Chie sat at a table in the cafeteria corner near a window anxiously while trying to hide her emotions. The setting sun's rays cast upon her face lighting her pale skin gently. Her right fingers loosely held the lukewarm paper cup of tea as she stared down nervously as she was lost in her own thoughts. She was worried sick about her NetNavi once more after getting her back. The night before, while at home she tripped and fell and her chips fell out of her pocket. Her parents caught wind of the Unity.OS chip as they helped pick up her chips, to which Chie and Guardian explained it's origin and Guardian's experience on Unity's OS. When Guardian experienced some sort of memories, they immediately raised concern and asked to take Chie's P.E.T to work with them the next day to analyze Guardian.
Chie had arrived early in the morning, and waited for an answer. She ordered a single cup of tea and an uneaten bagel the whole day, which rested next to the cup of tea in her hand. Her left hand was gripping the sleeve of her sweater, trembling as she didn't know how to feel. She never needed Guardian as a NetNavi, but it was only moments like this when they were separated, that she knew how much she relied on Guardian for emotional support. Unaware she was doing so, she accidentally spoke a few words of thought. "Unity, how ironic you caused a divide."
Her trance was broken when something slid into her sight, her black with purple trimmed Progress P.E.T. Her eyes lit up with joy as she looked across to the other side of the table to see her mother take a seat in front of her. The elder woman didn't have a grim look on her face which Chie took as a hopeful sign. "Don't worry, Guardian is still there and fully intact and will initialize back in a minute. We took a full analysis of her and found something interesting. The original Guardian.OS AI data, it somehow defragmented in portion."
Chie was more relieved to have Guardian back as she checked the status on her P.E.T, however she didn't entirely ignore her mother. "The original data, I thought only enough to operate basics like personality and ethical decision making were available? Are you saying she recovered the original's memories?" Dr. Kira shrugged as was also perplexed. "In part, exposure to that OS forced Guardian beyond her limits too soon. This was a lucky fluke. Now I got work to do..." Dr. Kira noted the untouched food "... Get something to eat, please. I'll see you sat home." Dr. Kira stood up and left the Cafeteria as the P.E.T lit up, finishing the initialization process and Guardian.exe slowly woken up inside the device.
"...Chie??"
Chie almost shed a tear but smiled as she kept her composure. "Welcome back Guardian, how are you feeling?"
The navi slowly stretched out within the small virtual world of the hand held terminal. "A bit rough, feels like I went to the recycling bin and back."

Tip tap tip tap.
The sound of betallic claws scratching the digital ground echoed all around. The floor itself trembled lightly as a feline figure dressed in a sickly green outfit made his way around OE Labs. Why was he there? He didn't really know. There was something mesmerizing with that place. It was like he was attracted to the high tech the place had. Or possibly the faster connection. His file size did grow in the last months. It started slow as just some accents around his eyes, but now he couldn't really hide what he was, not that he had tried hard to.
While he was there he might as well check out what was going on around those parts. OEL was strangely quiet. No announcements, no new projects. One had to wonder if they had shut down after all that had happened.

