they shed their secrets right here, right now, in the darkness that noone else can interfere.*[/glow]

*Genesis paused when Embera stayed in his way, frowning mentally at the sight. But that changed after she spoke, realizing what she wanted to talk about next. He hardly ever spoke about himself, and those that he did that with were few and far between. The night with the Black Diamond was a blow enough, but his eyes narrowed ever so slightly at the mention of 'him'. Getting upset over just talking about him wouldn't do him any good, even if he was reminded of that fight at the Armed Fortress. That was when the grudge between the two became a lot more mutual he supposed. He stood for moments that stretched on before finally sighing in defeat, knowing that it would be even more trouble to get out of the conversation than to talk about it. And Embera was someone he could talk to, another thing that was in short supply these days.*
"I guess you can say part of my rage is because I'm selfish. It all dates back many, many years before now. Fate is more than simply a weapon, a tool, to me. I was part of an experiment the humans named Project Origin, being aimed to create navi to deal with wars as they saw fit. They had created a navi before by the name of Origin, but after they deemed it too dangerous, they split its power into nine and gave them to each of the ones they chose for it. Fate was one of the nine navis chosen."
*His mind went back to the battles and tests that they were put through. He went further back the more he thought of it until his mind went back to where it all began. When the nine of them were still relatively alright... even if they were nothing but test subjects to be used to further the humans and their need for destructive superiority. The Onyx Overlord brought his right hand up, gazing at it with a look of quiet anger and most of all: regret. He wasn't certain if he could ever forgive himself for everything or forgive all of those he blamed for it.*
"We were at work for years in all of their tests and experiments. They were driven by their goal of having us be at our best. If I had understood how far they would go to do that then, I would have put out more effort than I was. I simply figured they would be satisfied with whatever they were shown, but they had expectations. Fate and I were falling short of them, so they decided to eliminate one to strengthen the other. I had to watch as they destroyed her and melded her with me, becoming the 'weapon' I use now."
*He clenched his hand into a fist then, lightning coursing from it as energy flowed freely from it. Having had to watch such a thing, having to carry it with him ever since. Fate had stayed by his side, but he began to doubt if it would have been by choice after that encounter with Caliga. Where nightmares and doubts were made into reality. Where the one he cared for the most would abandon him, though he couldn't fault her. How he saw it, it was his fault that things turned out the way they did. He could see it as selfish as he was angered when others touched her and took her away from him, using her against him like they would. The combination of those and his emotions just made him flip the script. And it obviously lasted for longer than the first encounter.*
"Out of those nine, only three of us remain. The labs were destroyed too of course, though not entirely by human hands. A long story short would be... That it happened all because of my own failings. I failed not only in helping the one most important to me live, but also in us all destroying one another in our ridiculous feud of who was right or wrong."

Somewhere to the left of the Onyx Overlord, all the darkness in the room gathered into one spot. Eventually, it took the form of a girl, who was not at all pleased with the one who had deleted her. Then she noticed the other two. "So, um...small question. Did either of you see tall dark and scary on you're way up? Oh, the guy I'm looking for, he called me some number, and it was a high one." She wasn't sure what kind of response she would get from these two, but she had to at least try.

