Sara woke with a start to an email alert from her Link PET. Looking at the wall clock, which stated that the time was 12 pm, she started shouting in the direction of her PET.
"Damnit, Serix! I told you to wake me up at...oh..."
Serix wasn't there anymore. She wasn't there because against all odds, she decided to fight when those much stronger than she was backed out. Still, her fighting wasn't enough. It had been a few weeks since it had happened, but something was stirring in Sara's mind.
Perhaps she was losing her grip on reality, but something told her that perhaps Serix wasn't really gone after all. So, in the interest of sating her curiosity, she opened her email on her laptop, to a message from her boss at the coffee shop, telling her that she had been fired for being late too many times. There was also a message from her girlfriend, ending things because Sara wasn't the same anymore. How could anyone expect her to be the same, though? She had just lost her best friend in the world.
"Well....things just keep getting better..."
Of course, the moment that Sara uttered these words, she immediately regretted them, as her screen burned out from the laptop being left on all night.
"Sure, you can leave me too."
At this point, Sara unplugged her laptop, opened her third story window, and lobbed the dead computer out the hatch. After getting dressed in her business attire, she opened her door to find an eviction notice for failure to pay rent, but this was lower on her priority list this day. Catching the bus to the local computer store, she began browsing. That was, until she saw a particular model that looked strangely familiar. It was like something from 500 years ago.
Sara blinked, and found herself in a place that she had no recollection of ever having been, and uttering words that she didn't remember saying. However, after blinking again, the vision had faded. One thing that didn't fade, however, was the name of that location... Kotobuki.
As Sara stepped off the bus, she started feeling a little dizzy. Still, she had a goal in mind. She had to find the main server for this area. The only question was as to where it could possibly be located, which brought to mind how long it would take to find it.
"If Serix were here, she'd probably be calling me an idiot right now."
Sara muttered this to herself as she proceeded towards the tallest building in the area.