A young man entered the room where Chie sat with her Navi. He was just over five and a half feet tall with short brown hair. He wore a white blazer, with a black shirt and white dress pants with black shoes. His tie was silver. He carried a satchel on his back, a medical bag as well, a briefcase in one hand, a cup of tea in the other. He had black and silver glasses, with one yellow eye and one brown eye. His skin was fair, if not slightly pale. He was on the skinnier side, but by no means small, as one could tell he had some muscle to him. The young man chose a table near the window, set down his briefcase and tea first. With a quick shrug of his shoulders, he dislodged both the satchel and his medical bag. He takes a sip of tea as he sits, opening up the briefcase first. He pulls out a black square box that’s a bit over a foot wide and several inches thick, and sets it on the table. It’s a laptop, one he custom built. He presses a few keys, and it ekes to life, the primary sides of the case opening to reveal 2 other screens, which he adjusts accordingly so he can see all three. He then pulls out a P.E.T and sets it next to the laptop. He powers it on, and it flashes “Searching” as it looks to locate a Navi. He then opens up several files, some with images of partially burnt paper on them. In scratchy and messy handwriting. He stares at the screens, taking a sip of the tea.
“Well. It’s more information than we had before...”
He sighed. This mystery on how that Navi constantly evolved and with the recent release of the key, had led to two outbreaks of the “Spirits.” The dark one was constantly violent and dangerous. But he had no idea how to deal with him or even communicate with him. Plus, reaching out and getting in touch with the Navi himself was neigh impossible because he hid himself deep within the forest Net so much.
The computer discussed the forest net, as well as the small village from the far off land where the Navi, and his missing OP, had come from. His watch beeped. He sighed, leaning over the medical bag. He felt the change too, the sudden shift in emotions, including the nervousness in the girl in the room. He pulled out a vial with some pills. He opened it and took one, downing it with some tea. Just as his hands began to shake. After a couple of seconds, he relaxed. He was about to continue looking at the image of the burnt paper when the woman entered into the room. Doctor Kira. She spoke with the girl at the table and offered her a P.E.T. The girl seemed to relax a bit. After her mother left, he spoke just loud enough for her to hear. His voice was soft. He looked directly at Chie, a small smile on his face, happy for her reunion.
“Feel better now that you have your Navi back, Miss?”
He looked back at his own P.E.T. It was blank. Unable to link to his “new” navi. He sighed.

“Feel better now that you have your Navi back, Miss?”
The voice of the young man from another table reached her gently as she soon took note of it's source. Her amber eyes slowly raised their gaze from the device to meet the dichromatic ones ahead of her. Her heart pounded for a moment as she nervously wondered how much that man was listening in as she didn't know how long he was there. Her hands slightly trembled, only a slight shake of her P.E.T was noticeable as she tried to hide all discomfort behind a polite smile. "Oh, yes, it's a great relief of my shoulders. I was afraid I'd never get her back... again. Not the first time I risked losing her."
Meanwhile Guardian, who was quite aware of what's going on sighed from within the confines of her device. As a Navi, she was used to being limited and waiting for details, but it got annoying when it came to OEL as she could leave the confines of the handheld device. If she had a hand, she'd have coughed into it as she faked coughed to get Chie's attention. "Um, Chie, not to be a bother but can you please let me out of the P.E.T? Normally I don't care but after being taken apart and analyzed and put back together, I think a change of scenery could do some good."
Chie returned her gaze back to the P.E.T screen and nodded, reaching into her sweater jacket's pocket, she pulled out three chips and placed them down on the table. Pointing her P.E.T to the side, she pressed a button on the lower side as the red beam shot out. Beside the table a group of data blocks formed into a large rectangle as the dark bladed navi formed before the blocks disappeared. Chie quickly picked up one of the chips and was about to pick up a second before she looked at the purple visor of her navi's helmet. "Kimono right?" To which the navi nodded. Chie picked up a second chip and put the first in. "Disarmor, fashion chip in, download. "
In a moment, the the armor and blades on guardian clicked and detached from Guardian's body before disappearing into code exposing the navi beneath. When the helmet disappeared, long purple hair fell down as Guardian's face was exposed, her almost sparkling purple eyes met Chie's. Chie almost got lost in the moment until she recalled the situation and added the second chip into the slot. "Kimono, Fashion Chip in, download." Guardian's body got encased in data blocks once more but this time it was a wave from top to bottom, each forming a purple and black kimino. Guardian slowly turned to the young man and bowed. "I apologize for rudely interrupting. I was just feeling stiff being held up inside the P.E.T after a full examination and couldn't wait any longer." Guardian stood up and took a seat at the chair adjacent to Chie so she would not obstruct the view of the young man.
Chie nodded as she spoke shortly after Guardian, a small gap, almost in perfect sync with the navi. She looked back to the young man, hoping the whole scene would not upset the young man or offend him.
"Also it took a minute because her weapons don't get put away without a custom chip. OEL doesn't like her walking around armed. Anyways, I apologize for my rudeness of not introducing myself. I am Chie Kira, thank you for showing concern earlier."