[glow=white,2,500] *Embera listened to the great length of Genesis' history. She never knew just what made him the way he was. Her only regret was making him relive it again. That soon passed, however, as she responded as best she could.*
Embera: Well that bites...But, I think I get what's the matter here.
*Embera leaned against the wall for a second, trying to pick the right words. Trying not to be too blunt, she finally piped up.*
Embera: I think you're being too vengeful. I mean, like you said, the lab was destroyed, so you've noone left to fight but yourself. If the blade is as sentient as you feel it is, she must not like seeing that.
*Embera waited a split-second to gauge Genesis' reaction before proceeding with her speech.*
Embera: What you're saying is that this is all your fault, but she wasn't giving 100% either. Now, I'm totally one to pick on the defenseless, but this is a bad time and place for me to do so, so I'll get to the point...Neither of you expected the predicament you were thrusted into. It seems like if roles were switched, it'd be the same way with her here beating herself up about it. How'd you feel to see that? You carry her around almost as either a sense of atonement, or at least a monument to your failure. You've stopped cherishing her as your dear friend, and looks what's become of her.
*Embera approached the sword at Gen's side and slowly traced her fingers along the etchings in it. Her reflection was blackened, almost twisted from the forces the blade emitted.*
Embera: Perhaps you need to reevaluate what this means to you. You can tell me all you want, but have you done anything that really mattered? The answer is no. In all the times I've been around you, only once have you shown how much you care about your friend's memory, which Caliga used against you. Shutting yourself off and blaming yourself is the worst thing you could do, especially now. She "gives you strength", but what do you give to her? With every vengeful swing, with every pointless cleave, you've spit on her yourself. What kind of friend would do that?
*Embera was being condescending, but she could tell when it was time to back off. Whistling, and in a matter of a minute, the green Spiky was back at her side, rubbing his head against her.*
Embera: Him and the others are all I have myself. I suppose I owe you an explanation with what you've given, now.
*Embera sat as her virus took its spot to her right. She looked forwards as she bit her lip. This was a story she didn't think she had to tell.*
Embera: It all started about five years ago, I was born a while after the Eternal Endgame concluded. I had heard many stories about it in my short life. The stunning realization: I'm not even me.
*Embera's teeth gritted at the admittance. She had lived her life solely in rebuttal of the fact. It stung her pride, and her individuality to actually say what she really knew all along.*
Embera: I'm the remains of scrap fire data from another navi, who people call "Fiera". Whether or not you know means nothing to me. Regardless, I've gone long and far, with people mistaking me for most of my life. It was after a specific event. [/glow](OOC: For sake of space, let's just say Embera described this event here) [glow=white,2,500]After that, I knew I had to make something else of me. That's when I heard about World Three. Perhaps if I made myself stronger, I could force and dissociate myself from that other woman. Still, no matter what, I was viewed as too weak. It was then I decided to come to The Revolution. I look at where we've come, and I still worry, looking at myself as nothing but potential of another. What's to stop her from being as strong as me, or stronger? She's the original, I'm just some data ejections that grew a conscience. I've only had my viruses, and it's been what I had to do.
*Embera ran her hands through her hair, and stood back up. This dark stairwell was some sort of gateway to the conscience it seemed. Brushing off her armor, she began continuing her ascent.*[/glow]

*Being too vengeful... he supposed that was a way to look at it. Outside of joining and creating the Revolution for the sake of all navis, he had also done it out of the grudge he bore against humanity. Just listening this far had only been because of various factors that put Embera above his normal reaction rates. He kept the same calm composure he was known mostly for during the speech thanks to this more than likely. He could hand it to her at least that ever since he had been around her he had been rather unsuccessful unlike before he was around her, though he didn't need to hear that from the person who was considering following the same path as the one who said it before. As a sort of outside thought, it would be rather amusing watching Embera give a big speech before an event of some kind. Given that she would probably rile most of them up herself more than whatever they would be setting out to accomplish. Though at her approach did he have Fate disappear once more, still the same as ever when it came to that. Even with Embera it would only happen if she pried it from his hands unsuspectingly, he was very much dying, or most of his hand went with it. And what with his recent ventures, the latter two options would be more likely than the former.*
"Reevaluation, huh...?"
*The Eternal Endgame... it had a mixed conclusion that allowed them all to live. Bitter though it may have been, it came down to their survival just as much as it had for the rest of the world. And all of space and time itself for that matter given the nightmarish program that humanity gave him compared to the rest of them, once again for their own desires. Although Fiera... he had heard and seen her a few times and had never stuck around her for an extended period of time. It was pretty easy to spot the resemblance now that he thought to compare the two, but the thought never crossed his mind because of the differences between them. Not only in power, but in the way they dealt with things period. It was always an incredibly rare case for a navi to be created from the actions of another. No wonder she was always so eager to prove herself... and surprising still that she cared a bit more about the destruction she caused now. There was no point in saying things like "Fiera could not become as strong as her" or that she was "her own person". She had probably already considered those things by herself. And it was up to her to decide whether she could accept that without worry or not. She had quite a few others that came with her, though Scruffy was the most prominent one among them, for what she had been through already. Life was in its own way just lived between the failures so far.*
*He would give it some thought after all. He knew what he wanted to do already, outside of considering Embera's take on things as the crimson eyes returned to purple in shade once again. While Embera kept going, he looked over to the one who had addressed them. That was pretty vague, though it was easy enough to give an answer this time. And considering the time of it, a curt response sealed the deal for him.*
"No."
*He could probably take the time to speak with the navi at length, but right now that was the last thing on his mind. They had spent enough time here for him to warrant the usual trademark they had. Which meant for them to keep moving towards the original destination before whatever they were going to find got too far away or something else paid them a visit instead.*

[glow=white,2,500]*Embera fixed her armor to be more comfortable before beginning her ascent a few stairs. Looking down to Genesis, she was oblivious to the presence of the other. She ran her hand through her hair before speaking.
Embera: We've spent enough time wallowing in our issues, time to shut ourselves back up and continue the trek, right?
*With a faint smile, Embera walked up, further, hoping to come across another room, or at least, out of this forsaken darkness. She was one of light... physically speaking, of course, and this suffocating darkness was just that, suffocating. The lack of knowledge of what could become of her kept her not only on her toes, but paranoid as well.*[/glow]
