The young man entered into a quiet room, with a couple of vending machines. He looked tired, but motivated. He sat at a table, pulling out a laptop and turning it on. He pulled out a smartphone as well, plugging it in.
"No rest for the wicked."
Froom his backpack, he pulled out a warm thermos of tea, and took a sip. It was approaching dusk as he went to work. He quickly pulled up an email and began typing. It was difficult to describe everything that he wanted to. The navi he chose to write to first hardly ever responded, and rarely checked in. In fact, it had been a while. He began detailing everything he had seen in the past while, from the hospital, to assisting a couple of people that the navi had befriended in the past... Well, befriended may be true for some, from what he understood. Darkness had fallen by the time he finished the several pages worth of information. He had hit send. He watched as the dots on the screen for what felt like an eternity, before it finally said, "Message sent."
Then he started writing up a second email, towards a different navi. She responded often, but it had been an unusual amount of time since he had last heard from her. After comprising a small email, he hit send, and waited.
And waited...
and waited...
"Message failed."
His head cocked to one side. It was difficult to believe, but if the email failed... was she in danger? Had she been deleted?
He began furiously typing at the keyboard, comprising another email, and trying to see if he could find more about what had happened. He reached for the phone to call in... But stopped. He knew that they didn't want to be bothered, that they were on official business. He knew better. He set down the phone.
"Xy, is that you?"
He looked up from the PC, as a blond haired navi with a red plus sin on her hat, her gold wings sticking out of her back.
He couldn't help but let out a small smile.
Xy: "Hello Cinnamon."
She smiled.
"It has been a while, and you look tired. You should rest. I can watch out for any emails while you sleep"
Xy chuckled. It was nice to see a friendly face for a change. One that smiled, no less. But, he didn't exactly have much that he could argue that logic with. It had been a day since he slept.
Xy: "Alright. I will. Have you managed to analyze that data sample I gave you?"
Cinnamon shook her head.
"I have not been able to obtain much on it. I have been trying though. The regenerative data is impressive. It's healing properties have potential, that is for sure. Just how much, I cannot say..."
She came over and gave him a hug. She sat down next to him, while Xy pushed his computer over. He rested his head on the table.
"There is a bed, you know?"
But Xy was already asleep. Cinnamon smiled.