As Chie finished, he couldn’t help but chuckle.
“I’m not bothered by it at all, miss Chie. You and your Navi are both absolutely fine. I do not fear weapons. And yeah... Sorry about the Weapons rule.. that’s partially due to a navi of a friend of mine... ”
He trailed for a second before a look of surprise crossed his face. He stood up from his chair, and gave a small bow.
Xy: “Talk about rude. I’m the rude one here, not introducing myself like a gentleman... My name is Xypher. You may call me Xypher, or Xy, as some others. Pleased to make your acquaintance.”
He sat back down. He moved his intricate laptop set up to the side a little, to converse with Chie and Guardian.
Xy: “You look nervous. It’s alright. I understand. Not often that a stranger checks on you to make sure you are okay. It’s rare, I know. Especially in these times.”
He took a sip of his tea, adjusting. The laptop was moved in such a way that Guardian would have a view of the left screen with the arrival of the destroyed village and the burnt scroll.
Xy: I know what it’s like to worry about my navi’s, and the navi’s of others. I’m currently waiting on my new... Navi.”
He paused for a second. Looking at the P.E.T. It still said “Searching” on the screen. Were they still just op and Navi? It’s hard to believe after so much time has passed, they had never really had much of a bond, as she chose to leave and run off so many times. But when he found her and offered her a home... she was different. He no longer felt it part of the mission to just track her since they had a connection to.. him. But because... he stopped his thought, remembering the was a conversation he was involved in. He couldn’t get lost in thought right now.
He looked back at Chie and Gaurdian.
Xy: My Navi likes to have plenty of freedom to go where she pleases. She’s supposed to be reporting in soon... Anyway, what brings you two here to the OEL?”

“Talk about rude. I’m the rude one here, not introducing myself like a gentleman... My name is Xypher. You may call me Xypher, or Xy, as some others. Pleased to make your acquaintance.”
Chie and Guardian noted the gentlemanly nature of the young man, and couldn't help but be totally impressed for his selflessness and acknowledgement of his own errors as he bowed respectfully. Chie took a sip of her tea but stopped rather quickly, as the tea had grown too cold for her liking. Guardian noticed such out of the corner of her eye as well as the untouched bagel but said nothing for now as she focused on Xypher. "Don't worry too much about it Xypher. You were showing good intentions so we can let this slide." Chie nodded in agreement, figured she had nothing more to add, letting the young man carry on.
“You look nervous. It’s alright. I understand. Not often that a stranger checks on you to make sure you are okay. It’s rare, I know. Especially in these times. I know what it’s like to worry about my navi’s, and the navi’s of others. I’m currently waiting on my new... Navi.”
Chie nodded, as she could find at least one bit of common ground so far. She hoped that he would easily understand her situation with a few words. "Yeah, I was worried sick all day. I nearly lost Guardian for good some time ago and got her back recently. Anything that would risk taking her away again scares me to death." Meanwhile Guardian caught a glimpse of the young man's P.E.T screen and couldn't help but be concerned. She wondered who his Navi was, and if he showed such concern, why they weren't by his side as she prayed that the loyalty wasn't one sided.
"My Navi likes to have plenty of freedom to go where she pleases. She’s supposed to be reporting in soon... Anyway, what brings you two here to the OEL?”
Guardian let out a sigh of relief as she was glad that she was wrong. Taking a glance to Chie, Chie nodded as both co-ordinated with each other what parts to tell in an instant with just simple and quick gestures. "Well, to tell that is gonna require a bit of backtracking. When Chie found me and synced me to the new P.E.T, I was in the midst of protecting what I thought was a small Navi named Unity from a giant Narwhal made of bugs, but the small Navi turned out to be an autonomous operating system that merged with me. It gave me enough power to fend it off till the Officials arrived."
Chie held up a chip with the symbol of the Unity on it as she explained her part. "That whole experience had left her with a portion of the power she had in that state, however due to her, complex nature, she was unable to retain it so one of her, special programs turned it into a chip. Guardian was not originally a Navi, she was originally a prototype server protection program, Guardian.OS, but due to errors in the test, it had a meltdown and Guardian.OS's AI program was salvaged albeit damaged. It eventually got transferred into Guardian.exe and is maintained by a special conversion program built in to convert Server programs to Navi programs."
Chie put the chip away in her pocket as she knew Guardian was about to speak, even if they spent time apart, they always knew how to play off one another. "However during my time On Unity's OS, it somehow defragmented a few of Guardian.OS's memories, and because that was seemingly impossible to do for the creators of the project, Chie's parents, they were unsure of any consequences of what it could do to me. So I spent the entire day being studied and taken apart, luckily put back together."
Guardian's curiosity eventually overcame her as she had to ask at this point. "If you don't mind me asking, are you here to look for your Navi? I can't help but notice that you show such dedication yet she doesn't even stick around you without updates or anything. That doesn't seem right at all."

A doorway to the main research area slides open behind the group, and in the doorway stands a stately man in a black overcoat and a tophat. He walks into the area with a strong and wide stride, looking over those in the area--until he spots Chie. In this moment his face turns an unnatural shade of gray, he does a prompt 180 mid-steps, and he walks back into the research area and closes the doorway behind himself without so much as a word.

"How did it feel?" A voice came in behind all of them. Turning around they would see a feline looking figure with a hand on his hip staring intently at Guardian with his two sapphire blue eyes. His thin, long tail swayed in low arcs behind him.
"To merge with that Unity guy. It soulds like he gave you quite the powerup." Nightshade added. Now looking closely, one would spot a small bush on the small visible area of his face between face mask and helmet.
He had casually stumbled in the terminal that sent him to the projector servers. The juuka had materialized inside the room, happening to hear part of Chie's navi's story. The juuka was a little tense, maybe because all the people in the room could tell what he was, but overall tried to remain calm and friendly.

Xyph nodded. He understood. To him, nsvi’s weren’t just programs like he once thought. He had learned, watched and studied navi/human interaction and came to have an appreciation for the bonds between a navi and their operator.
Xy: “I’m glad everything worked out for the best. The color has even come back to your face.”
He didn’t mention the untouched bagel.
Xyph looked at Chie with interest as she spoke. As she discussed Guardian, he looked over the female Navi, clearly interested in her process and her ability to make chips off navi data as well as Guardian gets
Xy: “Thats fascinating.. so, Guardian was originally a server OS, that now has her own personality and appearance of a navi that was taken from the original OS... Did you do this, Chie? That’s genius. And something I’ve bever encountered before...”
He paused for a moment. Clearly his brain in critical thinking mode. He looked at Gaurdian.
Xy: “So, Miss Guardian, do you have free thinking capability? Where you judge a situation based on your own thinking and feelings? Or are you programmed to believe certain things”
Looking back at Chie, his eyes seemed to sparkle with a mixture of curiosity and kindness. However, before he spoke, he heard a voice behind him speak.
He looked in the laptop and could see the reflection of the cat behind him. While the cat was talking, he moved with his back to the window where the setting sun reflected off his jacket. But he could now see everyone. While the cat’s question was valid, he had other questions.
Xy: “And you are?”
He said looking at the cat. However, before he could continue, his P.E.T beeped.
”Hello? Xy, Sir?”
The screen flickered, revealing a face pale face, with emerald eyes and vibrant peak hair. Her voice was quiet and soft, and it was a combination of worry and apologetic.
Xy: “Xylia! You are safe!”
He said looking at the screen. He flicked a button, and offered her the ability to enter the room just as Guardian was and Nightshade.
She stepped forward. She was young and looked young. Roughly 17, 18 at most. With her fair, soft skin, her long flowing pink hair that almost touched the floor, pulled into a very fluffy ponytail. her emerald eyes that carried a myriad of emotion in them, with her thin cheeks. She was slender and small, at a body slightly over 5 feet tall. She had large emerald eyes, and was wearing a white sleeveless top with a white skirt dress that was down past her ankles. There was a pink rose embroidered on her chest. She wore an emerald broach at the top of her hair, and had a silver chain around her neck with something attached, hidden beneath her top. She looked around the room. Besides her, a purple Candevil appeared, along with two other small viruses.
”Where are we? Xy.... Who are these people?”

"My name is Nightshade.Rx. I am...well, long story short, my clothes speak for me pretty much." The navi replied. he was somewhat relieved they didn't think much of him. He could finally have a normal conversation without the world exploding or people dying. "It's a pleasure to meet you all. I couldn't help but get interested in Unity. Sounds like he would be able to help me with something rather important."

“Thats fascinating.. so, Guardian was originally a server OS, that now has her own personality and appearance of a navi that was taken from the original OS... Did you do this, Chie? That’s genius. And something I’ve never encountered before...”
Chie shook her head, she was flattered that the young boy believed her to be so talented but she knew she herself was not that good yet. "No, my parents did. They designed the original server protection project that was Guardian." Guardian did not take well to the implication that her personality was added after she became a Navi. Her eyes sharply stared right into Xypher as she answered his queries. "I've always had my own personality and always had freedom of thought. That was the entire purpose of my being, Guardian.OS was to be a network protection software designed to make judgement calls to determine who to and who not to delete. In the early tests there was a crash and a virus attack, the AI was saved and put on ice until Chie's parents got so worried that Chie was lonely, as a kid she never even asked for a Navi."
Chie smacked Guardian's holographic wrist as she did not enjoy her past being shared so easily and in such a light. "I was fine..." Guardian noticed as Xylia emerged onto the scene, however she couldn't help but feel like they met before. "Oh, it's you again! I haven't seen you since the Forest Network! Well I suppose with my fashion chips you wouldn't recognize me or have caught my name, but I'm Guardian, and this is my Operator Chie.
Guardian turned her eye to Nightshade as she stood up. Standing taller than the navi even without her armor. "Nightshade, I suggest avoiding seeking out this Unity, merging with him while unprepared overclocked all my systems, even damaging my attack systems at the end of the day. It's basically like taking your limits and breaking them while under an intense high."
Chie however was focused on the viruses that followed Xylia, a little concerned as to their presence as her gaze didn't cease. "I'm sorry but could you explain why there are viruses here?"

Nightshade's tail flicked in excitement. "Well...considered my story..." He casually replied leaning in, challenging the tall female navi. "Becoming one with Unity might be just what I need to push my limits and understand my powers better. I know we just met, but would you be able to give me more information on this Unity guy? He might actually be really helpful to try and fix the shattered world we're in right now."

Xyph listened with much interest at Chie and Guardians story. Guardian’s tone seemed a bit.. put off by her response. But they both were very interesting.
Xy: “I meant no offense, Miss Guardian! I’m sorry. Sometimes I say things in a technical, non-thought out process without realizing that it can be interpreted negatively. I wasn’t trying to be insulting. I should rephrase my statement... I was curious as to how you felt/thought as your own growth from a server into a navi is, and if that has made you feel different compared to as an OS?”
Turning back to Chie, he continued.
Xy: “I’m sorry to hear about your miss happpenings, miss Chie. Gaurdian is good for you. I know the feeling of loneliness quite well myself. I don’t have many friends personally.”
Turning to Nightshade, he listened to Guardian’s speak regarding Unity.
Xy: “I don’t know much about Unity. He seems very powerful. But also someone who ahpuld be respected. If he is hiding, he should be left alone. Fixing this world is a task all must undertake if we are to fix it. Not just one navi.”
Turning back to Xylia, Xyph gave a small smile. He spoke softly and kindly.
Xy: “I see you’ve made some companions. Care to introduce them?”
Xylia looked around the room. She didn’t really remember the female Navi, and the cat.. Wait. There’s a cat navi? She sat down across from Xypher.
”I’m sorry... I don’t think I recall you... I do recall your voice though...”
”Gaurdian, you said? I think I remember. Some time ago with the incident in the forest.”
The purple Candevil jumper up on the table. The two little twin viruses followed suit. , but huddled together right against Xylia.
”I’m Cura. That’s Maya and Serenity. We found them abondoned, huddling and cowering in a building when the building was attacked. Xylia has adopted them.”

"Becoming one with Unity might be just what I need to push my limits and understand my powers better. I know we just met, but would you be able to give me more information on this Unity guy? He might actually be really helpful to try and fix the shattered world we're in right now."
A gentle sigh passed Guardians lips as she looked down at what she started to look down at the younger feline Navi. She felt like her voice fell on deaf ears as she didn't make her point clear. Guardian crossed her arms and sat down on the table, looking at the tiger navi in the eyes. "You did here me say that merging with Unity caused me harm right into the very fabric of my coding?" A moment past as the truth finally caught up with the Navi that she was looking at someone who was truly desperate to get stronger. Guardian moved aside and reached for Chie's P.E.T, sending a remote signal while double tapping the screen, causing a holoscreen to emerge to show the young man a picture of Unity's crest. "Alright kitten, I realize I can't stop you from seeking him out. Unity will look like a small yellow and blue Navi with this crest and a gold ring around himself. Be warn that fusing with him might have effects on your mind as it does overclock everything about you. I don't know where or how to find him."
Guardian then turned to Xypher, answering his query with a shrug as she herself has few memories. "I'm sorry Xypher, it was only until I merged with Unity that I recovered the memories of Guardian.OS, and even then I barely have a fragment of visual and audio data, twelve seconds at best." Guardian noted the talking viruses and wondered why her NetOp was so silent, turning to Chie, she saw that Chie appeared to be frozen as she hid behind a facade of calmness while her eyes drifted about, pretending to follow the focus of conversation. However from the sheer detail in her eyes, Guardian was able to tell that the talking viruses were getting to her. Guardian tried to snap fingers in front of Chie but failed.
"C'mon Chie, it's so rare I have fingers to snap, say something!" Chie looked at the viruses then back to Xylia, her calm exterior as she had a coy smile as she didn't want to be rude to the navi or the viruses, afraid of setting them off. Her fingers twitched as she spoke. "I couldn't help but notice the entourage, are, you one of those virus tamers?"
Guardian got annoyed at this level of passiveness and made it clear she was staring at the bagel before back to Chie. She stood up, crossing her arms and tapping her forearm as she spoke down to Chie. "Chie, have you eaten today?" Chie whispered back to the Navi "Don't worry, I'm fine..." Guardian sat on the table and leaned closer, letting her fingers loosely touch the chin of her netOp. "My entire purpose is to worry for you, you haven't had much more than a few drops to drink and your bagel is untouched. Go grab something to eat hun, right now!" Chie grabbed her P.E.T and stood up, brushing aside her Navi as she started to walk away. "Oh alright! Don't get your binary coding in a twist."
As Chie went to grab some food, Guardian let out a deep breath before she turned around to face Xypher, almost begging. She didn't want Chie to be overwhelmed and talking viruses might do the job. "Xypher, I don't mean to be rude but I can't explain, mostly out of sheer time. Can you store those little guys in your P.E.T for now? It's an emergency."

This lady did not understand. But she did not know about him or what happened, so it was fair.
"I've made many errors in the past. Errors I am not fond of. But right now the entire world is fliped if someone doesn't do something. I need to regain access to my Beast form. If Unity is able to overclock me, I might be able to reactivate the parts of my code that are infected with Gregar's bugs and trigger a BeastOut.
I might go insane, my body might not be able to handle it. But I'd gladly have my body destroyed if it means fixing all the bull crap I have. No one will miss me anyway. This is not about me or my power, I'm done chasing the carrot on a stick for myself. This time it'll be to actually help others."
He quieted down from his rather heated speech when she allowed him the information he needed. He saved it up and just gave Guardian a thankful nod.
